Neiman Marcus – The Mermaid Bar

This place is awesome. Who knew an incredible restaurant was here. Good burger and my lady got a coffee to go that she said was awesome. Which really got her excited about and energized for some shopping. (yay?) hehe

The fish tacos were delicious! Loved the spiced tea too. Service was quick and professional. We were given ‘teas to go’ without asking. The red velvet cake was moist and good. The décor was delightful. I would definitely return.

Great spot for a lite lunch at the mall. particularly if you like salads, very inventive. Try the fish tacos, very good.

Sadly, disappointed. I ordered the Crab Louie salad and there were about 6 small pieces of crab. Not much to it considering it cost $ 22. I got a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. It tasted a few days old… They could have heated it up or something. My server was nice and attentive, but the hostess needs more training. There was a line a mile long out the door, and several open tables. Rather than going down the line and asking if there were smaller parties that could fill the 2-​tops, she waited until a 4-​top opened up to seat the next people in line. Three stars for the atmosphere… good people watching.

Let me start by saying I don’t normally rate places with 5 stars, with that being said, the mermaid bar deserves it. Being inside north park mall, makes most people skeptical, but well worth the walk through the mall. The hostess was friendly and within 30 seconds of sitting down Cyndy was there to take my drink order. I had the spiced tea which if you like orange flavor, this tea is for you. I opted for the salmon green goddess which is a salad with a filet of salmon with garden greens, avocado, tomatoes, artichoke, and cucumbers in what they call a «goddess» dressing which they say they make from scratch. The dressing is light and complements the salmon just perfectly. Then finished my meal off with a cuppuccino.
When it’s busy the seating is a little tight but I actually enjoy it because you can meet and talk with people you normally wouldn’t. The ambiance is a little noisy when it’s busy but you are in the mall. As far as currency taken, they use to take Amex cash and nieman’s cards only but now they talk the above and pretty much everything except discover.
All in all a great gem if you’re out shopping or just want to enjoy a nice time people watching and enjoying great food.
