This is an AWESOME place to eat! They have all sorts of exotic meat for burgers: buffalo, kangaroo, lamb, and hand-ground beef! All fresh, not frozen! Their sides are fresh and they have the ABSOLUTEBEST Cole slaw in the WORLD! The chef is TOPNOTCH and really cares how the food turns out! He will prepare a lean meat patty on a bed of salad that is a thing of BEAUTY! WEGOASOFTENASWECAN! Their selection of STYLES of burger is very extensive! They are a burger connoisseur’s home run! We HIGHLY recommend this place!!!

**New Owners!** New chefs! Everything is homemade from scratch, made with love and you can taste the passion the owner has for EXCELLLENT food! I was Unilocaling to see where to go for an affordable dinner after a long day on the beach. Someone had done a Unilocal review 15 minutes before I saw it and they really recommended their brisket. So, that’s what I ordered along with the turkey. It was a two meat plate with 2 sides for $ 10.25. I got the macaroni n cheese, homestyle potatoes, and green beans. The potatoes were so savory! Loved them. Macaroni and cheese was delicious, peppery creamy and cheesy! Better than any I’ve had at a bbq restaurant. BOTH the brisket and the turkey were moist and smokey. Best I’ve had! My mom ordered half pound of ribs(she said they were good! Bare, no bbq sauce but NOT dry very moist) with sweet potato fries. They make their own bbq sauce from scratch which tastes great. But we didn’t need any sauce on their meat.. it was outstanding on its own! Stop in for a meal you won’t regret. Don’t pass up the homestyle potatoes!

Best brisket I’ve ever had! I mean, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Did I mention it was good? Staff was friendly and helpful. Like I told the chef, I wish I wasn’t full so I could keep eating! Plan on going back tomorrow to try the burger!

The burgers are awesome! Service was great and food came out fast. Not to many options for kids but all in all 5 stars!

My husband and I waited for 30 minutes for our food so I decided to check on our order. The lady told me they haven’t started it yet so I asked for a refund. She started fidgeting with her computer and said that our food was actually done. It was sitting under the heat lamp for who knows how long. The meat portions are small and their idea of moist brisket is lean brisket. Overpriced and never coming back.

Was lead here by a co-worker that had to prove to me that it wasn’t the place it was the last time I was here over a year ago. The new owner has turned this place around! Tasty BBQ with a smile! Friendly and efficient staff and yummy food. Have tried the brisket and BBQ turkey sandwich. Loved both!

My bison burger was aaaaaaamazing! I have never had a burger and eaten it all… ever! This was soo good I couldn’t stop. I was given a complimentary ice cream cookie sandwich. …the cookie was so good you could taste the butter. Customer service was on point! You are missing out if you don’t stop by!

I ordered the nachos with my families meal and asked what type of meat they used. I was told they covered it with brisket. I knew my kids would not enjoy the brisket on the nachos so I asked for it on the side and made sure there wasn’t any other ingredient that I would hear protest to once I arrived home. Once home, sure enough the nachos were covered in the brisket even my husband wouldn’t eat it which was surprising. When I called, the owner happened to answer. I asked to speak to the lady who takes the orders. I could hear him mocking me and laughing when she answered the phone. I told her what had happened and the man shouldn’t laugh because I didn’t know her name. That’s when she said it was the owner who answered the phone and they would replace the meal the next time I come in. I was hoping they would offer to replace the chips that evening but they didn’t :/Once I hung up I told my husband what they said and he told me the best part of the meal was the BBQ sauce the meat wasn’t very good. So, it looks like we’re not going back and my nachos are forever gone

Wow! They were finally open! That’s an improvement. Spent 7 minutes on hold for a call in order. I actually had time to drive there before they got me off hold. I was by that time sitting in the parking lot. There were two other customers in the place. I guess two customers constitutes a «rush.» Then they tell me 15 minutes for a cheese burger. Don’t come to this place unless you check to make sure they are open and that you have plenty of time to spend waiting. Poor service yet again.

This place has a new owner now and is worth checking out. Their bbq plates come with plenty of food. My only complaint is they seem to run out of a lot of their options if you go near closing time, but I assume that just means they keep their offerings fresh! Interesting menu options include some Pretty exotic burgers… Kangaroo? Desserts are good as well.

Awesome food! Great burgers and wide selection of BBQ. I’ve eaten here several times over the past few months and every time I’ve loved what I’ve gotten. I’ve come here solo, with a few friends and with large groups of family and not once has anyone had anything bad to say about their food.

I’m a BBQ fiend– and until tonight, City Market in Luling was the best in Texas. Under new ownership, this unassuming BBQ joint in a strip mall has just taken the title as far as I’m concerned. The meat wasn’t overpowered by the smoke(pecan & apple wood), the baked beans were fantastic, the ribs had great flavor and texture and were cooked to perfection. The brisket had a perfect consistency and flavor, and was better than anything produced by City Market, Black’s, Kreuze’s, Smitty’s, or Coopers. The sausage was perfect as well– not over-seasoned or overcooked. I’ve eaten here before when it was under the old owner– and it was OK, but nothing to get excited about(better than Rudy’s). The new owners are making all the right choices.

You know the ‘cue is not good when the best item on your plate is the steamed corn. Visited the place twice, the first time the bbq was enjoyable(brisket and turkey platter) The second time(yesterday) the jalapeño sausage and turkey platter was terrible. The turkey was flavorless and the sausage tasted more like a hot dog. The potato salad was watery and just off. So the corn was the winner. I think Rudy’s might be the best bbq in town, which doesn’t say much. Especially for Texas.

Sampled the brisket and the mac and cheese. The brisket is moist and well seasoned but could use a little more smokiness. The mac and cheese is rich and made with green chilies for some spice. Texas Mesquite fills a BBQ niche that’s been empty for a while on padre island. I look forward to trying out some of their other BBQ concoctions. Some updates on the menu. –Pulled pork is nothing special, it gets the job done. It’s by no means bad but it is also not exceptional. I got it in a sandwich and thought their buns(toasted with butter) were above average. –Potato salad is primarily mustard based heavy in celery and with bits of hard boiled egg for some nice texture contrast. –Sausage is well seasoned and moist but I think it would benefit from just a little more kick All in all if you’re on the island and craving BBQ, Texas Mesquite is a safe bet. However this place has some ground to cover before it could claim to be one of the premier BBQ places in Corpus.

While visiting my friends in CC, my(should be ex-friend after this) friend took us to Texas Mesquite BBQ. The Pros… the company at our table. The poor beleaguered wait-staff. The Cons… the stuff they laughingly call bbq(I live in New Orleans where we are not known for bbq and we still have a handful of places that would blow this out of the water) BBQ should be smoky. It’s like they cooked it high and fast instead of slow and low. I’m a brisket fan and while yours while moist enough was under-flavored. It was almost like another reviewer mentioned… microwaved or something. Why open a place with sub-par BBQ in Texas? Oh, and by the way… the obviously shilled reviews below show the low level of confidence someone has for this place(Not saying it WAS the business, but COMEON…) if they feel it’s bad enough to fake 5 – 6 reviews in 24 hours. I mean… instead of wasting all that time creating one-off accounts and posting fake reviews, how about just using that time to improve your bbq skills? Go take a class. Go watch some bbq shows. Go work as a dishwasher at a good place and steal their techniques Send away for BBQ for Dummies book. SOMETHING. [EDIT] And if you could please refrain from using the shill accounts to send me any more insulting messages, that would be swell. Kaythankyouverymuch
