Awesome Place. Awesome Service. Kevin was awesome, it was my first time in Dallas and everybody was very friendly and provided excellent service.

We went on a Saturday before going out in Uptown. The menus are simple, the drinks were decent, and the food was good. My wife and I both had one of the irons. I had the Asian with ribeye and my wife had the healthy veggie option. Both were pretty good.

My roommate and I decided to try this place out Monday for dinner and we did not regret it. The staff was friendly and attentive. The drinks and food were delicious, and the outdoor dining area was perfect for a warm summer night. We started off with some drinks, the Lone Star Belle and the Pretentious Council, which were both very good. We also tried their Spinach and Artichoke dip which was creamy and delicious. My roommate had the Peta Skillet, and I had the fish tacos. The fish tacos were great, however the skillet was underwhelming and could have used some more flavor/seasoning(my roommate added salt and pepper which helped). Overall good experience but I think the best parts were the drinks and the patio atmosphere.

The staff is really nice, but I did feel some judgement. This place is not chilled at all! If your not tall and slender or dressed to impressed, don’t go here! Especially on a Saturday afternoon. In a good note the drinks and food are okay.

As soon as you walk in they make you feel welcome. The owners were working the door, told me about the specials and were really friendly. The craft drinks are small but fantastic. I can’t wait to check out them for brunch.

Fantastic location, great vibe, spacious outdoor patio and the brunch was super tasty and reasonably priced. What’s not to like… We will be back for more.

Bar review. Great outdoor patio, with multiple tvs, cooling fans, and good music. They have very tasty(read strong) sangria, which is $ 1 off during happy hour, and multiple good beers on tap. This is a perfect place to day drink, or end your night. Oh, and their patio is dog friendly.

Finally, a new place that is healthy fresh and delicious. City Council is delicious, all of the irons are good(believe me I’ve had them all) especially the Texas with the ribeye. Also the Bloody Mary’s are great and only 5 $ on Sunday… Oh and if you are into music at all, the Dj/playlists are always my thing. Go try it, I’m sure you’ll like it.

We found this place and Unilocal and decided to give it a try for happy hour! They have great specials like ½ price apps and pizza! We went for wings and pizza and it was more than enough for 2! And the total was $ 12 for the combo! We also ordered some signature cocktails for $ 7 each… I’ve had better drink specials but it was still a great find! The waiter was also very friendly and it had a great vibe to it. The only thing we weren’t too fond of were the wings, the buffalo was a bit salty and the lemon pepper had too much seasoning.

Great great place! Went there for brunch on Sunday(4⁄10) with a couple of friends. JR and Kevin greeted us and were so friendly! After that our waitress Liberty stopped by to get our drink orders(Mimosas of course) she was awesome! Very attentive helpful when we asked about the menu just all around great! I ordered the OG and my friend had the Grilled cheese breakfast sandwich. OMG the OG was Fantastic! Everything that I needed for brunch I had my potatoes with a side of sirachia(s/p?) ranch omg amazing! We stayed long enough to also have Angelina wait on us and I have to say she was as fabulous as Liberty. We honestly stayed there at least 4 hours! The patio was so relaxing and laid back. I will definitely be coming back! I’ve heard they have great dinner too so I’ll have to check that out soon. Over all great experience!

This place is dope. The wings will touch your food loving soul. The drinks are good especially since one of the partners was a bartender with a good following. Met the owner there and out at a club cool dude.

Loved being able to make brunch reservations for our whole group! Food was ok $ 10 classic breakfast and $ 10 for a mimosa carafe. My total was $ 22 for one person and I had plenty to eat and drink. Not a whole lot of shade if you are on the patio. Service is very very slow and servers had too many tables to manage. Our waitress wasn’t a happy camper but wasn’t totally rude. Quite a few of our orders were wrong but they got fixed. Overall it was a pleasant Sunday afternoon. Prolly won’t go back for brunch unless we are in a bind and have a large group to accommodate and have time to wait.

As this is a new business, I will begin with saying that this place is DEFINITELY worth trying!!! Please go. Ok, now for my review. The State Thomas Neighborhood has some of my favorite places for happy hour, but this place has instantly been added to that list. On Friday, my girlfriend and I ventured in and were told that their appetizers and cocktails were HALF off. They had beer specials as well, but I opted for a cocktail. I ordered The Dirty Politician and my girlfriend got a Lone Star Belle. I’m not normally a bourbon drinker, but after I saw that it had vermouth and lemon juice, I decided to give it a shot. If a Boulevardier got with a Whiskey Sour and had a kid, The Dirty Politician would be the outcome. I thoroughly enjoyed this drink, and since it was happy hour, it only set me back $ 5. I foresee a lot more of these in my not too distant future. We had dinner plans, but for an appetizer, we did split a spinach artichoke dip. It came out rather quickly and was nice and creamy, with lots of flavor. Altogether, our 2 drinks(which were very well made, not a simple jack/coke or vodka/sprite), and appetizer came to less than $ 15. What a steal! While we were enjoying our drinks/dip, I asked for a brunch menu just to glance over it. Many of their options caught my eye, so I can see myself coming here frequently for happy hour and brunch. For the quality and value, it has this Unilocaler’s recommendation that you do the same.

I ventured into Dallas to this new spot. It was described to me to be a neighborhood bar. I didn’t think much of it when I looked at the menu but I kept an open mind. The place is casual, clean and cool. They now have a patio which is pretty large. I ordered wine reluctantly thinking there’s no way they’d get it right. But they did. And the waitress even knew to bring us a few tastes before committing. She was young but clearly had been trained well. Our waters were always full and our dishes were cleared promptly. The manager Julio was super cool and friendly and exemplifies what a manager should be to his patrons. Out appetizers came and again, I was pleasantly surprised that the tortilla chips were fresh and homemade, the spinach/artichoke dip was delicious and so were the chicken tacos and the wings(especially the kung pao). The favorite entrée was the French dip. The burger was good but I think needed to be a bit more juicy and a sauce of some sort would have made it better. And the communications drink was also good. I’m a wine drinker but I asked to have a few more sips of our friend’s cocktail. Apparently they have a brunch that has amazing homemade biscuits. That is a must try. This place really cares about getting it right and it shows.

A group of four of us decided to try City Council this past weekend. We got there at 9pm to have dinner and drinks and it seemed we were the only table in the bar that ordered food. One couple got to the table before my fiancé and I did, but that didn’t excuse the fact that once we sat down, it took almost 15 minutes for us to receive water and even longer for our waitress to come to take our drink orders. I was in the building for 25 minutes before receiving my first drink. I asked for a glass of wine on their menu, which the waitress said wasn’t available yet. She also had to mention a few other items that weren’t available even though they were printed on the menu, which I found odd. I don’t understand the point of having items printed on the menu if they aren’t going to be available yet. Before I get into the food part of my review, I want to mention how much we all disliked the service. Our waitress was clueless and inattentive the entire night we were there. The only reason my review gets 3 stars is due to the owner, Julio, stopping by to greet us with his warm personality. Also, when we ordered wine from the waitress, the glass was ¼ full; however, when we ordered wine from Julio, it was the standard pour from most restaurants. For appetizers, we started with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and the Hummus. The lettuce wraps were a little hard to eat because of the large amount of noodles that were a part of the wraps. The chicken had an aioli sauce drizzled on the top and even with the sauce, the wraps were tasteless. The wraps need a lot more sauce and a lot less noodles. The hummus was ok, but I prefer my hummus to be a smoother blend. For my entrée, I ordered the Fish Tacos, which were three grilled mahi tacos. The tacos not only smelled fishy, but tasted very fishy. I ate them due to my extreme hunger pains, but they weren’t desirable at all. I would never recommend anyone to try these. The Sweet Potato Fries on the other hand were really delicious. The Fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making it perfect when dipped in the ketchup they provided. The Iron skillets can be built to your liking. I was able to try the Peta Iron that was built with bacon, brisket, and a fried egg(a recommendation from Julio). The skillet had a lot of flavor, which was probably due to the bacon because another person at the table ordered this same Iron skillet with tofu and the flavor was so bland that she had to send it back. All in all, the service was extremely slow and the food was ok. If I decide to come back here, it would definitely only be for drinks because the food is not up to par. Aside from the food, the bar is a nice size, it has great music, and the location is good.

Service is *excellent*: friendly, attentive, and prompt. Patio ambience is *very* relaxing: sunshine, shade, planes flying overhead. But the soundtrack *blows*(in my opinion): Sugar Ray, Smashmouth, OMC(«How Bizarre»), Wallflowers, Counting Crows, No Doubt, Everlast, etc. Really. Does anyone even like this shyte any more? Maybe in Billings, MT. Or maybe the contingent of early-30-somethings(3⁄5 of the total clientele at City Council) still like this music … but most people whom I know in that demographic prefer ‘80s tunes over these late-‘90s tunes. The group of 8 next to me were from this demographic, yet they mocked the music. I want to reiterate the highlights: service and ambience on the patio. I had a wonderful time just chillin’ on the patio with a coupla’ pints of IPAs, glorious sunshine, great service, and a really bad soundtrack. :-)

Fellow Unilocalers, come by this new business and give it a try! City Council is located in a trendy up town area of the city. We were greeted promptly by the hostess who worked with us on seating. It was a cold night so we sat somewhere in the middle of the restaurant. Totally dig the décor and atmosphere. There’s a warmth to this place. The servers are friendly. Nothing pretentious about this place. I didnt think the drinks would be sweet enough for me. They sweetened the drinks up for me which made me super happy. Another Unilocaled complained of too much ice. I’m an ice person so I was happy to have plenty of it. My drink didn’t sit long enough to get watered down. So you don’t like a lot of ice just tell your server. The menu is hard to read but they are working on new ones. It’s not a deal breaker. I ordered farro, brussel sprouts, candied pecans and tuna. It was served on a cast iron skillet. The farro was cooked to perfection. I savored every bite. The only problem was with the tuna. I ordered it rare and it was delivered nearly cooked. I think that was because it’s served on a cast iron skillet. The tuna probably continued to cook. I’ve been craving that dish ever since. I’m going to go back for it! My fiancé gobbled up his pasta dish and enjoyed his drinks. The manager came by and asked how the meal was. We were honest and they offered to correct the problem by taking back my tuna. I declined. It wasn’t so bad that it needed to be sent back. The manager said they were working to improve the food and drink menu. They are getting feedback and taking it seriously. I can appreciate that. My biggest complaint is the lack of parking. Fortunately they have valet which resolves that problem. Try out City Council. Drinks are reasonable, the food is tasty and the service is tip top.

City Council is located at the old Boxwood Tap and Bar building. This place has that«neighborhood bar» feel appeal. The food is quasi-healthy and flat out amazing. They have a handful of specialty drinks that’s quite different from the norm. The brunch is my favorite part of the menu and it will be yours too. I find myself migrating back on the weekends for the nightlife, which at times they have a DJ and it’s usually packed — but not overbearing. I must press upon my fellow Unilocalers local to Dallas to stop by and check it out. If you don’t, the terrorists win.
