The name changed for this place. It is now Maria’s Kusina Panciteria de Manila… whew! wow why the long name change? Did Mami King didn’t sound kingly royalty enough? or did your Mami tell you do so!!! Anyways I’ve already made a review of Maria’s and their Savory Fried Chicken with Java Rice was liked by me! Would I come back here? I would, due to the fact the meal here was good and I was satisfied with the portion I got. Also that where I live now this is closest to me for Fiip food. Friendly service here and you can bring large parties in here as well. P. S. If you care about the feedback I gave about this place with their updated restaurant name change of Maria’s Kusina Panciteria de Manila… check it, check it, out!

Was looking for a place to eat decent soup since everyone goes to phở during these cold weather, so i figured i hit up something different. My wife got their Goto(rice soup) n I ordered their Mami King special which had thin noodles, beef, shredded chicken, and dumplings. Food was good, it hit the spot. Downside to this place is they only accept cash and walking in it seem like a place that needed more employees to be able to handle a lot of people. Overall experience was alright.

We’ve been craving for Mami King when we were in Mission Viejo but now I’m actually living in Buena Park. We used to go to the West Covina branch but it’s kinda far from here. I’m so psyched up when I saw this place while my mom was driving. We tried eating dinner at this place and oh boy the food was excellent. I couldn’t choose what to eat at first because they have a lot of menu. We ordered the Fried Chicken, Mami King special noodles, siomai and of course their famous siopao. The fried chicken was really good and I can’t stop eating the siomai. My mom and dad on the other hand did not like the siomai as much as I do but we still have to get extra siomai for to-go. My dad ordered the noodles and he said it tasted like and authentic Filipino noodles which he loved. Their siopao was average though. There’s nothing special about it. Because my dad worships soups, we went to this place often for three weeks. Every single time, I order the siomai and chicken. The spaghetti was delicious but the sauce was not very thick. I will surely go back to this place but my folks got tired of it.

A-Ok. I tried the MK Chicken which is prob. what they are known for… but it was just ok. The portions are small and the chicken was a bit dry. But I will still come back and try something else. Got to have… CRISPYPATAS! Btw, bring your CASH!

I LOVEMAMIKING!!! It makes me so sad that no one is ever there when I eat it. I’ve loved Mami King ever since I can remember. I was born in Torrance so my parents always took me to the Carson location. We know the owner, Tita Janet, unless it’s not her family anymore, but anyways I freakin love this place! Best siopao and mami HANDSDOWN. I don’t care what anybody says, chow king can suck it. Of course there are a few things that have changed like their menu definitely got bigger, the soup is a little different, they don’t have crushed garlic on your table anymore but other than that, Mami King will always be my number one. Well, I should take that back. The Carson Mami King will always be my number one for sentimental reasons but I also love the La Palma one bc it’s closer to me now :) Beef Mami, fried wontons, and pork asado siopao are the truth!!! How dare people not come to this restaurant?! I am furious.

To many people, they might not have best siopao, but I’ve been eating their siopao since I was a little kid and these hit home for me. I recently discovered this location(thank goodness because I live in Cerritos). Pork asado is my go-to siopao here. I LOVE the flavor of the filling as well as the siopao sauce to go along with it. What I’m not a huge fan of is the bun of the siopao. My perfect siopao would be the pork filling and sauce from here, and the bun from chow king. OVERALL: Let’s just say when i’m craving a siopao, this is the place I think of. Like I always say, YOUWON’T KNOWUNLESSYOUTRYITFORYOURSELF!

Had their Savory Chicken. So everyone says its the best thing to get but it was alright. Chicken needs to be seasoned more. the only good thing about it was that it was deep fried in peanut oil. cant go wrong with that. will give place another try one day. This place doesnt really pop up when its time for lunch if you know what i mean.

[3.5 stars] Summary: — Service — sweet and friendly — Food — just okay, nothing spectacular — Price — CHEAP!!! — Ambiance — louder than average music lol, glad its not folk but hip music — CASHONLY ******* SERVICE: No one in the bloody right state of mind would care about Ritz service when shelling out the minimum price for food unless they qualify as a derp. So I’m not going to bother talking about this. She’s friendly and she’s there — PERIOD. ******* FOOD: I usually give extra points to places that give a good portion of food for under $ 8…ESPECIALLY at dinner time. So while the food isn’t mind blowing OR spectacular… I’ll throw it out there this way. — Fried chicken [ was yeah, somewhat bland. Name one sit-in place that serves half a chicken with two scoops of rice for $ 7 that isn’t bland. Oh wait, I forgot they have an extra sweet sauce on the side that I’m glad they didn’t cover it with. Chinese spices is a little misleading… because my question is… WHICHONE? [Did you mean just a pinch of salt or a dab of soy sauce? lol] — Sisig [ — lol, not exactly the original… nowhere close to perfect… but I swallowed it after dumping enough lime-juice-in-the-table-condiment-bottle into it. Mostly diced fatty pork with onions… with some traces of crispy skin and«sisig» flavors? — Beef & Chicken Mami [ — broth is comforting… and different. When you crave it and need it, this will do. Slightly on the saltier side but no complaints there. ******* I wouldn’t drive a good distance for this place BUT I’d gladly stop by for dinner when in the area and craving some«mom-pop-wannabe-restaurant-style» Filipino food [aka sari-sari store food joint].

The fried chicken was very unexciting with the taste mostly on the outside and very bland under the skin. The meat was overcooked Where did those special blend of Chinese spices go? Same story with the Pancit Palabok and the Tokwat Baboy. The waitress seemed seemed inattentive and available for service only if they happen to pass by on their way to another table. Did not make it worth the 27 mile drive.

This review will hurt me deeply… But first, lets focus on the positive. Their palabok is very good, some of the best in the area. Their chicken combo with java rice is also very good. Its prepared very fast,(I’m guessing its par cooked beforehand) the skin is crispy and delicious and the bird is moist throughout. Now to the pain and sadness. If you want a bowl of good soup… get phở. I’m very sorry my Filipino brethren and sisteren, but its the truth. It’s not that this place makes bad mami, but when you have so many competitors who put out a similar product, it’s hard to be memorable. The ingredients they use for the mami are pretty good, but the broth is a little lacking in the flavor department. Maybe change the name to Palabok King or Chicken with Java Rice King? Peace and good eats!

Their miki bihon is the best one I tasted so far here in socal. Savory chicken with java rice is good too. For siopao, bola-bola is much more better than pork asado. Not so good: mami, pares, lumpia shanghai, lechon kawali. Cash only. Wait time for food is 15mins, they should have tfc so customer will not be bored waiting.

Mami king mami king. «ayoko mami king! gusto ko lion king!» lol that will forever be my favorite memory about mami king. anywho about the food. you got the different types of mami’s. I prefer the chicken mami with wontons. I used to get the special mami with the beef. but the beef taste funky. The chicken plate… ummm do not order! it was super dry. nothing special. even if it weren’t dry, the flavor isnt the greatest. my mom came make it better! the jazz rice wasnt all the good either. even that was dry. for those that don’t know waht jazz rice is. its the filipino version of mexican rice ithink. haha its just tomato flavored rice. when it is made correctly, its amazing! but mami king… you are not the king. the siopao is good. well the asado is good. im not a fan of the bulalo siopao. the dipping sauce is good but they dont give you enough. i think the one in carson is a lot better. the only good thing about htis location is that its a lot bigger. however their servers suck. they don’t really wait on you. if you want anything after you have ordered, you are just gonna have to get up and ask for it because they just hang out behind the counter, chatting and gossiping away. leave the tsismis at home!

What we ordered: Pancit Palabok Savory Chicken Java Rice Beef with Wonton Mami Bola-Bola siopao The palabok, chicken and mami was delicious. The java rice sucked. Nothing extraordinary. Can’t believe they charge more for it, we should’ve just ordered plain white rice. I ordered Bola-Bola siopao to go, but ended up eating it there coz they heated it up & just wrapped it with a napkin and put it in a doggy bag. I was surprised. They could’ve at least put it in a styro or a container first THEN put it in the doggy bag. Ugh. That was so unsanitary. Plus, the siopao didn’t taste good. Goldilocks, Red Ribbon and Chowking have better tasting siopao.

I stumbled upon this place amidst the fire in Anaheim yesterday, looking for a place to eat before going in to Knott’s Berry Farm. Anyways the 3 stars. That’s because it’s only ok for me. I’ve tasted alot of mami’s before and the mami is just so-so in my opinion and the siopao is kind of stale. They also charge you extra for take-out. What kind of restaurant would do that? This place I guess. Good thing I don’t live in Buena Park coz I definitely won’t be back.

very simple, cheap but is really yummy. I don’t care what my(white) boyfriend says no matter how small the Siomai is… I’d buy it even if it were sold for $ 10(they sell it for less than $ 2 i think) The people are very nice, equally attentive and very friendly. The food is awesome! Other than the tasty noodles(mamis) they have, they also have those yummy Savory Chicken! Those go well with the Java Rice and the house Soup. Whenever I’m broke, the Java Rice and the soup does the work for me… I don’t know what’s in that soup but damn I love it! ROTFL! It sucks that they kind of have a ‘segregated’ location that not many people can see it but yeah! I love Mami King! VERYYUMMY!

I had the dumpling noodle soup, it was quite disappointing! The won ton skins were all broken and the soup was very salty. And while I was eating, the girls that worked there were talking about their previous customers not leaving enough tip for them. Really that was quite unprofessional.

yes there is Mami King in Buena Park… so convenient too. Inside is reminiscent of Magic Wok. It is located in the Albertson’s shopping center, next to a liquor store, Jack in a Box, and laundromat(which i go to when the washer is broken) and a car wash. Located on the cross streets of La Palma and Knott… Mami King is the ONLY place my family has been to, to buy SIOPAO, or steamed pork buns. dunno how healthy these things are, but its like a sandwich to go, that you put in the microwave for 10 seconds, and youre good for a quick lunch or breakfast(if you get bola bola, with the egg, which i dont). Usually there’s a long wait after 5, people buying some for dinner i suppose… nice to know that buena park is slowly adding more Filipino places to the area…
