I will admit, the prices were not anything to complain about. However, I was very disappointed in the fact that this place does not welcome its customers with free chips y salsa. I mean, what is this? Where’s the love? Where’s the hospitality? Okay, well, love was certainly made with those tacos and guacamole because those two dishes sent my tastebuds into paradise tonight. I love you Los Comales, only after 10pm though because Tio Luis is closed.

This place has solid, cheap, fast Mexican food in a no frills spot. Actually, I would elevate it from solid to very, very good. All of their locations have a slightly different menu. If anyone working there is reading this… PLEASE bring the Carne En Su Jugo soup from the E. Chicago location to this location! I would be there every week!!! :) Mmm thanks!

What I like about Comales is that you can get real simple authentic food fast and inexpensive. For less than $ 9, I got a gordita, 2 tacos and a Coke! You can’t beat that my friends! I’ve been to many Comales for many years and the food is good and comforting. I always order tacos a side of sliced avocado and an orchata. Occasionally I order a torta. :) this time around, a gordita was calling my name. I ordered one al pastor with everything. Wow! It was deliciously good and it was steaming hot. I think I will be eating more of these now.

When I moved into the area, I was so happy to find Los Comales. Hulking, well priced burritos and tortas with quick service was a godsend considering their late hours and proximity to the CTA orange line. But, that was about two years ago and since then Los Comales has consistently failed me. The prices hiked, and that’s fine, the burritos are huge after all, but then the service got worse, the food wasn’t as consistent, and I realized it’s nearly impossible to have a nice dinner inside the place. Blaring TVs make it impossible to even hear yourself chew, so since I live nearby, I only ordered take-out. That was, until I found an avocado sticker in my burrito and that was the end of my Los Comales eating. It was a one-time incident and I had gone there many times before, but it was the last straw for me on the downward trend this restaurant is experiencing.

I use to like Los Comales but they are skimping on their food. The tacos I ordered of steak were very greasy. I ordered a bean and cheese gordita and it tastes like it had been reheated, it was not made fresh and almost stale like. I did not like anything that I ordered. I won’t be going back.

unbeleivable Cesina tacos. Best in the city, and for some reason they are the best at this location!

Great food! Fast service! Small tacos, but TASTY! I am seriously here at LEAST once a week and I live no where in the neighborhood. This Los Comales has thee best limonada ever!(Lemonade) … sweet, so don’t expect summer sun lemonade… but I LOVE it. My boyfriend hates it. Their Jamaica is great too. No, that’s not grape juice. Its Jamaica. Their al pastor is to die for! LOVEIT! And as many times as Ive been here the last 3 years, I never noticed they have chorizo tacos. DOUBLEYUM! Just when I thought I couldn’t love this place anymore! Their chicharron gorditas are so good too! Now, I’m Mexican. And Ive dined at Mexican restaurants on the North side of the city, the south, the east, and the west. Even nasty places like Taco Burrito King. But this is a place I would DEFINATELY take a drive for. Downside? I LOVE the pickled cauliflower. Dine in and the cauliflower is all you can eat. Take it to go? 3 pieces in a small bag cost you an extra 50 cents. And no refills. So order a large.

Great food, and right next to the 35/Archer CTA Orange(Midway) Line! I was one of the few non-Spanish speaking customers there, but I felt at home, and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! The Burritos were filling and amazing, though one thing I found inconvenient was that they didn’t offer soft drink refills(so I ordered the large).

The tacos here are pretty sweet, but the meat can be dry. However, their tortas, so good. The service was on point, even though they kept speaking to me in Spanish due to my tan skin – seriously. However, I feel as though that is part of the experience, if I’m eating their food I would like to be immersed in their culture. It was never a hindrance and when I spoke in English they responded in English. We had a sweet older woman serving us who was very friendly and funny.

I was a big fan of this place until the last few months. Their meat must be coming from a different source now because it is not the same anymore. It has alot of fatty hard meat as if they are trying to cut corners. This is the same problem with their other locations.

Comales is nothing fancy but it is good food for cheap and it is the best place to hit up after a night out. Late nights seems to be their busiest times. Grab some tacos or a torta. An horchata or jamaica to wash it down and you are set.

¿Qué dijo?! If you’re ignorant to the Spanish language that means, «say what!?»(I used Google translate so not sure if it’s legit. lol Anywho, I’ve been living in Mexico, ummm, I mean McKinley park for almost 3 years now and NEVER even noticed the place… It is right down the street from my son’s daycare too. Boy was I missing out. Not any more! Ordered the pollo(chicken) burrito and as Dora the Explorer would say«DELICIOSO’!! Not the typical greasy spanish fair that you get at most mexican restaurants in the area. It was huge and all I could eat was half but it was the best chicken burrito ever! I will be back as soon as I can afford the calories and post some opinions on some other dishes…

«LIQUADODEPLATANO Y TORTADEPOLLOSINEMPANZADO.» If you gringos can learn how to say that then you will see g-d in the form of a banana milk shake w cinnamon on top and a delicious chicken sandwich. Its right by the train station also, i think the archer orange line. Did you know there is a Sandwich, Illinois? They have a big fair called the sandwich fair. I’m thinkin about going, whos in?

mmm lengua tacos with a good horchata. That’s cow tongue tacos with rice milk! Very similar to San Jose Taqueria in the southside, in fact, its similar to many southside Mexican restaurants that serve burritos, tacos, chips, tortas and horchatas for reasonable prices. The staff was nice, the eating area was nicely lit. The horchata was very sweet without much cinnamon, I like it that way, so suit yourself. But I enjoyed that the tacos could be served with either lettuce/tomatoes or cilantro/onions. We also had the fresh guacamole dip with hard tortillas, not chips but full tortillas. weird. The dip though was very fresh, but I wish it had more flavor/spices in it to make it more flavorful. overall a good place to get a late night bite or for lunch/dinner.

They have many locations, all of them are not up to par. Tacos al pastor are always dry and tasteless. No manches! Que paso con los comales. You better off going to Tio Luis.

Let me tell you something about me – I dont give a damn if I dont speak the language; if people are eating good, drinking good or partying well, I’m in the house like AC in the summer time in Phoenix. Los Comales is a spot I roll through quite often after my late night escapades in Chi. I am consistently one of the only people, if not THEE only person in this joint at 2 am, that does NOT speak spanish. AND I DONTGIVE A DAMN! lol. Know why? Cause Los Comales tacos are extremely crackish. I personally have never, nor WILL ever have crack, so I cant officially call them crack – cause I cant totally speak to the parallel… so crack-ish I am comfortable calling them. Get the steak tacos. Yes, they are small, so make sure you get 3 or 4. They come with onion and cilantro and a better than average salsa. Los Comales and I are a match made in heaven. Good talk.

Came here with my guy to try it out. The menu is small. We ordered the steak burrito, 2 al pastor tacos, steak torta and grilled onions. My steak burrito was huge. I like the crispness of the outside and plenty of steak. I just thought it was a bit bland. I tried a bit of the al pastor tacos and thought it was flavorful enough. Tried a bit of the torta and didn’t think much of it. I was expecting chips and salsa, but I guess they don’t serve them here. =(They didn’t even offer them on the menu. They did have that pickled carrots, peppers and cauliflower. The cauliflower was tasty. Overall, it was ok, but nothing to go seek out.
