I came here on a whim with my sister. I’m sooooo glad we did. I had a clamato with octopus and shrimp in it. It was the BEST clamato I ever had. I also ordered the Aguachile in green sauce. It was so tasty but it was a bit too hot for my taste buds. My sister ordered a coco con Mariscos. It was beyond delicious. Luckily my sis has steel plated taste buds and happily ate the Aguachile while I munched on the coco. Both dishes came with crackers and tostada shells to accompany the Mariscos. I’m definitely coming back and bringing my Dad. He would totally dig this place.

When we walked in we weren’t greeted so we were a bit confused. Didn’t know if we were supposed to order & sit down or wait for a hostess so we just grabbed a menu & checked it out. A very busy and hasty waitress told us to check it out, order at the counter & sit down. We did so and waited about 25 minutes for a clamato and a coconut. Food was okay, we got a couple of shrimp tacos since they had no other type of tacos on a Saturday afternoon. They were a bit doughy but good. The ceviche left a lot to be desired. Pretty bland & had to ask around for a salsa. In general, food is okay. Nothing to rave about or to stand out from the rest. Customer service is bad. Waited for a while, and even got to see the mom(another waitress) yell at her daughter for mixing up the tacos.

Came here because I saw the reviews and wanted to try it out… I didn’t really like it as much as everybody else. Got the clamato with no beer and it was way too salty had to wait for ice to melt so it could get watered down. Place was a bit dirty. expected a bit more due to the reviews. A little dissapointed. I prefer Tj oysters on Bonita Rd.

I came for the Unilocal UYE and felt I didn’t try enough to give an honest review so I recently went back with my sistah. Best decision ever! I totally see why they have you pay at the end of your meal, my fat butt kept ordering stuff. Another beer, carne seca, pescado chicharrones… yeah I finally cut myself off. We both had the cocos, mine had shrimp and octopus hers just shrimp. We also had beers to go with them, just beers not clamatos this time. I figured the coco would be enough to fill me up. The cocos were tasty, I added a little chile to mine… on that note beware of the xhot bottle, Julia came running and tried to warn us but my sister took it upon herself to run over to another table and pour it into her coco. Soooooo hot, she was sweating while trying to eat the rest. I loved the mix of coconut, seafood and veggies in the coco and the coconut water on the side was very refreshing. Pescado chicharrones were tasty and very much like the real thing if you’re a fan of a good fried snack don’t skip them, definitely worth a try. They also had pulpo ones that I may try next time. I highly recommend a clamato if you go. I chose the regular one last time I went. It’s a timely process and they prepare it with love so expect a little wait. You can have it with or without a beer… you know mine was with ;-) Julia is very helpful, takes excellent care of her customers and remembered me from our crazy fun UYE. Something tells me this is the beginning of a fantastic relationship. So much hearts and love from the cheese…

I’m a fan. The Clamato’s here are some of the tastiest I’ve had in years, and certainly the best I’ve had this side of the border. We came here as part of a group of Unilocalers meeting for a UYE. None of us had been here before and all of us left duly impressed with the food and drinks. Our group came from all over the county and one even travelled from Toronto, Canada. We met up shortly after opening on a Saturday. It wasn’t too busy we when we arrived, but by the time I left it was starting to really fill up. The ladies working here are energetic and hard working. They never stop moving. They both work at keeping everything prepped and ready. The process just for making a Clamato was fascinating to watch. Maricela H and I were sitting at the bar counter watching and marveling at all the steps(8) involved. It’s actually fun to watch for a nerd like me. I had a good seat, I was able to watch them make all the food as well, including filling those coconuts! The menu here is quite simple, it’s one page. It’s in Spanish with English translation for us dummies. Everything I tried was FRESH and delicious. My only problem was finishing haha. The service is good, the ladies are friendly and will talk to you if they have a free moment, but they do get pretty busy. You order and pay when you are finished and ready to leave. They are located in a little strip mall with a liquor store. I had no problem getting parking on a Saturday. Thanks to Andy M and Ace D for arranging our little group event. My little dude enjoyed pilfering everyone’s crackers :-) See you all next time!

How does a guy from the suburbs of Toronto wind up at a place like this in Chula Vista? Well, thank Ace for that. I came for probably the best UYE I’ve been too. Saw it while scoping out things to see and do in San Diego, and so glad I went. It’s not a fancy joint, doesn’t need to be — but the food and the drinks… I have an understanding of what a chamoy mustache is, and why I like sporting one(in the right environment). I didn’t get a coco, and I have regretted it ever since — but UYE or not I’ll go back to try one next time I come to San Diego(probably next winter…) The menu’s pretty huge with a lot of options surprisingly, but the two ladies running the show were happy to make suggestions. I’ve never see a drink take as much prep as the clamato I had — so many things go into it, and the result was pretty awesome.

#7 of 100 Unilocal Reviews 2016 Thanks to the UYE, my travels ended up here at this little mariscos restaurant. I have come here to pop my mariscos and micheladas cherry and what a great surprise. This small joint shares a small parking lot, and this may be problematic with in peak times. *Update, I just revisited this place today and I have recieved another pleasant experience here.* Mariscos, meaning seafood in Spanish, is what is served here. If you came here looking for some turf items, you are outta luck. The micheladas clamatos are something you have to try once in your life. Fellow Unilocalers Andy and Ace described this concoction as a «poor man’s bloody Mary.» Wha wha what? In other words, instead of vodka it is mexican beer! I am down for that, especially if you put tamarind paste on the glass rim. If you like V8, you might like this drink. Ladies and gentlemen, this drink is refreshing and so flavorful you could of sworn there is no beer in there. I can imagine how much better it tastes during the hot summer months. I used Dos Equis as the Mexican beer. «I don’t always drink clamatos, but when I do, I use Dos Equis and order the grande size.» Btw you can add pulpos(octopus), camarones(shrimp), or clams(almejas). Even all of them if you want. They sell fish tacos for 1.50 a piece. No Taco Tuesday pricing required. Guess what, this deep fried cod tastes better than rubio’s original fish taco! Fish is more flaky, not much breading, and the taco sauce condiments are creamy with a kick. I ordered three but two should be enough to stave off one’s appetite at this point. If you want to try marlin, they are 3 bucks each. Okay okay, finally we arrive at the coconut with mariscos inside. I didn’t know you could do this to a coconut. Heck, it was only recently that I discovered in life that coconuts were not brown on the outside. Like a Sunday night slow jam, these coco de mariscos run deep. So deep that by the time you eat half way through the coconut hole, you are done. The cooks prepare a deep hole to put the mariscos in, including onions, coconut meat, avocado, and lime juice. If you thought seafood does not make you full, think again. The ingredients tasted so fresh and lime juicy that I felt that I was in Cabo chillin’ at the beach with sand between my toes and drinkin’ another cerveza. All this feeling, and no party supplies were involved. This was a challenge, because I could not bring this coconut home and eat as leftovers. I wondered if I put this between my legs while I drive, but nahhhh. The service here are friendly and helpful. However they do get busy, and since it is a small place, it does get a bit stuffy and crowded. The server also let us know that the orders do take a while to process, especially if there is a crowd. But, it is worth it and you don’t want them to rush, making your mariscos. Muchas gracias Clamatos Y Cocos on Broadway!

Wow this place is good very good! A little hidden gem in Chula Vista & if you like Mariscos & the Coco(coconut) it’s a must try! I’ve been wanting to come here & finally came with other Unilocalers as a UYE event was held here(thanks to the homie Ace for creating the event) I’m glad I came. I’m a big fan of coconuts & the coco water & that’s what caught my eye. So of course I order that, first they gave me the cold coco water in a frozen cup with chips & salsa the salsa is home made you can tell & very good. Then my Coco came & wow! It was beautiful & taste awesome & was orgasmic! My mouth was practically having a orgasm as I was eating it! It’s huge & comes with chunks of coconut, cold cucumbers, shrimp, octopus, crab meat, fish & avocado & cilantro in a cold seafood broth, I asked for it all & only $ 14! If you want to subtract any of the items you can but you be crazy if you did, it taste perfect the way it is. And course I got a regular Clamato(the Mexican poor man Bloody Mary) & wow it was on point. Almost got a second one but I had to drive & didn’t want to call über. I also took to go one tostada each of shrimp & fish chiviche, it was a hit with me & the Wifey as we ate it at home, very filling. Fish taco also good. The customer service was good the lady’s working were real nice & tho it got a bit busy they did there best to keep up, it was only 2 of them at the time. The place was & stayed cleaned the whole time. I will be going back for sure, heard they got good Marlin Tacos & other items so gonna have to try them but the main reason I’ll be coming back for is that COCO baby.

Yum! I don’t usually go out on my own to try places like this, which I should, because this is amazing. SO introduced me to this place. He usually gets takeout because the place is small and we like to eat at home. I say this because they’re willing to wrap up and pack two coconuts full of yummy seafood for you and it doesn’t get all that messy. SO usually orders a lot from this place and it’s a bit of a wait, but so worth it! The coconut is opened when you order and I just can’t say enough how delicious it is! Perhaps I shouldn’t write reviews when hungry, because I just want to drop everything and go right now! Again, it’s a small place and it takes a little while to get your order, but have patience because you’ll see that it is well worth it in the end. Yes, I’m definitely coming back!

When I visited this place, all the workers stopped talking amongst each other and greeted my buddy and I. They had a feeling we did not know Spanish because we weren’t Mexican, so a couple of them told us if we had any questions about the menu they will gladly help us. My buddy wanted a plain Clamato, I wanted one with shrimp. The other patrons ordered food and when the chef was cooking it on the grill, boy oh boy it smelled good. We were already full, so we decided just to have Clamatos. It was beautifully garnished with olives, celery, and that salty red stuff around the rim, I think its called Chamoy? The shrimps were decent size and the drink was refreshing. I will definitely come back to try the delicious smelling eats they have.

Definitely a must try! We really enjoyed this place solely for the clamato normal. The rim was garnished with a mix of chamoy and spiciness, ughh SOOO good! The food is probably really good too! The tacos were decently priced, for example $ 3 dollars for a marlin taco– not bad. The coco with seafood is $ 14 dollars and meant to share. We ended up paying close to $ 20 for just two clamatos with beer which is not cheap, but I’d definitely go back because the quality is amazing. I’m craving one just thinking about it! REALLY awesome customer service! The lady making our clamatos asked us if we liked our drinks & so did the(owner?) Also made recommendations for our next visit.

This place is something special and in my top 10 food experiences for SD. Thankfully I caught a photo Jay C. posted of this place and it looked so banging, I speed down. The hand full of times I’ve done this, they’ve usually been disappointing. Clamatos & Cocos was much better than anticipated. A hot ass day in the summer had some major influence too. The menu is perfect. I could order anything off the menu and be excited. Had 100’s of clamatos before but never a coco and it was a must try. Grab a beer and wait. This is a family run business that takes great pride in what they’re doing and have fun with each other. A few generations working here and always smiling. Took some time to prepare, but so worth the wait. Coconut water hits the table to drink with the meal. They insist you drink it with the meal. Food is delicious, comforting and refreshing. Mixed mariscos with the best clamato juice is perfection. They don’t cut any corners with this dish and it’s priced modestly. It’s such a treat to get everything so fresh and put together so well. I could try to replicate this dish a 100 times and fall short. Go experience it for yourself. They ask questions on how you liked the food and engage in light conversation. I find this interesting because all of my favorite places do this. It’s like the golden stamp of approval that you’ll always get a great meal.
