Red Sky Hookah Lounge

I’m surprised I haven’t written a review for this place seeing as how I’ve been a customer for over a year now. I mostly only go for its location and hours.
I’ll go to Red Sky, but it’s definitely not my favorite. There’s better places in the area but Red Sky is just so popular and my friends love it.
The ambience reminds me of a club. True to the name, the lights are red and there’s also some type of pop, edm, or hip hop music in the background. They also have a few tvs that always have the game on so it can get pretty rowdy. It’s usually busy even on weekdays; getting a table during peak hours on the weekend is almost impossible since people are there for hours.
The hookah itself is very well made. Their coals are the longest lasting I’ve gotten anywhere and they have so many flavors and combinations. A con is that they have a policy of one hookah per two people that they do enforce heavily.
Service is okay. The servers are always very nice and check up frequently but it also seems like they just want their shift to be over ASAP. Something else I don’t really like is that they rush you when closing time is near. Granted they have late hours, but there’s no need to turn on the lights, turn off the music, and put up chairs 15 minutes before.
Pros: location, ambience, hookah
Cons: wait, rushed closing, no free water

Ambiance is nice, basic hookah lounge. Good hummus (which I normally don’t like), but the service is horrible from start to finish. It’s the second time I’ve been here and I can’t say that I’m too happy with the customer service. They seat you and bring your hookah over but it seems like pulling teeth to get anyone to come over. Friends and I stayed here for a few hours to hangout and have a good time, which was successful, but as we’re about to ask for the check and leave, one of their waiters asks to take one of our tables for another group because «other people are waiting» AFTER we had told him we were leaving. So that was very rude and disrespectful on their part after we just spent our time and money there with included gratuity. I understand trying to get more clientele, but I don’t think risking pushing returning customers away is a smart thing. I’m sure my group and I won’t want to return after the HORRIBLE customer service we experienced tonight.

Good old college bar in the west end aroudn the Vandy campus. The crowd is pretty fresh and the service is great, you can also get a bite to eat along with games. Due to more bars around the crowd comes and goes but overall is well kept and managed.

Love this places atmosphere! It’s laid back, the music isnt suoer loud, I can comfortably hear the person next me and dont have to yell! So yay! Love the fact they serve Haze tobacco! Definitely recommended this place to anyone!!!

Nice music and nice place… their hookah is awesome… the food here is also good… They have awesome kababs. this is my second visit here .they have a large area inside and they also have a huge patio

Poor, slow service. Food was adequate but my first 2 food choices were unavailable. Mediocre hookah, if you need cute names for your flavors then this is the place for you, if you prefer your shisha to taste nice go elsewhere.

Sameer took great care of us and was attentive throughout our entire stay. Would recommend for great hookah and a laid back atmosphere.

We had at blast with sameer. Great food, drinks, music, smoke, vibe and all around great time.

Staff was really attentive and the food was really good. The atmosphere is also very relaxed and laid back, nice place to chill to unwind with some friends.

By far one of my favorite places to smoke hookah. Nice atmosphere & great tasting hookah, not to mention the food is awesome too!

This place was cheaper than most other hookah bars I have been to, but I could tell that «overweight white girls looking for a place to smoke and be comfortable» isn’t exactly their demographic. I felt snubbed and ignored for most of the time I was there.

The hookah is harsh and cheap. The water isnt even clean. And it taste like they dont clean the hookah properly. If you are an experienced hookah smoker this is not a place for you. gyro taste decent. I did get speedy service.

I have been to several hookah bars in the Houston area and this is one of my favorites. It’s a small lounge experience but the flavor are great. They have inside and outside seating which is great option to have if your going out with others. I have only had bad service once, but because it doesn’t happen a lot I let it slide. Great cozy date night!

Do not come here! The service sucks! 2 of my friends and I come inside only to be told that there weren’t enough seats for us to sit together so we could sit outside until people inside left. No big deal! We’re sitting outside with no problem and so is another group of people who came AFTER us. Their waiter brought them in BEFORE we got in and when our waiter came we let him know about this but he simply said I’m sorry I was in the back and I was busy. No big deal we understood. But then the situation happened two times more and when we let the waiter know he just didn’t care like wtf what type of service is that? We’re in the Houston heat just trying to get some ac and decent hookah. Long story short we never got to go inside. Way to go red sky. Never coming back here again. I wish Unilocal could let me give you no stars.

I came here with a friend while visiting Houston upon her recommendation. I was a bit hesitant but that easily calmed when we arrived. It was about 10:30pm on a Monday. It wasn’t too packed so we quickly grabbed a table and the waiter approached shortly after. We got a hookah (mixed flavor: blueberry/​mint) with ice tip. I had some bad hookah the night before so I was on edge about this place however I was pleasantly surprised that it was really good.

A really nice hookah lounge. The bathrooms are neat and tidy and the tables are kept really clean. The service is broken up between hookah servers and kitchen servers — new from when I was here last but definitely a good decision, it’s much faster now. The hookah servers are generally pretty knowledgeable, which is nice because there is such a large hookah flavor selection and it can be a bit daunting at first glance.
The inside seating area is really smoky as would be expected. If they added a fan or two it would really help a bit (my eyes started to water about 20 minutes in and I go to hookah lounges regularly) because the space is small. Speaking of small, if you’re not down for outside seating, which they have plenty of but they’re next to a noisy pub, be ready for a bit of a wait on weekend nights. On the plus side, parking is no issue.

Nice hookah spot. Very intimate & cozy. Came on a Friday night with my mom & they were super packed. Only had to wait for a table for maybe 5 minutes. Only thing I didn’t like was, while waiting, there’s no place to sit but an empty rsvp booth. I asked the guy if we could sit there until our table was ready & he said no… No one was sitting there though. He wouldn’t budge. So we just stood there like two idiots waiting for our table. Wack. But other than that, the hookah was good, & the hummus was yummy too. Theres no BYOB here & they don’t sell alcohol. Boooooo!

LOOOOVE this place. I live less than 10 minutes away and I’ve been here 5 or so times in the past 3 months and every time was better than the last.
Service: Great service every time I come. The staff are incredibly attentive. Anyone who passes by always asks if everything is ok whether they are assigned to your table or not. The first couple of times it was almost annoying, but it certainly beats not having someone around when you need something. Once they brought me the wrong hookah but realized the mistake before I began to smoke so no biggie. They offer to start the hookah for you and if they notice you haven’t puffed in awhile they come around and offer to make sure it’s still going. All of the servers are great, especially Ashton (sp?) 5 stars.
Hookah: Best selection of flavors in town and I’ve been to Café Layal, Mary’s and a few other establishments. Always very enjoyable. 5 stars.
Food: Their french fries are amazing, but the one time I ordered a dessert (truffles?) and they came out nearly frozen. 3.5 stars.
Atmosphere: Really comfortable seating, great for studying or hanging out and the music isn’t too loud. 4.5 stars.

I came back again a few weeks ago to give these guys another shot. As if it were even possible, the service was even worse than the first time. Horrible place. Should have known better than to waste my time coming back.
