Let me tell u this Taiwanese place is good! They have authentic long strung beef noodle soup and it was a big bowl. The chicken chop on rice was a huge platter that can feed two and the most important dish was the fried dumplings. It was very different than usual because their dumpling wrap is open ended which provides the best taste and keeping moisture flavored to your mouth! My go to dumpling place! This is a keeper.

The Taiwanese food is so good here. The porkchop rice is very filling and flavorful. Best of all the pork chop isn’t fried and is very tender. If you are feeling«soupy» the beef stew noodles is a great choice. The broth is so good that I can drink it all day. The beef is also very soft, tender, and juciy. For appetizer I’d say you should go for the beef scallion pancake. Another unique thing about this restaurant is that they sell frozen dumplings. By that I mean they actually make their own dumplings and sell them frozen for you to make at home. They are very juciy and definately better than the frozen ines you buy in the supermarket. It’s a very local restaurant but they are always delivering.

We went here for dinner after reading the reviews here. Nice, clean and brightly lit restaurant. Fast, friendly service. We ordered, bean curd with pork, oyster pancake, fried dumplings, pepper-salt chicken(like pop corn chicken), water-spinach sautéed(ong-choy), shredded meat roll(scallion pancake rolled up with stuffing). Everything was good. The dumplings had thin skins like in Taiwan according to my wife.

Came here because my father in law recommended it. The food in my opinion is just average. Nothing special. The prices are too high for the quality and the portions of food.

we were searching for a taiwanese place in flushing for dinner during the week and we came across this place that had good reviews. we were the pork chop over rice, chicken leg over rice, and pork with dry bean curd and CHINESE celery. we were really looking forward to try their food. when i called to make the order to go, i didn’t know how to say the pork with dry bean curd and CHINESE celery in chinese so i just said pork with bean curd and CHINESE celery in english. the lady did not speak english so she passed the phone to her husband. the husband had no idea what i wanted. i had to tell him that the item was under the pork section and it was the second to last item. when he found it, he tried to give me an attitude by saying it’s «dry» bean curd and but bean curd. there was only one dish under pork that had CHINESE celery!!! c’mom! you should know your own menu! when we got home, we opened all the orders and the pork chop over rice was not fried! it looked like it was just pan seared(see picture and you can be the judge). the chicken leg was pretty blend. if you notice, every time i wrote«chinese» for CHINESE celery i used capital letter. the reason for that is because i felt cheated!!! they gave me regular celery! its a huge difference in flavor! if you want to be cheap then dont say on the menu CHINESE celery! just say celery! you did not give me crispy pork chop and now you give me regular celery! i am definitely not coming back!

This Taiwanese restaurant is a hidden gem in Flushing that should not be missed by people who appreciate authentic Chinese cuisine. It evokes the great food that one can find of you travel to Taiwan. You can taste the care and intention in the preparation of the dishes in this restaurant. The food is never overly greasy or unnecessarily over-seasoned, and as in much of great Asian cuisine the chef allows the basic ingredients to make the statement to the best possible results. Have eaten here twice after becoming a fan of their frozen fish dumplings. The sauteed Chinese orecchiette noodles were stunning in their simplicity and great flavor. Vegetables wrapped in tofu skin was a fantastic dish with that aforementioned superb but subtle taste. The fried fish fillet with seaweed and the salt and pepper fried squid were impressive in that few restaurants know how to prepare deep-fried dishes that are non-greasy, tasty and very digestible. The luffa squash with dried shrimp was sweet and juicy. The sauteed A Choy was cooked perfectly, and there are few Chinese restaurants that prepare vegetables dishes so well. The spicy bamboo shoots cold appetizer was unfortunately bland, but nothing is perfect. Also, given that this is a Taiwanese restaurant it would be great to see some fermented tofu, chòu dòufu, dishes appear on the menu but this unfortunately does not seem likely. Importantly, the hospitality and service is very good. The restaurant posts a ‘specials’ board in Chinese, but our waiter was fully willing to translate it giving us a much fuller dining experience. I have read too many reviews on Unilocal and Chowhound that imply that inhospitably xenophobic service is a sign of an authentic Asian restaurant, and nothing can be further from the truth. The atmosphere in this relatively small restaurant is calm, clean and well lit making dining very pleasant. Also one thing that makes a great Chinese restaurant is the quality of the rice and the tea. Here the tea is unique and a great accent to excellent food. Prices are very reasonable.

Tiny Taiwanese restaurant that offers great beef noodle soup! A lot of people order in for take out, but I sat in. Their chicken leg over rice was on point — that sauce, man. That sauce! It soaked into the rice beneath the chicken leg. Don’t you just hate it when the rice is all dry and bland? The beef noodle soup provided just the right amount of kick. Didn’t really care for the pork and corn dumplings, but will probably come back to try the other ones. SO many dumplings, so little time.

Super authentic Taiwanese food. Followed the owner since he was situated on Roosevelt Avenue. He makes the best dumplings and sells them frozen too. The beef roll wraps were done crispy, not soggy. I loved their beef noodle soup. The soup was well-seasoned with generous portions of meat. If you are looking for hole-in-the-wall good food. This is the place to go.

I ordered take out from here via and was pleasantly surprised. This place serves standard Taiwanese fare along with an large assortment of dumplings. The beef noodle soup was flavorful and the pork chop was decent. The minced pork rice and 3 cup chicken were above average. Dumplings here were by far the star. They’re homemade and the skin is perfectly done, not too thick and not too thin. This is a good place in the area if you’re craving Taiwanese food.

Not too shabby! Ordered the pepper steak over rice and it was pretty tasty. At first I ordered this dish hoping to get«peppered steak» but received steak with sliced bell peppers which is unfortunate but still very tasty. The choice of wording for the dish could use some work so people wouldn’t get confused. They serve a lot of tasty traditional taiwanese food here including taiwanese pork chops which is the bomb. The actually restaurant isn’t too big, however you can still bring your family here and enjoy a nice lunch/dinner. The service here is pretty fast but the servers are pretty sassy. They give you the stink eye when you don’t know what to order and they try to rush you in order to save time. All in all, the food is very respectable and I recommend you give this place a try!

Best Taiwanese-Style Beef Noodles in Flushing! I love how they cook their noodles. Just the right amount of QQ(elasticity/bounce/al dente, I don’t know, it sounds stupid translating it to English…). Good mix of beef shank and tendon in a mildy spicy soup. Yum! We also buy bags of their seafood/corn dumplings to bring home. When they first opened, they kept running out of beef noodles. They’d open at 11am and would be sold out by 11:30am. Wtf! They’ve since solved their production/supply issues. Life is good. :-)

We were here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The place were somewhat busy when were there but we didn’t have to wait for a table. The staff were polite. We got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup & the long hot pepper beef noodle soup. They were absolutely delicious especially the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, the broth were full of flavor! The long hot pepper beef noodle soup were also great but wish it was more spicy. All total, we spent about $ 15. Good portion, we were definitely satisfied. If you’re looking for some good Taiwanese food, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Pioneer Cuisine has been on my list of places to try for a few months now. I wanted a place where I can get some Taiwanese rice dishes(pork chop/chicken over rice with the boiled egg, preserved veggies, ground pork mix) that wasn’t in downtown Flushing. Plus the pictures would have me drooling. So although I have not been to the restaurant, I’ve had take-out several times here. Even after maybe 30 mins of traveling, the food was really really good. Chicken is nice and moist, I love the pork mix and the preserved veggies. Can’t really go wrong and it could probably last for 2 meals.

I really wanted to like this place, given that I love Taiwanese food, this place is relatively close to my house, and you can actually find parking in this part of flushing. Maybe I’m just ordering the wrong food, but I really don’t understand the 4.5 star rating. We ordered a chicken leg and thigh over rice, pork chop over rice, and the beef noodle stew. We barely touched our food because both the chicken and the pork chop were EXTREMELY dry and had the least bit of flavor to them. I think I’ve had better chicken and pork chop at americanized chinese take out restaurants. In the end, I ate portions of my rice because at least that was flavorful. The broth to the beef noodle soup was interesting, and probably the better dish out of the three. I guess it’s time to go back to Flushing/Chinatown to get my Taiwanese fix. The staff were really nice people, but that’s all the positive I can say about this place unfortunately.

My friends and I were craving for some Taiwanese food but didn’t want to travel too far so upon Unilocaling for places to eat at. We finally gave this spot a try and also the fact that one of my friends has suggested to come here for almost a month. Although it’s a small restaurant with 12 seating at most, they sure know how to take care of their clients. I really enjoyed their great service and food. Some of my favorites are the Beef Noodle Soup, Vegetarian chicken, and rice cakes with beef and veggies. I wasn’t a big fan of their dumplings though. It tasted good but I still prefer white bear’s.

Came tonight on Christmas Eve at around 9ish and there were still a number of tables eating, the 10 of us ordered different things but we found some more winners from this restaurant. Yang Chow fried rice– I’m surprise how flavorful this is, they actually flavor the rice OMG… that’s unheard of! and on top of that they give you real shrimp! This is probably one of the most flavorful fried rice I have had for a long time! definitely give it a try!!! Beef Noodle soup– I can’t believe I missed this one the last time I came but wow, this is real beef and real noodle! The place don’t skip out on the beef, I probably got a good 5 – 6 pieces of beef in my bowl and the beef tendon were so soft, the noodle was perfectly cooked, the soup was spicy but added tons of flavor into the noodle. Topped off with some pickled veggie and you got yourself a winner… Im just surprise it took me this long to discover this. The best part of the night was when the owner came over to us and asked us how old we were. We said we are all over 21 and he said in that case, it’s Christmas Eve, let’s open some red wine and celebrate. He originally wanted to give us two free bottles but we were like a lot of us have to drive, so just one bottle. So he went inside the kitchen and got a bottle of Merlot and glasses. He poured the wine for us and then we all stood up and gave him a toast! It was a great time and so much fun! He even joke around with our younger looking friend Sam and asked him for ID haha.(but yes he’s 22) We had an amazing time at Pioneer Cuisine tonight, I’m a firm believer in good food makes the restaurant but I’m a bigger believer in great service attracts returning customers and Pioneer Cuisine proved that to be the case. Thanks for assuring my belief, I will be back again!

A very interesting name for a Chinese Taiwanese restaurant. When I first drove past it and read the name, I envisioned stage coaches and horse drawn carriages as young American settlers migrated West to explore new lands and uncharted territories. I also remembered stereo equipment made by a company with the same name. The place doesn’t look like much, pretty mundane when you walk in, but the food is quite delicious and inexpensive with nice size portions The dumplings are the main attraction here and come in 10 pieces per order. I have had the pork and chives, pork and corn, and seafood, pork and cabbage dumplings, Listen, the dumplings are placed on a plain white dish and presentation wise, it’s horrible, but the flavors are really banging, the dumplings skins are not too doughy or thin, but just right, dip those bad boy’s in some chili oil and vinegar and forget about it! Delicious!!! The Taiwanese beef noodle soup was amazing, the broth was seasoned nicely and the pieces of meat were tender, I didn’t have to chew it like I was chewing gum. The shredded pork and mustard green noodles were just as good, but the beef noodle soup was my favorite. The Pork chop or chicken leg over rice was a real score! The pork chop and chicken leg itself was OK, but the rice they served with the chop or chicken was outstanding! small tiny cubes of pork belly with sauce mixed in the rice was heavenly! I would have been just fine eating the cubes of pork belly over rice. The cold appetizers are really, really spot on delicious! The vegetarian chicken, eggplant and Ox tongue and tripe with roasted chili peanut vinaigrette which was my favorite was awesome! The appetizers alone are worth the trip here. The place is small and seating could be a little cramped, but it’s worth the trip since the food is pretty good and the prices are fairly reasonable. The staff is very cordial and they speak Chinese and English so you shouldn’t have any problems ordering. Parking meters can be found in and around the area and side streets, but finding parking can be difficult since a hospital is literally across the street. It will depend on what time you go. The menu has a pretty decent selection so I’m looking forward to try new dishes. Definitely worth the trip, don’t wait, be a «Pioneer» and explore this place!!!

We were pleasantly surprised by this newly opened Taiwanese restaurant — conveniently located in a part of Flushing where it ISN’T impossible to find parking! — beef noodle soup(牛肉麵): This huge bowl was really what we were seeking on that chilly day. While it wasn’t the best version of the famous Taiwanese noodle soup I’ve ever had, it hit the spot. Noodles were very chewy and fresh — likely housemade. — fish dumplings(鮮魚水餃): Obviously handmade and incredibly light, though a bit bland beyond the celery flavor. We ordered these BECAUSE of the softer texture, but for those without any eating restrictions, go for one of their many other fresh dumplings that are more… toothsome. — bah-suh-bng /lu rou fan(滷肉飯): This classic, humble braised chopped pork belly over rice is a useful barometer for how good a Taiwanese restaurant is. We didn’t order this separately, but it was(as is typical) sprinkled over the rice in the pork chop entrée. And it was great — worth calling out by itself. I’d order a full portion next time. — pai gu fan(排骨飯): The aforementioned pork chop over rice. Very freshly fried with sweet potato starch. I could’ve used more five spice, but they did the general flavor and homeyness of this popular Taiwanese bento dish well. — xiao jiao niu(小椒牛): sliced beef and chili pepper. We got this over rice, though you could also order a larger portion as a family-style entrée. It was very good — often you can tell in Chinese cuisine whether things have been cooked at the right temperature — but not spicy at all! At least as of a week ago, the restaurant’s exterior looks(forgive me) janky — with no awning, and only a plastic canvas attached to the building façade. The sign says 我家食坊(roughly, «My Sweet Home»), the name of their former dumpling shop in the back of downtown Flushing’s Maxin Bakery. On the other hand, the interior already resembles a clean, well-established restaurant — surprising for a place that had only been open a week at that point. At an awkward 3pm on a Saturday, the place was completely filled with enthusiastic eaters(Asian and not). The owners are 外省人(Chinese who immigrated to Taiwan following the Chinese Civil War); their teenage kids man the front desk. All in all, the food we tried was impressively fresh, even if none of it was particularly mindblowing or unusual. It’s great to have an additional option for homestyle Taiwanese food in a more neglected area of Flushing.

YES!!! They’ve reopened and have seats!!! I love their pork and cabbage dumplings especially when you dip them into that sweet soy sauce and the mildly spicy sauce. They have great appetizers but if you like eggplant(I do not), their sauce that’s on the eggplant is out of this world. Their sliced bean curd is pretty awesome too. Excellent al dente noodles for the beef noodle soup(a little salty for me but great flavor). And their chicken leg rice is also good. Sad that they sold out of the pork chop over rice(which just means it’s that delicious!) Went at 2PM and there was a small wait which means, yes, their food is just that good. Can’t wait to eat there again!
