Just moved back 2 Virginia and after a horrible experience with Lee Nails in Hampton I went searching 4 another place this week. I tried Lyn’s Nails because I had been there a few years ago. As usually all nail shops r always saying you need a new set so I said ok. Mind you it was just acrylic over my own nails NOT new tips. They soaked my nails forever before a new person started my nails. That same person was doing a friend that I bought with me and doing eyebrows. Anyhoo Hoaung did a decent job but I have gotten my nails done professionally for over 25 yrs. and it has never cost 40 dollars!(2 little squiggleys on my party finger) Last time I checked acetone was only a couple of dollars. I felt this was a rip off and it was not explained to me what costs what, the place was messy and dirty. There was hardly any people in there but why try to make all the money off one customer. I will keep looking and would not return there.

I have been going to Lyn Nails for a year or two and normally I’ve never had any problems with being waited on or whatnot. However today was absolutely horrible. I came very early so I wouldn’t have to wait long. Me and my 65 year old mother got there at 9:50a and waited for an hour. Now here’s where it gets ugly. The owner of the shop takes not one, not two, but three people who came in after WE did. So not only was it unfair and rude but when my mom talked to the owner she dismissed her claim and out the door my mother went. Usually I’m met with smiles and Van is the one who’s service lurred me to become a regular customer however after today’s horrible service I will not return.

I really don’t know what to make of this place. I went for the better part of 2013 and everything was okay. The place has some cleanliness issues and I often wonder about the tools and things used because you don’t see them get cleaned off or anything. Floor is pretty nasty with gunk around it but the owner does good work. The problem I had was recently I got a shallac French manicure and the young girl who works there didn’t do a base coat. I was zoning out and watching TV and didn’t realize until it was too late, and on my lunch hour. The girl took a personal phone call while I sat there and she chatted things up. Maybe if she had paid more attention to the task at hand… anyway. Not two hours later the chipping started. My friend convinced me to go back and have the owner fix it — which she did in between clients. However her broken English is so broken, she doesn’t know how to tell a joke. Her young technician from the day before had sanded my nail so low that it split. So I had to cut it before it got to the underlying skin. When the owner went to fix this nail and go to sand it again, I took my hand away. She said ‘don’t cry about it, I won’t hurt you’. Her daughter tried to charge me one price, while the owner has always charged me less. She claimed that because I tipped so well she didn’t have the heart to tell me the ‘real’ price. Well, at one point I was a new customer, and you didn’t know I was a good tipper, so why not tell me the right price? She made me feel stupid for asking in front of a lot of customers. Then when she was fixing the screw-up manicure, she said ‘oh you’re lucky I can help you because my client don’t mind. If my client upset then I wouldn’t have been able to’ — I wanted to say look lady — your staff screwed it up and $ 33+ tip isn’t cheap. I just want a good manicure. I think after the experiences in her place the last few months, it’s made me less vain and I am going to learn to do them myself. So, basically, I won’t be back. What kept me from giving this place 1 star was that the owner does good work but I don’t like feeling insulted repeated times. It’s bad enough you wonder if someone is talking about you in another language, but no… this was loud and clear and in English.
