Unique Hair & Nail

This hair salon is very dirty. Nobody cleans up the hair on the floor so it’s very slippery. The whole place smells like chemical although the door is wide open. The owner sits at the nail table and eats her lunch. I’m sure other people do the same thing.
I always go to Lisa since she is the only one that can cuts my hair right so I have been sucking it up.
Lisa is always triple/​quadruple booked so even with an appointment I have to wait at least 1 hour. Usually Lisa will have an assistant wash my hair and straighten it while she finishes with other clients.
Overall I come back here just for Lisa but I think Lisa needs to better managing her appointments. My friends used to go to Lisa but they all gave up because of the wait time. It’s really worst than waiting at the obgyn office lol. Lisa does a great job but when she has so many people waiting she will rush and your hair won’t turn out perfectly

Mindy did my retouch and haircut and it came out very nice. She is not only skilled and talented but also sweet and caring. She is differently a keeper!

First time here and I love it already. Mindy was super nice and very helpful with informing me about how I should treat my hair. Went in for a trim and came out very satisfied. She took her time and did not rush even though she had others waiting for her. Coming back for sure.

I love this place. I have been coming here for Lisa for a long time. Finally, remember to leave a review. Everyone is really nice. She is vey busy!!! So make sure to call and make an appointment.

When it comes to haircut, this is the salon, and Kelvin is the man. I would rate him 5 stars, I deducted a star simply because my hair itches after the wash, not sure if it is the towel, the shampoo, or not rinse thoroughly. Talking about craftmanship, I think Kelvin is the best in the area. After my haircut, everyone thought it was so cute.
Guess what, I took my mom to Kelvin, and she was so happy with the results.
Taking my sister there next. If she’ll like her haircut by Kelvin too, then it is ³⁄₃. Perfection!

Kevin was the only guy in the salon and he cut my cousin and my hair. Very solid hair cuts! But then again asian people are gonna know asian hair
Like any other Viet hair salon you’ll walk in hearing Vietnamese chitter chatter, a TV playing one of the the asian channels (most likely Vietnamese one with multitudes of ads or dramas), a small table of stacks of various magazines, and some chairs to sit on.
If you’re used to hair salons at White American places you’ll think the prices here are cheap, and if you’re used to Vietnamese hair/​nail salons since you were young you’ll think the prices either average or a couple few bucks more than the place you regular at. But I only cut my hair 1−2x a year so what do I know. Inflation happens.

I’ve only gotten Lisa for my haircuts so it might not reflect the salon as a whole.

Would I come back? Probably not.
I’ve been to Lisa for many years now and I’ve always gotten the same hair cut– layered hair, midback length. I think Lisa is very good at cutting that specific hairstyle. When you deviate from the classic V-​shape layered hair with swept bang look, she doesn’t stand out from other stylists. This is speaking from experience for my mom, who has really long, curly hair. She wants to change the style a bit and had a short cut from Lisa. It ended up being a pretty uneven bob that doesn’t compliment her face. My mom gave up on haircuts since and stick strictly to tying up her long hair.
As for me, I’ve always been pleased with my haircuts. The only thing I cannot stand is the wait. Note this: Lisa will not honor your appointment time. I’ll give you an example.
–You make an appointment at 3:00pm.
— You get there at 3:00pm, wait for 30 minutes while Lisa assures you that your wait will be short.
— She asks the owner Kim or someone else to wash and condition your hair.
— Then you wait for 15 more minutes.
— You think well she’s doing the finishing touches to that customer’s hair now so it should only take 10 more minutes max.
— Then when that customer stands up you think FINALLY!
— And she takes the customer who’s been sitting next to you and spends the next 30 minutes cutting their hair before it’s your turn.
The average time that I usually have to wait is 60 – 90 minutes after my appointment time. And I’ve never understood why until I decided to do a walk-​in one Saturday morning. I went there super early and Lisa didn’t have a customer. She proceeded to sit me down and start working on my hair when another customer came in. Apparently this customer has an appointment around that time. Lisa will cram in as many customers as she can during the day so appointments are totally useless.
I don’t blame her because the price shes charges is the cheapest among Westminster area ($ 18 last time I was there). But time is money and I cannot stand sitting around for 1 – 2 hours doing nothing. I believe an appointment is an agreement between her and me, and to not honor it is not being respectful to her customers. If you don’t mind the wait, I believe Lisa is a very good hair stylist. However, I’d rather pay more and get served on time.

I’ve always been super picky about how people cut my hair because it’s extremely thick and gets really frizzy if not done properly. I’ve come to Kevin twice now and I leave really happy each time. He actually knows how to do a trim by only cutting the dead and keeping the length. He thins my hair out so well it’s unbelievable, my whole head feels 5 times lighter. I’ve seen other people complain about the wait but honestly I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes, and that’s coming in on a Saturday afternoon and weekday late afternoon.

This review is only for Dzung. He only works on the weekends. I always take my kids to him (toddler boy and girl) because he does a fantastic job and is so meticulous. I’ve had some of the other ladies there cut my kids hair when he wasn’t available, and results are so-​so. If you are looking for a good cheap place to get your kids hair cut, come here and ask for Dzung! I didn’t give 5 star bc the shop itself is kinda dirty and they don’t seem to care to much about cleaning hair off the floor as often as they should

Just had my first salon dye job in years done by Mindy. No haircut. Really good service, she was nice and she did a good job. The pricing was reasonable considering the length of my hair. I paid 50 dollars to get my fading black hair back to black. I’ll be sure to come back to make an appointment with her.

I love getting my hair done here, and probably the only shop I trust to deal with my hair! I’m super picky but I have always been extremely pleased with the results! The owner Kim is amazing and always go to her!

I came to this hair salon and showed Ms Phi a picture I wanted my hair to be curled like that and she were sure she could do it. Ms Kim also helped her to curl my hair. They did so fast and professionally, so I didn’t worry anything. When they finished, my hair looked like straight hair, Ms Phi told me that when my hair was dried, it would be like the picture I showed (because she’d just washed my hair and it was still wet). I went home and saw that it was not curled but I’d hoped that when I washed my hair after 2 days, I would see the result. Today, I washed my hair already and the style looks awful. It’s not really straight. It’s not curl either. I don’t know how to describe. I uploaded a picture of my hair. You can see why I’m upset. I wasted money and time.

If you want a good hair cut look for the guy name Kevin, last time I let the owner cut my hair she did a bad job, doesn’t look good. One time my friend let the owner do tattoo on her eye brown couple month the color get so light. and she have to redo some where out.
This place is for hair only, don’t do your nail or anything out… Men $ 10 woman $ 20

Just a tip… Don’t get your hair washed or blow dried by the lady with a permanent scowl on her face and shoulder length hair! Lisa was swamped so naturally she asked one of the helpers to do this for her. Well she washed my hair with cold water which was SUCH a lovely experience AND she snagged my long hair in the blow dryer TWICE and scratched my face with the round prickly brush. Still love Lisa and the salon, but not that lady!!!

I love my nails! It’s a little higher cost than some places but it’s for the quality of the work. I love my nails!!!

This place is great! Make sure you ask for Larry. The kim can’t cut hair at all and she wouldn’t cut it the way you tell her to cut it. She wasn’t gentle and kept poking my ears and neck with the scissors. Never rushing into a haircut again, should’ve waited for Larry.

Like many women out there I have searched high and low for the perfect hair salon and the perfect person to cut and color my hair. I lived in Orange County for two years and was constantly disappointed by the other hair salons I went to until I discovered this hidden gem.
Make sure you ask for Kim! I was referred to her by a friend and have been going to her for over two years. I am so pleased with her work! I have never left the salon disappointed or wanting something different. I have so much trust in Kim now that I often give her broad directions such as: «trim and light brown color,» and she runs with it delivers AMAZING results. If you have more specific instructions she listens closely and will even show you pictures of the style of cut or color you are describing. If you do have something very specific in mind it always helps to bring in a picture, no matter what salon you go to.
Kim is such a natural when it comes to cutting and coloring hair! Her prices are extremely reasonable for all the work she does. I live 1.5 hours away from the salon and I go to her every time I am in the area. Highly recommend this Salon, specifically Kim as I have not gone to anyone but her.

Ok maybe I was a lil brash when leaving my last updated review ! Girls I tell you we are so bipolar. I have to tell you I love my long hair and cry whenever it’s too short LITERALLY haha I know I know it’s ridiculous ! But that’s where I feel all my woman lioness power is. in my hair !
So I came back with my tail between my legs and Lisa is always sooo very sweet and BUSY appointments are a must !. The salon itself gets pretty busy.
I got a color and trim (much needed soo bad) and the price is mos def more than reasonable left very happy !
I really love the fact that she cuts my hair dry! Cos when your hair is wet it stretches a bit ;)

The salon is a little dirty with floors that need sweeping but I take it as they have a lot of business. ;-)
My man and I come here to see Kim. She’s really sweet, experienced, and gives good haircuts for both men and women.
Sometimes Kim gives me too many layers and cuts my hair way too short because it was on a scorching hot day out and she thought she was doing me a favor. Lol, but I didn’t cry about it since my hair grows out pretty fast.
Nonetheless you know your hair cut turned out great when the style lasts and people continue to compliment it months afterwards.

Came here looking to get my nails done as my sister gets a haircut. The lady who said she would do my manicure and pedicure was shocked that I was asking for callous treatment too and said she doesn’t do that. She suggested for me to let her do the mani and pedi and go somewhere else for treatment. I told her what I wanted then refused the services and waited patiently for my sister to finish with the haircut. This lady later approached me saying she’ll do the treatment now and go buy the needed supplies. Though that was nice, by that time I was over it and made my decision to go to a real nail salon.
This place should not be advertised for nails! They have a small station in the corner that was covered in towels, they will only do the usual mani and pedi, and the place did not look clean for general nail services.
Just get a haircut!!!
