Hosted my sister’s bridal shower at Eden and I was so pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service, food & tea! The entire«high tea» experience was just absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend. Planning was easy, even though I live in California and had to do everything over the phone.

UPDATE!!! Back again on a Wednesday night. Cheeseburger, Sage Burger, Veggie Lasagne and a HUGE plate of French fries topped off by some Blueberry-Cobbler-thing that was decadent but not dangerous given the four spoons and an equal number of mouths! The food and service was it’s usual awesome. These folks don’t get into a hurry and you can just feel your meal being prepared and plated with care by Chef Karen. And the server Kay… well, she’s beyond personable – a real delight! Kudos again. #bestkeptsecret Wednesday night and popped into Edens for a burger: Bacon with Gouda and all the trimmings. And even though fries aren’t on the menu Chef Karen was willing to make them and… wow! The only reason I am giving the burger a «9» is so I can give the fries a «10». Highly recommend. Quaint. Quite. Great service. Our server cared and why wouldn’t she considering she commutes almost two hours each way to work! Definitely going back.

Nice homey restaurant with seasonal dishes. Good service set in a old home. Decent prices and very fresh food. This was my go to place for berries and cream for a long while but the last time it wasn’t as good as all the other times. I haven’t given up on the place but I am more hesitant when needing a berries and cream fix. Since it is in a remodeled home, parking may be an issue.

Dallas best kept secret! This place has the intimate setting that Dallas very much needs. The food is to die for and the pastries are to kill for! The chef/owner is absolutely wonderful. Don’t believe me just check it out for yourself :)

For a couple years I’d always pass by this little restaurant, and because it’s so darn cute and interesting I wanted to go. After reading awesome reviews, my husband took me there on a surprise date. Yay!!! Not really. First off, Susan(I believe that’s her name), was absolutely the sweetest from start to finish!!! We loved her. We were the only ones there. The chef was running a little late because she was feeding her dogs. No biggie! We love dogs! We finally ordered our food. The composed salad… wasn’t anything too special. Plus, I found a HAIR under everything. I bit my tongue and didn’t say anything. I don’t know why… I had the quiche with mushrooms and asparagus. I admit it was yummy! But… the asparagus on the side was overcooked. My husband had… I forgot the name(it’s been a while) but it was shrimp with a flaky pastry like shell on top. Lovely presentation. But he wasn’t impressed. That itself blew me away! One last thing. The Chef never came out to greet us. We were the only ones there I mean, so it would’ve been nice. That to me… just knocked off soooo many points. My expectations were not met at all. So I wouldn’t go back.

A couple friends and I visited Eden for the first time last Friday evening. Since we are into BYOB restaurants, we were hoping that it would be as good as Urbano Café in Dallas or Gregory’s Bistro in McKinney. However, we were sorely disappointed. We had called ahead and let them know we would arrive between 7:30 — 7:45 pm. We should have suspected something when there were no other cars in the parking lot and we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Eden may receive good reviews during breakfast, brunch and lunch, but they did not seem to be prepared for dinner customers on a weekend night. I ordered the beef tenderloin and my friend ordered the pork tenderloin which were both supposed to be served with mashed potatoes and burgundy gravy. Much to our surprise, the waitress informed us that they were out of mashed potatoes and served us greasy cubed new potatoes(breakfast) instead. Our other friend ordered the Texas Crepes and was very disappointed since they were made with dark meat chicken and were loaded with cheese. Also, we were served sweet breakfast bread and muffins instead of dinner rolls or bread. Although our waitress was very friendly, she was not very knowledgeable about the menu items and had to keep going back to the kitchen to speak with the chef. At no time did the chef come out and speak to us even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. We never heard anyone in the kitchen so we had no idea where our food was being prepared. One more warning … they charge $ 5 per wine bottle instead of a flat corkage fee for the table. On a positive note, my beef tenderloin and the salad were delicious.

It is Sunday after 12:30. Usually a very busy time for restaurants. They serve brunch but there is only a couple tables filled. They must have started our brunch from scratch because the service was unbearably slow. The gazpacho soup with cucumber was delicious. The room was uncomfortably hot. IMHO, it was overpriced for the underwhelming experience.

A refuge for my wife and I. Their zucchini tempura with sage sauce is breathtaking. This flat house must have a really good backyard filled with lots of herbs. As long as our experience of a few times during lunch or late lunch time, it seemed the kitchen was run only by a single person, and we’ve never seen other customers(maybe we just went to strange hours). Food served within moderate time but I’m not sure how it gets with more(/multiple) customers.

I can’t remember when I had such an intimate dinner with my wife… The house is warm and inviting and the service is incredible with knowledgable people who love Eden. I think we are so use to chain restaurants rushing us(public) around its nice to have great conversation and incredible food. We first ordered the Tempura Boudin Balls and Zucchini and then moved to the Southern Style Shrimp in Herb Butter(Magical… shrimp cooked perfectly) En Croute. My wife ordered the Salmon Florentine En Croute also«Magical». The plates were cleaned… I think I fell in love with the chef every time I took a bite. We ordered dessert(Plum Clobber) for home and I took one bite and I’m glad my wife got her own. I honestly put my name on it… I’ve never done that before. I gave it 5 stars… The service was a 5… The appetizers were a 5… The Entrée was a 5… Dessert was a 5… If anything fell below that, I would say something. I’m looking forward to Sunday Brunch to try the Hollandaise sauce. I will tell others…

I’ve eaten at Karen’s café a couple of times, and was surprised and delighted with each visit. This place is what I had been searching for in Dallas, and I wish more people knew of it! Karen is the sole chef, lovingly making high quality home cooked meals out of a cozy home on Lovers. The beautiful variety of bread you’re greeted with is delicious, the ambiance is quaint and cozy – perfect environment for a slow meal with people you love. The food is hands-down impressive and delicious. I had the pleasure of coming in for her Easter brunch buffet – everything from plum-roasted hen, lamb, many tasty vegetable dishes, I could go on forever. We all got seconds and loved every bite. The dishes were all unique and the desserts were to-die-for. Meals have become too rushed in our culture, and this place is a wonderful setting to be present and enjoy the moment. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because I’m a bit of a coffee snob, but I can’t honestly expect organic fair-trade perfectly roasted and brewed coffee everywhere I go. And I would also appreciate slightly faster service, especially in the beginning of the meal. If I could give 4 ½ stars, I would! I would take anyone visiting Dallas to Café Eden before anywhere else! Did I mention it’s BYOB? Bottomless mimosas, anyone?

I have nothing but the most positive things to say about Café Eden and the Chef, Karen Kahn. I am also a chef with a food snob streak a mile wide… and Ms Kahn has never, NEVER in the 20 years I have dined at her table(in one place or another) let me down. Her presentation is impeccable, her food excellent, creative fresh and original. she made my wedding cake. It was so elegant and so delicious, I almost want to get married over again so I can have another one. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Café Eden!!! It is overdue time for me to write a review on Karen Kahn’s Eden Café. This place has the best Eggs Benedict I have tasted since living in Newport, RI in the late 90s when Muriel’s on the Corner used to be extant. Muriel made the best clam chowder in all of New England and her Eggs Benedict and variations upon Eggs Benedict were superb. So were her burgers. Steven Spielberg had dined there while filming Amistad and she named a burger«The Spielburger» after him. Karen Kahn is a master chef who has made a living in the 5 star hotel business for years before opening up this little gem on Lovers Lane. She is a fantastic chef. Even took my family here… a place suitable for my mom, who is known to be an outstanding cook. It’s worth the stop in for this excellent brunch food or I imagine any time you want to for lunch or dinner. She serves fresh fruit with your meal and good bread. The coffee is good. I think there is probably nothing bad here. She might even accommodate you on some egg dishes not on the menu if you ask. Only reason I don’t give 5 stars is I don’t go often enough nor have tried enough of the menu to comfortably rate her 5. But I can’t imagine such a rating is far off in the future.

So what do you do when your body is falling apart and you are feeling emotional? Obvious answer: eat chocolate cake. I asked the bf to pick up a slice of chocolate cake from Eden. He picked up the five layer(fudge?) chocolate cake. It came with a sliced strawberry and ice cream. It was very good. Moist with a loose crumb. I probably would have given four stars to the restaurant but my bf had a drawn out experience for a to go order which should have just entailed boxing up a to go order. It seems like the restaurant might just have a small staff. I don’t think it should have taken over 5 minutes, but I still wouldn’t downvote the restaurant.

OMG! The owner of this restaurant is INSANE!!! I just saw her comment. As I stated in my EARLIER review… I came in at 7:30PM. It was actually still light outside because we went at the end of Summer, even though I took my time in writing my review in September because I didn’t want to still be upset when I wrote it. AND, her comment is saying I am VEGAN and I CLEARLY state I ordered SALMON… when Salmon becomes vegan, please let me know!!! And, after I wrote this review another person who had the SAME experience I had contacted me and said that this owner contacted Unilocal and spent MONTHS having her pictures taken off the Unilocal posting. Go if you wish. I just give you MY experience. Someone else might have a difference experience. Unilocal is about communicating with other Unilocalers about our experience and I stand by what I originally wrote!

What a neat place! Eden looks just like someone’s house on the outside and on the inside. Like most of the other reviews, the service was very slow. But, the food was great. The breads that were set on the table to start with were some of the best I had ever eaten. I had to try a couple bites of each kind. They were all very moist and delicious. I had the marinated mushroom and artichoke salad an an appetizer. The taste was great, but I would have liked it better if it hadn’t been so cold. My main course was the sage burger with both feta AND Swiss cheese. The flavors of the burger and two cheeses blended together very well, but it wasn’t the highest quality of meat. Some bites were a little too chewy for my liking. All in all, I really liked the place and would go back again if for nothing else the ambience. And the breads.

I wanted to like this place so much. Even now, I will most likely give it another try. This place has a charming atmostphere, the food was very good + BYOB!!! but the service was beyond slow. On a Saturday night in May, our group had a reservation. We wanted a place to talk and linger… but our dinner took about 4 hours. Which ruined our after-dinner plans. I had the vegetable lasagna and salad which were excellent. The uncomfortably warm temperature we felt upon arriving never improved, even when the ceiling fan was turned on. The waitress informed us there was one waitress(herself) and the chef. Which explains why she was running around like crazy but could never seem to catch up. And also explains why the food, although delicious, was kinda cold when served.:(((And why we waited forever for water glasses, for the menu, for the food, for the check. Again the waitress went above and beyond to do her best to serve our table and all the tables and she profusely apologized. Next time, I will call in advance and if they have at least 3 waitresses, I will give it another chance. My suggestion: reduce the # of items on the menu(its needlessly extensive) and hire more staff. This place is not cheap — I would have appreciated a heads-up before we were seated that the dinner would take F O R E V E R.

I was invited here for a Birthday celebration for a close friend. I have never heard of the place and was a bit skeptical so read all the great reviews here on Unilocal. The only reason I did not give the place 5 stars is because two of the responses here on Unilocal by the owner, I thought they were unprofessional and not necessary. However, they did get 4 stars because the service was exceptional and both the owner and server were extremely gracious and patient with our group and half of us were deaf. The food served on the buffet setting for our group was great, I though the plum sauce that came with the chicken was a bit sweet but all the food was great. The breads were very moist but small however considering I am suppose to be counting calories I guess that is a good thing. I also tried the pork tenderloin which was really good but I am not sure what kind of sauce it had but I had a lingering alcohol taste in my mouth after trying it. Chocolate covered strawberries, total win, the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream another win. Really I think I need to go back and give this place a try when I can actually pick from the menu opposed to a preselected buffet menu. We had a great night and like I said the owner was extremely gracious which contradicted the vibe I got from reading her two responses here in response to other reviewers who gave them bad reviews. I might even come back with a date, its that kind of place, small and intimate!

Great food, atmosphere and service. Slower than Chili’s or Celebration, etc. of course because the food is MADETOORDER, not frozen and deep fried or drowned with salt. The bathroom debate is honestly ridiculous considering folks are going into the quite obvious employee bathroom. The place is small, can you really not locate the guest bathroom? Regardless…the quiche, burgers, and sandwiches are amazing. Lunch is a quicker service than dinner and the BYOB policy is a plus. Chef Karen’s hospitality and pastries are always a welcome treat at the end of a delicious meal. What a nice lady and place to go for any meal(lunch, dinner, or brunch) high tea, or party of any sort.

It took me weeks to do my research to think of the perfect place for a Bridal Shower — and I decided to go with Eden. Why do you ask? The owner/chef Karen was very nice when I spoke to her over the phone and no matter how many times I called to ask about this and that, she was very pleasant with me and very patient.(I also Unilocaled a ton of places and this place had great reviews — thanks Unilocal once again!) We had a good group of ladies at the shower(about 12 people) and we were able to reserve the back of the restaurant so we could play games and be as loud as we wanted to :)(I hope we weren’t too loud!) The place isn’t too hard to find, but if you go a little too far, it’s a quick U-turn. There’s parking in front of the restaurant and you can actually park at the stores to the right and left of Eden. Although it’s not a big restaurant, I like how quaint and cozy it makes you feel. It’s definitely an ideal place to come for a quiet lunch/dinner or to go on a romantic date where you can actually HEAR what the other person is saying. When I first walked in — the first thing I noticed(on the right, where the cashier is) was the window displaying delicious looking cakes! Yummmmy *drooool* Definitely gotta come back to try a slice.. .or 2.. . or 3: P Our reservation was at 3, but they let me come earlier to set up and decorate. And let me tell you there aren’t very many places that offer High Tea on Sunday with flexible hours! They were very easy going with letting me do whatever I wanted with the room — they were even going to let me play my own music! I also was able to rearrage the tables according to how we were going to play the games — the staff was more than willing to help me with the set up and they always came back to check up to see if I needed anything — super super nice people. When everyone sat down and we were ready for our High Tea experience, it was WAY beyond what I was expecting(and I think everyone else was amazed and blown away). The first course was tea sandwiches and they were so MANY! We had 4 kinds: Egg salad, Cucumer/cream cheese, Salmon, and Pimento cheese. Second course were the scones, tiny muffins, and zucchini bread w/mascarpone cheese, jelly, & butter. SOOO delicious when you put some of the mascarpone cheese + jelly on the scones. Last course was the desserts: Chocolate dipped apricots, mini lemon bars, and other yummy baked goods(don’t know the exact names of em, but they sure were yummy!). We were also given a menu of teas before the date of the shower so we could choose which one to have with which course. We were actually able to have 4 teas and they were all really good: Honeyed Plum, Fusion White & Green, Jasmine Green, and Orange Spice Black. My favorites were the Fusion W&G and the Orange Spice Black. We had a game for each course and we played an extra game at the end — I thought we were only going to be there for about 2 hours, but it lasted FOUR hours! We had so much fun and they let us take our time with indulging in the delicious goodies that we didn’t even know time went by so fast. AND the BEST thing of all was that we had a TON of leftovers — all in which they packaged up nicely for us: we had SEVEN boxes of leftovers!!! Needless to say, we were MORE than satisfied, even to the next day when we ate our leftovers. I’d definitely recommend this place for private parties — and I’ll definitely be back for lunch and dinner. Oh — and I forgot to mention that the price is very affordable for High Tea(look at their website or call them for pricing). You can also BYOB with a $ 5 corkage fee and they provide glasses and champagne flutes. Thanks Chef Karen + team for the wonderful setup and delicious treats and tea! :)
