Love love love. The food is always flavorful and fresh. Now, fresh, as in they made it that day or maybe the day before. It is always delicious. They have run out of Naan before, but otherwise, we have always been satisfied. The buffet allows my husband to eat as much as he wants, and give me the option to have more of the salad and less of the rice with my dinner. The owners are always there and I always end up talking with them the whole time. The last time we visited, the husband, wife, and not sure who the other guy was, but I assume a brother or cousin, they all played with my toddler son and my husband and I were able to finish our meals without a total melt down. We are satisfied every single time we come. It makes me sad that several people have given bad reviews. This is by far the best Indian Food I’ve ever had, and I love the relaxed, at home atmosphere.

Have loved this place for years. Moved away from Denton, but sometimes still drive hours to eat here. Anyone that disliked this place on Unilocal either dislikes Indian food or doesn’t know what it is.

I usually don’t have time to go out of my way to write reviews but it would be a disservice to all future customers if I didn’t on this place. I found this location through Unilocal reviews and rate this place a 0. I cannot comprehend how this place even passed inspection. I question whether most of the reviews on Unilocal are fake or paid because this was the worst Indian restaurant I have ever come across. For someone who is South Asian and used to eating at «hole in the wall» Indian restaurants, this place is a bad representation of what Indian food is. This restaurant was in a gas station which was not even the issue. I wasn’t expecting much because I know Denton is a college town and there aren’t very many Indian places in the area, but I had no idea how bad it was going to be. I was greeted by a nice gentleman and was told I could choose the buffet for $ 8.99. Since I noticed the plates were dirty, I decided to use a paper plate but when I sat down to eat, I realized the food was completely cold. The buffet was cold, low on all selections, empty for some, and the tandoori chicken was dry, hard, and flavorless. I had to ask for a refill of naan bread because there was barely any food in the buffet to even sample. When I went to get a drink, I noticed the ice machine was broken and was surprised to see all the sodas were running clear. They did not refill any of the syrups. So then I asked if they had mango lassi which was on the menu but this was also out. There wasn’t enough food for me to even«buffet» a second round. I felt duped and embarrassed that I brought a guest here. Our stomachs soon after felt sick and we are pretty sure it had to do with the temperature of the foods. I would never recommend anyone to come here and the Unilocal reviews and ratings could not be more misleading. I wrote this review because all future customers looking for an Indian place to try needs to stay away.

This is the second time I’ve tried an Indian restaurant and let’s just say that Rasoi’s was an interesting experience. The place itself is a converted gas station which is really cool although parking may be difficult to find sometimes. The food was interesting… And by that I mean that it was not as flavorful as I would have liked. The lunch buffet selection itself was very Small and most of the food was bland and cold. The naan was overcooked and most of the curry looked very oily. I feel like for the price(~$ 8 – 9 a person) the quality could have been better. If you’re looking for flavorful Indian food, try Bawarchi across the street. It’s more expensive but I think it’s worth the money.

I would give this 0 stars if possible. This restaurant tried to kill my wife and the owner didn’t even ask if she was ok. So we’re dining at this place, its a buffet. I get my first plate of food and I sit down. Keep in mind its very dark in here, probably on purpose to hide the filth in this place. After I sit down I can see the owner playing with a ceiling tile over the buffet line. He’s pushing some sort of A/C ducting back into the ceiling. A few minutes later my wife goes back for a second plate. The air ducting or part of the A/C system falls out of the ceiling and bounces off the buffet serving counter, narrowly missing my her head. It fell where she was standing literally 2 seconds earlier. This was no small piece either if it had hit her she would have suffered serious head trauma. Rather than asking her if she was ok he hurriedly picked up the pieces and took them to the back. So my wife gets her food after her near death experience and sits back down. Then I see the owner cutting a new ceiling tile to replace the one that was water damaged and broke when part of the ventilation system fell out of the ceiling. So he’s cutting a fiberglass ceiling tile over the buffet line, and man handling it in place. Ceiling insulation is falling all over the place along with god knows what else from that mold infested ceiling. When he’s satisfied with his half assed repair he gets a spoon and scoops the insulation chunks out of the food! That’s right, he does maintenance over the buffet line and instead of throwing the whole batch out he just scoops out the insulation and leaves the trays. F’ing GROSS! This place is disgusting, there is murky water on the floor. The bathroom smells of raw sewage and no one there speaks proper english. I know this is an Indian food restaurant but someone needs to tell them they’re in America now and we have health standards here. We don’t shit where we eat. The owner does maintenance work over the buffet line and parts of the ceiling could come crashing down on your skull at any moment. If I wasn’t a more honest man I would have sued them. Save your money and go somewhere else unless you want head trauma, a possible slip and fall or any number of bacterial or fungal diseases. I can’t believe the health department hasn’t shut this place down, its down right disgusting.

Went there to get ~$ 16 food with friend, ended up having $ 1600 bill from Mercy hospital emergency room. Food here was incredibly insanitary. Check out their bathroom please, there was sewage water running on the floor. They cut corner on food hygienes, please watch out for your life and health.

Delicious indian buffet! Very pleased with the food. 8.99 per person. Visiting from another area and wanted something inexpensive but savory. This was well worth it! I’d come again if I’m ever in the area.

My commitment for Rasoi partially is due to the delicious home-style Indian cooking, and partially due to the friendship that Brij and Arvand have shown me over the past 7 years. They are wonderful people with open arms. I love this little grimy gas station Indian place b/c it’s in my neighborhood and is simply good. I recommend regular chicken curry with rice and a side of veggies and salad with yogurt & chutney. Wednesday is chicken spinach curry & my personal fave. I recommend going at lunch instead of dinner as the food is made in the morning and sits under the heat lamps. Rice pudding and chai tea must be requested but are usually complimentary. This place is home for me.

Amused that this place was a Gas Station at one time. Still fairly new to Denton this restaurant was recommended to us by an Indian friend of ours in Ft Worth. Loved being wrapped in the amazing smells as soon at you walked in. Shop was cluttered, but pretty clean for an old un-converted convenience shop with tables in it. The Menu was a bit of confusion because there is not one! Food changes day to day so there’s no way to know in advance what your getting, luckily my husband and I love an adventure so– this unconventional way of doing things totally works for us. The owner/server was very friendly and explained each dish. You can choose what you want and how much. This also works great since I am a veggie lover and himself is a die-hard carnivore. We both agreed, the experience felt like we were in someone’s home and the owner was our host. The food was very well prepared and better than a number of places I’ve been to in the DFW area. The meal tasted like I was eating something prepared by someone’s mother in their home and not a restaurant. If your looking for a standard restaurant feeling, this is not your place! If your looking for tasty, satisfying, well prepared, reasonable priced food in decent portions in a very laid back and unique«hole in the wall» with a welcoming attentive host. This is your place.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we laughed because it is in a converted gas station. I am so glad we took a chance. The food — the meat and veggie curry options, samosa, and mango laasi — was delicious; we got a lot of food for a great price. The owners were very friendly. I will definitely be going back next time I am in town.

My wife and I love Indian food. I commute from Dallas to Denton for school, and one day when she was with me, we checked this place out. This place is a little odd, because not only is it in a converted gas station, it still has the feel of a convenience store in the front, near the door. There’s no buffet, but you can look at the selection and it is served for you as you order. But most importantly… This place is amazing! It’s so underrated, and not rightfully so. Their dal, naan, and masala sauce is some of the best we’ve had. Now my wife makes the trek with me a little more often.

Great vegan and vegetarian options here! When we’re tired of paying a lot of money for Indian food, we go here to get our fix. They are great about offering 3 or 4 vegan options every day, and always have a great cabbage salad, onion mix, and chutneys. If you’re not gluten intolerant, the samosas and naan always look yummy. The food can be a little salty, but they give you a sufficient amount of rice to balance it — it’s a great amount of food for what you pay.

DARNIT, DENTON. STOPBAITINGMEINTOBADRESTAURANTSWITHYOUROVERHYPEDREVIEWS. Keep the money in your wallet, and just drive on by this restaurant/gas station. DON’T STOPHERE. Either Dentonites haven’t ventured out of Denton in search of DECENT tasting food, or they definitely need to get their tastebuds checked. After reading the reviews on Unilocal, this seemed like the best option for an Indian restaurant in Denton. I was SO excited because I have been craving samosas like no other. The other restaurants around the area had not so great reviews. It’s located in what once used to be a gas station. The owner was VERY friendly, but alas… the cooking… I took my friend here for his FIRST try at Indian food. He got the day’s special — Spinach Chicken. I tried it. Was not a fan. He tried it. HENOWDISLIKESINDIANFOOD from his experience at Rasoi and literally runs away from me when I asked him if he wanted to try out another reputable Indian restaurant. He couldn’t even bring himself to finish his dish, even though he usually finishes every bite for fear of wasting food… Thanks a lot, Rasoi. I thought maybe Spinach Chicken was just an off dish. Maybe their samosas would be heavenly, so I got an order of samosas to-go. Boy, did I just commit the biggest mistake of my life. Once I got into the car, I peeled the box open and took a bite out of the samosas. WTF, THEYAIN’T CRUNCHY. Hellooooooooo NORMALSAMOSASARESUPPOSEDTOBECRUNCHYWITHDELICIOUSFILLINGSINSIDE. Their samosas should have just been potatoes in soft pita bread. It is literally what it is. I have tried out SOOOO many Indian restaurants and the samosas were NEVERTHISBAD. And just in case if you think it might have been an off-samosas that I have eaten… I TRIEDALL15THAT I HAVEORDERED. Yes, I foolishly ordered FIFTEENDARNSAMOSAS, for every one of them to be inedible because it was SO soft, NOT crunchy, and basically eating potatoes in soft bread. WTF. I’m beyond DONE with trusting Unilocal reviews of Denton restaurants. The only decent locations here are Jasmine’s and Love Shack, back when it was opened. Sorry, but if you think Rasoi is good, you need to go out of Denton in search of some legit Indian cuisine. Rasoi is NOWHERE close to good.

I was excited to go to an Indian buffet that was not in Houston for a change. I heard such good things about this place… but then I was disappointed. It was $ 10(making it more expensive then most other Indian buffets I’ve been to) the service was poor(as in the plates just stacked up and I had to flag someone down to get more water), the tandoori chicken was rather dry, and the buffet selection was small. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.

Sketchy gas station with awesome food and culture. The people who own this place also run it and it’s nice to have such good customer service. They allowed me to try every dish before I ordered and then I ended up getting a plate with a little but off everything haha. Dishes change every day and it is authentic. Support your local business and go here it is amazing!

I had the veggie dish with Chana Masala, yogurt, chutney, cabbage salad, and spicy onions. The fiancé and I had the same thing, except she got a samosa, and it only came to $ 15. The food was great, and I know Indian food. Don’t let the fact that its in a converted gas station stop you from eating here. This place is gonna be a staple as long as I’m here.

I guess in honor of my cousin Mitchell’s trip to India, I decided to give Indian food another try. I was over by UNT looking for Korean food believe it or not and saw Rasoi. I’ve seen reviews on here and figured why not. Good Indian food in an old gas station. Anything is possible. I am a novice when it comes to Indian cuisine. I know what Tikka Masala is, samosa and naan. That’s it. So when I enter the place, I am already lost, but the smells are inviting. The man behind the counter proves to be a great help. He offers samples of the food after describing each dish. Yes, it was all good and I was glad I saw this place. They have a daily menu with items like Chicken Curry, lentils and mixed veggies with potatoes, carrots and peas. They also have daily specials that rotate constantly. I went with one of these specials. Spinach Chicken. There is a word to describe Indian food and that is aromatic. It encompasses what this food is. The spices, the aroma, the flavors in your mouth. This food was good. Granted, I don’t have much to compare it to. Years ago I had been to an Indian place in Addison, it’s still there under a different name but the food has no memory to me. It was forgettable. Rasoi won’t be forgotten soon. As for my plate of food. Nothing was overly spicy but the combinations of sweet, vinegar, salty, sour all worked together. The mildness of the garlic naan dipped into the chicken and veggies sauces was not overpowering. The slaw salad had vinegar and cilantro notes and the yogurt sauce was creamy and the green sauce also added to the food. Nothing took over the dish and it was well balanced. Just be warned, they give you ALOT of food. You will not leave hungry. As with all places here in Denton, please support it. Denton has been my home for over two and a half years and with all of the new places popping up, good food like Rasoi can get lost in the mix. Support the new places but keep the others thriving. Enjoy.
