If you’re looking for a place where they cook food straight off the delivery truck, this is the place. Mediocre is a stretch, and if fresh food saw this place it would turn and run. The ambiance is somewhat rustic, but what I originally thought was smoke from the BBQ is clearly the stale smell of cigarettes even in the non smoking section. Staff are somewhat clueless and I’m not sure they understand English well. Not trying to be derogatory, but had to repeat requests multiple times to multiple staff to get simple things like silverware. Not a place we will venture again.

Judge Beans has, by far, the BEST burger in this area. Order«The Judge’s Big Burger» which is a one pound burger stuffed with cheddar cheese. Comes with two sides; I always get fries and onion rings. The burger is huge, and tastes like a «gourmet-version» of Burger King. lol A great home-BBQ type of smoky/charcoal flavor. I dine here or order take-out here frequently and the food is always consistently AWESOME. The pork chops are fantastic too… Large, flavorful meat and tasty sides. I love the Texas Toast. Breakfast here is great too. Management is very friendly, warm and welcoming, and the servers are very polite and attentive. 100% my top 3 favorite restaurants. I’d be devastated if they ever went out of business.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. The story of Judge Roy Bean is amazing. I remember watching the movie as a kid, and it was wonderful. So, I thought, how Texan! How perfect. We ordered some jalapeño poppers, and when they came, I asked for some bleu cheese dressing instead of the ranch. And that, boys and girls, is where our idyllic tale hits a rough patch. The bleu cheese dressing took so long to appear, that we had already eaten the poppers. We waited and ate slowly, but nope. Our waitress gave us some comped poppers and more dressing. Which was wonderful. I think she was really trying, but the place got a little busy, and she was the only waitress. I would have given only a single star, but her efforts were notable. But it took over an hour to get our meals. Nothing happened promptly. We would have been OK if the food had been actually good. But the burger was cold and bland, and my nachos were sad, soggy, and cold. And my beloved sweetheart got very upset. It ate an hour and a half of our time, and we left almost hungry. I say«almost» because by the time we left we were so upset we had lost our appetites. There is a great piece of history behind this place. Judge Roy Bean was an amazing and very colorful character from American history. His memory could be preserved and showcased wonderfully here. With some attention to staff and service, and by giving the décor some real character, some sincere Texan flair, it could really shine. It still has some amazing potential. It needs some changes, but they are doable and inexpensive. Take some care with the training of the staff. It’s apparent that they care about each other. They should care about the legacy of Judge Roy Bean as much. Training should include learning some pride about where you work, and instilling that so deeply that it carries through to the customer.

Horrible service, walked in an hour before they close and they didn’t want to serve us. 2 times in a row. This place use to be amazing but with poor service the place is getting run down.

My favorite divey place… And the Jesse James burger is among my favorites. It’s crave-worthy. They have decent local bands here on the weekends. I have had breakfast here, and I would definitely add another star for the homey feeling of a leisurely breakfast. Very affordable.

I’ve been driving past here for 13 years. The parking lot is always busy. A friend and I decided to grab a bite to eat tonight and catch up on the latest. I walked in about 4:45pm. Odd place. Not sure how to describe the walk in experience. Lots of small wooden cubicle type areas, rather plain, almost like they forgot to put something up on the walls. Seemed kind of barren and closed in. The lady who came to seat me, seemed a bit confused. I said there would be two. She stood there and looked at me, and asked«did you want to be seated?» I looked back and said«yes.» She hesitated and looked at me, like she wasn’t sure what to do. It got awkward as the moment drug on and nothing was happening. I was standing there, she was holding a menu, and she seemed distant. I got the distinct feeling she wasn’t sure what to do, as I was one person asking for a table for two. I finally said, «my friend is a ghost. He’s right here with me, but you just can’t see him.» No smile, no ice breaker, nothing. She stammered something, and I finally repeated«table for two please.» She still seemed confused and I finally said«I’d like to be seated, my friend will be here in a bit.» That seemed to click. I ordered coffee black. It wasn’t good, so I didn’t drink much of it. The spoon she served with the coffee, not sure why I got one, was nasty. It was coated with something. Good thing I didn’t need it. I asked for water. The menu is very basic: burgers, sandwiches, chicken fried steak, that kind of thing. Seemed to me like they were ordering right off the Cisco truck. The ambiance is lots of simple wooden cubicles, like a six flags cheap version of an old west jail cell. Various generic old west type sayings on the wall. Nothing seemed appealing to me, fun, or interesting. I ordered the chicken tenders with fried okra and green beans, two slices of Texas toast, and cream gravy. My friend ordered the pork chop. He really liked his pork chop and ate every bite. My chicken tenders were good. The green beans seemed like canned but maybe had a little something added to make the flavor a touch better. The fried okra was ok, crispy, not bad. The Texas toast was ok. The gravy was actually good. My food wasn’t bad. Not special, but I couldn’t call it bad. That is the reason they got a two star. I wanted to use ketchup, but the ketchup container on the table was slimed with dried ketchup. It was nasty and not usable in my estimation. The waitress, the same person who served as hostess, was simply awkward. She seemed uncertain, out of place, but willing to get what we needed. She didn’t seem comfortable as a waitress and was simply ‘ok.‘ The bill was only around $ 13 with the tip, so the price isn’t bad. The place was mostly empty, not sure why there were we so many cars in the parking lot when it appeared so empty. Honestly, this place seemed tired, old, has an identity issue if you ask me, awkward staff, generic but ok simple food, and was a bit dirty. The nasty silverware and bottles on the table were unacceptable.

First time in and stopped for breakfast. Pricing was good and although a little slow the food was good. Gravy was thin but biscuits and hash browns were good. Wouldn’t be my favorite place mainly because it is dark and chopped up but not too bad.

My husband and I were driving around in Keller and he saw the sign and was reminded of a Judge Beans in Irving from when he was younger. He said he remembers the food being good, especially the chicken fried steak. We weren’t sure if this one was owned by the same people but decided to stop in anyway. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot which lead us to think there were lots of customers inside… wrong! We were 1 of 2 tables and it was around the lunch rush. We ordered the appetizer sampler with the chicken fireballs(still frozen in the middle), chicken wings(super salty), and stuffed jalapeños(tasted like the ones from Walmart). I ordered a half rack of ribs with green beans and mashed potatoes, and it came with a house salad. There was a hair on my salad when it came out so I did not eat it, although I did try the ranch and it tasted pretty good. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak he remembered from his childhood, with corn and fries. Of our entrees and sides, the only edible things were the green beans(tasted like canned beans), the chicken fried steak(even though the gravy was super runny and not thick), and the fries. I did not even finish one rib before I decided that I can’t eat the rest… and trust me, I LOVE ribs, I’ve never NOT finished my ribs before. This is the first time! The service was good, our waitress was super nice and attentive, refilling our drinks regularly and checking on us frequently(probably because there weren’t many customers there!). This is definitely a disappointment for us, and we will never go back. Please save your time and money and go elsewhere… ANYWHEREELSEISBETTER.

I’ve tried Judge Bean’s twice, and I just can’t see why they get such a business! Whether Burgers, Steaks or other Entrees, nothing has been especially good and the entire place feels like it needs a good cleaning.(Don’t tell me it’s ambiance, because there’s a difference between atmosphere and filth.) On my last visit, the table next to me complained of a hair in their food. The cook came out to show them that it wasn’t a hair, but in fact, a bristle from the basting brush. But, that was the nastiest, crusty, should have been thrown away a long time ago basting brush I’ve ever seen. It didn’t really make me feel any better to see it, and I also wasn’t wild about him walking through the restaurant with it! The place stays business, but I’m not a part of their business.

If you slother everything in house made ranch, you MIGHT like this place. Terrible bland cafeteria food. My kids cheeseburger was better than the CFS and CFC meals.

Judge Beans is a fixture in Keller and is a throw-back to the great family steakhouses of yesteryear! Nice happy loud local crew in the old-smoking bar for happy hour with a nice smoke-free dining room option. I’ve always had great service!

We had a poor experience about a year ago, but decided to give them another try today. I am glad we did! Our waitress, Laura, was helpful and attentive. My steak was cooked to order, the okra and beans and tater skins were good. My wife had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and said they were good as well. The only thing that wasn’t great was my salad, which wasn’t actually bad. I don’t recommend the blue cheese dressing; get the ranch instead. Oh, there is a faint smoke odor, but it wasn’t strong and I quickly stopped noticing it.

Being new to the area, we were looking for a place for some good food and cold beer. This wasn’t it. We were seated quickly, and our order was taken soon as well. Then the waiting began. I assume this place is very driven by regulars because the waitress checked on everyone on a regular basis except us. I had to get up and find the waitress(sitting in a booth eating) to ask for refills on our drinks. No atmosphere, slow service, mediocre food. This place has a great deal of potential to be a cool place to go, but at the moment NO…

Took my daughters to Judge Beans expecting a little more than what it was. I agree with other reviews, it seems dirty. There was no crowd –we were one of maybe 3 tables. It was Saturday lunch time, we ordered burgers and chicken fried chicken, the burgers were great! The chicken fried chicken my daughter had looked good, she said it was okay. The staff wasn’t overly friendly, the lady took us to our seats, took our order, brought our food, offered no drink refills, we paid & left. I give this place an «okay» rating. Unfortunately there is nothing spectacular about the Keller Judge Beans.

The place reeks of smoke and is dirty. The service was friendly, but very slow. My meat was overlooked, tough, and way under seasoned. The side veggies were not tasty. The tea was ok, and the salad and ranch dressing was good. To top it all off they serve margarine. I was totally unimpressed.

Went there last night(Saturday night). Didn’t eat but just went for a cold beer. There was only about 10 people in there, 2 of those were the 2 man acoustical band and one of them was one of their girlfriends. So it was dead in there. The 2 man band was great and played good music and even allowed one of the patrons to come on stage and sing a song with them. I’m giving them 4 stars because the bartender was super friendly(I think her name was Tonya) and the other patrons were really friendly too. Given a chance, this place would be a great place for friendly conversation, dancing and good olé’ clean beer drinking fun times.
