Best chili cheese dog. Nicest little old lady that works there. Family owned for many years, so they care about their customers.

Thursday November 5,2015 Had lunch today. Really good food prepared by two of the nicest lady’s one can have. I wished they wore name tags so I can address them with other than mamm. — I can’t spell that word, need a lifeline! I’ll be back. Signed, Randy

I used to go to this place in high school for lunch(in the late 80’s) and recently returned with my kids. I felt like time stood still. The owner even remembered my best friend’s sister who used to work there. Even better, the food tasted the same. The Chili Cheese dog is still the best in town. Although I now live in Marin I still will make the trip out to the East Bay and Sam’s when I need some home town cooking. My kids also ordered the shake for the first time and they do it the right way. Real ice cream and real milk shake maker. They also leave you enough for another cup. Hope this place never changes.

I love this place! When I lived close by or even when I’m visiting the area, this is a favorite place I love to eat. ;)

Weird so many like this place… Kinda unclean with just OK, somewhat pricey food… Not so pleasant service. The toppings on our dogs seemed like they were prepared by someone who just didn’t care. The one time we went here was enough to last us for a long time.

Boyfriend and I came here and got a hot dog with everything on it. It was pretty good. May seem a little pricey for a hot dog but worth it to keep the locals in business and still cheap overall. The dog is pure with a little snap to it. I personally would prefer a «beefier» dog with maybe a little more spice to it and more of a snap but it’s still better than wiener schnitzel and other chains. I’m a pretty big hot dog lover but generally when I think of gettin’ a dog chili doesn’t come to mind… just not my personal preference. However I did feel obligated to try their chili cheese dog since it seems to be what they’re popular for. Their chili cheese dog was delicious! This is probably why they don’t have a dog with more snap, the ones they serve are perfect for a chili cheese dog. It wasn’t too saucy and while it’s inevitable that it’s going to be a mess it still held together fairly well! Got mustard, chopped onions and tomato for added acidity, great combination. I may not be completely converted but I would get another chili cheese dog here again: D Regular dogs aren’t that filling but still a decent portion. You may want to get two if you’re really hungry. The chili cheese dogs are very generous with the amount of food and will most likely leave you stuffed. Haven’t had them but their shakes look good too! They have banana and pineapple available ^ ^ Maybe im being a little generous with the four stars but the ladies that work here are very sweet and I appreciate a nice local dive spot. It’s not worth a drive but nice spot for a hot dog if in the area!

I was craving a hot dog… So I decided to give this place a try. There is nothing glamorous about a hotdog. Theirs are good,; your run of the mill hotdogs. I ordered the Kraut Dog with everything on it. Everything includes, sliced tomato and onion, mustard and relish. I’d go back if the craving hit again.

We never got to try the food because we walked out after watching the lady help a few customers before us. She made everything with bare hands and handled money, used the register, grabbed a dropped coin from the floor, using the handle on the milk shake machine, a couple of credit catds… you name it. We kept waiting to see her wash her hands for the next customer or use gloves and she never did. That was disgusting and We walked out. The food might be good but I wouldn’t try it.

The way a hot dog shop is supposed to be. All the staff is amazingly friendly, food is consistently good. Prices are reasonable. Oh — don’t miss the milkshakes!

When I was a child I would ask my grandpa to take me here all the time. I now live in Sacramento, and I still travel down to the bay to eat here. I am craving a cheese dog right now.

Good hot dog, spicy hot link, excellent chocolate shake. Yes pricey, and the décor is no frills. The hot dog has a «snap», the hot link didn’t. I heard tell that the colossal dog is more tender than the hot dog. I like the«snap» though. Old fashioned American lunch. If you are a talker, there are people there who will tell you stories.

I had the chili cheese dog and it was delicious. The onion and other toppings was fresh. My son and husband also enjoyed their dogs. We will eat here again. I know the owner and he is a nice fellow.

Made the hour trip on a friends recommendation. Had the cheese dog… ok had the cheese dogssss. Very good stuff. If I’m not mistaken, they use Miller meats. And they make it taste real good. The lady that helped me was very friendly and easy to talk to. I’m hooked. Five out of Five Trans Fats…

Love this lil spot! Just happened in here last week on a craving for hot dogs. and sure glad we stopped in! My BF grew up in El Sob and has been a frequent flyer of «Sam’s Dog House» since the 90’s.upon my murmurs of hot dog yearnings. he highly recommended we cruise in and try a tasty dog at Sam’s. I ordered the Kraut dog. Oh So good! Hot, hot dog, Steamy warm bun, Kraut piled on and any other of the many fixins I wanted, including jalepenos and excluding ketchup. the gal working the line was solo that night and super friendly. The dog itself was a perfect size to satisfy any Hot Dog lover’s cravings. Def going back for the«cheese dog». This was the second best hot dog I have ever had.

Sam’s Dogs sell many pedigrees of dogs and turkey too. shakes are also in the mix. not much seating here. eats: regular dog(3.55) –miller’s dog about a foot long –seem pricey but this is a bigger dog. –lots of fresh tomatoes, onions etc on warm bun. –taste a bit jiucy, no snap. leftovers: –lady didn’t wear gloves while making dog., handled money right after.

3 stars, Why? I ordered a chili dog with onions, extra cheese, chips and a drink for less the 7 bucks. The advertising photos of the Chili dog on Unilocal was right on, however my food was luke warm and the cheese did not even melt on my dog! I was expecting my plate to be steamy, hot with a lingering aroma of chili spices. Instead I had a huge portion(not complaining) of mild warm chili, with no spices of «semi heat» and just sauce and beans. NOt impressed at all. I will come back to try their polish dog, i just want to see if there is a difference than the polish dogs at Costco!.. LOL !
