Fantastic food. Seating is a bit limited so you might have to get it to go if it’s really busy. Staff is very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Open 24-hours on Friday and Saturday. I’ll be back often.

Delicious tortillas. Meats are available by the pound for carry out. Prices are reasonable. Everything else has pretty much been said, I just want to say that I wish I could carry this place back with me to Tennessee.

The food is phenomenal! Authentic Mexican. They have quite a variety of meats(goat, beef tongue and more). One of my all time favorite restaurants. I hope they stay in business forever. You might want to brush up on your Spanish before visiting.(Just for fun! They list their meats in Spanish but the staff is happy to translate to English) Atmosphere is very casual and the dining area is small. I usually get my food to go.

So I wrote a review over a year ago and decided to go back on my own. I’m cool with second chances. I am now just simply amazed how this place gets a few splattering of positive reviews. I tried the menudo again and a few different tacos. All failed. It must be that they have a great sales of their machine made corn tortillas or that their building is painted a bright yellow. If you are in Denton and want Mexican food try Estrella.

Best authentic Mexican food in town that is also extremely affordable. We go here quite often for just simple fajita tacos with extra lime, and they have never disappointed. If I could give this place 6 stars I would.

Okay so I’m a super Mexican and love authentic Mexican food. This is the place to go for gorditas, enchiladas, Tortas, chorizo, tacos de chicharrón etc. Although I had the Milanesa and it was too chewy for me but by far everything else was authentic. They have fresh corn tortillas and flour tortillas I bought a pack to go It’s not a fancy restaurant. Definitely a hole in the wall. And limited seating. We luckily found an open booth for my family of six and put a chair at the end. You just walk in and seat your self. And order in the next room nobody waits on you. We did dine there and I didn’t mind it. They have Mexican Coke, Jarritos and fresh juice I had pineapple it was Very good.

Well, where to start? Overlooking the less than benign facility, the food was mediocre at best. The rice and beans both lacked adequate spice to give any solid flavor and were both less than authentic. The beef fajitas had basically no flavor and the service was terrible. I was silently ridiculed and given ugly looks for having to ask for a correction on my order, TWICE. Best part of my dining experience? The tostada chips. Overall, my experience was equivalent to that of a microwave TV dinner. Would not recommend.

This is a great place to go if you want some authentic tacos. Fair warning, the place does not look that great, but I can assure you the food is great. I always get the 5 tacos on a flour tortilla. I usually choose the fajita meat, although I have tried the lamb and it was not bad! I would give it 5 stars but I had to drop one for the customer service. We have had a couple of bad experiences, the worst being we were told we could not sit and eat around 8pm because the place was closing soon… they close at 9pm, and after we were told that a few more people sat down to eat without being told anything. The girl who works there that told us this is always in a bad mood, so be on the watch!

Authenic mexican food, open super late, parking was easy, but if it gets busy, you will be able to tell by how many cars are in the parking lot. Knowing that, there are only like 10 tables to sit at, so if its busy, get it to go, you won’t be disappointed. And if you do stay to eat, it is kinda divey but clean.

Really great and authentic Mexican food! The staff was nice and friendly and helped us go over the menu. They have a lot options, and pretty much any type of Mexican food you can think of, including lots of torta options. We ordered veggie tacos, a veggie sope, and a veggie gordita. It came with a basket a homemade chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were great! The chips were thick and perfectly cooked. They sell bags of their chips and I will buy some someday. The salsa is spicy and served warm, which I love. So good! The rest of the food was really good, tasted fresh and homeade. It came with a green sauce and another red sauce, but they were not real flavorful. The restaurant itself is pretty small. You order and then find a table instead of having a waiter. To be honest, it’s not super clean so be ready for that. It has the feel of an old authentic restaurant. Food is really good though. Will definitely go again.

I work around the corner so I eat here at least once a week. Pros: Excellent Food I have tried the beef fajita tacos or plate no beans, rice or onions, cilantro, whole avocado, Mexican coke, chips, and warmed salsa, pork tamales, and grilled onions. I tend to try something love it and stick to it. I have brought many co-workers and they have loved everything that they have tried. Cons: Service could be faster and nicer, they could work on consistency with flavor sometimes things are just right(flavorful/spicy) and sometimes meh(but waaayyyy better than Taco Bell), and seating and table clean up is a meh.

This is a good small, homey, local place to get your Tex-Mex fixes. It’s pretty authentic, even more on the Mex than Tex side. The prices are affordable and the food is good. Can’t beat seeing tortillas made rest in front of your eyes. It doesn’t try to be a fancy place, just a good place for the local working people to eat. Give it a try!

I will definitely go back. The tongue and barbacoa were a little dry but it’s hard to keep anything steaming hot off-hours. The portions were on the small side. Rice and beans were tasty — always a good sign. I asked for ‘a little avocado’ and got half a softball-size avocado for no charge. The green hot sauce was seriously hot. 24 hour places with vinyl seats and ramshackle booths are always a good sign. I went mid-morning on a weekday and I think that’s why the food was so-so. I’m going to try again on a busy Saturday or Sunday morning and see how they do.

If you’re ever in Denton searching for authentic Mexican food and you’re on a budget BUT you don’t want to sacrifice good quality… THENCOMEHERE! First off the parking is not the greatest i’ll be honest. Once inside there isn’t ample seating, i would say maybe 9 tables at the max, hence the reason most people take it to go. Secondly, my food review, I had the Quesadilla combo platter that comes with rice and beans, and lettuce and tomato all for $ 6.50!!! There is a variety of different types of meat you can choose, I went with my favorite«Borrego» or lamb. Ahhhh we live in a world where are common taquerias don’t carry lamb these days, so for this place to have lamb it became my special spot. The lamb tasted so good, i gave it a pinch more of salt, and it was simply delicious. The quesadilla as a whole was big and filling for a guy like myself who eats a lot. Rice and beans were very good, and it tasted like home. Everything on this menu is reasonably priced. I would recommend ordering the combo platters, like the number 1 or number 2… ordering up there and saying you want tacos and then you want something like a quesadilla… make a bit more expensive. So stick with the menu to get the most out of your money. Ultimately, Its hard to find places these days that will sell delicious food that will keep you full for under $ 7. Forget Chipotle and they’re stingy chicken 1 scoops and come here and eat!

delicious cheap food! Me and my boyfriend had lengua tacos, fajita tacos, quesadillas, and nachos.(don’t judge us) everything was so good and they give big portions of everything. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I’m thinking about getting some tonight!

I’ll keep this as succinct as possible. If you crave that greasy barbacoa, equally greasy chips, kinda soupy salsa, super generous portion-giving kind of Mexican food place where you know it’s not only made by people who grew up on that but are probably using some of those very same recipes in your dish like me then this is the place for you. Décor is dreadful from an I-give-a-crap-about-that standpoint. Not the cleanest place but you can tell they at least try. Pretty small dining area. But none of that is important unless you’re the worst kind of person; just go when they aren’t busy and order the nachos. For the love of god, order the nachos. They’re life-affirming and if you get them dine-in they give you like 45% more than the take-out portion and it makes me want to cry just thinking about them. They wised up and upped the price from 6 to 7 dollars because such a massive amount of food for so little is simply unsustainable. This restaurant is everything you could possibly hope it to be where it really matters.

24 hour taqueria!!! *mind blown* A true hole in the wall Mexican spot! We had the chicken quesadilla, chicken tacos, al pastor tacos– all so amazing! Only regret was that it was a bit unclean, but who cares when the food tastes so good!

This place has two great vegan options: amazing nopales tacos(when they’re not out of them), and really yummy avocado tacos on request. The guacamole is great too when they have it. Love the salsas(spicy)! All the menus are in Spanish(or at least used to be) and the seating is very limited. Just noticed someone’s picture of a veggie gordita and veggie sope, but I don’t think those are gluten-free. They look yummy!
