I was really craving a cannoli and decided to check this place out. Let me just say… I love this place! They have a variety of different fresh cold pasta and yummy juicy sandwiches! I ordered the meatball sandwich, hot Italian, hot link and cannolis! Meatball sandwich and Hot Italian sandwich: Both were really big and packed with meat! I love the seasoning on the meatballs and their Ciabatta bread is total yumminess! Hot link: I ordered my hot link with ketchup, mustard, onion and jalapenos and it was amazing! They piled on the condiments and the hot link had just enough spice to keep me wanting more. I will definitely order this again! Cannoli: Absolutely freakin amazing!!! I got the chocolate dipped pistachio, cream cannolis with chocolate chips and the cream cannoli with fruit. Overall I really like this place and will be back to try the pasta and gelato!

The caprese sandwich here is the beat I’ve ever had. It’s so good because the commitment to fresh, quality, authentic ingredients. Great little place to slip away from Elk Grove typically suburban vibe.

Thanks Armando kasha and I had the best Italian hot dogs today that you made. We both enjoy coming in when you’re at work.

Was not a fan of the cannoli. It tasted like it had been sitting there for a while — stale. The chocolate dipped parts on the outside weren’t that tasty and were hard enough to cut my mouth all up. Also, I know it was a simple mistake but she gave me the wrong flavored cannoli after asking me which one I wanted twice.

Hubby was in the mood for something sweet(always has a sweet tooth). So as we were out and about, I recalled this place from reading Unilocal reviews. So we headed toward Old Elk Grove. Found it on the little corner in a small shopping complex. The place is a small and quaint. They had one communal table and a couple of small pub height tables for customers to eat their items at. They had a deli case with some pastas, salads and deli meats. The customer in front of us had ordered some sandwiches which actually looked pretty good. We were there for the gelato they offered. They didn’t have a lot of selection but enough. The lady behind the counter was very friendly. She acknowledged us as we walked in and let us know she would be with us shortly. We ordered a small gelato of salted caramel. was so good. The small seemed more like a medium — it was packed high in the cup. Very creamy and not too sweet at all & just enough caramel flavor in the gelato. We will definitely be visiting again to fulfill hubby’s craving for gelato. Don’t have to travel too far.

I would give this place more stars because it has pretty good food and the guy that’s always here is awesome! He’s super friendly and makes sure you get exactly what you want! The owner has an attitude problem and is never welcoming. It’s a shame she owns this place.

Walked in and the guy yells at us, «HELLO, WE’REMOSTLYOUTOFNEARLYEVERYTHING, BUTNOTEVERYTHING!» We were 15 feet away with two customers in front of us. Turns out they were out of a couple breads, tomatoes, and prepared items in the refrigerated display. They’ve got hot pastrami. Great. Hubby orders the Italian sausage. They don’t sell Italian sausage anymore because it didn’t sell. But there’s no signage to say that, though Italian sausage is featured pretty often on their menu. He orders the hot dog. They put on half the stuff he wanted on it before they got ADD and decided it was complete, wrapped it up and rang it up along with my sandwich. There are gift bags of goods collecting dust on the shelves, some of them with busted cellophane. There are years old sausages hanging up that no one buys, I was told… I was a little worried. Then we sat outside and I had my sandwich and LOVED it. Not too salty, not too fatty, warm and juicy. I personally prefer a softer roll, but the bread was tasty. Pepperoncinis were good. I didn’t try hubby’s hot dog, but he seemed to REALLY enjoy it and he said he did. All-in-all, it’s good food.

I used to love going here but sadly they have changed so much that I stopped going. It was so convent for my family because we were in walking distance and loved to walk here and get a fresh sandwich for my husband and I would always get something from the deli and then maybe a dessert my kids always get gelato. But sadly after them changing the menu and taking things away and adding things that we do not care for and not caring a good selection any longer we have decided not to come anymore because it does not fit all of our family needs. This was a great place when it first opened. Sadly they changed…

Heading South from Sac on the 99 craving a good deli sani. Well Unilocal you didn’t do me wrong on this spot. I couldn’t have found a better spot! The meatball sandwich was to die for. And cold bottled beer to follow was perfect. The two employees there couldn’t have been any more helpful and welcoming! Very, very impressed all the way around. Those guys deserve a Raise! Will be back.

I really hate when I love a place and the owner changes it completely! Sadly this happen here. Previous review details all the tasty foodie treats that could be purchased in the deli/shop, when I arrived today I saw majority of the items I liked were gone. Where’s the salami? Cured meats? Stuffed Zucchini? Wall to wall treats??? Gone!!! Now this is just a deli with a few already boxed up side salads, sandwiches and now hot dogs??? Ugh! I decided on the hot pastrami… mistake! When they began making it I saw the piece of baguette they were going to use and stopped them immediately. It was a sad pitiful piece of bread; small, under 5 inches, and pale in color. So I requested the hard roll, a bit bigger but still small enough that they didn’t even slice sandwich in half. So how’s it taste? Bleh! Meat had no flavor, cheese wasn’t even melted and all the toppings were on the outside. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I don’t know when Elk Grove decided it was ok to sell $ 10 sandwiches worth only $ 5?! I give up. Mr Pickles(now Sandwich Spot) I’ll never cheat again!

This is a deli like no other in Elk Grove. Great sandwiches and the best darn Hot Dogs around! The make all of their dishes in house like Lasagna, Fresh pastas, Raviolis and sweets like Cannolis, Baklava and make a great HUGE sandwich. They also make a Mufaletta that is the best I have ever had! Dont mess with the rest, just come and eat the best!

After returning from a trip to Italy, I was craving some prosciutto with melon, tiramisu, limoncello, and gelato. I pass by this place every day and, due to my timely cravings, finally made a visit here this past weekend. With its cute location and stellar reviews, I was excited for my visit to subdue these cravings. Sadly, this place was an utter disappointment. To sum up the disappointing factors… the prosciutto with melon could only be ordered as a large catering order. While I AM craving it(and my crave game is strong), I don’t think I am underestimating myself when I say I probably can’t finish it. They also no longer offer tiramisu or limoncello. I don’t know when they stopped carrying these items, but these items are still on both their online and in-store menu(don’t hold this comment accountable if they finally decide to remove these items from the menu after this review). They did, however, have gelato. Their gelato menu changes daily, so it’s a hit or miss. There are six selections and when I went, none really stood out to me. If my memory serves me right, they had chocolate, vanilla, coconut, pumpkin, pineapple, and one other that I’m forgetting. Anyway, after trying the pumpkin, pineapple, and coconut, I wasn’t too impressed. I ended up getting the coconut gelato anyway since I didn’t want to leave empty handed. Then I glanced over and saw their wine selection. I thought they would have a fine selection of Chianti or something, but was disappointed yet again at their small selection of basic mass produced wines that I could find at my local Bel Air. On their list of wine prices(which was taped next to the wine shelf), I saw that their Cabernet Sauvignon was only $ 11, so decided to get a bottle. When the waitress rung me up, it came out to be $ 21.99! I immediately halted the transaction and brought to her attention that the price on the menu was $ 11. She merely shrugged and said it must be printed wrong on the menu. Needless to say, I left the bottle there and concluded my visit. I did not try any of their sandwiches or prepared foods, but it is highly unlikely that I will be returning to get or try anything from here. UPDATE(10÷7÷15) After posting this review, the owner of the store, Franco, personally messaged me to apologize for the experience and explain the miscommunication from my visit. Apparently, they had two Cabernet Sauvignons on the shelf, but only one was listed on the wine list. Again, a discrepancy in the menus. However, I believe it speaks volumes and vouches for the business ethic of the store when the owner personally reads the reviews and makes the effort to ensure continuous improvement. This effort and work ethic is admirable — I take my last comment back and will definitely come back to try their other items! Review to be updated soon :)

Visited the deli for gelato because we had a coupon. I was reading their menu while I was eating the gelato. I decided to order a «loaded dog» with an Italian sausage. Took it to go… enjoyed it thoroughly! I will be returning to try other things from the menu.

Stormy and I came across this place by accident the other day. The food was no accident however. The place is sorta set up as a combination sandwich shop deli but there are many other items of prepared food too. You can get both Italian ingredients and fully prepared foods. The food was just wonderful and quite flavorful. Try it. You’ll be pleased

It’s very rare that I take the risk of not checking Unilocal before I try a place out but in this case, I felt like you couldn’t go wrong with gelato so I went in without checking Unilocal to see the reviews. When I go to Elk Grove, I take the back roads. Which means I cut through old town Elk Grove. One day we were driving past this place and I decided that I wanted to try their gelato. Did they disappoint? Hell naw! That salted caramel good good was perfection ! They make all their gelatos in house too :)

Oh my gosh! I’ve never been more content with a sandwich in my life! My sister and I got both the caprese and the turkey breast sandwiches(we couldn’t decide so we got both). The caprese was delicious we got it on a hard roll, it had prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, pesto, and balsamic vinaigrette… what else can you ask for? It became my favorite sandwich of all time!!! The girls are super nice too! The turkey breast was just as good but definitely a different sandwich. .the caprese was lighter and the turkey more hearty but DELICIOUS nonetheless. Got it on hard loaf too tomatoes lettuce red onion and some kind of sauce from the heavens!!! Don’t think about it. come eat here!!!

Truly a gem in Old Town Elk Grove! I was craving a sandwich one day at work and saw that a fellow Unilocaler had checked into Italian Delicatessen. I couldn’t figure out where this place was in my head so I just mapped it and headed over, surprised to find that it replaced the cute little boba house. I ordered a Caprese and Californian to split with a coworker and a side of mac salad for me togo. Warning, this is a walkin deli so there are no tables for you to sit unless you’re lucky enough to snag a spot on the tiny bench outdoors! While waiting for my sammies, I noticed the variety of meats, cheeses and desserts they had! I was excited for my next return already! As for my sandwiches, neither disappointed! The Caprese was my favorite of the two but both were delicious! Packed with fresh ingredients, just enough meat to veggie proportions and a fair amount of sauce. My coworker and I agreed we felt a little spoiled. As for my mac salad, I’ve had better. I’m not used to such dry mac salads and when they are dry, they’re usually more flavorful. I say I can’t wait to be back to try their other sammies but I have a feeling I’ll be ordering the Caprese again!

I’ve been here a few times now. It’s a cute small place. To me, it’s more like a made to order sandwich place to go. Lol. Yes, they have a couple small tables now, and bar like seating. Oooooh… and outdoors, too. We ate outside last time. Basically, there’s a chalkboard with a menu of different sandwiches they make. They also have different salad types they sell by the pound.(premade packaged salads, too.) They also have dessert! Gelato ice cream, too. They also sell wines, packages pasta, cookies, etc. Our favorite has been the meatball sandwich. Very tasty and moist. I tried the pastrami hot sandwich today. It was good, but not my favorite here. I guess I am spoiled by TOGOS pastrami. Their desserts are fantastic! Their employees have all been great. Very courteous, polite, and very helpful. The place was very clean and well organized. Oooooh! When you first walk in… don’t forget to get a number! Lol.
