We arrived at Mazens at 6:30 on Friday evening and requested a table in the bar. The host informed us that the bar was open seating. We were seated at a table in the bar area. After being seated, our waiter Case, took our order for a bottle of wine. After being seated for about 10 minutes waiting for our wine, the host approached us and asked us to move from that table because they had forgotten about a reservation. I told them that was extremely rude to ask a customer to move and refused to give up my table. After approximately 15 minutes our bottle of wine finally arrived. Our waiter poured our glasses and disappeared!!! We did not see him again. After waiting approximately an HOUR, our appetizer or dinner order had still never been taken. Needless to say we requested to see a manager. The manager offered us 25% off of our bottle of wine and a very shoddy apology. I have never had such disrespectful service or lack there of in my entire life. We left about 8:30 and had to find dinner at another restaurant. Mazens really needs to take a look at their service staff.

The food is good, but the last few times that I’ve visited this establishment, the wait time for my food to arrive has been extremely long. The ambiance, décor and upkeep of this restaurant is deplorable. If you want to be a fine dining establishment, then you need to make sure that the physical appearance of the restaurant mirrors what you’d expect to see in a fine dining restaurant.

The food was good. The building is in desperate need of renovation. But the chocolate soufflé with fresh cream is exceptional!!! Do not leave without having it! With the cream makes it over the top!

Mazen’s is a staple for great food and superior service. The wine selection has a bit to be desired. However, do not miss the soufflés! Don’t feel you need to get all dressed up to go, the bar offers a spacious dining area with a more casual setting. Enjoy!

Went to dinner with a group of 5. We all ordered fish. I chose the Fish Della. The fish was pan fried and covered with a red pepper sauce and lump crabmeat. The sauce was very tasty, with a nice bite from the red pepper. The meal included cubed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Everyone in our party really enjoyed their meals!

Sticking a piano in your restaurant doesn’t automatically make your establishment classy, and sticking the word«Rockefeller» after your oyster appetizer doesn’t make your establishment exclusive or posh. Mazen’s is trying to be something that it’s not. This restaurant reminds me of a backwards country girl who thinks that big city life is all about wearing designer clothing and being mean and snotty to people because that’s what she sees in the movies and she’s…never actually been to a big city. Leave it to Mazen’s to bring me out of a 2+ year Unilocal hiatus. On the planet Mazen, hostesses do not greet you when you walk through the door. They stare at you blankly and do not smile. The only reason why you get seated is because another employee recognizes you as a friend of a friend. You feel grateful for this, otherwise you’d still be feeling like you just walked into a funeral parlor(and yes, even the décor tacitly proclaims this). When you get seated, you are ignored for at least 20 minutes. No one asks you if you need anything to drink. Finally, a waiter who resembles Judd Nelson and seems just as cool and nonchalant as his Breakfast Club character says he’ll take care of you since he feels bad you’ve just been sitting there. You feel grateful that you’re being attended to… at a restaurant. Where you are supposed to be attended to. And waited on. …not kept waiting. At real five-star restaurants, the dining experience is timed so that the customer is never kept waiting. Someone brings your appetizers at just the right moment. Someone brings your entrees at just the right moment. Someone scrapes crumbs off your table. Someone refolds your dining napkin when you’ve left your seat to go to the bathroom. Everything should be smooth, and patrons shouldn’t be left wondering if they’ve been forgotten about(I didn’t even order dessert because I had already been at Mazen’s for more than two hours and I just wanted to be able to go home). No amount of crawfish bisque will ever be able to take away the terrible taste Mazen’s left in my mouth. This was not our waiter’s fault at all. It’s just clear that Mazen’s is masquerading as a five-star restaurant. I don’t expect a five-star experience from Raising Cane’s, just as I wouldn’t expect a five-star experience from a Holiday Inn… but I do expect a five-star experience from a restaurant that touts itself as the veritable Waldorf Astoria of seafood restaurants in Lake Charles. Mazen’s = a Motel 6.

Had the red snapper with a jalapeño sauce and it was really good. The fish was cooked great and topped with a few shrimp and a great sauce. Service could have been a little friendlier for sure but overall it was a good meal and good experience. I am in medical sales and I would bring customers here for sure.

Terrible experience. We were with a group of 10. Food took over 3 hours and wasnt that great… gumbo so salty, crab cakes blah, and steak ok. Our tickets were split incorrectly and we were charged for items we did not order. We had to beg for 20 minutes to speak to the manager. Finally someone came out, find out later he was the owner. He lied to my face about helping us. He acted like he was going to walk to our table but instead went in his office and shut the door. Absolutely jerk! I would say every person in our group would have wished to have spend their $ 75 in the casino instead. I would never return or recommend to anyone. Worst experience possible.

Went for lunch. The Fish Aladdin was very good. The portion size and sides were disappointing. For 18.95, I would expect the whole filet, not half. The sides were 5 squares of fried potatoes and green beans with huge chunky onions and garlic. I love garlic but wow it was overpowering. My husband ordered the steak, it comes covered in sauce, so if you are a steak lover ask for it on the side!

The best restaurant in lake Charles. Fantastic crabcakes, great steaks, grape leaves, fish, everything. Ask for the strawberry fiete dessert. Not on the menu but divine. Great soufflés too, especially the half grand marnier half chocolate. Usually go for lunch. Only downside is not cheap and usually slow and sometimes spotty wait service. Only go when you are not in a rush.

Excellent service for dinner; great food. I had the duck with excellent raspberry sauce. Not accustomed to having so much silverware, then having the waiter nab most of as I was eating(I am a slow eater). Great unsweetened tea.

I had high hopes for this place as well… are you seeing a theme here for my reviews in the SWLA area? The seafood seemed ok, the sauce makes it tastey. I ordered the falafel both times, the first time it was cooked perfect and just the right amount of flavor, the second time the garlic was so overpowering I couldn’t even eat it and it was burnt. I had a spinach salad the second time and it was good, I wish they had a better salad dressing selection. I am sure we will go back as it has been the only place with decent fresh fish that is ok priced, when visitors from corporate come into town we go here. The best fresh seafood is still la truffe in this area.

They need a full time hostess! Came in not greeted(along with 3 others). Asked for manager but told not one on site but she was morning manager and assured this is not normal. Saw hostess carrying table cloths, silverware, glasses, to go orders. Others came in and were not greeted. One couple with reservations was lead to their table only to fine it was not ready and had to return to wait. Food good. Hostess /greeter /manager issue. The piano player was the most helpful person in the lobby.

My Husband and I went there 2 weeks ago for our 20th wedding anniversary, they knew it was our anniversary, our reservation was for 7pm. When we arrived they seated us at what looked like a card table in the BAR, my chair wobbled. My husband went to the hostess and told her it was unacceptable, it was noisy and this was our 20th anniversary. They reluctantly moved us to the main dinning room where we were ignored for 20 minutes. Once we ordered, service was better but still slow and methodical. The food was excellent, but my lamb, which had been served sliced into lamb chops and beautifully presented the last time, came in one piece and just sitting in the middle of the plate with sauce over it. Not very appealing. So I had to slice each«lollypop» or «chop» off myself, made a bit of a mess and had to get my fingers into it. not exactly how you want a meal to show up when it costs $ 30. The potatoes for the 2nd time were insanely salty, didn’t eat them. My husband’s fish was excellent, he had no complaints. Not sure that I will go there again.

I had high expectations for this restaurant. My husband and ordered the crawfish bisque and it was very good! Thank goodness my soup was good because my entrée was not edible! I ordered the weiner schnitzel and it was so greasy and just tasted bad! My food was nauseating! My husband ordered a fish plate topped with a crabcake… the fish wasn’t very good. The crabcake was tasty. Thank goodness my server was awesome! He noticed that I didnt eat any of my entrée and took it off of our bill. Very dissapointed in this place!

This is the place to eat in Lake Charles — reasonably priced steaks and seafood — with a little Mediterranean/California flair. I eat here every time I go back to Lake Charles and have had great meals every time. The service recently was really stellar as well(I was there just last week).

We had Triple Tail here. INSANELY delicious. The BEST fish plates we have ever eaten anywhere. Anywhere. We had the munier and the lemon butter versions. The gulf tuna seared rare was beautiful and fantastic. This place has expensive prices, but it is WELL worth the money. Wow. Service was classy and great. Don’t half step. Order Triple Tail when you go there.

I had pretty high hopes for Mazen, which came highly recommended. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to my expectations. The service wasn’t very good, and even bordered on terrible. My server was doing his best, and was excellent, but he was clearly overworked. When I first arrived the host was no where to be seen. As I waited, two other parties arrived. For some reason we were all assigned to the same server. Having once worked as a server I know it is difficult to be triple sat. All of the servers seemed to be zipping around on the floor — they just looked over worked. So, in my mind, my poor service wasn’t the server’s fault — it is the management’s fault for not having enough servers on the floor. The crawfish bisque was excellent — and if the entrée has been ever half as good as the soup — I would have awarded Mazen at least three stars. For my entrée, I ordered the twin filets with lump crabmeat served in some sort of sauce. The steak was cooked right, but the sauce killed it. The sauce was essentially an extremely over-salted gravy. It just murdered any flavor I should have experienced from the steak and the crabmeat.
