Definitely one of my new favorite spots! [LOCATION] I’m a regular at the OC Mix and it took me a while to finally get around to trying this place, and I’m a fan! There’s a nice seating area right next to this place so you can either get your hand rolls to dine in or to-go. Parking may be hard to find on the weekends since the place is so packed. [HANDROLLS] You can pick one of the handrolls on the menu, or you can customize your own. The fish to rice ratio is pretty good but if you don’t want rice in your roll you can ask them. I’ve only ordered the ones on the menu: — Calientail(yellowtail): By far has to be my favorite. I love the spicy kick that comes with the yellowtail and the crunch from the cucumber — Zesty miso(salmon): Comes in a close second! I’m a huge fan of salmon and the roll was really refreshing — Poke(tuna): Good, but not my favorite. Didn’t have as much flavor as the Calientail but still a yummy roll Overall I rate the rolls 5/5, but the it’s about $ 5 per hand roll, and not something I could afford day to day, so I’m bumping my rating down to 4.5÷5!

The rolls are nothing special. Just ok. Yellowtail is better than the spicy tuna. Good sizes but price needs to come down. To be full you gotta get more than 2, but 2 for $ 10+ for this almost might not be worth it. A tip if you’re a parent ordering for the young kid: if you want a non raw fish one like a plain with just avocado and cucumber don’t order a la carte. That comes to $ 6+!!! Order the $ 4 spicy tuna without spicy tuna. I dunno why they don’t already have a non raw fish and simpler rolls for kids who don’t yet eat sushi since there are so many kids roaming around.

In all honesty this place deserves the three stars because customer service is sinking this place from my pov. If you’re going to train new staff at dinner rush that’s my hint to gtfo because all I got was«what did you order again» I’m sorry but train your new hires between 12−2pm. You guys need to designate one person to making the rolls and one on the pos system and not the other way around. Get more involved with trainning your staff off peak hours where business should run smoothly. What you got is a customer who will think twice before dinning at your establishment.

Great service! The cashier greeted us and was very friendly and welcoming. She was really helpful in suggesting what was popular and what she personally liked. The spicy yellowtail and salmon hand roll is a must get! My friend was happy with all her hand roll recommendations! The place is very clean and well kept. Self-serve wasabi and ginger. Clean up after yourself!

A restaurant just for hand rolls. Yasssss! When I’m in OC I like having options since I can’t really bring my own lunch when I’m working out there. This spot is in OC mix, right slab dab in the center. You can order their special hand rolls, or make your own! I can’t wait to come back here again for lunch. ENJOY!

Friendly service, decent hand rolls, reasonable prices. A blue addition to The OC Mix. Their seating section is a bit oddly configured, as stated in other reviews…

I got the spicy tuna they put a generous amount of the spicy tuna in the hand roll it was pretty good. I don’t know if they added vinegar in the rice like how restaurant qualities do but it the rice was decent. Definitely would go again for lunch.

This place is okay. I was really excited to try bcus I was craving sushi! It’s my second time here at soco and I heard this was just added. When we were about to order, the cashier let us know beforehand if it was okay that they gave us brown rice instead of white rice free of charge. I replied«yes please!» With no hesitation because I prefer brown rice anyways! After waiting pretty long for our food it came out w white rice… Pretty Odd. I thought they were out and were going to give us brown rice free of charge :’(oh well. Might not come back again. But 3 stars for presentation and cleanliness. It looks pretty :’)

Inside OC Mix, they have their own bar style area with a small trash can so you don’t have to wonder around with your empty bowls and cups. I had the Miso soup and a green tea, both were good and service was friendly. They take your order fast but it takes a while to cook it but the process is fast over all. The place doesn’t look finished yet, they were probably in a rush to open it, I have to come back and try some of their hand rolled sushi.

This second location is located inside SoCo. There is a small eating area for Temakira itself but of course there are common sitting areas around Portola coffee and outside. Food: I love hand rolls so can’t go wrong here. Taste is similar to the original location in terms of flavor and sauce. However, the salmon katsu we ordered was really dry! We ordered our 4 favorites hand rolls: calientail, viva, crunchy, and salmon katsu(not as good here). Cleanliness: the tables were sticky and kinda messy. Staff: nice and friendly Tips: water, wasabi, and ginger are available upon request Overall: 3.5 stars

Place is clean but seating is kinda weird with trash can and bussing tray area in the middle near all the tables. Salmon hand roll with tempura has a nice crunch but the tempera was cold not hot. I am more accustomed the tempera being hot when served, so have deduct a star for that. The spicy tuna hand roll has a nice flavor. It was kind of weird that they don’t give you wasabi unless you ask for it.

Found this place wandering the halls of SoCo on it’s grand opening day. Ordered a kid’s meal to try them out and the food was really good. It took a bit of time for what is essentially a CA roll but it’s a new business with kinks to be worked out. They’re pretty pricey but you can tell it’s quality ingredients and they don’t skimp on portion size. Very flavorful and neat. I look forward to coming back and hopefully they’ll have some soft shell crab or salmon skin on the menu next time.

A good quick fix sushi restaurant located inside of SoCo. It’s not a full service restaurant. Order your food, and they’ll call your name to pick it up at the counter. When you’re done, you put away your own dishes and clean up after yourself. Most hand rolls are $ 4.75 each and that’s a bit steep. I got three rolls and this is in the order that I enjoyed most: crunchy(shrimp tempura), zesty miso(salmon), poke(tuna). Wasabi and ginger given upon request only. I like how they have a hand sanitizer bottle out for customers to use. 3.5 round up.
