Alex’s Place

Great food! Sometimes even with a reservation, the wait is long… But worth it! Mashed potatoes are real and delicious! Of course, the ribs, steak, seafood and chicken are what they are famous for… Def. recommended!

Good food but the place is dark and crowded. I feel like I’m sitting in a group of people that I don’t know. I can hear everyone’s conversation making it hard to hold my own conversation. The wait to get in on a weekend is not worth it, I will go somewhere else before waiting to be seated.
The servers are friendly but I feel as if they are rushed and don’t take the time. Almost like I am an inconvenience to them.

The service was oddly slow and infrequent for the very early-​bird barren restaurant-​scape I experienced. As we left happy hour was probably starting and there were nice cheese and crackers platters placed around the bar. Their french onion soup was indeed good. I had a their fish fry, it may have been a ½ portion, it was tender, moist and flaky. My company seemed to like their ribs, steak and potatoes. We did need to ask for additional sour cream, as their serving size was about half a table spoon.

Been here twice in about 4 years — Its great! Plenty of food (I mean plenty!) Well run and staffed, very cosy and friendly. Home cooked food for us all. I have the vision they don’t have a chef, but an Italian mama out back just telling everyone how to make the food her way. Really good selection of all your regular favorites and reasonably priced. It really is just around the corner fro the freeway hotels, so if you are staying there, don’t bother going into town.

Alex’s is always a decent place to visit when looking for some good grub in Batavia. The Holiday Season is especially nice as they decorate very nicely. The place does not seem to be quite as nice and fancy as it was 10 – 15 years ago but it is still much better than any of the chains. The prices are very reasonable, the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. I am a fan of Alex’s Place.

On a road trip to Canada and My boyfriend and I always look for hidden gem restaurants to enjoy great food and create some beautiful memories. After seeing all the great reviews we decided to give this place a try. I had the BBQ special which included: quarter chicken breast, their famous rack of ribs, shrimp skewer and brisket! Great way to try a little of everything. Get a takeout box ready, there will be plenty to take home for a late night snack.

Went there for chicken, got talked into the Wednesday Special, Meatloaf. That dish was Killer. Our server, Sidney was excellent. Prices were cheap in my opinion and the service, atmosphere and quality were outstanding. I’ll be back.

Comfort food at its finest. No frills, standard American-​fare that is consistently good. Lumpy, delicious mashed potatoes, savory gravy, perfectly toasted hoagy rolls, bread and butter, french onion soup … all the staples are here. This is a great place to stop if you’ve been on the thruway for a while and don’t feel like getting fast food or going to a chain.

We found this place through Unilocal and gave it a shot. The ribs had a great char bark and fell off the bone. Great local find. Could use a refresh on décor, but cool experience.

I’ve come here 2 times this past year. The first time they made the reservation on the wrong month so when 12 of us arrived, they were surprised. After they had taken care of that (which they did a VERY nice job with), they brought us all appetizers and apologized. None of us cared we didn’t mind sitting at the bar and waiting but that was definitely very nice to see them really try and make it up to us. Very apologetic and accommodating for the small mistake. A++ on the staff and management that works here.
I have had the ribs, clams casino and a shrimp/​avocado salad. I recommend the ribs and clams casino all day over anything else! The ambiance is what really makes this place. Yes, they have great food but there is something about sitting in a unique environment that changes your mood and experience a bit!
Both experiences here have been good ones even though there were some mistakes made. My family and myself continue to come back, so that must say something!

A billboard for Alex’s Place caught my husband’s eye while we were staying in town, so this is where we went for dinner.
The restaurant has a vintage supper club feel, dark and cozy in the bar area. There were crackers and cheese spread out on the bar, but someone said the crackers were stale, so I didn’t try any. It was very humid out, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Our female server at the bar, while not overly friendly, was efficient enough.
I had a glass of the Steak House Cabernet with my meal for $ 7.
Being a garlic lover, I ordered the half charcoal grilled chicken, garlic style ($ 9.99), and had the French onion soup as my side. The soup had some garlic salt sprinkled on it prior to going under the broiler to melt the cheese, and while this was a nice idea, the salt had gotten somewhat charred and just added a burnt flavor to the cheese. The onions and broth were pretty good and not overly salted or MSG flavored like some places put out.
My chicken did have garlic flavor brushed on the skin and then grilled, but unfortunately the white meat had gotten fairly dried out.
I think Alex’s is probably a good choice and maybe I just had a little bit of an off experience. For me I put this visit at a 2 ½ star experience, but I would give them another try if I was in the area again.

Went for dinner with three others, had the filet mignon with Caesar salad, dining companions had the NY Strip Steak and pig Boat (pork ribs with pulled pork). All was cooked to perfection, flavorful, and delicious. The wine list and beer selection was good and priced reasonably. Highly recommend! Very accommodating staff

Food was seasoned fantastically. The meat was cooked to near perfection. The aroma of the restaurant was a nice meat smell (not overwhelming). The service was kind and quick. Solid experience!

Sat under a table where there was water dripping from a ceiling vent! Complained to our waitress Rose who basically old us «too bad»… What?! Disgusting and unacceptable.

Incredible ribs… very personal staff and manager.
I was able to see the manager approve every plate before it was delivered. We had a large group with no reservation and they handled us with ease. If your in the area… don’t hesitate to stop at Alex’s. You will not be disappointed!!!

This is by far my favorite restaurant. If you’re looking for a great meal for a night out I recommend this place. My suggestions for meals would be the ribs, and the chicken Alfredo. They also serve fresh baked Italian bread and butter after being seated!

Fantastic — came here in a business trip and very happy to have stumbled on the place. THANKS UnilocalERS! Felt just like walking in to a traditional pub back home — England, down to the smell of furniture polish on the wood. Busy and very down to earth pub. Service was A1 — incredibly friendly personable and quick server and food was jaw dropping. Ribs were fall off the bone — wish I could’ve tasted those — but I had the prime rib which was fantastic. I only wish my belly was bigger so I could have savored more. Sides were a little mean — could use more vegetables but wine was reasonable price and overall amazing value for the money! Best of all I was sat in front of the kitchen so it was like a cooking lesson and foodie heaven rolled into one.

I really enjoyed this place. You definitely want to show up before 4pm on weekends. It gets packed fast and they only do call ahead seating.
The food was good here. I got the King Prime Rib with mushroom crust. I had to get this mushroom crust because the picture on Unilocal looked delish and after finally trying it, I must say, it was pretty damn good. I do wish that it was a bit crispier although I have no idea how someone could pull that off. If you are one of the people who enjoy ribs that fall off the bone, they LITERALLY fall off the bone here. The meat was tender and tasty. The loaded mashed potatoes were great. A nice addition to the ribs. A lot of food for the money. But I do wish that the beer selection was larger especially given that they sell comfort food. Nothing pairs better that an icy cold beer.
Do it! You wont regret it.
