Place is small but staff(all juniors/seniors in high school when I stopped by) were very nice and helpful. If you get a small($ 5) you can order two flavors – I picked Peanut Butter Hydrox(peanut butter cookies and cream) and Milk Chocolate. The chocolate wasn’t very memorable but I did find the PBH tasty and interesting – would order again!

Not a fan. Their selection was minimal and lacked creativity. Their hot fudge sauce was too dark and concentrated and had a gritty consistency. First and last visit.

Best ice cream I have traveled all around the world and had a lot ice cream but the best cake batter and sweet cream ice cream come from here. I also really enjoy the frappes especially the mango and sweet cream frappé. The service is always friendly as the owner always hires high school kids who are passionate about their job.

Definitely a big highlight of my visit was the M&M Cookie Cone with Vanilla Bean ice cream I got here. Ice cream is smooth and flavorful, and the cookie cone was absolutely awesome. I could eat just the cone. I’ll definitely visit again.

I absolutely love this ice cream. Doesn’t give you that nauseous post ice cream feeling after you’ve eaten too much of it: p the hot fudge is AMAZING on vanilla ice cream with a little whipped cream. We live down the street and whenever we try other local shops out, nothing compares. And the young kids are always nice at the counter.

That was the best ice cream I’ve had in years. Had the bittersweet chocolate sundae, and believe me, it did not suck. This place is pricey but well worth it.

The ice cream here is horrible. It tastes watery and old(like it was made months ago). I also found pieces of hair in my scoop multiple times. I will not being going back ever again. This store is a disgrace.

Located in the middle of the always hopping Belmont Center this gem has provided me with many excellent memories, and even better ice cream. While the prices will likely make your jaw drop, you’ll almost definitely come back again and again, craving the incomparable sundaes and frappes. It also does’t hurt that the staff is very friendly and helpful.(On multiple occasions I’ve gone in a few minutes before closing time and the employees were more than willing to serve.) Best ice cream around. Best frappes around. Best hot fudge around. Best whipped cream around. Hands down.

I liked it better in its original location. More homey and special. Now it’s a modern-feeling ice cream store. Ice cream not as creamy as I like, prices still high, serving sizes seem smaller, but it was good. I wouldn’t make a special trip to Belmont to go there. In fact, I was just in Belmont again, and thought it wasn’t worth the calories. So I walked-past. Oh well.

Also, the staff are super friendly and accommodating when there isn’t a huge line out the door.

Back in Belmont, and reminded once again that Rancatore’s is just delightful. Boston has the best ice cream anywhere in the country, and Ranc’s is at the top of the heap. The ginger ice cream is some of the most intense ice cream I’ve had, and the frozen yogurts are no lightweights… worth doing. My only complaint? I wish it were just a little cheaper since it’s a decent chunk of change for four ice creams, although I don’t begrudge them for that since I hope they’re always around whenever I’m back in town.

It’s good quality ice cream, but there’s not much variety. I went to their web site and picked out coconut, banana, and almond. I was really disappointed to find out that the store actually had none of these. My wife wanted yet another advertised flavor that was absent. We had to settle for plainer fare, which was not exciting. Addition: have since visited the Lexington location, which was busy on warm summer’s eve, but also didn’t get any good flavors, and there were ice chunks evident in the product. This is not on par with a Kimball Farms or other independent dairy stands of that standard.

I’ve loved this place since I was a kid, well before they moved to Belmont Center. It was always a tradition to get ice cream cakes there for my birthday — they are the best ever. I went on Mother’s Day for the first time in years and I was not disappointed. I got a small cup of Milk Chocolate /Coconut, my mom got a medium cup of Salted Caramel /Hazelnut Crème. Every flavor was wonderful. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it’s rather pricey. $ 9.50 for the two of us! I’m glad it’s no longer cash only.

Amazing ice cream, all made in house. The place is always packed but it’s worth it. Joe Rancatore is fantastic, but splits his time between Belmont and Lexington. When I was a kid, and the place was on the corner of Belmont and School Street,(and was my neighbor) I was short 20 cents on a cone. While this doesn’t seem like much now, it was a big deal to an 8 year old. Joe smiled, covered the difference and said, «pay me back next time.» I think I still owe him that 20 cents! For the sports fans, the entire store is totally decked out in boston sports collectibles!

Although Rancatore’s was tied for third(aka last) in my rankings of the ice cream places I visited, I still liked it a lot. The service was great, and I enjoyed the my cup. Feeling festive, I also opted for hot fudge, and I do think it enhanced the taste experience. This place is a little cramped, but we were still able to get seating without much fuss. A nice spot in Belmont.

My god. Tiger Milk? I would’ve had no idea what that was unless a friend told me to try it. And MYGOD it is the best thing I’ve ever tasted. They take milk that was soaked with frosted flakes(you know, the sweetest goodness in the world that you have to glug down after you finish your cereal?) It is heaven in ice cream form. And the hydrox is a oreo combo which is out of this world. Better than ANY oreo ice cream I could dream of. Outstanding. It’s good this place isn’t closer to me because I would be morbidly obese if it were.

Quaint, modern scoop shop that seats 12 and enjoys murder. You say? It killed the last remaining TCBY in a 25 mile radius as of Sunday, October 16th. RIP White Chocolate Mousse with gummy bears. Hard frozen yogurt mingles with none-too-exciting flavors, but don’t misinterpret; the product is expertly crafted and reasonably priced. Love the tiny touches — flavors held up by magnetized chrome chip clips for ease of rotation, and small batch beverages chilling in the coolers. Both judges agreed the bittersweet chocolate malt edged out the extra-thick milk chocolate frappé, while the pretzel cone showed promi– Hold the phone. Yes, a pretzel cone. This and other gourmet offerings come from The Cone Guys out of PA, and you better believe I’ll be diving headlong in to the salty-sweet combo on my next visit. A visit that’ll likely result in a fifth star. Go Belmont!
