GREAT ice cream selection right as you enter Fremont Lakes park. The chocolate shake was thick and tasty with real ice cream and all the orders(6 in total) looked good and everyone seemed to enjoy them. There is a bar and grill in here also along with coolers of soda, water and beer. Make sure you stop in if you are at the lakes.

Friendly customer service, bad food. I ordered buffalo wings and a coke. It cost me 11 bucks, no sides or anything. With that kind of price, you’d expect decent food. How do you mess up buffalo wings anyway? Just fry and toss in sauce. I don’t even care if it’s not a house sauce. The wings came out and they were cold. Room temperature cold. What? There is no way buffalo wings can be that cold, especially if they’ve just been fried. I asked them to heat it up and the lady was very nice. She took it away, no questions asked. They came out with my replacement and they were still cold. New set of wings, but cold. So I gave up. I came to the conclusion that they must not microwave their buffalo wings to order long enough. At least the coke and the view of the lake was good.

Not blown away by obviously pre-formed burger patties, but they are seasoned well and not too greasy. Presentation is inconsistent. One visit, you can get bun A, but the next visit you get bun B, C, or D. Maybe they’re experimenting with buns? Sometimes the toppings are on the burger itself, but sometimes the toppings have come on the side, too. I think they might be experimenting with fries, too, as we’ve had 3 different types of french fries(crinkle, steak, straight) on our visits. The burgers have funky names: Bacon Beacon, Jiffy-n-Jelly, Cheesy Peasy, and my personal favorite, the Guacaholy. The menu has obviously been updated a few times, as evidenced by the black Sharpie lines on the menus. I gotta admit; the guacaholy burger is pretty dang good! It’s topped with jack(?) cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The service has been pretty friendly. I was impressed that one of the servers remembered us after only one visit. That could mean one of two things: a) she pays attention to her customers, or b) they haven’t been terribly busy this summer. If you can get past the pre-formed patties and the experimental buns/fries, this place could be worth your time… oh, and it’s the only place to get food at the State Lakes. That might influence you a bit, too. :)
