How can a park district dog park be closed on a sunny Sunday afternoon? We followed the arrow to the large dog park; when we got there it was actually the small dog park. Problem 1: wrong signage. Even so, it was closed. The gates were padlocked shut. It looked mowed and clean from behind the fence. Problem 2: closed park with no warning or posted hours during prime dog walking weather.

It all depends on the dogs that are there and the owners. Went on Sunday and it did not go well. One dog was not good. It jumped my dog. A owner of other dog or dog trainer got all upset because my dog who is still a puppy jumped on him. It is a dog park!!! The guy actually made me uneasy. I have gone when the dogs and owners were good. There is a women that comes that has flat coated retrievers. She and her dog were nice as well as her friends.

This dog park is pretty nice. It’s a little bit hard to find. Another review on here explains how to find it. In the big dog park, under one of the two gates, there is a space big enough for a medium-small sized dog to crawl under. That should be fixed. If you weren’t paying attention, your dog could get in the entry area and escape when the next person came in.

The small dog park is dangerous for small dogs! there is an opening under the gate at the back of the park large enough for dogs in the weight range that can go to that park to scoot under. My mini schnauzer was halfway under the gate before I got there to retrieve him and from there it’s a short trip to Concord Road. I expect a dog park to actually contain off-leash dogs so I was surprised my dog could so easily escape. If you take your small dog there, be sure and watch it closely or you will be in danger of losing it.

This is really great dog park. It’s very nice, rather new, and the dog park itself is well thought out. It has large separate areas for big and small dogs with lots of neat decorations and nice covered seating. The areas are even separated by enough distance to prevent endless cross fence barking. The main thing I don’t like though is that someone really wasn’t thinking when they decided on the location of the park… it’s completely on the other side of Tower Park, hidden away, and a good half mile from any parking. Anyone who has over owned an easily excited dog knows that walking on a leash a half mile to a dog park is a recipe for a potential unpleasant time. Dogs are always super excited to go to the park and mega hyped to interact with other dogs. Having to trek that far to the park with dogs on a leash is torture for them. To make matters worse, even with the map provided by the city of Brentwood, the dog park is incredibly hard to find. There are no signs that I can see… my only salvation was to find other people walking dogs and follow them. It’s beyond me why a dog park this nice is hidden away so far from parking and in an unmarked location… it’s almost like they didn’t want it to be used. Now that I know how to get there and what to expect I’ll come back just for how spacious and nice the facilities are.
