Lady working the bar broke my ID in half and did nothing to make up for it. Now im out 50 $. The food was WELL over priced. The burger was quite good though. Its just a small biker/military bar.

This is the dive bar in Coronado to go to of you are feeling that vibe. It’s a Navy seal bar so a lot of military go here. They have a juke box which is cool and the drinks are good. There’s an upstairs which I haven’t been up there yet but I heard someone saying something about playing pool.

This place is great! It’s not too huge but has a cozy feel to it. There is Navy SEAL memorabilia covering all the walls, and the bartender, Alex, was so sweet! She also makes a killer blue lemonade drink — I think she called it an electric lemonade? But I HIGHLY recommend. Cheap drinks and nice people. Overall, had a really fun time!

I came here because it was recommended through a friend of mine, and I loved it. It’s a dive bar to a T. Our first bartender was Heather who was not only super friendly but very laid-back and gave us awesome recommendations for other places to go to and Coronado. She was awesome! When she left the bar, she introduced us to the next bartender who was Nicole who was just as polite and professional as Heather was. I love the small town feel of the whole area which is embodied in this bar. You can talk to anyone sitting at the bar, drinks are more than reasonably priced, and the friendly atmosphere makes it feel like I was back home in Illinois! Keep doing what you’re doing!

Been coming here for many years and the service has gone down hill. The last time I was here I waited at the bar for my first drink of the night and the bartender Lisa wouldn’t serve me or my boyfriend because of some girl drama involving a mutual friend. In result, I walked out never been served. I will NEVER come here while she is working, it’s amazing to me that she will purposely deter transactions because of her own girl drama. It’s a business not a high school!

Clearly obvious why they were«best burgers» in San Diego. This place is a local favorite and is easy to miss from the street, but you definitely need to stop here!

Been coming here for over 10 years during the summer but the new bartenders/servers are horrible. They are more worried about flirting with the males at the bar and checking their iPhones. They are ruining a historic place that has honored our Navy Seals and their service. Please, help gets this place back to the way it use to be.

SO not what it used to be. I lived in Nado for several years and this was our go-to place for good drinks, great bartenders, with awesome friends. Last night was TRAGIC! It took FOREVER for her to serve me at the bar. She was FAR too busy flirting with the male customers, so I finally had to have my male friend come to the bar, THEN she finally acknowledged me. Not only did they run out of Malibu, when I asked her for something similar she had no clue or suggestions. Then after serving several males at the bar she started to make my drink. I watched as she dumped ice from a dirty glass behind the bar, and proceeded to make my drink in it. When I complained, she just said«oh sorry, didn’t know it mattered.». WTF! Of course it matters! To add insult to it, she charged me twice for the drink, and when I asked her about it, she said, «I made one and you didn’t like it so I had to make you another, so I have to charge you for two.» Horrible horrible horrible! So sad!

I think this is the best burger in Coronado. Meat is always juicy and simple and fresh. It’s a dive bar. Burger is always consistently good.

Wow. This place used to be awesome. The server actually never even came to our table. We had to go up to the bar. Then she delayed putting our order in so she could take the order of the table next to us. I brought my brother and his family here and assured them through our wait that even though the service was slow, the food would be worth it. It was not. This place used to be amazing. It no longer is. I am so dissatisfied with my visit. I will not be back. Sad. RIP Danny’s of the good ol days.

Went with some friends who loved this place and honestly I can’t see why. The drinks and food are expensive compared to other dive bars. And if they claim to be anything other than a dive bar then they’re lying. Most of my friends come for the atmosphere and out of habit, personally I think there are other better bars around. On the plus side they do have a large memorial to fallen SEALs and the bartenders are hot.

This review is primarily for the burgers. It’s been about 20 years since my last visit here and something I really appreciate is consistency. Although it’s been 20 years, their burgers are still excellent! They are located right on the main strip in Coronado and street parking isn’t much of a problem. You have to love Coronado parking meters… twenty-five cents for an entire hour! So nice! Danny’s is a «dive bar» so be prepared. If you walk in during daylight hours it’s going to take a second or two for your eyes to adjust. I even got some strange looks from what I’m guessing were regulars. I guess I don’t look like the regular type for this bar? Regardless, people in the bar are friendly and the servers are very friendly. I took a seat at the bar and almost immediately was greeted by one of the bartenders. I think she too wasn’t really sure what I was doing there by the look on her face when she approached me. But I knew what I wanted so I ordered a burger and a drink and her expression changed to one of welcome immediately. The décor has certainly changed a little since my last visit 20 years ago. There is a huge dedication to Navy SEALs who have died in the Iraq/Afghanistan Wars. As I looked up at the wall of all the photos, I immediately recognized the photo of LT Michael Murphy who died in Operation Red Wings which was detailed in the movie«Lone Survivor». It was a bit surreal to look around the walls at all the fallen Navy SEALs. The bartender brought my cheeseburger and it was dry. They have ketchup, mustard and mayo on the side for you to add yourself if you want. The cheeseburger comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion. Once I had added my toppings, I bite into a hot, perfectly cooked burger! Not too well done and the cheese was perfectly melted all over the patty. The bun is a soft sesame bun and the veggies are all fresh as well. I had ordered the ¼ pound burger but it does come in ½ pound and full pound. The ¼ pound was just perfect for me for today. I finished off my burger and said thanks for serving one of the best burgers in San Diego. They haven’t changed a bit in all these years. If you are like me and on a search for the BEST burger, you have to stop by here. But get in before 8pm because that’s when they stop cooking these magnificent burgers. And when you are here, take a look around at all of the fallen Navy SEALs. It’s heartbreaking when any member of the armed forces is killed in action. I served 20 years in the Navy and it’s even more heartbreaking for me when a Navy SEAL is killed and to look at all the SEALs who made the ultimate sacrifice… it’s a solemn feeling seeing all the pictures. But knowing Navy SEALs, this is also a fitting tribute to them. So please, when you are here having a drink, raise a glass for those incredibly brave men. Great food and great service!

Probably the most under rated burger in San Diego. Huge portions and they also have turkey burgers if you don’t want the beef. Thier fries are fried in the same oil as the chips so it makes them taste even better. Also this is the ultimate team guy bar and if your not opposed to seeing anyone from the military you’ll fit in just nicely. This place can get pretty fun at night so don’t bring the kids and you might want to hide your wife haha!

Used to be much better. Service was fair but the slam burgers were not good and way over priced. To bad, it was a fun place to go when in Coronado. Hopefully management can work to turn it around. I’ll give it one more chance before crossing it off my list.

Sad to say but I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. I used to love going here for the burgers. Went today, 10 min before anyone even took my order and the owner was standing in front of me for ½ that time and never said a word. 30 min and $ 35 later I walk out with 2 burgers and a side of fries… RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Then I got to the car to find out my order was wrong!!! Oh, I should mention they charged me for the to-go containers. Unreal. I went back in and talked to the owner. Clueless. Said she’d give me a refund/credit if I came back. Unlikely. They lost a lot when Lisa left. Waitress was slow, problems with the new cash register. They are in real trouble if the burger guy ever leaves. I DONOT recommend going here unless overpriced food and horrible service is what you’re looking for. Especially sad considering the rich traditions and history hanging on the walls.

WHATHAPPENEDTOTHISPLACE? Went to Danny’s tonight with my Mom for a Slamburger, usually a great experience, but this time was terrible. The biggest problem was the pricing, $ 7.75 for a basket of french fries??? The small portion is a pathetic size for the same price of a full burger! I get it, our bad for not reading the new menu prices, but come on, really? We have been eating and drinking here for years, but after this failure of an evening we will NOT return again. Ordered a hard cider, then after 6 minutes of searching I was told they did not have any. No problem, how about a vodka soda? Sorry, NOSODAWATER. Ok… so I settle on a vodka tonic, $ 6.50 for weak pour, so sad. Our burgers and basket of french fries arrives, we eat and watch the owner argue with the bartenders over the lack of soda water(why didnt you tell me? why did you get any?) The entire time the owner is drinking her wine and eating cheese from a block she cut ONTHEBAR, so unsanitary. Now dont get me wrong, we have been eating and drinking here for years and know that their«A» rating is doubtful at best, but the food was so good and the prices were great so we kept going back! Until tonight. The new owner(s) have done nothing to fix the bar itself, its still covered in duct tape, and showed no desire to help us when we questioned the pricing. Its sad, because this used to be a great place to get a burger fix, but it seems that the owners are running it into the ground with high prices and crappy customer service. Did I mention that when the cook walked down the street for cigarettes, which he reeked of, he also got in trouble for not fixing the soda water situation? I dont understand why the owner couldnt put down her block of cheese for 10 minutes and go get it herself; thats what owners do! Also, never saw the cook wash his hands after he clearly took a break to smoke… shudder. So, lets sum it all up. Bad ownership, dirty, waaaaay OVERPRICED, bad customer service and cheap pours. Next time we will go to Nicky Rottens for a burger.

Best burgers in Coronado, and definitely a contender for best in San Diego, period. You cannot go wrong ordering a Frogman or any Slamburger, for that matter. Don’t wuss out. Skip the ¼ pound and for straight for the ½. And be forewarned. Even though Danny’s is center stage on the strip in Coronado, it still fits the mold of a «dive bar.» And that’s actually perfect. Because anyone who has ever for-real visited Danny’s knows it’s also a staple among Navy SEALs who work on the Strand. So, a dive bar for men who dive? Perfect. It’s also worth noting how Danny’s derives its personality 99% from the SEAL community. Because not only does it give Danny’s unique character among a highway of over-priced, touristy chains, it draws a TON of hot women trying to pick up frogmen. AND it helps us find all the fake reviews posted to Danny’s page by envious fans of other burger joints, because it is not possible to sit down for dinner at Danny’s and NOT comment on the décor while still maintaining integrity in a review.
