Fun place! Great drinks! Good music(and music videos playing on the TVs)! I’m pretty sure if we didn’t leave when we did, we probably would’ve gotten kicked out from having too much of their yummy drinks.

Was stuck in Honolulu during my flight back to NY so took a cab to this neighborhood spot. Paulie for president! Great drink specials and they had all the ingredients to make a liquid cocaine shot! Sandwiches sourced from delicious place. Wish I could stay longer!

No other place in Waikiki to go for good bartenders and even better drinks. Seriously the drinks are STRONG and CHEAP. 2−4−1 Wednesday is the night to go and they even have a DJ spinning until close

Bacchus is a very comfortable place that feels welcoming to everybody. The place is relaxed, staff friendly and attentive, and the crowd attractive… The bar is a worthy sister bar to our favorite SF hangout, 440 Castro. There is the same attention to making people of all ages feel at home. This is not a tourist hangout but a real place to talk, drink and be friendly

Bacchus on Wednesday is the place to be in gay Waikiki because YOUGET A FREEDRINKTOKEN for every(strong, topped off) drink you buy, which means all the bearded queens who can’t fix much are there looking for T&A, and I suppose one could find that sexy on top of all the free drinks. The bartenders are consistently well mannered and attentive and even entertaining and kind. If you are wondering, the atmosphere is dark with red cast lighting, the place sort of feels like that New York City bar Barracuda, maybe a little more leathery, and there is damn good air conditioning.

Staff is always so super friendly! I love this neighborhood bar. Can’t imagine going anywhere else. Should always be a first bar for visitors. Monthly boat cruises every second Sunday courtesy of Aloha Bears.

Love Bacchus! I even brought my mom there :) There’s a nice energy every time I go(have been there many times this summer). Good DJ’s, cute bartenders that help me find my dropped credit cards… silly me. I’ve met a bunch of great people there– seems to draw in a friendly crowd who like to socialize. Cheers!!!

Awesome bartenders. Best gay bar in Hawaii, hands-down. :) I occasionally go elsewhere [when in town], but in my humble opinion, this bar does the best job at bringing gay businesses together… as well as actually catering to their clientele. Also, not afraid to fly the gay Pride flag [says a lot to me about the integrity of the owner /management]. The new starter bar of the gay community in Hawaii… was new when I started this review(accidentally saved it as a Draft almost three years ago). I’m a blonde(lol). Must try this place at least once.

I’ve been coming here almost since they opened a few years ago. It used to be a fun place with great bartenders… and HOT bartenders :) They were the new bar in town and everyone went. Now its not the same… I went in the other night, after waiting in line for 20 min(at least), I noticed I was in the wrong line, it was not a bartender I knew, you know how that goes. But I waited all this time so I knew I better order a drink or I would die of thirst. What a mistake! This older balding guy, did NOT greet me, he just stared at me waiting for me to order, I ordered, he made my drink, which mind you, was made wrong,(how do you make a long Island wrong) and I was overcharged unless they have changed drink prices in the last couple weeks. After asking a couple friends who that was, I find its one of the owners!!! Well, that’s bothering, why would he be unfriendly, rude, charged me wrong and SLOW… This was a busy night, only experienced bartenders should be working. I hope he is not in charge of training new people. Looks like I will be returning to LoJax or Wang Chungs more, as Bacchus is losing its Aloha feeling.

Bartender was a nice guy, drinks were tolerable, crowd and music were almost completely not to my liking. Not too pretentious, but not gruff and rugged at all like a bear bar. The place Hardly looks like a bar from the outside. Go up the stairs to the second floor. I’d go back, but it didn’t hook me. I will say this, as a visitor from LA, the drinks are much cheaper in Waikiki! I love it!

I finally got the chance to drop by… ATMOSPHERE: Located on the second floor of a free standing building, you’re greeted by a sliver of a balcony which is great for hanging out and people-watching on Lewers St, and alcohol is allowed there. The inside is small and thankfully air conditioned, with a cool open beam ceiling & décor that reminds me of a country bar. The bar takes up almost half the room. There’s really no dance floor space. The DJ booth is at the back and the go-go dancer has a tiny perch to dance from off to the side. At the front are a few high tops and chairs. THECROWD: A bit younger but a good mix. Very chill and no obnoxious attitudes. Music was good(dance/house/techno) and not absurdly loud. SERVICE: The bartenders work slow but they were cool & friendly. PRICE: No cover charge. Beers were about $ 5. OVERALL: Nice place that offers both a comfortable inside and outdoor setting, with decent prices.

For many MANY years, when I would make my annual or bi-annual trips to Honolulu, Hula’s was my go-to place. I liked the view a lot, there were some really cute dancers there(oh James), there were really cute bartenders there(oh Brian), and it was just generally good times. While Hula’s will always be a go-to for me, Bacchus is finally a second choice worthy of consideration in Waikiki. The drink specials are good, the bartenders friendly, the crowd laid-back, and it sure gets busier than LoJax or Tapas. A nice place when you’re on that end of Waikiki and don’t want to lug your tired touristy ass down to Hula’s for the view.

Environment: 5⁄5 Employees: 5⁄5 Drinks: 5⁄5 Cost: 5⁄5 Accessibility: 3⁄5 Total: 23⁄25 Synposis: After living in Hawai’i for so long you would think I would know all the sweet spots, but I was caught aback when I found out that $ 2 drafter any beer was available. In comparison with Chicago, you would never find such a gem on a weekday. Fortunately for me, I am on vacay! Hollah! This place has a nice open area to let the breeze in, and when it is not packed it is a nice lounging place. Parking in Waikiki is typically horrible, so getting here on the early part of the night is most beneficial. And the employees have that Aloha spirit that I miss. Environment: It brings the winery and brewery feel to it. With all wood, and barrel seats. You would only hope that there would be wine and beer-tasting. What is also awesome is the fact that it is on the second floor, which brings in a nice breeze. Employees: The bartender that I had, definitely had Aloha spirit and a wonderful smile. A beer please! Drinks: Sapporo! Num… I had nothing else. I miss Japanese beer! Cost: $ 2 Tuesdays? You cannot go wrong with that… like really. can’t go wrong with that! Accessibility: this can be tricky in the latter part of the night, so I recommend going here early if you want to get the deal. We came here around 9 – 10PM, and was fortunate to get parking. Perhaps an hour or two earlier may be better to guarantee a non-paid parking spot.
