We ordered shrimp fried rice which showed clearly to have some wood-ear mushrooms in the photo menu. We asked the waitress why the dish was brought to us without such. The following shows our conversation: Waitress: Our recipe has removed that ingredient a year ago because our customers are 70% non-Chinese and they do not like that. Customer: We are new to your restaurant. My husband ordered that dish based on your photo menu. He loves wood-ear mushrooms. Could you include that ingredient? Waitress: We do not have it. we do not carry it. Customer: Are you sure? But your menu has it in many other dishes. Waitress: We do not have it. we do not carry it. Customer: It is best to have it in fried rice, I really wish to have it. Can I talk to your boss. Waitress: Our boss is not in today. Customer: Can I talk to your manager. Waitress: Our manager is not in. Customer: So there is no one in charge. Then the waitress suddenly grabbed the dish, caught my husband totally by surprise when he was trying to taste the food. In less than 5 minutes, the dish was brought back to us with wood-ear mushrooms in there. Although they refunded us for that dish, but I have no appetite anymore. It’s not about menu, it’s not about food taste, it’s all about the attitude, especially to Chinese speaking customers. I felt I was a secondary customer in a very typical Chinese noodle house.

I wish I could give better rating that his because they tried hard. We are arrived around 7pm on Saturday night. Finding a parking spot was nightmare but I eventually found one close by. Service was good, and our order was brought out quick but there was a setback. Fellow Unilocaler Sam L. said on his review«Either its salty or it’s not. Bland and or it’s over seasoned.» This was the same on my visit here. I ordered spring roll and they were seasoned well but fried rice, Xiao Long Bao and dumpling were all bland tasting. If they become more consistent in kitchen, I wouldn’t hesitate to bump up the score.

THEGOOD: 1) Tasty vegetarian dumplings filling: Props for using pickled veggies in the filling and not just relying on mushrooms to give it flavor. The end result was delicious and complex even before dipping into the soy sauce and vinegar. 2) Good amount of choices for vegetarians, which is not easy in a Shanghai/Taiwan restaurant that is not specifically vegetarian. 3) Cute, clean space with a non-sticky floor and a high ceiling so that it doesn’t get stuffy. 4) They use actual, relatively high quality tea leaves in their tea. I know this sounds trivial, but having a decent cup of tea makes all the difference when cleansing your palate. THECOULDBEBETTER: 1) Noodles are not made in house. Sorry not sorry, but if you’re going to put«noodle» in the name of your restaurant you sure as hell better be making your own dang noodles. Noodles were still decent and chewy, but doesn’t have the same bounciness and taste as when made fresh. 2) Thick vegetarian dumpling skin: I’m actually a bit on the fence with this one. On one hand, the thick skin shows that the dough is made from scratch, which I appreciate. And I did enjoy the chewiness of it at first. After a while, however, it was a bit overwhelming and the parts where the dumplings are creased toc close in the filling was particularly doughy and could be hard to chew. 3) This isn’t *really* the restaurant’s fault, but parking here is a nightmare. Located right across from the Cerritos mall and across from Lucille’s BBQ, it’s CROWDED, the spaces are tiny and there’s always a traffic jam in the parking lot. You may have better luck if you go in through the back instead of at the entrance by Lucille’s, but even then you might have to wait a while just to park and just to leave the complex when you’re done. OVERALL: A decent find and still a good contribution to the culinary scene in the Cerritos/Long Beach area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here. If they made their own noodles, refined their dumpling techniques, and adopted a more creative name, it could easily be a destination spot. For now, they will probably just continue to rely on the outgoing mall traffic to fill their tables.

Tasty Noodle House is a relatively new addition to the fancy/revitalized shopping centers popping up in C-town. TNH is a Tawainese resto that offers a variety of dishes — from xiao long bao(soup dumplings), noodle dishes, to seafood/beef/chicken options. The décor is nice and modern and everything still looks new and clean. Service here is efficient. We’ve tried the deep fried seaweed batter fish filets(super tasty, but a bit greasy), pan fried noodles with chicken(solid and good for the kiddos), pan fried pork buns(tasty, but thick outer breading is overwhelming), salt and pepper calamari(underwhelming and not crisp), pork xiao long bao(decent, but the soup has usually all leaked out), fried rice(good not great), and green onion pancake(on-point, flavorful and crispy). Prices are reasonable and there are lots more dishes we’d like to try. Oh, and if you spend $ 20 or more, they will give you 6 pieces of pork xiao long bao on the house! We will def be back to sample some more items. Adding this to the Cerritos rotation!

Just had dinner here tonight for Mother’s Day since we’ve never tried this place out and not wanting to deal with the long wait times at most places. We were seated right away and there was only 1 other party inside when we arrived so that was a nice thing. We ordered 4 things off their menu which consisted of Seafood noodle soup BBQ pork and tofu skin Pork buns Seafood with rice cake and bean sprouts We got a free appetizer for whatever reason and were allowed to choose whatever was on their menu so not wanting to make the server wait too long I chose this steamed chicken with sesame oil since it was meat and why choose a veggie appetizer right? WRONG! If only I knew how bad this dish was I would’ve gladly opted for a veggie dish instead. It looks good when it arrived but when my family and I ate it we were appalled by the lack of doneness in the chicken. There was plenty of blood to be seen on some of it and I didn’t like the lack of flavor and seasoning in this dish. Since we got this free I didn’t bother complaining to the server. Next came the bbq pork and tofu skin. This was much more edible than the horrible chicken but the bbq pork wasn’t cooked to my preference and it had way too much fat on it. The tofu skin was ok and there was some flavor to it. The pork buns came out next which was interesting since these were grilled on the bottom. They are sprinkled with black sesame seeds and scallions. The flavor of the pork inside was a bit lacking in seasoning so I had to put soy sauce in it. I don’t remember the exact name of the next dish but it had a mix of seafood with rice cake and bean sprouts with black pepper. This was probably by far the best dish we ordered for the night. Seasoning was much better and the flavor wasn’t too shabby. Our last dish was the seafood noodle soup. If I could sum it up in 1 word it would be disappointing. Seriously this place does not know how to season their food at all. Bland bland bland. The broth was one of the worst things I have tasted this year and even though it came with shrimp and scallops they still couldn’t save dish poor dish. I had to take my noodles out of the bowl and put soy sauce in it to make it somewhat edible. On top of that when we got our first pot of tea it wasn’t hot at all! Barely warm is the right word for it and my first cup of tea ended up being cold. Our 2nd batch was a little better but the taste of the tea to me was somewhat odd tasting. The décor was ok but the floors were pretty dirty. I don’t get the 4 – 5 star reviews. I left hugely disappointed and definitely will not return here again.

–Don’t order to go here. So I have been thinking if I should left this one star review here. I used to love this place a lot. Good food, nice staff. And I have ordered a lot to go from this place. However they really disappointed me in my recent two visits. Several weeks ago, I ordered their vegetarian chicken(appetizer) for to go. And when I got home, I found out that the dish has a sour smell. And it has an unusual wierd taste. I thought that this shouldn’t happen again. So I visit them. todag and ordered their house rice wine chicken. When I got home, I found out that all I got are broken chicken pieces with broken chicken bones. The dish looks like someone’s leftover!(SEEMYPICTUREATTACHED) It feels like there is only half portion compare with what you got as usual. They did put some peanuts inside(which they used dont) so that the dish wont looks so pathetic.

One thing that may be automatically misleading about this place is that it looks like a café environment, however the portions are more set up for family style. I would come here with at least a group of 4. Food overall is decent. Nothing that is to die for delicious, but decent for the price. One caveat, I wish service can be better for such a nice décor. You’ll see your waiter at beginning and at the end of meal.

We have been here three times and I immediately fell in love with the food. Rice was awesome l, chow mien is flavored wonderfully. Soup was spot on and they threw some dumplings in for free. Ordered the fruit hot tea, it was awesome! Slurped down a pot and they immediately refilled. Overall first impression was hit out of the park. And i couldn’t wait to come back. Next visit was ok. Food still great but service was hampered by how crowded it was. They were pretty busy, and the food took a little long, tea was really late in coming. Still good on refills of tea though. Food was still on point but I was concerned about the wait. Came in today, food still outstanding. Great shrimp chow mien, shrimp basil fried rice, shrimp wonton soup(my daughter is a shrimp fiend, can u tell?). Services, however continued their decline. Tea was very late, in fact food came first(and that took 30 min). They weren’t even busy this time. And the tea refill was just some hot water, where before they would bring tea that was steeped and ready. I love the food here, but the service was so off that I don’t think we will be returning.

I got the shrimp noodle soup, and my husband got the won ton soup. The broth sucked(it tasted like yucky water), and the broth was the same for both soups. We had to put soy sauce and chili sauce to make it taste just decent(aka edible). There is really nice furniture, and the ambiance is nice(despite the smell of mold/mustiness and cleaner). But the food does not match the environment. The service — ehh, it was all right. The server just asked, «Ok, what do you want?» I honestly wouldn’t come here again. The taste of the food wouldn’t be worth it. I don’t know why this place has an average of 4 stars.

The beef noodle soup had flavor but it was extremely salty. The onion garlic beef noodle was super bland. The dumplings were perfect. The food overall was nothing impressive. Definitely a noodle lovers dream but not the highest in quality and in flavors. Either its salty or it’s not. Bland and or it’s over seasoned. Inconsistencies equal confusion and I don’t really care to come back either. I can see why people might like this place. Good place for a quick bite and maybe date night. Cheap, two can eat for under $ 20 so that is a bargain. The service was okay. The place is modern and neat, clean and new. It can get crowded but just really not my cup-o-tea. I’ve had some really good beef noodle soup and this one just missed the mark. To end on a positive note — they did load up on the beef in their soup.

Where was this place when we lived nearby? Really enjoyed the seaweed fish and the eggplant dish. We also had the braised pork belly… a little TOO fatty(I know, I know, it’s pork belly duh) but there was barely any meat on the few slices I had. Service is quick and yes it’s true. If you order $ 20+, you get a free tray of juicy pork dumplings!

This is a decent Taiwanese restaurant. It is located in a large plaza with a lot of other restaurants and it took awhile to find parking. We came on a Saturday evening so that might be why it was so busy. Luckily there was not a wait to be seated at the restaurant though. After we ordered, the waitress said we can pick a free appetizer which was really nice. I think it’s because we ordered over $ 20. My favorite item here is the xiao long bao. We also got a pork bun which tasted just like the xiao long bao but larger and without the soup inside. The bun was also very thick and I didn’t think it had a good ratio of bun to meat. Other than that, I think the dish would have be very good. The vegetable pork rice cake was another dish we got and I thought the dish was a bit bland. It tasted a little better after adding some pepper. The restaurant is very clean and the service is great here!

Now that we live in Long Beach, it’s hard to find a good Asian bistro that lives up to the 626 area. This place is pretty comparable. The boo and I came here on a Friday night around 9:20p for a late dinner. We ordered seafood crab noodle soup, which they switched the pork broth to vegetable and it still tasted awesome!($ 10.99), fish dumplings($ 7.99), and green onion pancake($ 3.25) and two lemon ice teas. If you spend over $ 20 you get a free item off the appetizer menu. We ordered the jelly fish. Everything tasted delicious and made us very happy! The only downside is that they close at 10p and no refills on the lemon ice tea. Boo! We will definitely be back!

This place was just okay. The service was okay. The ladies there were nice. I may try it once more just to see if I went on a bad day. I had the Kung Pao Chicken Noodle Soup. The noodles were too soft. The chicken was flavorful but the broth changed the texture of the chicken. It had a mushy mouth feel. I think the chicken was fried and then placed in the broth. We ordered appetizers but they came out after our entrees. We ordered the calamari. It was not crunchy. It was soggy. It was also under seasoned. They have a special if you order over $ 20 you get free dumplings. Again, no wow factor here. The dumplings didn’t have much flavor and there was little juice in the dumplings.

They offer you a free drink: o Instantly fell in love hahha jk but they offered the choice of green tea, lemon tea, thai tea, or milk tea. All good choices, I went with thai tea which they said was on the sweeter side. Yes, more on the sugary side, less on the tea side. Food was amazing! Went with the standard beef noodle soup since it was my first time. The meat chunks are hugeee and there’s a lot. I’m pretty sure we did it all wrong and you’re supposed to share this thing lol. The noodles were a type of egg noodle, i think, but they were good by themselves as well. The meat was cooked so perfectly, it fell apart easily when you bit it but not too overly cooked so it just falls apart when you pick it up. They also left the fat on. I like that but you may not. Adds flavor in my opinion! I thought the Pork buns tasted good and they were cooked pretty. perfectly; a nice toasted, crunchy sesame bottom with a soft overall bun exterior. The pork filling on the inside however was just a tad lacking in pork to bun ratio. The bun thickness overpowered the flavor of the pork in my opinion. Still a tasty dish though! Good with the vinegar too :3 Sidenote: Arrived around 11:30 and it was empty! At around 12 the lunch rush really stepped up and it was ridiculously packed!

11÷26÷15: Came here on Thanksgiving as soon as they opened, since we just wanted a quick, cheap, bite to eat before slaving away for The Big Dinner. This place hit the spot, but I wouldn’t say it’s anything special except for that one singular item(see below). But it met our requirements and fueled us for the day. 1. Seaweed Cucumber Salad $ 6.99: Pretty good. Well, it’s somewhat basic: cucumber, garlic, seaweed. But typically you just have the seaweed and garlic. The cucumber does make it far more exciting. Kinda expensive for what you get though. 6⁄10 2. Shanghai Style Chow Mein(Thick) $ 7.99: Just noodles stir fried with some leafy veggie. Some sauce mixed in. Noodles had good texture. But overall not that special. 5.5÷10. 3. Shanghai Xiao Long Bao(8pc) $ 7.50: A little disappointed here. The skin was not that refined with variation in thickness a little mushiness in some areas. The meat inside was tasty and had a very good amount of «soup». Would give a higher score if the skin was better. 5⁄10 4. #24 Shanghai Grilled Pork Bun(8pc) $ 8.50: WOW. This is the MUSTGET. They look pretty as served, sprinkled with green onions and black sesame. But what makes this one a little different(from what I’ve had before) is the generous coverage of the fried bottom with white sesame. It does something, I can feel it. Unlike the xiao long bao, the bread is a good thickness here. But the best part is the inside – TONS of «soup»!!! I mean, I’ve never had these fried bao’s with so much juice! The meat’s good too. I love these. 9⁄10 I should note, though Unilocal says this is «Taiwanese» I would say just barely. There really isn’t any of the typical Taiwanese dishes like my favorite, the so-called«meatball»(meat inside a gelatinous translucent shell with pink sauce on top.) So, ignore that. I can see the«Shanghainese» part more. #chinese #shanghainese #xiaolongbao #bao #dumplings

I will say that I was pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. I am particular about my Asian food and this place exceeded my expectations. When I walked in, I was seated right away. I guess this was due to being by myself. I sat down and was immediately attended to. There was no waiting for a few minutes and then the server comes up and asks ’ Good evening, welcome, what would you like to drink tonight?”. Nope. Right away. Bam. I asked for a water and that gave me a little time to peruse the menu and I ended up ordering a lychee slushy and a seafood basil chow mein. The slushy took a few minutes to come to the table. It tasted good, but I could have done with a little less ice. No matter. It was a warm night out(I mean, come on– it’s L.A.- when is it NOT hot?!). Then my chow mein came. I took one bite and man, that basil gave it such a different but welcomed taste that I took a few seconds to savor it before diving into it like a bear with a picnic basket. There was a myriad of seafood in it– scallops, shrimp, octopus, and crab(?). It was really good. I’ll go back and have that dish again. The service was great. They were polite despite it being crowded on a Saturday night. I hope that they would be able to make some modifications for my wife since she is a vegetarian. I could ask if the meat or seafood could be served on the side. Other places are able to do that for her. If Tasty Noodle House can do that, it will be my absolute favorite go to for Chinese!!!

I really like noodles and dumplings. Good thing Tasty Noodle House was near the Cerritos mall so I could get my noodle fix! It’s in the same parking lot as Lucille’s and Frostbites. This is not the plaza with Gen or 85 Degrees. Parking here sucks, but I guess it’s not as bad as the one by Gen. The ambiance is not what you’d expect from a Taiwanese/Chinese restaurant. I love the light colors and décor in here. It feels clean. They even have pillows on their booth seats. What I tried here last time I visited: Tasty Noodle House’s version of jajjangmyeon. For those of you who do not know what that is, it’s a really good noodle dish with black bean sauce that literally looks black. However, I don’t think they use black bean. it tasted too sweet like hoisin sauce. I believe they call it the House Special Noodle $ 7.25. While it’s not the authentic kind, it still tasted good for a noodle dish. I wouldn’t call it jajjangmyeon though. I also tried the spicy fish rice dish $ 7.99. I love fish filet, but they could have made this dish spicier. I had leftovers and still enjoyed them the next day for lunch! A plus about this restaurant is that they will serve a dish of Xiao long bao if you spend over $ 20. During my visit, they took so long to come out that I just got it to-go. I liked how they packed a little container of vinegar and some ginger.(I don’t recommend eating XLB cold.) I thought their XLB was good; there was nothing spectacular about it. Next time I’ll try the wonton with the spicy sauce. Their service is good; waitresses are friendly. I would have appreciated if they told us that they messed up on one of our orders. It took them so long to get the soup dish ready. I didn’t find out until I had to ask them to pack it up. Note: some of them speak English!

My friends and I visited Tasty Noodle House for the first time last night. I came in around 630p and easily got a table for three. From first impression, it was super clean in the dining room which makes me wonder why they have a «B» grade in the window. Hopefully their kitchen isn’t too much of a mess… We ordered the beef with black bean sauce, yang chow fried rice, salt and pepper calamari, shanghai pork buns, and an order of xiao long bao. Because we ordered more than $ 20 worth of food, we got a free order of xiao long bao. Yum yum. So all that was a lot of food for 3 people! The beef was really tasty and the calamari is very flavorful. I was slightly disappointed with the xiao long bao. The meat is a bit bland and it left me searching for more flavor despite dipping it in the soy sauce /vinegar. The skins are also a bit too thick for my liking. However, the broth was pretty good! I can tell that the pork buns are pretty popular but I thought the filling was also bland. I like the crispness of the pork bun skin but wasn’t too impressed by it. Service checked up on us regularly but stopped checking in once the restaurant started filling up with more parties. They do serve pitchers of Sapporo for $ 12! Not bad because one pint is $ 4. All in all, food is nothing special. It’s decent if you’ve never had anything better like Mama Lu’s or Din Tai Fung to compare it to but I’d rather just drive to those places. However, if you’re staying in Cerritos and choosing between Tasty Noodle House and Northern Café, choose here!

My friend and I both ordered noodle soups here. The bowls were huge! I had the fish noodle soup in the clear broth and it had a good amount of fish. My friend had the crab seafood soup served on a burner, which had a more rich soup base. Both were good — it just depends on what kind of a soup you are craving. The standout for me here were the noodles. At a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese places, the noodles will usually get soggy and limp if you don’t finish your noodle soup fast enough. The noodles here were chewy and I somehow managed to finish the whole huge bowl of them! Their pan fried pork buns were juicy and delicious! Definitely get those. The décor of the place is surprisingly hip with mint wall décor and nice patterns for pops of color. Having all white plates and tea sets also makes for a clean feel(and nice photos ;)). Bumping them up to 5 stars is the free order of xiao long bao for spending $ 20, which is easy if you are eating with a friend. With so much food already, you most likely won’t be able to finish it but it’s nice to take home to have the next day :)
