This is the real deal. If you are looking for good local food, come here. No frills, just good old Cajun food done right.

I don’t know why the average rating is only 3.5. I visited with two friends a few weeks ago and that crawfish is so good and easily beat any other restaurants I have visited along Baton Rouge to Houston line.

Minimum order on crawfish is 4 lbs, ruined my trip because I didn’t want 4 lbs. Tried shrimp and crab gunbo… aweful. Steamboat Bills has better atmosphere, food and service.

The best things on the menu are the seafood gumbo, crawfish, and potato salad. Everything else is mediocre and the Texas toast is NOT Texas toast. Service was okay but it took about 30 minutes for our server to bring the bill, which was apparently because she was waiting for the cashier to separate our checks for the group. We went with a group of about 16 people for a going away celebration, and after 40 minutes of waiting to be sat the manager refused to put any tables together so our group was forced to sit at 4 separate 4-tops. Then, they added an 18% gratuity charge despite having separate servers among two groups of 4… not sure how you can count that as a group of 8 when we weren’t even able to share a table together. Needless to say, I won’t be back.

Simply love the hospitality, local flavor and great food here. I was traveling through Lake Charles back to Austin, TX and a friend recommended stopping here and I am so glad they told me. I ordered about 4lbs of crawfish, 1lb or Gator Bites, a small Seafood platter, beers and tea. and ate it ALL because it was just that good. Next time I am in LC I will probably stop here again.

My family was coming from Lafayette(where great seafood is plentiful) and we all wanted great seafood. This is the ticket! We ALL loved it! I live here now(Lake Charles) I am going to have my husband bring me often! Too good not to go! Service was excellent! Thank you!

I just had to try this place because it is always very crowded… So I decided to take the plunge! We were seated promptly & they serve alcohol but no happy hour prices. We wanted to try the Crawfish but 4 lbs @27.00 but a bit steep especially if we don’t know how seasoned they are. The couple next to us ordered them and we were glad we didn’t order them because the Potatoes can on the side & not boiled with the Crawfish. We ordered Boudain Balls for an appetizer & they were mushy & «SALTY» but nice size. My husband ordered a malnourished piece of grilled Catfish &3 or 4 grilled shrimp that would be better suited for shrimp salad. Speaking of salad, it was part of our entrée & it’s served in mini syroform bowls… CHEAP! I had a combo dinner as well with unseasoned Fried Fish & Fries with heavily buttered ½ slice of untoasted bread & described on the menu as Texas Toast… I’m from Texas & that’s not Texas Toast!!! Drinks are served in Syform even if you’re dinning in… CHEAP!!! Hands down Steamboat Bills is the best seafood in Lake Charles LA!!! I wouldn’t waste my money on this very pricy hole in wall ever again!

The palace was just ok for me. Being from out of town I thought would be better but could be my fault. Should have had what all locals were having the boiled crawfish. Went with fish and shrimp and it was fine but bland. Would like to try it again to get local flavor.

Absolutely the BEST seafood gumbo around. My regular order is a small bowl of seafood gumbo and one fried catfish filet. That hits all the marks for me. This is a locally owned Mom & Pop restaurant that is super casual. Yes, your drink and your salad will be served in styrofoam. If that offends you, then go somewhere else and pay twice as much for half the flavor!

I’ve lived in Louisiana my entire life and I have to say this is the best seafood gumbo I’ve ever had! Also, their fried fish is cooked to absolute perfection. The staff is always super friendly. 5 stars!!!

We ate at Seafood Palace for the first time in several months. You have to get there early to be seated right away. My husband had the shrimp and crab gumbo, which was excellent. I had the fried tails, Crawfish, that is. They were hot and delicious. Yes, they serve drinks in Styrofoam cups, but we love the food and the fact that the attire is totally come-as-you-are. In a place where you may be eating boiled crawfish or boiled crabs, you don’t want to dress up.

We wanted to like this place, however the lack of our server ever coming back to take our order — we never ate here. She was too busy talking to another table about how she only makes $ 2.30 an hour and has to live on her tips, and how she makes sure to zero out credit cards when they leave her no tip … Etc. we waited 15 minutes for her to come back and she never did. The restaurant itself looks like a family owned/operated joint, which is what we were looking for. To bad we never had a chance to try the food. I’m not sure if it’s because we are an interracial couple, but we were totally blown off. Very unhappy and would NEVER recommend here.

15 minutes to get served drinks in re washed styrofoam cups, another 15 listening to the server complain about tips. As we walked out owners not concerned with guest leaving all of a sudden

Went to seafood palace for lunch with my husband… Ordered the fried fish and a crawfish pistolette… Fish was not that great, and pistolette was not good at all… I had been craving crabs and ordered some fried crabs… I waited until much later to eat them… Almost immediately, as I ate the very good tasting fried crabs, I started vomiting and having the worst stomach cramps… After asking a few people in the restaurant industry, they confirmed that most seafood restaurants and establishments bleach their crabs to preserve them and apparently they didn’t rinse the crabs out entirely and wow did I suffer for that… I was sick for a couple days… I will NEVER eat there again… If you happen to ignore my advice about going, just don’t order the fried crabs!!!

Heard about this place from a friend in Shreveport. Was down for a conference and had to get a bit of lunch so thought I’d try it out. Got the shrimp poboy cause it’s hard to mess that up and it was phenomenal! So many places try to put too big shrimp on the poboy so it won’t really close up. These were good sized but not too big. Perfectly delicately fried on soft french bread. Had the fries which were hot and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Just the way they ought to be. The beer was ice cold. Décor is very south louisiana informal — very typical of the ma and pa seafood place. Had seafood all over Louisiana and beyond including New Orleans dozens of times. This place truly hit the spot! No need to dress up but if you like good home cooking seafood for a reasonable price, this is your place.

Loved this awesome local seafood place… When you see that many cars in the parking lot you know you picked well. 3 of us split the crawfish and boiled shrimp. Most table of locals all had platters of crawfish but I think I need to build up to that! Started with boudin balls to share, so good. Best part was when we were leaving and I stopped to take some pictures out back where they boil the crawfish. The guy was so excited to show me everything. Just capped off a true local experience! So fun!

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. I think that have really really great food especially the gumbo, fried crabs, boiled crawfish and snow crab legs. The snow crab legs are seasoned to perfection since they put them in the crawfish seasoning plus they come with corn and potatoes. And for $ 19 the snow crabs are a steal. The problem is staffing. While the waitresses are nice they are always understaffed. It’s nothing for them to just take your order and then they vanish and you’re left sitting at the table an hour later trying to remember what your server looked like so you can describe to the next over worked server. They really should do something about this because I know the waitresses are missing out on tips. Great food but horrible service

My cousins recommended this place so we had to stop by. They kept telling me to get the Seafood Platter(which is fried), but I just couldn’t do it that day. I wanted crawfish; had to have it. We ordered a few pounds of that & I had a bowl of the shrimp & crab gumbo. The gumbo & crawfish were good. Our waitress was super friendly. I will surely add this to my list of restaurants to visit again. And next time I’ll get the seafood platter to go while I eat my crawfish. :)

Three reasons to eat here boiled blue crabs, boiled crawfish and gumbo that will get them a solid 3 star everyday of the week. The fourth star is for their longevity they have alway done things right I’ve been eating here for years and years this is the go to place for crab. There is really no reason to get the sides they will just fill you up and it would be wrong if you can’t finish the seafood start with the gumbo then go for the crabs or crawfish you’ll be happy I promise. It don’t get better than this in this town.

Awww mang! It was a tie between Steamboat Bills & this place. The steamboat didn’t have any blue crabs so we rolled on down to the Seafood Palace and I am sooooo happy that we did. The blue crabs are huge! They are seriously seasoned & boiled to the muthafkn perfection! Nice flavor with a kick of spice to it, aww mang! Gonna make it a necessary trip each time I head to LA. I didn’t really try anything else, but they do have BBQ or was it fried crab? Whatever it was, them hoes look delicious too! We watched an old man handle the biz on his own dozen of boiled crabs, while the old lady handled her biz on them fried crabs. I was like gawwwd damn! Her plate did look really good tho. My bf did order the boiled shrimp. Compared to the boiled shrimps I have had at Asian owned Cajun places, the Asians win. SF Palace could provide larger shrimps and give it a bit more flavor though, I thought it was bland. If I wanted to eat shrimps in cocktail sauce, I can do that at home. I don’t think I would try any other food here except for them crabs. Oh they had crawfish but I didn’t get to try them since they didn’t sell them by the lb & we we had plans on a crawfish buffet the next day anyways, so pointless. I knew they were not going to be cooked the way that I am use to, so I didn’t care for the crawfish too much. But we will try them on our next trip though. If you love blue crabs, they know how to fkn make them! You see my profile pic? Yes, that is the face I make when I think of them crabs.
