Hiatus strives for the ultimate «experience», and our goal is to make each service a sensory journey. Each core service is complemented by a soothing foot soak, customized aromatherapy, aromatic steam towels, and a relaxing hand and foot massage.

Massages include: Swedish, Thai, Expectant Mother, Chakra Balancing, Sports Therapy, Hot Stone, Couples, and Deep Tissue.

Facials include: Perfecting Plant Peel, Green Science, Thirsty Skin, Purifying, and the new Enbrightenment. We also feature «Relaxing Waxing», customized with two types of wax for the best hair removal results.

Enjoy a body treatment in the hyrdotherapy room, complete with vichy shower, for glowing skin. And, our new nail therapy lounge features the «Best Mani Pedi in Dallas» 2011, by D Magazine Editors

History

Established in 2007.

Sheila and I spent a good year building this concept. We felt there was a hole in the spa market. It’s easy to find high-end spas with high-end price tags, and on the flip-side, there are also plenty of massage clubs out there that have a great price but no frills and little ambiance.

With that in mind, we decided to create Hiatus Spa + Retreat, a place where you can escape for an hour or two, take a break (hence the name, Hiatus) and not pay an arm and a leg for great spa services. Having a massage or facial shouldn’t be a special treat or an indulgence, but a prescription for wellness on the inside and out.

The H-Circle is the membership plan offered to all guests, although non-members are always welcome. Join the program and you receive significant discounts on all spa services. I have been to Hiatus twice now; a relaxing massage birthday treat from my cousin and a couples massage wedding present from our good friends!
Both times, the service was exceptional and I left feeling relaxed.
Upon walking into the spa, the staff are attentive and provide you with a relaxing hot cup of tea to start and then guide you to the locker rooms which are clean and have an array of Aveda products to sample. In the locker room, you are given cozy white bathrobes and slippers which make you feel more in the mood that it’s relaxation time!
Once you are ready, your therapists that are assigned to you are waiting outside the locker room area with smiles — ready provide you service of their foot soak/bath — which is great especially if you have been on your feet the whole day.
Once you are in your massage room, I especially like where your therapist asks what kind of aromatherapy scent you are keen to compared to other places I’ve been to that do not ask. I’m very particular in which I LOVE the scent of Eucalyptus and is my must. The session begins with the inhalation of your chosen scent which starts you off as relaxed and in the mood of total relaxation. I love that the therapists listen to your needs and concern areas.
Overall, I am very impressed with Hiatus and would definitely be back. Im particularly curious about their mani/pedi services especially the zero-gravity chair! Sounds like heaven!
Through my two visits, the service remains consistent and I can see why it is ranked one of the best spas in the metroplex!

I went here using a gift card from a friend. Pricey, for sure, but I was so intrigued by the «guided meditation» included with a stress relief massage.
The atmosphere was very nice, super relaxing when I was taken back into the so area. However, the receptionists were very odd. They forgot to offer me a cup of tea, one woman ran to get one, handed it to the receptionist who was helping me, and the receptionist started exclaiming like the cup was burning her! I was very alarmed and found myself compelled to rescue her by taking the cup… Which was not not really at all. She explained that she «hates hot things.» It was all just kind of unprofessional.
Anyway, I don’t want to name my massage therapist because they were very kind and very good at massage– I’m something of a connoisseur— but I was completely disappointed by the «guided meditation.»
I specifically chose this massage (rather than say, deep tissue for some problem areas I’ve been having) because I was both intrigued by the innovative idea of massage + meditation and because it added something new to the same old massage. Well, I will just tell you the «meditation» *literally* consisted of– «take a few deep breaths» said twice to me and «focus on a stress-free trip,» (I was leaving on vacation), and «breathe in the good and out the bad.»
Completely misrepresented this service in my opinion and I don’t blame the massage therapist because I got the distinct impression that’s just how they run these in their company. This was a regular old
Massage. Plus it very much felt on autopilot — I had pointed out a couple of trouble spots that were paid no more attention than anything else… it was like it was just a standard protocol of going through the motions. Maybe because my massage was late in the day.

I really enjoyed my visit to Hiatus in Austin. The reception was warm but efficient, and the waiting area is quiet and pleasant, with easy access to fruit-infused water or hot tea. My facial with DeDee was great. She was also the best combination of warm and welcoming, yet efficient and professional when appropriate. My skin has felt great all week! I would go back.

Environment — A metro retreat with simple and serene décor. The Floorplan is well accommodating to modest groups. There is relaxing spa music throughout the entire venue. The only detractors are noise from the a/c and adjacent hallways. Our experience was generally quiet, professional, positive and relaxing.
Facilities & Equipment– Everything from the entry to the mens changing room was clean, organized and in good shape. Absolutely no complaints. The changing rooms are complete with personal lockers, showers and enough toiletries to walk out ready to go after your appointments.
Staff — They were mostly positive and informative. They made sure to follow up on our appointment and included a quick consultation before each service. The only snag we ran into was some confusion between the SpaWeek gift card vs. the SpaWeek event which management immediately stepped in and clarified.
Services:
Meet and Greet — We were promptly greeted and given paperwork to profile ourselves as first-time customers. Some of the paper is a bit redundant but necessary for health and business code. The front desk is full of product and information, even for the Spa charity. We were taken to the changing room by the receptionist and briefed on the process before robing up.
Pedicure — Keiko and Nikki. Keiko was thorough and did a great job doing my foot massage by hitting get all the pressure points. Nikki knew that this was my friends 1^st time having a pedi much less a spa day. No tickling or pain which is perfect for him. We were given a neck warmer, eye mask and headphones. We never had to stop relaxing in the zero gravity chairs. The wakeup process was the worst part only because we didn’t want it to end.
Facial — Crystal & Sarah did a great job. Crystal convinced me to add a pumpkin exfoliation and explained the benefits and risks of the service as well as my own regimen. They both were down to earth and a great conversation. Listening to your clients is also theraputic. After the service was complete, my skin felt amazingly fresh and clean.
Massage — I originally wanted a male, as well as my friend however there was no availability that day. Since I was coming in from out of town, this was OK. I elected to have Jen as my masseur. My friend had Toby. Jen did a great job asking me about any concerns or areas to focus on prior to our service. Toby was the same as well. We also elected to have the «couples retreat» which was an extra $ 20.00. I will say unless you are hell bent on being in the same room, there’s really no benefit since you’re too relaxed to talk and your face is buried in the massage table through the first half of the massage. If you like to be quiet and your friend or partner goes with you, you’re better off using that $ 20.00 on an add-on.
Price — Definitely the lower priced of most spa retreats of this caliber. Hiatus can be a getaway for a day or a way to splurge on a more high end mani pedi experience without breaking the bank.
Overall, I’m definitely hooked and planning a return visit. Hiatus seems to take their customers seriously as well as the spa experience. You deserve a day of relaxation and Hiatus can deliver!

THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME.
My inlaws gave me a gift card, which I used towards a 60 minute prenatal massage and the focus pedicure.
The massage was with Arienne, and it was *SERIOUSLY* the best massage I’ve ever had in my life. They have an AWESOME set up for pregnant women– they have this cushion thing that has cut outs for boobs and the giant belly, so you can actually lay on your stomach. I don’t think I would’ve paid $ 110 on a prenatal massage before being gifted this one, and I think I’m going to have to go back AT LEAST once a month until this baby is born!
The pedicure was kind of weird– you’re in a zero gravity chair (so, you’re laying on your back in a comfortable V position), you have headphones with relaxing music on, and you have an eye mask on… all fantastic, but I can’t say that a pedicure itself is something that I find relaxing (the cutting of the nails, filing, etc). So it was sort of odd having that done while not being able to see. It was still a really great experience, and if you’re looking for more relaxation than a regular pedicure, this is the way to go.

After the phone call I made to your spa, I would not be making an appointment if I had not already purchased a package online. I would recommend teaching the receptionists a bit of telephone etiquette. For example, answer the phone with a greet rather than «Hello.Hello.have you been helped?» I thought I had reached the wrong number because I had NO IDEA if Hiatus spa was who I called. A 20 minute phone call is FAR to long to JUST make an appointment. I strongly hope your other staff knows more about customer service than your receptionist does.

Very rude front desk. I walked in from working out and no one greeted me. I wanted info, but the lady at the desk was to busy ignoring me and texting. I had to go up to the desk and ask she just pointed to the menu, and rolled her eyes. I left asap. I am not giving this place my money. If they are going to treat people that way.

Absolutely love this place. I can’t believe I’ve been spending my money at massage envy! The prices here are very reasonable and they use all Aveda products. This place is gorgeous and upscale, you would think you are at the ritz Carlton or joule hotel spa. They also have showers you can use after your massage!!! Perfect for moms on the go, no minute wasted. They have a membership for $ 65 a month that you can use toward a massage, mani pedi or facial! Absolutely love!

I have continued visiting this spa since my original review, and am still an H-Circle member (I have now recruited both my husband and my sister to join me!), but I wanted to add that I have seen both Zoya Reynolds (for facials and massage) and Brandon Narcisse (for massage) and I can highly recommend both of them as practicioners!
It’s nice that Zoya also does facials, because you can book back-to-back sessions and never get off the table or have to leave the room! She gave me a firm-but-gentle massage, which was much-needed (and exactly as I described to her) since I have neuropathy issues in my legs and can be a bit sensitive (i.e.: it HURTS) under too much pressure.
I’ll admit it was exactly that reason that kept me away from male masseurs in the past, but when my sister visited town and we wanted to book at the same time, I randomly chose Brandon Narcisse for my service. I was apprehensive that his ‘man hands’ were going to be too rough for me, but LET. ME. TELL. YOU. He gave me probably the most MAGNIFICENT 80-minute massage I have ever had. Somehow– and I am not a petite flower, mmmkay?- he practically lifted me off the table at times and I felt like weightless fluff by the time he was done.
I cannot say if either of them is good for those SERIOUS deep massages (although just from mere appearances alone, I’d say you stand a good chance with Brandon) because I don’t like that type, but I could not have been more satisfied with my services from Zoya and Brandon and recommend them if you are unsure of who to try.
I also noticed that Rebecca Higgins is now providing service at the Plano location. I don’t know if this is an exclusive move for her or not, but she’s worth the trip if you’re waffling!

I love this place so much. I’ve only been here twice but both times were amazing. I live in California but love to visit Texas once in a while and every time I come I always stop by and enjoy this spa. The min you step out of the changing room you feel automatically relaxed, free from all stress. They have this amazing tea that I can’t remember the name but it is so soothing. The music they play is like an ear massage… lol
The massage therapists are the best. They are given a paper that you personally fill out, letting them know what areas you want more focus on. Once they arrive they give you some options on oils which are all great and they go to work.
This establishment is very professional, very clean, and the customer service is amazing. This is no «happy ending» spa, or some trashy place. You pay for the experience which is a great one.
I’m actually flying to Texas on Friday the 11^th and I’m going to make my appointment tomorrow. Ive been very stressed from work and this is exactly what I need. I would recommend this place to all my friends, as it was to me by a good friend who lives in Texas.

Where to start…
I have had many massages and the setting and service of this spa would certainly rank number two of all my experiences.
I had an aromatic Swedish massage that was service to me by Lee (male).
I’ve never had an issue with a male masseuse but Lee’s service was by far the most unique experience of all.
He was soft-spoken, soft to the touch and made sure I was comfortable with his pressure during the massage.
One thing I noticed that was particularly focused more than other areas was my butt. From the beginning of the massage all through the middle, towards the very end, my butt was not left out, rather felt like a focal point.
Also toward the end of the massage as I was laying on my back and my neck was the focus (second to my butt) Lee made sure to stretch my head to the left into the right and while doing so there was no mistake I felt him breathing invasively close to my neck — heavily.
Although it felt a bit awkward as I had never experienced such intimacy during a massage and could have easily mistaken myself for being on Harry Hines for a few brief moments, it really wasn’t all that bad.
I can’t say I walked away feeling dirty but maybe just a slight bit naughty.

I really, REALLY want to love this place.
I can get a massage anywhere, but what I really love about Hiatus place is the ambiance. Now that I have a favorite masseuse there I can always count on a great massage. However, before I met the wonderful and talented Gina (highly recommended) I did have a heavy breather (gentleman) and a wheezer (lady.) Not really their fault I guess, we all get allergies, but it kind of ruined the mood for me. So, despite that, if I could rate the massage individually I would give it five stars.
What brings my rating down is the front desk folks and the last Hiatus mani/pedi retreat I had.
I am an H-Circle member, so I spend a lot of time and money at Hiatus Dallas. Sometimes, not all the time, the front desk girls treats my mother and I like such an inconvenience when we want to schedule two appointments together a month in advance. (Really, we just want to take advantage of the special times reserved only for H-Circle members — and it’s easier to do it in person after our massage because they’re not always great about answering the phone.) There is one woman, she is older and a little peculiar, who always acts like we’ve asked her to do an advanced calculus problem instead of look at a calendar. It makes me feel like I’m asking for a favor instead of paying (a good amount of) money for a service.
The last Hiatus mani/pedi retreat I had yesterday was so disappointing. My polish chipped later that same day on multiple fingers. I think maybe the polish is old, or they didn’t wipe the oil off well enough before they put the paint on. This also happened to my mother on the same day with a different therapist. Either way, they agreed to let us come in today to fix it. (Which we really appreciate.) It’s just kind of inconvenient and out of our way. I also felt rushed by the nail therapist — which seemed odd since I was her first appointment of the day and I was early because I had a massage scheduled before.
Lastly, and the thing I find most disconcerting, yesterday Hiatus’ machines were down and today I checked my email and had a separate digital receipt for a gratuity different than the one I approved for my nail therapist. (This was not charged along with my other services, I had left a tip in cash.) I’m assuming this was a mistake on the part of the business because they were having technical difficulties — their systems were down — but I’m not okay with someone charging my card without my knowledge or consent.
Anyway, to anyone thinking about booking here for the first time, overall I think I’d recommend a massage here — but make sure you do your research first. I wouldn’t recommend a mani/pedi at this time. And I would also check your receipts diligently after a service, just to be sure.
Of course, if the business reaches out to me, or I learn anything new at my touch up appointment today, I will absolutely update this review to reflect.

Relaxing atmosphere in the full service Aveda Spa. I had a deep tissue massage and the masseuse was very careful with my injured shoulder.
I left fully relaxed and felt rejuvenated. Highly recommend.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was in the ladies lounge there should have been a blow dryer for customers use and the wonderful Aveda hair care product in the shower.

Brought two of my other hardworking mama girlfriends for a little R&R. Hiatus delivered on quality and service. We each had the Hiatus Trio: massage, facial, and mani-pedi. The robes are comfy (even for us bigger girls), the relaxation room is tranquil, and the staff was courteous and professional. One of my girls had a facial expert who pushed the add-ons a bit much and the facial is botanical-based (not good for someone like me who’s allergic to pretty much every plant and tree). But, they did what they could to accommodate me. The mani-pedi was amazing all around. Massages were great. All in all, a great experience and a great time hanging with my girls!

I’ve been making monthly Hiatus visits for seven years now, and I still love it! I get a monthly mani/pedi retreat and a massage. If you haven’t had a mani/pedi retreat, you should try it. It’s an hour and a half of pampering, in a zero gravity chair, and it’s just as relaxing as a massage — maybe more so. Regular visits to Hiatus are a wonderful way to nurture myself, and a membership makes it affordable.

This is a great place to get a mani/pedi for sure! They use SpaRitual nail polish, so it does not have the same chemicals as other nail polish brands. It also does not smell like a typical nail salon. You lay back in a big comfy chair and optional sea sound/thunderstorm music while they work their magic. I always find myself falling asleep even when I am not tired because I am so relaxed.
I have also had a body wrap/massage and facial here as part of a package once. I love their monthly body wrap package (peppermint for December, Lavender for spring, etc). I loved that experience. If I could afford it, I would go monthly. The facial was okay, but I have a hard time paying for the service which I feel I can give myself at home.
This is my favorite day spa, but all spas are crazy expensive for massages which makes it hard to go. Also, usually spa massage are not as good as individual masseuses who can really cater to my needs (usually spas do not let their employees do really deep tissue due to liability I think).
If you want a spa getaway in Dallas, this is in a great area for food and some shopping on a spa day!

When I left my 80 minute deep tissue massage with Jacqueline (sp?) I wished someone a happy Saturday and they informed me it was Sunday! That’s how good my massage was. I was in such a zen like state I didn’t even know what day it was.
The atmosphere is warm, peaceful and inviting. It’s so calming and the staff is great at communicating and making you feel right at home. Even the waiting room is peaceful. The lighting is dim and romantic/relaxing. The tea is comforting and the water is also delicious. They have people in and out at all times ensuring the place is tidy which is a nice touch. I absolutely loved my experience here and I get massages regularly so I can appreciate a legit spa when I find one.
Customer service is top notch, caring therapists, and an overall welcoming and peaceful atmosphere is hard to beat!!! My therapist also didn’t talk my ear off. She did her thing and we talked when it was appropriate! Loved it! She was awesome and I love this place! I will absolutely be back!!! This was by far one of the best deep tissues I have had in the DFW area. I would have to say it’s a pretty close tie for the Mokara Spa in Ft Worth at the Omni.

This spa has a relaxing, upscale and elegant vibe.
My group booked two massages and two mani/pedi combos. We booked a few weeks in advance but weren’t able to get 4 services together. (Book Early)
(Someone called in sick so it was a bit of a hassle initially. They bumped one appt back and hour, which wasn’t going to work. They ended up with a no-show so at least we got the pedicure, just a manicure short. It was a bit of a stress right before the appt but such is life. I would rather the person stay home then breath sick germs everywhere).
The nail room is cozy with 4 chairs but it doesn’t really matter. You answer a few basic questions about shape, color and trimming and then Zzzz with the zero gravity chair, eye mask and headphones, take well deserved snooze.
The mani/pedi itself wasn’t out of this world but the overall experience was great!
Both friends said the massages were great!
As others have said, the dressing room is tight but adequate. I prefer having the spacious relaxation room anyway.
It isn’t inexpensive but definitely worth a splurge when you need it.

I’ve been a member at this location for over a year. The ambiance is nice and relaxing. They always offer tea and ice water infused with some kind of fruit. The locker room is always clean and has almost everything you need if you decide to take a shower there. Every service starts off with a nice foot bath. I’ve gotten the massages, facials, and body treatments (mostly massages). It’s really a hit or miss depending on the therapist. I tried the facial and body treatment a few times, but it isn’t worth the cost. I don’t even remember what the services consisted of, all I remember is thinking «that’s it?» once it was over. Maybe I might have noticed the benefits of the facials had I gotten it regularly?
So for the massage technicians.
Cemetria is my favorite — she talks to you and really tries to give you the type of massage you need. But she’s hard to get an appointment with because she stays super booked. Chase is good, but he seems like he’s in a rush. Demetrius’s style is a little weird. He does his massage differently from the other therapists. Normally I’m not ticklish, but I had to concentrate so I wouldn’t laugh. The two therapists I didn’t have a good experience with was Zoya and Talitha. They didn’t seem to really put their back in to it. They never asked me if the pressure was okay or asked me about my problem areas.
On another note– The online appointment scheduler is super convenient and easy to use and cancelling my platinum membership (due to a move) was also very simple and easy.

Love this place! It is so relaxing, I have a high stress job as an ICU nurse and I am so glad to have found this spa for my ‘me time, spa day.’ I look forward to my appointments once a month or more.
Massages:
Highly recommend Chase for massages/prenatal massages and Keiko Pyles for the mani pedi retreat. I was 7 or 8 months pregnant at the time of my last massage and I was very comfortable in a modified massage table, I felt like I was floating during my prenatal massage, it’s a good thing! After the massage I felt rejuvenated, especially my hands and feet!
Mani/Pedi:
I am pretty sure I have fallen asleep about 3 to 4 times during the mani pedi retreat with Keiko and one time I woke myself up by snoring. So embarrassing, but that’s how good Keiko is and how relaxing the ambiance is. The reclining chair is amazing, very comfy, then you get a neck pillow, an eye mask, and headphones that place rain music. One of my favorite parts is the hot towel wraps on the feet and the mini hand/arm massage! Amaze!

Horrible Customer Service! I have been going to Hiatus for a few years and recently scheduled an appointment for the Trio and it was a very lengthy process. After I booked the appointment, I received a call from the Plano manager that I owed $ 100 for a missed appointment a couple months back due to I was very sick. She started the conversation with saying that she was told that I said I have never made an appointment in the plano location, which sounded like she was accusing me of lying before she even talked to me to ask ME what happened. She said, well YOU should’ve had someone call to cancel for you. She was very rude and handled the situation very poorly, I understand that there is a cancellation policy, but she was very rude and didn’t care to talk to me about or hear why I missed the appointment.
When I went to my Trio appointment a few days later that was confirmed by Hiatus, the Dallas location said the Plano manager cancelled my appointments!!! Nobody called or notified me that they cancelled my appointment, so do they pay me for canceling all three of my appointments? Of course not, they need to take a lesson in how to treat people. I will not be returning to Hiatus again.
The owner responded to me and resolved this issue.

Overall I really enjoyed my experience getting a massage here this morning. The place itself is a treat.
I walked in and was very politely greeted. I love aveda and the spa smells heavenly. I was walked into the locker room by a reception person. It was my very first massage and she got me my robe, shoes, and explained the lockers to me. She also explained how naked to get and that I could leave my underwear on if I didn’t want my glutes massaged. Once in the robe, there is a relaxation area that serves as a waiting area.
Here is one thing I wish I had known: if you want time to sip the delicious hot tea or cucumber water in your comfy robe and enjoy the ambience of the relaxation room, get there early! I didn’t even sit down before my therapist came out to take me back.
Anyway the tea was delicious and the room is really lovely.
The massage itself was good. I don’t have anything to compare it to since it was my first, but while I enjoyed it, I will say that I was expecting it to rock my entire world. I sit at a desk for work and have developed some back pain and I actually left the spa with the same pain, though the rest of me felt soft and relaxed. Granted, my therapist did warn me in the beginning that if I’m suffering from chronic pain, I’d need regular targeted massages.
Considering everything above, it’d be a 4 star review. But I subtracted a star because my massage therapist’s disposition was a little serious and bordering on curt. She wasn’t rude but she definitely wasn’t warm. I felt like I had offended her somehow, maybe by arriving on time instead of early, so that I had more time to change? I’m not sure. She also said something a little disparaging about my career (that the field is in danger of extinction, essentially), but I’m sure she meant no offense. Generally I just felt a little dismissed or unimportant, maybe because I am young and it was my first massage.
I won’t name the therapist because I think it’d be in poor taste. Shes good at massage and gave me a lot of good information. I’d like to go back to hiatus and try a different service.

I just need to get a membership already. I got the Glow massage, which wasn’t really a massage as it was a full body exfoliation with some light massage. It wasn’t horrible, though I would like to go back for a normal massage soon. If you do get the glow massage, know this. You will be submerged in a shower while the masseuse exfoliates your entire body with a sugar scrub. Be prepared. I have natural hair so I wasn’t worried, but just in case you decide you want to get this, it’s like taking a lay down shower. Be prepared. I loved the atmosphere, it was so quiet and friendly, and all in all, for a girl who doesn’t pamper herself enough… I will def be scheduling an appt pretty soon. They sold me:)
