First time today dining here. Burger lacked rich flavor even though it has some type of mayo/Cholulu sauce. The burger itself seemed pre made in the sense they were not pressed out patties. The spicy fries were somewhat tasty but they are frozen precut fries. It was lunch hour when I arrived at 12:30pm and the place was a ghost town. That should have been my first clue but wanted to give a fair shake. Best advice is to press out your own meat and freshly make your fries instead of frozen pre made. Likely would not spend anything more than the $ 5 special t this place. Other burgers were close to $ 9 I.e. Overpriced.

I first had Burguesa when it opened on Lemmon Ave. in Dallas in a little hole in the wall drive up shack similar to the Mi Casita that sits on University Dr. Now that it’s in Denton I go there on occasion, but not for the burgers, which I really enjoy, but the ONIONRINGS. There are no better onion rings in the metroplex that I have found. The fries are awesome too. Sometimes when I go I get Onion Rings and Fries because I like both of them so much. Other than that it’s just a simple burger joint. No frills, prices are great. For lunch you can get burger, fries and a drink for $ 5.

As a former vegetarian, I actually enjoyed the Monumental burger! I think I’d agree with a previous reviewer that the patties were on the thinner side, but I appreciated that. :) It was such a good combo, I never knew refried beans would be so delicious on a burger! The jalapeño on top was yummy, but a little spicy, so watch out. It hasn’t become a regular place for us, because it’s definitely a bit of a large meal, but it’s a fun place to try at least once while you’re here!

Okay, they get two stars because of their amazing spicy french fries. The burger on the other hand… let’s just say you’ll regret your decision to eat here the next morning. The burgers are garbage.

It’s really pretty good for the price. $ 5 combo with a student ID. Definitely in the fast food category but beats others.

Yikes! My first truly disappointing food experience in Denton :(Womp womp womp… After a round of games and drinks at Oak St Drafthouse, we walked over here starving and ready to eat. How exactly do you disappoint a starving person, you ask? Read on. The menu is a bit perplexing. Maybe its the drinks talking, but I just couldn’t figure out what was on one burger to the next. We had to ask the cashier about each one, individually. Perplexing. Also, the price is a bit nuts. $ 6 for a burger, no fries? This is Denton, not uptown Dallas. Get over yourself. When we finally got the burgers/fries, I found that: the spicy fries are delish(simple, shoestring fries + spice), the burgers kinda suck(I guess the ham in the middle is a Mexican thing but it was nasty), and the burger patties are seriously that packaged kind. Gross. Also, we tried to just get water to drink and none of their water pitchers were full. So much for that. Fail.

After taking two years of accumulated goods from my apartment and packing them into boxes my good friend, my dad, and I needed substance. Since Mellow Mushroom looked busy we walked across the street and tried Burguesa. I had the Pablo’s Pollo and the rest of my crew had a Burguesa. The grilled chicken on my sandwich was juicy and flavorful. I particularly loved the seasoned fries. My dad’s and my friend’s Burguesa’s were pretty good themselves though the patties were a little skinny. Other than that I liked the place! Friendly staff, large area for condiments and drinks, clean restaurant, and the little fortune cookie-tacos given out really hit the spot. I have to wonder though, maybe it was because I was in a college mindset but all that orange reminded me of another college just down the street off 35. Or maybe it was just me thinking about grad school.

I had my first Burgesa experience today, and was super impressed by the level of dedication they put into their theme. Clean design, professional menu, good branding. I was amazed that a local place had put so much effort into it… and then I did some research and found out it’s actually a small chain based in Dallas. Oh well, still nifty. The burger was good, fresh ingredients, moist but not overly greasy, but I just wasn’t really wowed by it. I got the regular fries which were pretty standard, but I’m thinking from some other reviews I should have tried the spicy. My favorite thing, though, were the Mexican sodas at the fountain. If you’re going to have a Mexican-style burger, you need a Mexican coke to go with it. Other pluses– very, VERY clean restaurant, and friendly staff. Overall, I’ll probably be back.

Yes, the burgers are great. The Monumental is a burger you must try at least once. They manage to put refried beans, a slice of ham and a crispy tostada among many other ingredients and it doesn’t taste bad. It’s quite tasty. Also, it doesn’t fall apart on you either which makes a dining experience even better. But what’s even better are the hot dogs. I wouldn’t consider myself a hot dog fan but there is something about these hot dogs. Oh yes, it’s bacon. Their bacon wrapped hot dogs are absolutely delicious. The french fries have always been hot, crispy and spicy. Drinks are always available and they have a good selection of Mexican type drinks(toronja, limonada). The restaurant is also fairly kid friendly. They have several high-chairs and they offer a lil luchador kids meal. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the manager has come to see how everything is going at every single visit that I’ve made. Décor is kinda sparse but it looks better than those restaurants with all the crap on the walls. It’s always clean and inviting.

Best mexican burger I’ve ever had! Get the super mega one from the side of the building, the one with a bean tostada on it! Won’t regret it.

The burger patties remind me of those at McD or BK. It didn’t make up for the spacious and über-clean condiment area.

I. love. Burguesa. Truth be told, the first time I went to Burguesa, I wasn’t sold. It wasn’t that the food wasn’t good. Honestly, it might have been the company I was with. I went back a second time. Then a third. Then a fourth. And I believe it was the second time my best friend and I had been to Burguesa that week when I looked up at him and said, «Oh god, Bobby. We like Burguesa don’t we?» I worry about that location. It’s in a perfectly accessible, busy area, but the building must be cursed. Hot Box went down, and I fear the same for Burguesa, if only because it’s eerily empty every time I go in. And I just don’t understand it. With the prices, the service, the food, and the location… It should be so much busier than it is. Burguesa is a wonderland of all things delicious. Their staff is friendly, they have frequent foodie cards(I’m only 2 burgers away from a free one!), their prices are dirt cheap($ 5 for a burger, fries, and a drink? COMEON), and they are generally playing some sweet jams on their stereo(You’ll only hear Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ once while eating — a sign of a true haven). Food-wise: I’m a burger purist, so I don’t believe in putting unnecessary toppings on something I consider so sacred. Generally, I follow my holy trinity rule for burgers: Rule #1: The Holy Trinity –Meat –Cheese –Singular sauce If you’ve got fresh, quality meat, you really don’t need much else. However, cheese is really not optional, because… Wait, do I even need to justify that to you? COMEON. It’s cheese. Sauce can be a hit or miss item. Traditionally, I go with mayo, but I always try ~special sauces. If the sauce is disgusting, I have a pretty clear idea that the restaurant had no idea what they were doing. I mean, if you want a nasty sauce on all of your burgers, you just aren’t trusting the burger itself. And at that point, I don’t trust you. Burguesa’s creamy sauce is beautiful. It’s a mayo-based spicy sauce that isn’t too overpowering, but most definitely addictive. They must know how good it is, because they always include an extra tub of the creamy sauce for your burger, fries, or as an after dinner shot. My first time at Burguesa, I didn’t ask for the spicy fries. That was a rookie mistake, and I should have known better. Don’t get me wrong, their fries are pretty solid. But again, with burger places, I have rules. Rule #2: Always order spicy fries. They also include a fortune taco-cookie with every meal. It’s a kitsch thing that I look forward to, as most of the time the cookie is stale and I often believe they made the same day that I was born, but I still find myself chomping away at the cinnamon-laced treat. I mean, I can’t have standards for everything, guys.

Taco fortune cookies!!! Honestly, I would just come back for those. I may be a bit naïve but I’ve never seen them before! As far as the burgers go, they are pretty mediocre. I do like the idea of the La Monumental. That was pretty good and you can take out whatever you don’t like off of it. The La Monumental includes: jalapeño on top of bun, creamy sauce, avocado, onion, tomato, lettuce, refried beans, tostada, ham, cheese, beef patty, cheese, and beef patty.($ 6.25). They also have a smaller version with only one beef patty & cheese slice.($ 5.50). They onion rings were okay. Nothing to rave about. They also have locations in Downtown Dallas, Oak Cliff, and Garland/Richardson. **All prices include tax, YAY!

Hungry and wanted food near The Square so we could walk around the area and soak in some Denton. Our choices were Love Shack or Burguesa Burger and since Burguesa had ½ a star more we decided to try it since we’re not in-town often. I was satisfied with the La Monumental I got, and was impressed by the prices. I got a small one which included cheese, and added on bacon & a fried egg, got their spicy fries, and only paid $ 7.00 for it all! I didn’t think the burger had much flavor even though there were so many different things in it, but I honestly would come back because I liked their dipping sauce, their spicy fries were okay, and the concept of a «Taco Cookie»(Taco Fortune Cookie) was absolutely cute! The vibe was cool and I loved that it was located right by the square and that we could walk around and hang out after our meal.

Walked by a few times now, then finally decided to stop in and try it. Super happy we did now, can’t believe we’ve been missing out on this place. Burgers were fresh, fries were cooked well(not mushy) and the spice added great distinctive touch(just to be a bit different). I did try the Single La Monumental and it was a home run.(You don’t have to get the double meat version). They make their own sodas too which were great with pure cane sugar. It’s a great college town type vibe, quick service, great burgers and it’s not $ 12 for a burger/fries/drink like other places.

Oh, burguesa! Why was the sesame bun so dry and somewhat stale on my second visit here? It was so dry that it tore up so easily even without me putting any pinky force on it. By the time I reached my last bite, I already had 4 broken pieces of bun like a jigsaw puzzle. The grilled chicken was flavorful but kinda dry. Love the cilantro, onions and burger dressing though! Onion rings were fantastic! The spicy fries however were a HUGE disappointment. Even baked fries do not feel as limp and lifeless as Burgeusa’s fries. Spicy? Hmmm yeah, more like just powder and salt. I am guessing they just sprinkle chili powder and salt. Ok, I think I am going to five guys!

Burgers — juicy and delicious, Mexico style, with a crunchy level, fresh avocado, etc. Atmosphere — clean, divey(which is a plus to me) — music a little too loud Freebies — wifi, mini donut with your shake Service — cranky guy taking orders :(but I won’t hold it against them, everyone has a bad day some times. Bottom line — damn good burgers!!!

I ordered the La Monumental, and needless to say it was the furthest thing from monumental. The service was sub-par, and the burger and«spicy» fries(aka fries with paprika) took over 12 minutes to come out; which I didn’t think was too long until I saw that it looked less appetizing than fast food. Needless to say I will never be eating here again and will tell my friends to avoid this place. There are far better burger joints just around the corner.

Another burger joint? Yes, but that doesn’t bother me as burgers make up a good 53% of my weekly food intake. This is a new place down on the ever blooming square in Denton TX. I’d say it has a great location around a few bars and other small resturants. The place was clean and well kept, but then again it’s brand new. There was absolutely no one there, but the staff was friendly and fast, however when the four of us got our food it was cold. I still can’t figure out how they had three staff members to our four people and the food still came out cold!!! Not to menton that, but it just wasn’t good at all. Out of the four of us three hated it and one said it was ok. I’m all about giving second chances on a two star review, but i dont’ think this will be one i go back to for awhile :(
