The bartenders pad the tabs. Its nice local bar just poorly managed. Kinda hard for people to order drinks when bartender is busy smoking cigarettes and singing karaōke.

been here a few times, liked it for the ease of it; until the bartender blathered on about being so happy with the election results & why she was so happy; I commented to her about my opinion she was a difficult server rest of eve. No thanks.

This place sucks. the staff pays more attention to their friends and their cigarettes. It’s dirty and out dated with hokey Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. Skip this place.

I am totally a karaōke girl! My friend, Todd, is now here on Thursday’s and Friday’s letting us belt our hearts our. Nice cozy bar. Great acoustics. Great crowd. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly. Go check it out!

This is my go to happy hour dive bar spot. Beer and wine is cheap. There’s always plenty of parking. Bartenders are always very friendly and quick to serve. I met the owner once. He was a really nice guy, talked to us for a while and gave us a couple of koozies. All in all, a great neighborhood spot!

Went there on a thursday night because some friends wanted to meet there. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. That’s probably a sign. It was WAY too loud. Some guy had his karaōke setup there, but the bar is not set up well for karaōke. It was painfully loud. The bar was really backed up, and the bartender seemed more interested in singing than serving. When she was making drinks, she was pouring short. Several people were griping about it, and when a couple of people complained to her, she got upset and told them not to tell her how to do her job. Hard to screw up my bottle of beer though

If you live or work in the Galleria area, why waste an hour of your life on 610, just sitting in bump-to-bumper traffic, stressed out like a mo-fo — when you can stop into Richmond Chill for a pint, some fresh air and maybe even a snack? Do it, and you can thank me later. This is a tiny little bar that caters to all crowds. They’ve got board games, a food menu(and also allow pizza delivery). Happy hour is every day 3−7pm. Monday enjoy $ 2 Blue Moon pints all day; Tuesday offers $ 2 and $ 3 Texas beers; Wednesday is pint night with happy hour pint prices all night long, and sometime around 8pm begins the open mic series. Check it out. And tell the my girl Jamie, the bartender, Farrah sent ya.

(cue curtis mayfield or kenny loggins, which ever you prefer, in the background) it’s cool baby… you know, chill… i feel compelled to write this review in small case so that i can reiterate the vibe of the richmond chill bar appropriately. this is your classic, drink-special dive with an attitude that demands you relax a bit. wednesday nights are open mic and $ 2 domestic pints… the back wall boasts a long cushioned bench with over-sized pillows enticing you to sip a ziegenbock, throw your head back and enjoy the local talent. like any bar worth it’s salt in houston, the chill bar has a small patio that allows you to enjoy the buzz of 610 and warm houston evenings. the bartenders are generous with the pours and can be convinced to take a shot with you if you’re buying. wether you’re catching a game or just meeting up with friends, this place will put you in the mood to buy a few rounds and enjoy each moment as it passes. located just outside the loop on richmond avenue, it is a great location for after work cocktails or weekend meetups. you dig it the most baby… yeah…

Check out his«other» bar if your ever in the hood… Chappell Chill, it’s a great Texas bar! They have some awesom BBQ cooking on the big grill out back, man, Matt is a great host! It is a great destination for us bikers who stop in to say hey, and enjoy an adult pop… so it does have a bit of the biker scene. So, if’n ya ain’t skeert of seeing a few bikers, come on out and join Matt, and his gang on a Saturday or Sunday for some tasty BBQ!

Wednesday nights are the best. Open mic, resonably priced beer, and a great vibe. Of course I play the open mic, and well, always put on a great show — drunk or sober — always fun. The owner is a most chill dude. Matt is warm, friendly and if he was dressed in a bathrobe and shorts would surely abide. Check it out. You will be chillin”

When I come home to visit Houston and I want to go out somewhere laid back, this is where I go. I started coming here because a friend of mine was friends with the bartender, a darling brunette gal working her way into medical school. She makes a great White Russian. Anyway, this is the place to go when you don’t have a huge group, and don’t feel like jacking with valet parking, strict dress codes, cover charges and all that mess. Just pull up and park right out front, grab a table inside(it is tiny!) and a board game if you’re inclined, and enjoy the reasonable drink prices. So simple!

I went here this past Wednesday based on the review on Unilocal and proximity to my home, and was not disappointed. But boy was this place TINY. When I came in the front door I nearly walked right into the musicians in the stage area(later we learned that there were other unlocked doors further to the side of the bar). It was a bit crowded(easy to do in that space) and definitely an older crowd. Several men in Hawaiian shirts and a lot of khaki shorts. We already refer to it as «The Big Chill». Luckily, after grabbing some drinks from the quick bartender, we were able to snag one of the three tables that wasn’t in front of the big couch along the back wall. It was open mic night and all the performers I saw were good — much better than what I had imagine when I hear the words open mic night. As other reviewers have mentioned, there was $ 3 Blue Moon draft pints, which was a big plus for me. Their calendar said that they have Texas beer nights on Tuesdays including $ 2 Saint Arnold bottles, so I may return for that at some point. I didn’t try the food, but the menu was a fairly sizable selection of typical bar fare with decent prices. I definitely felt comfortable there — like it was a neighborhood bar, not like it was on one of the busiest streets in Houston. There was even, oddly enough, a fluffy bath mat in the womens’ bathroom. It is definitely a great place for some cheap drinks and live music. Although everyone seemed to be having a good time, it loses a star for a lack of an excitement factor. Although, perhaps I will have to withhold final judgment on that till I return on a weekend night.

There is no reason not to give this place 5 stars! Why fight crowds when you can get chill at this tiny bar on Richmond. So far I have only been there on Wednesday nights when I perform open mic, but free music and $ 2 beer goes a long way. There are always interesting people to meet here and the food isnt bad for a dive bar. I thought the Quesadillas were overly cheesy, but actually think the chicken sandwich is a pretty darn good, filling choice. Come on out and support live music Wednesday nights at 9. Also, if you have the guts, try and beat my top score in Card Raiders on their FREE game machine at the bar! It’s always a fun time at the chill and you never know what you are going to get. Anything between an empty bar and a big group of Happy Hour goers keeps this place an enjoyable place to drink beer!

The name says it all. This IS the CHILLEST bar on Richmond. I may have driven by this dive 1,000 times, but I finally dropped in for open mic night yesterday to see a friend play some blues(every Wednesday). Upon entering this cozy bar,(yes, I think everyone on Unilocal agrees COZY is the best way to describe Richmond Chill) I was immediately drawn to the giant cushioned bench dawning 20+ pillows. It took up the entire back wall and I LIKEDIT. Candy, the bartender, was super friendly and fast pouring our $ 3 Blue Moon pints(yum!). It seems like there is an awesome drink special every night of the week. Richmond Chill features a full bar and food menu to keep any patron buzzed and satisfied. Crowd was mixed with twenty somethings and charming geezers that just wanted to get their drink on — a friendly bunch to say the least. Nothing but smiles and pint glasses at Richmond Chill! I might just have to become a regular at this tiny, unpretentious joint.

i came here for the first time just this past saturday. i have some friends that live close and they said they kept driving by and have been meaning to check it out. they finally did and love it. so i came here with one of them to their new favorite spot. he kept«warning» me saying, its a dive bar, its small, etc. but i say, the divier the better. like a few have said, its small, its cozy, & chill. when he said dive, i pictured it being really dark, but it was pretty open and light. i believe i saw some board games there as well. thumbs up. we got here around 11 on a saturday night & there may have been 4 other people there, including a couple that was snugged up together on the little side booth. so its a nice«couples dive bar». the bartender was lovely. the music was awesome– music & jukebox selection will make or break a bar for us. my friend mentioned open mic night on wednesdays, dont know if that will follow through on st pattys day, but we will be here regardless. i am a fan. i need to try their food next time.

I visited the Richmond Chill to check out the Open Mic night yesterday(Wednesday), and I’m adding this to my list of fun hang-outs in Houston. The waitstaff was friendly, the facilities were clean, and I REALLY like the fact that they prohibit smoking within 25 ft of their doors, so I don’t have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in or out like I do at some places. Plus, it’s easy to get to, just a block off of the West loop. I was surprised by how small the place is(posted occupancy load sign says 26, yes twenty six, that is not a typo). But, it gave the live music a very intimate feel. Overall, not bad.

It’s a super cool cozy place to chill. You can go to this place for a casual conversation, date night, outing with coworkers, outing with friends. Bartenders are awesome, prices are cheap. They had live blues for mardi Gras but the band plays every Monday and it is worth watching while you«chill». Interestingly, they have a full bar food menu which is decent. The burgers look pretty good. The only reason, I did not give this place a five star is that this place is in strip mall and I have a thing against them. FYI Oak Forest Chill opens late Spring with a deck according to the onwer. Competition for Petrol Station, Cedar Creek & Big Star. The onwer wants to remain neighborhoody which to me says it’s cool. We need more of these old school Houston places in this city.

Who knew there was a place as relaxing as this one to hang out with friends in a freaking strip mall?! We were in the mood to have some after dinner drinks on Fat Tuesday, but not really feeling the crowd thing, so my friend suggests The Richmond Chill. Sounds like your run of the mill, grimy, grungy, dive bar, right? Wrong. It’s a pretty small place, but it’s cozy. There’s a big bench with a bunch of pillows elevated up pretty high on one end of the place, there are a few tables, and then there’s the bar. The bartenders are great, and the night we went it was $ 2 beer night! Also, the bathroom is clean and actually quite nice. Big plus and hard to find in many Houston bars. As far as food, the chicken quesadillas were fresh, not greasy at all, and the perfect complement to multiple rounds of Shiner Bock. Righteous jukebox too. Check out the website for more info on daily drink specials, live music, and the full menu.
