Where do I start. Never comming here again! Very rude assistant. Very unorganized. Thought they were professional since it was at a Sears store. Thought wrong.

I moved away from Contra Costa county in 2004, and after having three cruddy prescriptions from different optometrists, I drive two hours to see Dr. Salazar each time I need an eye exam. Dr. Javier Salazar is the best optometrist I’ve ever had, and I would confidently recommend his services to anyone. There’s something about the way that he conducts the exam that ensures I get the best prescription, every time. I hope he never retires! My eyes never hurt or strain afterwards, and I can see better than 20⁄20 thanks to him. You can get your glasses next door at the eyewear shop, or you can get them elsewhere. I go elsewhere, since it’s a hike there and back, and they understand. Strongly recommend!

Came to Sears Optical to get glasses for my 2-year old. Having no idea what to do for a toddler needing glasses, Janice was amazing. She was so patient with my kids, understood my daughter’s eye condition as well as my concerns about what frames would work and even ideas around how to get her to wear them. Each time we returned she remembered our names and was so good with my daughter. Janice really made the whole process easy and was incredibly knowledgeable and kind.

Came here because my glasses broke in two and for the longest time I haven’t had an eye exam for about 3 – 4 years ago… or longer. I tried to go to my usual Optometry near my house, but they don’t have an available spot till 2 weeks. And knowing my eyes are bad without my glasses, that is pretty long wait. I then went to Lenscrafters in the Mall, but asking for the copay, it was too much my budget and won’t accept my vision coverage($ 75). So knowing theirs Sears near by, I asked them Original price is $ 80. If we had AAA, it cost $ 50. But they said they do accept my coverage and would have to ask the doctors assistant. And they had an available spot the next day at 2pm. I asked them to schedule me at 2pm. The next when I got there I did a little paper work and waited for the Optometry doctor, Dr. Javier Salazar. He was good and told him why I’m here, gave him my old glasses. And knowing I haven’t checked my glasses for the longest time, he did some tests to see if my eyes changed or stayed the same.

We went here to get some Glasses for the Wifey. It was the first time either of us needed to pick up prescription eyeglasses. Since we already had her prescription, we needed to pick out some frames for the lenses. Unfortunately, we had a snafu with our Health Care provider and did not come prepared with the proper paperwork. They were very helpful but we made multiple trips because we had to use our insurance carriers. The ladies who work here answered all of our questions and were very patient. We were successful after the 3rd visit because we had all the necessary paperwork and forms. The glasses were ready in less then a week and we were able to pick them up a few days earlier than what they quoted us. Wifey loves the glasses and we will be back for the free adjustment.

I can’t remember the last time I visited an Optometrist to have my eyes examined. But since I’m down to 1 old pair of pockmarked glasses and I’ll be the main driver in Spain next month, I reluctantly made the call to have my vision checked. Actually buying the frames will wait a few days as Gayle wants to work on my nerdy bad boy look. Sears Optical is located in the lower level right next to the watch repair place. Dr. Salazar has apparently been here since 1980 and the folks on this side of Sears do seem to have a comfortable and friendly relationships. The clinic itself is small, basic, and very functional. Despite a significant delay in my appointment(of which I should have been more patient), I was in and out relatively quickly, with the prescription and related information that I needed, and at a reasonable price. The results were about what I expected. In other words, I’m near sighted, my left eye is stronger than my right, and although I can read just fine without glasses, I’m not 20⁄20 in this area. Yet, I’m not ready to endure the split screen of bifocals, despite Dr. Salazar’s low key and friendly probing of my ocular bias. In any event I’m now almost ready for the Iberian Peninsula, although to quote Sammy Hagar: «No puedo conducir 55».

Dr. Salazar is a great doctor. He is an independent doctor of optometry who has had his office inside of Sears since 1980. Optometrists at Sears simply lease space inside the store. They are not Sears employees. He got his degree from UC Berkeley. This was my first visit to his office. The exam costs less than an eye exam at Lenscrafters. I saved a lot of money by going to Sears. I called ahead for an appointment and the doctor normally works on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He is usually there until almost 7PM.

Dr. Salazar is very efficient, the office staff are all friendly and helpful. They even gave me a free pair of contacts since I was in an emergency situation having lost my last new pair in my travels(big annual mgt. meeting with LOTS of reading!) Unfortunately I was given a –250 instead of the +250 I needed, and fortunately, I was able to retrieve the pair I had just tossed into the garbage! Their selection of glasses is a little outdated but ok for an emergency pair which i will get sometime soon.
