Truly must be avoided. Beautiful restaurant and décor, terrible food. I went for the lunch buffet. Almost every tray was empty or almost empty. What was there was all burnt to a crisp and dry like you wouldnt believe. Fresh naan is brought to your table, that too was burnt. When they finally brought fresh Tandoori chicken to the buffet, it was also burnt. Literally not one decent item in the place and I left terribly sick to my stomach. Add to that its $ 10 for the lunch buffet, on the high side for lunch buffets but would be acceptable if the food was edible. It was not, at all. Staff never once asked how the food was, if you needed anything, if everything was ok. Not one dessert dish. Just terrible.

Always enjoy the food here. I’ve never eaten anything here that I didn’t enjoy. The spicier the better :-) service could be better, but It’s a hit or miss sometimes. Still over all a good place to eat.

The place has declined in quality and service dramatically over the last couple of years. The popular weekend lunch buffets have been serving up bad quality in recent times. I went their for a dinner on a Friday night and took about an 1.5 hours for all of our food to come out! The restaurant is poorly manged and over priced for the food they serve. I do not recommend this place. There are far better Indian restaurants in the area that are worth your time and money.

Not very vegetarian-friendly. You would think that an Indian restaurant would be respectful to vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians, but not in this case. The first visit was ehhh. And that was a while back. Since this was the only buffet in town, we decided to venture it again. I really hate to say it, but wasn’t thrilled. I’ll say that the food quality wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Definite improvements could be made. I did like the naan, however. But what really killed the experience was that one of the appetizers was a fried thing, and it looked like potatoes. Unfortunately it was fish! Don’t get me wrong, for a non-vegetarian, this is a non-issue. But for someone who’s family is vegetarian, be warned! They never labeled it and when my wife asked someone what it was, he said«it looked like potatoes so it’s probably potatoes». Luckily she didn’t try it as we found a few minutes lateer at our table that it wasn’t potatoes but was fish. When we asked the attendee, he gave us the impression that it wasn’t a big deal. Sorry, but that’s not acceptable in the food industry! For the other factors, it was very dark, floors were a bit sticky, and we noticed that some of the silverware was still dirty. I did some additional research and found there inspection report. Read for yourself: So needless to say, we won’t be coming to this place anymore.

Delicious Indian Cuisine! Very flavorful and just all around delicious! We found this place during Hurricane Sandy and the name kind of threw us off, but decided to try it. We are so happy that we have found such a great restaurant. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. My only complaint is the smaller portions and its very expensive… dinner for two costs us roughly 60.00!!! However its very good, would definitely recommend their butter chicken and chicken vindaloo!

The good: food was flavorful and well prepared, the décor was attractive, lots of menu choices. The bad: Service! Was incredibly slow and inattentive.

A good, clean Indian restaurant with an open kitchen where the food is made right in front of you. I like the food at food castle. The naan is always amazing and the vegetarian dishes such as malai kofta and paneer tikka are very good. I also like the baingan bhartha here. Haven’t really tried a lot of the indo-Chinese options but they seemed decent for the most part. The tikkas were delicious, once again these are made in the tandoor clay oven so they taste amazing. We had the vegetarian paneer tikka but I imagine the lamb ad chicken to be just as good. The reason, I am still giving it a 3 star is consistency. I love spicy food and enjoy a challenge however my whole family doesn’t really eat tongue scorching spicy. More than a few times I have gotten take out from her where I couldn’t even taste the food. It’s frustrating because we specifically ask for medium. But at other times the spice level is just perfect. So I will def continue going here but hope they can become a little more consistent.

The food seemed to be authentic, and the heat was scaled down appropriately for my American palate. Portions were great. The Nan was fresh and smokey, it was excellent. With limited options in the area for Indian food, we will be back.

All I can say is… meh. I didn’t have high expectations for this place(it’s an Indian place named«food castle,» and the frontage looks like it could be anything) but I have often found some of the best food in the most surprising locations. When I entered the place, I found my expectations lowering even further. There is no ambiance at all. The food was heavily spiced(as most indian food is), but somehow the taste was… generic? I don’t know, I just left this place wishing that I had never gone in. That way it could have remained as one of those ‘possible’ mysteries in my own head. If you’re in the market for a cheap, harmless, forgettable meal, this place will suit.

Pulling into the parking lot of Food Castle, I was a bit skeptical. There is nothing attractive in the name(nor does it invoke any notion that Indian food awaits inside.) Walking inside, even morseo — the interior is like a bare diner. But it turned out, taking a gamble was worth it. For beginners, you might have difficulty as their menus provide no descriptions as to what you’re looking at so you you’ll just have to wing it ;-) The prices were okay — but the food was very enjoyable, they offered a good variety and the waitstaff was eager to please. The downside was the television playing an Access Hollywood style Indian station. I don’t mind foreign tv in a foreign restaurant — but the volume was BLARING. And half the time staff members straggled out into the dining area to stand around and watch it. Made enjoying a conversation a bit difficult.

We stumbled upon this place by mistake while driving through bensalem. It was a quite a pleasant experience. The food was a bit pricey. But, the taste was well worth it. Being indian, its disappointing many at times at indian restaurants when the food is bland at best. Not so here. Our palates were dancing from the spicy smell and taste. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The décor seemed more like a fast food diner than an indian restaurant.

You would never think this was a great Indian restaurant given the name… Food Castle Express, but it actually is. I love Indian food and this is a place we frequent often because it’s close, it’s not a chain restaurant, it’s beautifully decorated and it has really good Indian food. The naan is baked fresh and it’s soft, chewy and delicious. We always like the vegetable samosa for starters. It’s stuffed and very tasty. For the main dish, I usually order Murgh Saag. I always ask them to make it extra mild but it’s still very hot and I end up drinking a pitcher of water! My husband likes Malai Kofte and Paneer Palak(Spinach), both are very good. The waitstaff is friendly and the restaurant is never crowded so you’re seated immediately. For drinks/dessert, I love the Sweet Lassi and am always craving for more. My husband enjoys drinking the Salted Lassi because it reminds him of a Turkish drink called Ayran. My only complaint is the name. I truly believe if they changed the restaurant name to something other than Food Castle Express, it would attract many more customers.

Update: 8÷24÷2013 — This place is not closed and owned by different owner. some things are still same but south indian food is the worst. This restaurant is in my town and my wife loves Indian food. Before you suspect anything few of my friend used to still working there but i am not bias about my reviews because its not like they pay me anything to write the reviews. Food Ordered: Veg Manchurian Dry, Garlic Noodles, Chicken Tikka Masala, Malai Chicken Tikka, Paneer Katti rool and much more. In general this is a very good Indian restaurant with variety of food.

I’m starting to think the rave reviews must be written by family members of the owner. This is far from a beautiful restaurant .It has unlevel tables with kitchen chairs. The booths are lined up so when the door opens you roast or freeze depending on the time of year. You will be entertained by dumb Indian game shows .My favorite question on the show was how much harder is it for a girl with glasses to make a marriage? Strange but oddly meszmerizing. The food quality has been exactly 50⁄50. Fine 2 out of 4 visits. Twice the buffet was not refilled when emptied. Ho hum food. I don’t know why people would go here when its is nicer, cheaper and much better consistently at Mirch Masala down the road.

I went here for lunch with my best friend yesterday. We are so impressed with this restaurant. Everything about this place is just so right with the exception of the name. Food Castle? I really want to suggest a name change to the management and I know I’m not alone in this. We really loved the layout and design of the restaurant. It was sleek and modern while still retaining the feel of eating someplace on the other side of the world. It had warm mosaic wall tiles in rich warm earthy colors. The lighting was also sick. The menu is huge and everything we ordered was delicious. I started with the Mulligatawny soup and garlic naan. This soup is my favorite and I always try it whenever I have indian food. I think my love of indian food spawns from my love of cilantro. The soup was light and very flavorful with a fine balance between cilantro and curry flavor. Autumn started with vegetable samosas they came pared with two different kinds of chutneys, a sweet brown chutney and a spicier one I think might be made of cilantro and green chillies. I’m going to try to find a recipe for these because they are so so good. We also ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Chili Lamb and Kashmiri Pulao(served buffet style). We love buffets :) Kashmiri Pulao is a fruit based rice pillaff, one of 10 different choices of rice. I chose this one because the description reminded me rice I had in Kuwait on my deployment last year. Not quite the same but still very very good. The service was great very informative and attentive. We were so happy that we decided to check this place out.

FOODCASTLE the epic: for those reading Unilocal while at work and avoiding less fun stuffs. Food Castle isn’t a place I’d normally consider since it looks, from the outside, like an old pizza hut or long john silvers kinda fast food restaurant. But the reviews made me excited I’d found a diamond in the rough so I gathered up my sister who lives nearby and my 4 other friends that are as enthusiastic about indian restaurant discoveries. The Inside is impressive. They’ve clearly sunk some money into the décor, resembling a center city-type chic’ that would easily hold it’s own in old city. The menus were newly printed folded pamphlets in glossy full color but that’s not what got my attention. They had a huge selection of dishes and someone at the table interrupted my wide-eyed reaction by informing me there is a Thai and Chinese menu on the other side. Honestly, that’s a red flag usually. Im still not sure what it all means yet. Our first problem was this expansive menu is mostly in Indian and there’s no explanation or descriptions of dishes. They each have a number though which I find most helpful in china town so that was good. Well, then our server showed up. He was a nice man. A soft spoken man with a posture that exuded kindness and innocence. We all felt tingly in a good way. So naturally we felt we could ask questions to satisfy questions about the menu. Um, he really didn’t know what we were saying. We made our best attempts and ordered some appetizers and a couple types of Naan. They were great. My sister chanced ordering a creamy mango drink that was really great. My friend got the other version called«sweet». Both were great and passed around. So we order food and get lots of great dishes that seemed a bit pricey. Most dishes were $ 16.95 and rice had to be ordered for $ 6.95(which served 2). We were a little surprised to have to pay for rice. Eh. Well, at first I found myself in bliss. The food was really tasty. The shrimp curry was spicy, really spicy. The lamb kadai was just right and almost smoky, which nice big cubes of tender lamb. I tried some other dishes passed around and it was really fun. Unfortunately there were two of us let down and it became apparent within minutes. First of all, my sister doesnt eat red meat and my friend ordered his own lamb dish. We asked which dishes were which when the server brought em out. He looked like deer caught in headlights. It was one of those situations like: «is this chicken?» and he’d return a blank stare and hesitate long enough for that comedic genius we see in a good comedy to finally reply«um, …yes?». Well in reality she was given the lamb dish and my friend got her dish(maybe) which had a couple different looking meats. One piece picked out resembled pork, but that couldn’t be, could it? The lamb dish, after nearly entering my sisters mouth, arrived in front of it’s rightful orderer(is that a word?). My friend discovered there was no lamb though, it was a bowl of lamb bones. Seriously, there wasn’t more than an ounce of lamb meat. Nearly every piece he picked out was all bone. Getting the server’s answer to the cause of this was soon discovered mission impossible. So we aimed for getting it off the bill at least. He offered to bring«new». We offered not to pay for it. He figured out eventually what we were saying. He agreed. It was a shame though. Those two people wouldn’t likely ever go there again due to the server’s ineptitude. Clearly the neighborhood’s Indian population is the real target audience. I personally dont need to go back there. My favorite place is in Bristol, Café Bombay, and I live near Etar in fishtown. Both are better, and cheaper.
