Dr. Shapiro is an outstanding physician. He is knowledgeable and has an excellent bedside manner. He does a thorough job of explaining treatment options in a way that the patient can understand them. I absolutely recommend him to anyone seeking adult GI care.

Excellent Doctor. Went there to do my conoloscopy. He was super concerned and the staff there made me feel like if I was at my own house.

Be prepared to wait for a hour or so before the doctor sees you. Nurses are professional however the wait period is ridiculous.

Not impressed. I’ve been going to Emory doctors exclusively for the past 9 years, so I have a certain standard that I look for in doctors. My primary care physician referred me to Drs. Gahan & Carson at Metro Atlanta Gastroenterology. When I called, there was a month wait to see either of those doctors, but I could see Dr. Max Shapiro in two days, so I scheduled him. The office staff was nice enough — did a fine job, however, my experience with Dr. Shapiro wasn’t wonderful. I explained my symptoms and in the middle of my consultation, his cell phone rang and he answered it. I could tell it was a personal call and he continued the call with me in the room for 2 to 3 minutes. I understand urgent things come up, but he could have excused himself and left the room to take the call. Then, I would have had no idea and perhaps thought another patient was having an emergency. I found this to be less than professional. Further, he didn’t seem to take my concerns seriously. Didn’t want to run any tests; just seemed to think I’d get better on my own. It’s been over two weeks since I was there and have not gotten better yet, so needless to say, I won’t be following up with him. I can only assume the other two doctors are worth the wait, as Dr. Shapiro was not.
