Came to More Home Slice — which is next door to the original«Home Slice» establishment — for a snack. After using the B-Cycle bike system for much of the afternoon I was in desperate need for something fatty and greasy and delicious. More Home Slice didn’t have any wait like Home Slice — more of the dining in side of the biz — and the staff was quick and friendly. A little too friendly in that the guy at the register was hawking a glass of wine to me as if I needed it. All I thought was, «do I look like I need a drink or are you using one of the worth lines while you’re on the clock to get my attention?!» Got a plain slice with a nice large cup of ice water which was heaven. Plain slice is the best way to get a sense of the quality and it was damn good! Premium pizza and very similar to a New York style pie. They provide all the general topping fix-ins(e.g. parmesan cheese, hot pepper flakes, oregano, hot sauce, etc). Stood outside and watched the busy Sunday activity of S Congress Street and the live music across the way at the Mexican joint. I don’t suggest parking in the tiny lot between Home Slice and More Home Slice because people are crazy drivers and I’d worry you’d get a scratch/ding on your car.

As if you couldn’t get enough of the original! When Mr. Smidgens wants a slice late at night or a whole pie and he doesn’t want to wait, he orders from More Homeslice! Call it in, pick it up, enjoy! So, if you don’t feel like waiting to be seated at Homeslice next door just call in an order and you can relish in the fact that you are getting to indulge in some of the best pizza in town before your fellow pizza lovers still waiting for their name to be called for a table. Mmmmmm… More Homeslice.

I’m not from the area, and I’ve heard rave reviews about their pizza. It was average at best. My pizza had spinach, roasted red peppers, green olives and garlic. Maybe I’ll try a little meat next time. While it was edible, there was nothing special about the pizza.

Great experience. I’m from Chicago but reside in Nola. It wasn’t Chicago style but it was better than anything in Nola. The girlfriend didn’t care for the taste of the dough but I loved the crust. The white and spinach was my favorite! Service was great. Definitely no complaints.

I have been pleasantly overwhelmed with all the quality food that ATX has to offer. As a NYer, I can confirm that the slice here is legit. An old Italian Brooklynite once told me that a true NY slice will crack when you fold it in half and these slices did just that. Had a Margherita and Meatball & Onion slice. Both were delish, particularly the Margherita slice which was topped with fresh basil, just like back home at Gramaldi’s. Will head there again, the next time I am in town.

This pizza is pretty legit. We had eaten here a couple of years ago and I don’t remember it being THIS good. Totally worth the drive from SA. Pizza came out piping hot and freshhh. It was delish but you better be prepared to seat outside on the curb, your car or pray you get lucky and grab one of the 10 seats available inside(like we did) lol: P Who doesn’t like crispy crust, gooey middle & loads of cheese & pep? Visit! You and your peeps won’t be disappointed:-)

Pretty good. I spent 15 years in NYC before moving to Austin almost a year ago. I’ve learned that you can’t be TOO picky in this town when it comes to pizza. I’ve tried a bunch of restaurants in Austin offering different pizza styles, and for the most part I have been left underwhelmed. More Home Slice always seems to hit the spot when I get a taste for pizza. No, Its not a crazy big slice, but it always comes out hot and fresh. I could possibly handle a bit more cheese on the slice, but thankfully there’s not too much sauce(the worst!) Also, the taste of the crust which can make or break a slice is not the best ever, but I can certainly devour the whole thing. More Home Slice is tasty enough– The slice is flat, I can fold it, inhale it NY style, and it holds me down until I can pop up north for a visit. Can it compare to my fave pizzerias in Brooklyn or Queens? Nawl, but it’s def worth return visits and its the only place in this town thus far that does the trick when I get a hankering for a slice.

The best place to grab a quick slice! Pizza is always fresh and delicious and there is hardly ever a wait. Fave is the margherita. Pepperoni is good and has the perfect amount of grease. Haven’t had their sandwiches yet but will be back to try them soon!

Had the takeout version at about 130am. The pizza was amazing. The slices are huge, NY style, fold in half, two handed portions. Which is more then alright by me. The crust is amazing, a little chewy, a little crispy, sauce was good, cheese was perfect. Perfect amount of pepperoni on each slide not too much, which is hard to do, and not being stingy with it either. We also grabbed one of their rice crispy treats which are huge! They’re about 4×4×4 inch cube of delicious, marshmallowy goodness. Really good late, late night spot

Looking to grab a quick slice and go after a long day-then I would definitely come here! More Home Slice Pizza has an easy menu to choose from, with the most original slices like pepperoni and cheese to choosing to show off one of their fancier pizzas that is found at the main restaurant. I thought the wait time for my slice wasn’t too long. And the service there was pretty friendly. There are enough high top tables to sit inside or outside if you choose to stay. All in all-great pizza place that is fast and tasty. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Ordered take out at the register. The lady taking our order was very sweet. I enjoyed a glass of wine while we waited. It was busy for a Wednesday night, and understandably so. We ordered a white pizza with half tomato, garlic knots, and a house salad. Actually if you want the long story we ordered a white pizza, then the lady asked«are you sure you don’t want any toppings? People usually order it with something on it.» She asked twice lol and we said no thanks. Then after she put the order in we thought about it and then asked her to add half tomatoes. Hate to be that person to make things complicated lol! But the manager(maybe he was the owner) came over and said no problem he will add half tomatoes to our order for no charge. So nice of him! Everything was very delicious and the service was superb! Coming from two New Jerseyans, thank you!

After we found out that their dine-in counterpart next door had a 45 minute wait, we immediately walked in next door and started an order to take back to our hotel. They said it would take 20 minutes to prepare and that was the perfect time to swing by HEB down the street and grab some drinks and vacation supplies. All in all, fast service and the pizza is the best I’ve had in Texas and ranks within the pizza joints of NYC.

I always come to more home slice because the service is faster if all you want is just a slice! This is by far the best pizza I’ve had! I love how crispy the bottom is and the spinach pizza thing is delicious

More Home Slice Pizza is a quick dining option located right next to the Home Slice restaurant. This pizza joint is a popular spot for locals and probably tourists, and is located right in the heart of South Congress so expect parking to be quite a pain on busy nights. There are about 5 different types of pizza with rotating toppings. I tried the pepperoni, and sausage and garlic pizza — both were freshly hot, packed with flavor, thin and crispy! I also tried their garlic knots which were disappointing. There is not enough garlic or parmesan cheese! You can’t go wrong at More Home Slice as it provides quick service and delicious pizzas!

It was good pizza I guess, but to me it was just pizza… I didn’t see what the hype was about which was disappointing. It was overwhelmingly crowded with no place to sit inside, so my friend and I had to sit on the steps outside to eat in the freezing-ish Texas December weather.

I might be from Chicago but I’m not a fan of deep dish. There I said it! Don’t hate me! I am all about the NY style pizza. If I am going to spend my cheat day eating pizza, I want to make the most of it and eat more of it. Why only suffer from food coma over one slice of deep dish pizza when I can eat half a pizza that is thin crust. This place was on my radar because a friend from Houston recommended it, so when I got to Austin, I was on the look out. I know Texans make good BBQ, but pizza too?! I had to try it out for myself. On my weekend trip to Austin, our Airbnb was only 5 minutes from this place so I figured I would take a quick jog to check out this place out while scoping out what South Congress was all about. Let me tell you, the jog lasted about 5 minutes, if not less. The heat in Texas is serious. No place for a Chicagoan. I figured after my short lived jog I should at least reward myself with pizza. From far away I can already see a crowd of people and began to get worried because the day before I tried to attempt the line at Franklin. To my surprise, everyone had already ordered, so I walked up to the window and asked if I could order by the slice and the cashier was so friendly and patient with me. He pointed to the left of the window and there was a couple of pizza scribbled on the chalkboard. I immediately went for the margherita pizza! Only 4 bucks! The cashier even offered me a cup of water while I waited. Within 5 mins, my order was ready and I was skipping home as I wanted to inhale this pizza ASAP. This glorious pizza. I ate it before I could even take a picture of it. The ingredients were just simple and fresh. Easily one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my lifetime. Plus the service was quick so I didn’t melt and the staff was so friendly, which made the whole experience that much better.

Pizza-by-the slice places are always winners in my book. This place does something really well: it blends with the«NY slice» with a flat-bread style. SO… you get the minimalist sauce-to-cheese-to-topping ratio of those floppy pies from the Big Apple, and a nice cracker-crunch of the thin crust. My only reservation holding me back from 5 stars is that the crust was a bit on the saltier side. Still, this wouldn’t hold me back from stopping by again. Good solid pie.

My boyfriend and I went to try Home Slice last night after moving to Austin this past weekend and hearing all the rave reviews! We tried to go to the original home slice next door, but even at 8:15 on a Monday, there was a 50 minute wait! So, we went next door. Barely a line and took 5 – 10 minutes to get our food here, although still a lot of people. I think maybe the hype got to us and it could no way possibly be as good as we were expecting! It was definitely good pizza, but I just don’t think it was my favorite. I got the white pizza with broccoli and the half pear and Gorgonzola salad which came with a garlic knot. I wish my pizza had more cheese/a touch more flavor. Liked the crispness and the broccoli though! Salad was good but pears a little bland. Garlic knot was like a hard piece of bread with very slight garlic – underwhelmed there. Huge portions – this was like getting 2 meals. My boyfriend got the Sicilian cheese and the pepperoni pizza. He agreed that he liked it, but not his favorite. Overall…might be back with friends as a tourist destination, but will continue our search for our fav pizza place in Austin!

The vibe at this place is really fun. Open late and lots of college folks around. I cannot believe being a pizza lover, I didn’t try this place earlier. I tried the two veggie slices available that day. Eggplant and Margherita. It was certainly NY style, long droopy and had to fold to eat it. Texture was like any NY style street pizza. However, the taste was a little underwhelming. I couldn’t taste the sauce or any salt. The Basil in the Margherita was minimal. Also, since they re heat the slice, mine were a little overlooked. Eggplant was well seasoned. I know people hate the chains, but. Even Dominos makes a decent Brooklyn style pizza. Also tried the garlic knobs, nothing special. Couldn’t taste much garlic. I’d go here if I want a midnight snack but not really for the taste. Next time I’ll try the full pizza custom order and then update my review.
