My parents celebrated their 25th anniversary at this establishment on Saturday, February 27th. It was a party of about 24 people so it was not an inexpensive evening. Right off the bat the room was way too hot. The thermostat was set to 80. The staff did lower the heat. Wait staff seemed very eager to push every portion of the night down our throats. If you didnt know what drink you wanted as soon as they asked it seemed to irritate them. Food was absolutely terrible. Penne a la vodka lacked taste and it was a very small portion. Half of us ordered the turkey, myself included. This dish included mashed potatoes. First bite of the mashed and we all instantly realized that they were sour! They must have used rotten milk or something. Turkey was very dry. Management did offer a free round of drinks to make up for the potatoes. They also served us fresh potatoes. My parents pre ordered cookies from this establishments own bakery. The party was scheduled to end at 10 o’clock. It was around 940 that my parents asked the staff where the cookies were. They then took cookies from the buffet and tried to pass them off as the ones my parents already paid for! This place deserves less than one star. Its a shame what this new ownership is doing to a place that a lot of people loved going to. I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again.

On 2÷14÷2016 We got there about 2PM and I ran in to see if they had a table available as I did not want to have mom get out in case they did not. Told yes they have a table and brunch is just ending that they only have the menu stuff available. No problem. All 3 of us get in and I ask about the table and than was asked do we want the buffet or regular menu. Does the staff not know what time brunch ends or what? Said regular menu. Than they shuffle us to the back up the ramp and through 3 different doorways. With mom and the walker this was a very slow task. I did eye some empty tables along the way. Finally got settled in and I asked about the clam chowder as I really do not like Manhattan style. Told it was the white one. After they started to put it in front of me I said I asked and was told white please take this back and give me the pea soup instead. It is peas in water. Really now. Paul had the onion soup and said it was okay. They really need to get a German chef or a new chef that actually knows how to cook. Pork gravy should not be overwhelmed with ginger snaps taste. Just got back from the buffet at the Milleridge Inn for Valentines day. First of all I want to say that the service was over the top! They were the nicest and most attentive wait staff that I experienced in a long time. As for the food… it was good. The lobster was plenty and it tasted great so right there it is worth the price. The sushi was awful. They really need to eliminate that or bring in someone for some advice. Everything else was good. I would go again… not anytime soon but I would go again. I think they would benefit from a few pasta dishes… penne ala vodka, tortellini… etc. it is cheap and filling and what people want. Overall a good experience!

This was always one of my family’s favorite places to dine so we were very happy to enjoy a pre-Valentines dinner last night. The food we did have was good as always. We understood the wait to be seated, the half hour wait for soda and even the pop overs being served mid dinner and only after being asked for several times but when the bill was brought for 12 dinners when there were only 9 Adults, 2 Children plus a 5 month old who wasn’t gumming anything yet is not understandable. Mistake #1 extra dinner being charged, bIll was corrected and paid. Mistake #2 second bill brought for additional charges such as appetizers which we were told they did not have,(2 orders of wings) again there is an additional Sourbrattan on the bill but only one person ordered it. Took a while for the bill to be corrected. Found more mistakes today. New owners are not very impressive right about now!

I have been here many times over the years. This was the first time under the new management. It was a very terrible dining experience. we were brought out our salads and almost immediately the kitchen waiter brought out our lobster ravioli. So by the time we were done with our salad the lobster ravioli was ice cold! While we were still eating the ravioli the entrée came out. The place was not busy for the time we were there so we did not understand why we were being rushed with our courses. I would have thought that the ravioli would come out first and then once we were done with it the salad would be brought out. And then once we were done with that the entrees would be brought out. The food did not taste its best as in previous dining experiences here. We could have gotten better service at a crappy chain restaurant.

This was my favorite place to go until they were a taken over by a large corporation. Very stingy with the lobster tails, mature ‘d was rude beyond belief, kept staring when I went up for another ½ lobster tail. Bread was very stale. Shops were closed so I asked to purchase a bread at my table to take home, which I used to be able to do, and the matre’d snapped don’t give her any bread. I wanted to buy it for the $ 2.50 usual cost, not steal it. Left feeling very unwanted. Will not return

I love Milleridge Inn. I have been here for dinner once, brunch once, for a baby shower(that I helped host for my sister in law) and a bridal shower. The food and service is always good and never disappoints. 4 stars because it is indeed pricey! Just walking in, you can literally feel the history. If the rumors are true and the building in danger of closing, it would be a tragic loss as it is probably the oldest building in Nassau County that is still in use today and one of the oldest on Long Island. I hear other reviewers say that the décor is outdated-uh, it’s supposed to be! It’s a huge part of the entire experience! A Long Island staple and true piece of history. I pray they are able to save the Milleridge Inn!

This is the go to place when I’m visiting my elderly parents. We love the history of the place and the traditional American décor. It’s quiet enough for them with hearing impairments to have a conversation without music blaring in the restaurant. This is typically a place for families and the older crowd. The ambiance is 5 star. We went the week of Christmas and the restaurant was beautifully decorated, fireplace lit, and carolers went around the dining rooms. The shops outside were all lit up with Christmas lights and every room had a Christmas tree. The food I’d give 2.5 stars. The flavor is okay, but nothing creative. All the entrees are served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. There is no option to choose your own side dishes. The old menu used to include an option for French Onion Soup as an appetizer, but now it’s an additional $ 4.95. The cheesecake also was a dessert option, and now it’s an additional $ 4.95. The meals are a bit pricey, $ 36 – 45 per plate, but they do include app, entrée, dessert and coffee. Meals are served with popovers and cinnamon bread. Portions are enough to satisfy a hungry man, but not so large you have to take it home. Parking is easy. There’s a coat check during winter. If it’s your first time there, definitely take a stroll around the little village shops.

One of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant. For $ 45 – 50 each we received sub-par service, sub-par food, and had an absolutely terrible experience with management. We dined on Wednesday, December 23. I understand that my family can be loud, needy, and difficult, and that the holidays are a difficult time for foh in general. Drinks were slow to be refilled, our server made no eye contact and was incredibly unfriendly. Still, I thought since we were and big party and she was having a busy night, no big deal. She had no time to even talk to our table, seemed rushed and unconcerned. But as when things wore on, dish after dish was mediocre and she did not come back to check on us until the food was mostly gone. Soups and salads came out at all different times, the entrees were almost cold when we got them. I approached the manager after the meal, told him we had a negative experience and that for an almost $ 400 dinner, we had expected more. Instead of remedying the situation or approaching our table, we were completely ignored. I went to him again, and he accused me of lying about the poor service to get a discount and said«he spoke to the server and she said that everything was fine.» Then he walked away while I was still speaking. I have not seen such mishandling of a guest situation in my life. Ive worked in the industry for six years and try very hard to have my guests leave happy, even when their concerns seem outlandish. Here I was with a valid concern, calmly approaching management, and I was brushed off and the manager was downright rude and very, very unpleasant.

My husband surprised me with dinner for our anniversary at the Milleridge since we heard it might be closing(thankfully it’s not!!!)(we got married at the cottage 4 years ago). We decided to get the Buffett dinner and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. All the food was so delish and fresh. Pasta station was amazing! Fish was fresh. Steaks were delish. And dessert was even better! I got a waffle Sunday– and 2 drinks were included! Can’t go wrong! Needless to say we rolled out of there! We will definitely be back! So glad they are staying open!

This place is a Long Island Staple and I have never been disappointed with any of my visits here, which is usually a couple of times a year for parties. Let restart out by saying the the staff here is nothing less then magnificent. They were so in-tune with the guests and any needs they may have had. ALL he appetizers were terrific, as matter of fact I had so many lamb chop, beef wellingtons, crab cakes, shrimp in bacon, pigs in blanket)(of course,) that when it came time for dinner at the buffet, I just watched. Items were cooked to completion, I had nothing that was dry, undercooked, watery, etc… For dinner I ate the lobster claws and shrimp. Again, all cooked perfectly and all had a great fresh taste. This is definitely a place that I would have host my party or even come for dinner one evening. The grounds are charming and it’s just a fun place to walk around and browse the shops. I am certainly looking forward to my next visit here, and if I leave room for dinner, I will give an extensive review of each item ate.

This place looks really nice. They decorated it very nicely for Christmas. The food is absolute garbage. It’s all packaged frozen swill, like cafeteria food only overpriced. The service is amazingly slow and awful. I came back to a dirty plate after every trip to the buffet. Still waiting for a refill and coffee. We wanted the bill split up between the couples in our party and the waitress was incompetent and complained to us that it was going to take too long. She brought the manager over and he said the same thing. It would have been quicker to just split the bill than bitch about how long it would take. This place is hanging on because of tradition. I can’t imagine any new customers coming more than once. Its unfortunate, this place could be spectacular but it’s just another crappy food factory.

My first time to this Long Island landmark… Had a company«Holiday Dinner» recently… the venue is perfect for the season… entire place is light up with Christmas theme. History on the joint goes back to 1635; you’ve got to be kidding me! Anyway; they put the 20 of us in a small cramped room in the main building. Service was professional, but not outstanding. Rumors are the place is up for sale… dinner was institutional, salad bland, pasta appetizer nothing special. I had chicken cordon bleu as an entrée… meh…only thing memorable was the popovers they some server handed out out of a ittle red ridding hood basket… We had a 4 singing carollers come by and belt out couple of Christmas tunes… they were actually pretty good… I doubt I would go back for a dinner there until my 80th birthday celebration…

There appear to be plenty of legitimate reviews hidden under the«not currently recommended» section by Unilocal and MI. Most seem to be there because they gave MI only one star. Caveat emptor. I’ve eaten at MI a good number of times over the years. I end up going on a holiday for the ambiance alone. I’ve never expected the food or service to be good — they never are. Don’t go for the food and don’t expect above average service.

We got married 20 years ago at the cottage, and upon hearing it was sold and might be closing, we went there for a final dinner. The menu was smaller than it used to be. The Milleridge used to be known for pot roast and prime rib. Tonight, prime rib wasn’t on the menu. So I went with the Yankee Pot Roast. It was as good as I remembered. My wife had the filet mignon. It was not as rare as she would have liked and was a little dry. My daughter enjoyed her salmon and my son had steak. Overall a good experience, but with tip, and only a single glass of wine, with tip it was well over $ 200. It was good overall, but not spectacular. But we hope they don’t close. The Milleridge is a Long Island tradition that has survived for generations. It should be around for generations to come.

Came here once for a Mother’s day dinner. Not a bad ambiance, but the food was OK, and didn’t understand what people were raving about. Just seemed like a stuffy place, that was outdated and tried to give off this air or fancy, classy, or elegant. Yeah, maybe it’s a traditional place, catering to an older, family crowd, but some updates wouldn’t hurt. Definitely a family place though. It wasn’t packed, but a lot of tables were full, granted it was Mother’s Day after all. Cute outdoor shopping area, a bunch of small, intimate cozy shops selling knick knacks, crafts, and desserts. Food: Mediocre, so obviously just paying for the stuffy elegant air they are selling you. Generic mashed potatoes, not thick, rich, and fluffy. Turkey was pretty good, but maybe it just had a lot of gravy/sauce. And that cinnamon bread everyone is raving about. Just OK. Was fluffy, but not living up to the hype. One time deal for me.

Sad, Really. This place was once one of the grandest Restaurants of Long Island and even as recently as twenty years back they still would fill the cavernous dining hall for thanksgiving, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. Today the focus is on weddings and special events which means the dining hall is like a human appendix, it’s there but serves little purpose anymore. For Father’s Day they offered a buffet which at a fancy continental restaurant to me is like waving the white flag. It’s the lazy way out. Let’s just put everything out and let em graze. The only food that I enjoyed was the freshly baked waffle and banana foster. Our waitress was warm and friendly and by no fault of hers is this place on the verge of shutting down. A sign of the times.

Overall: 2 stars Food: 2 stars Service: 3 Stars Value: 2 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Will I go back? Probably not. People seem to rave about this place, especially around the holidays. I’m not really sure why. Food: food was ok. Not great, not bad. Mashed potatoes tasted like an out-of-a-box mix. Felt like a corporate cafeteria to be honest. Service: Attentive, gave recommendations when asked. Not memorable Value: Expensive for what you get. Atmosphere: It was the Christmas holiday time when I went. They have carolers, and tried to foster a Christmasy feel, which was good. It’s obviously a place with frequent catered holiday parties, and they set up through out the day, so it’s a maze to walk through with obstacles. Will I go back? It wasn’t good enough to go back.
