Malones has seen better days… never really liked the liver-y taste their filet has but it’s been the only place in town for prime beef forevs… so the crab Rangoon roll is on point and that Apple walnut salad is epic, plus I saw Julius Randle there once… the place is starting to look beat up tho, pretty rough… step it up Malones, Tony’s is kicking your ass and if centree pointeee gets its act together you’ll have Jeff rubys to contend with too… gosh I’m gonna miss u guys

I’ve been eating at Malones for years so it’s definitely a place that I would recommend to others, especially visitors who are checking out Lexington. I’ve had all kinds of dishes from the Malones, Harry’s and Aqua menus. It’s a nice bonus that you can order from any of these menus. Just the other day I had one of the best dishes I’ve ever had at Malones outside of the steak of course. It’s just a recent special but I’m hoping they add it to the menu; it is the Nashville Hot Chicken dish. The chicken was just perfectly spicy, tangy and crispy but not too hot. It came served over mashed potatoes with chopped jalapeños and pickles on top. It is my new favorite dish although I’m not sure if they will add to the menu. I would also recommend the grilled salmon salad as that is a great healthy and tasty choice. My only complaint at Malones is that they use too much ice. Since it’s the small ice pieces, if you order anything besides water it always gets extra watery quickly. Other than that I don’t really have any complaints because the service and food quality are usually pretty consistent.

Huge disappointment. I used to love going to Malones even though I always thought it was extremely overpriced. I loved their grilled steaks. Until one day I got a steak that was mediocre at best. I noticed that it was not grilled. I talked to the assistant manager and she told me that because their volume increased so much they now had to broil their steaks. Pitiful pitiful pitiful! Another example of lowering quality to make money. She didn’t even tried to fake the fact that a broiled steak doesn’t taste as good as a grilled steak. I never returned so I don’t know if they’ve gone back to grilling? What really then made it go over the top was I dropped by O’Charleys one day and grabbed a ribeye not expecting very much. It was grilled and way better then the Malones broiled steak. And it was also at par with the Malone steak in the past that used to be grilled. So here we go, another wannabe Lexington hoity-toity restaurant beat out by a middle-of-the-road chain restaurant! Joke joke joke. Another reason why if you can boil an egg, fire up your grill in your backyard and make your dinner at home. Better atmosphere, better food, and your wallet will be a lot heavier. Now, to the Malones owners, this criticism is on point. When I first moved to Lexington you made a good product. Go back to making a good product. Otherwise, you’re simply capitalizing on a pallet that does not know better which is disgraceful. And for those of you who go to these high-end wannabe hoity-toity restaurants here in Lexington, just to «see and be seen» …, well, all I can say is that you’re getting and paying for exactly what you want and deserve.

Luncheon of steak & potato soup plus bottomless Lexingtonian salad makes a wonderful meal, with a very reasonable price. Great service and attractive venue makes it a favorite!

If you like a OK steak masked with a salt crust so thick that’s all you can taste, and waiters that constantly interrupt your conversations and hover over like they afraid you are going to steal something, then here’s your place. $ 41 for a crappy steak. I was embarrassed to bring a guest here. It was close and had decent reviews. Quite frankly Texas Roadhouse has much better quality meat for a lot less. I will never go to this restaurant again.

I have never been disappointed at Malone’s. Most recently we had the fried oyster appetizer to start. The seasoning was wonderful, super crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Their signature bottomless Lexingtonian salad came next, and I swear I could have that alone and be happy. My entrée this time around was a filet with whipped potatoes. You will not find a better steak. The potatoes were fine, but not spectacular. Our waiter did a great job. Malone’s is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in town.

This place has never given me a bad experience. For that I gladly give them 5 stars. Every food I have ordered from here, every drink I have had, every wait staff that has served me has been spot on. That is a very close to being impossible, but this place has done it. I use to meet my friends here and sit in the bar area a lot to watch the games. They have great burgers, chicken, steaks, salads, and anything else on their menu actually. I do have to say I am partial to their smoked salmon sandwich, but their bacon burger usually wins me over. The bacon they use on on their burger is so thick, crunchy and so good. Sometimes I try to be a super good boy and order salads. Their cob is really good, but their salmon spinach salad is the best. I sometimes come here and just partake in drinks on their patio. Their drinks are really good. So thumbs up to the bartenders.

This place is not good and far too expensive for what you’re getting. I don’t even feel like talking about it more. It sucks. The décor and ambiance doesn’t even really match for the price. I just don’t get what your paying for? Shitty Steak? They offer to put melted cheese and bacon on my steak and I don’t trust any steakhouse doing that. Just don’t go. People will tell you best steak in town but they’re just letting the price dictate that. Just go to Chili’s for a better, cheaper steak.

I’m seriously bummed. I really enjoy Malone’s across town so we stopped in here for dinner. I should have known from the start. My son asked for a kid’s menu twice and the waitress brought a HARRY’S menu. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, which was good. The bread, however, was so hard it crumbled when I cut it and and hurt the inside of my mouth when I ate the one piece I ate. They brought the endless salad out and I got excited – I LOVE this stuff. But not this time. The lettuce was soggy and tasted old. Oh well. I still had my 2 filet Oscar style and sweet potato casserole to look forward to, right? I eat steak medium-well and told the waitress I wanted very little pink. When the main course arrived, I looked at my plate and my heart sank. Blood outlined the bearnaise sauce on the plate, and as I cut into the steak, it was obviously rare. I sent it back with a request for a new steak(after it was offered). The waitress came back to the table and said she’d told both managers and they would be bringing out my steak. Meanwhile, I ate my side dish. By the time the second steak came back, everyone at the table had finished eating. The manager arrived(finally) and asked me to cut into the steak. I looked down at the dirty(original) plate and cut into a medium-rare steak. The manager witnessed this and asked if he could take the steak and cook it a little more. I was done. No, not again. NO. I dont want something else. No I don’t want dessert. I’m HUNGRY and this is a steakhouse. If you can’t accomplish the basics, I’m not going to ask you to go beyond that scope of responsibility. The manager told me he was going to take the cost of the steak off the final bill as well as the appetizer. Of course you are! But $ 67 later, I’m leaving-still hungry and now frustrated. What a disappointment.

I and some family members recently wanted to convene for a momentous occasion. Malone’s was the only place I considered as a venue. I’ve never had a disappointing experience. Graham took exceptional care of us on this most recent visit.

Fantastic place! Excellent service and food. I ordered the sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. I am huge and loyal fan of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Malone’s gives RC a serious run for their money. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The atmosphere is romantic in a traditional steakhouse setting. Malone’s will be on the list of places to eat for everything Lexington visit.

Southern hospitality meets high end dining at Malone’s. We chose the eat here solely based on the help of the internet, and so we had absolutely no expectations. When we arrived, we immediately knew we had made a good choice. Everything was really nice. The staff was incredible– friendly, warm, knowledgeable, and outgoing. we felt right at home from the moment we stepped inside. The ambience was fabulous. The dim lighting along with the décor and colors used inside made it feel really comfortable, while also giving it that high class feel. While we waited for our table, we sat at the bar and were quickly served and cashed out, which was great since our table didn’t take as long as we had expected. After we were seated, we had an absolutely amazing time. I wish I could remember the name of our server, because he was legit. He had the perfect personality to be dealing with people, and made us feel like he was actually enjoying waiting on us. We joked a little and he was quick with his responses– like he was legitimately enjoying our conversation! The food was AMAZING. We absolutely loved everything we ordered. Also, I think I should mention the girl«helping» our server. While she wasn’t our main contact, she also was extremely helpful and friendly, constantly making sure our drinks were filled, removing used dishes from the table, and bringing us anything we asked for. She always approached us with a big smile on her face, and never made us feel like we were an inconvenience to her. Our table was always clean and clear, and we never waited for anything longer than we should have. This was definitely a perfect meal, and I would highly suggest anyone who is visiting(or even the locals!) to visit Malone’s at this location(which is the original location, if I understood correctly).

Where do I start? I visited this past Friday with my boyfriend and his family. Our server was fantastic. If I remember correctly, his name was Tim. Not only was he attentive, quick, and friendly, but he knew everything about the place, the food, the menu inside and out. He made great recommendations and did an excellent job making us feel welcome. As for the food, eeeeeverything was delicious from the bread, to the salad, to the steak. They have a pretty good beer selection as well. Go check it out & bring a sweater, it’s a bit chilly inside.

Awesome place, what could be better than fresh salad, a one pound baked potato with your choice of fixings, steak to order(your choice of cut and size) for me that was 6 Oz prime sirloin, Bob had the 6 Oz filet. Top it off with a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. Service was excellent, immediately seated, immediate order of drinks, fresh hot bread and garlic butter delivered before the drinks. Bathrooms were clean. Definitely a place to return to.

updating my rating to just mention they changed the recipe for the Coach Cal’s chicken and I don’t like it! :(The new one is okay but nowhere as good as it used to be. The menu description claims the pasta is lemon pepper and the sauce is a lemon butter sauce but the chicken is the only thing I taste lemon on now. They cut back on the lemon and I wish they hadn’t. I brought leftovers home and added lemon to it when reheating. That made it a little better. I may ask next time if there’s any way I can have it prepared the old way. Reminds me of the New Coke debacle from my childhood. Bring back the classic Coach Cal’s chicken!

My brother and I are in Kentucky for an unknown amount of time due to a family illness. I’m quite grateful that the city we are stuck in is Lexington! We have stumbled on some wonderful restaurants and Malones is one of them. Who would have known? It’s tucked into a corner off the freeway, by fast food restaurants and the Sleep Inn. It wouldn’t have been a first choice place due to the location and there are several options off the main drag… but this is a place you should try! We went for lunch and I had the salmon picatta that had a very light cream picatta sauce with capers and artichokes(it’s served with pasta but I didn’t want the carbs). I also got a bottomless house salad that was large enough to be an entrée. It was similar to a chopped salad and they mixed the fixings all together with the dressing. It was awesome! My brother got the rosemary chicken with pasta and I think my brother licked the plate!(And he is a very picky eater) I never eat dessert but the waiter suggested the lemon cheesecake with berry topping. Omg… Died and went to heaven. Wish I had taken photos! Maybe tonight! Ps we sat at the bar and had the nicest bartender! Oh his name is Jarod! Ask for him!

Im obsessed with their 1lb baked potatoes and Entrée salads Patio: great covered seating area with tvs to watch the game with a group of friends or a chill al fresco dining experience. Carry-out parking/to-go order parking spots up front for either calling in your order and picking up or driving up, parking at the yellow carry out sign and texting them your order without going in, makes things convenient when you’re slumming it after the gym or too lazy to cook but want a solid meal option.

We had a 1-night stay in Lexington on our long drive from Richmond to Chicago. By the time we arrived at the hotel, we wanted 3 things: 1) to get out of the car, 2) to not get back into the car ever again, and 3) dinner. So what does one do for dinner? They walk to the nearest delicious-looking restaurant, and that happened to be Malone’s. We were handed both the Malone’s menu and the sushi menu, which was a little weird, but I’m known to like random meals, so a combination of the two menus is exactly what I did. I had the Crab Rangoon roll(because I felt like I would be doing a disservice to myself and Kentucky if I didn’t try this) and the Malone’s salad. This was possibly the most unhealthy meal I ate all weekend(and I had leftover cake for breakfast on Saturday. CAKE.), and I’m good with that. Cream cheese? Good. Crab? Good. Fried tempura batter? Good. Homemade ranch dressing with a side of lettuce + bacon? GOOD. The manfriend had some sort of steak situation, Filet Mignon I do believe, and he really enjoyed it. It’s definitely a little on the pricey side, but the quality really seemed to be there, so I’m OK with spending a little more. Server was super nice, no one judged us for our northern accents(at least not that I know of) and all was right with the world. I’ll definitely go back if I find myself in Lexington in the future!

Malone’s is just seriously bumming me out in my adulthood. I have such fond memories of it growing up: the Tates Creek location was my very first experience at a «fancy» restaurant when I was 16(an engagement dinner — my teenage mind was blown!). I have had countless meals here, Sal’s and Harry’s as a UK college student with friends, family, dates and the like. My husband and I had even hosted a family and close friends dinner at Malone’s the night before our wedding. But the food(options and quality) and service just seem to be slipping over the years. I definitely no longer brag about it stacking up to Cincinnati’s Ruby’s steakhouses. Malone’s doesn’t offer my favorites any longer: the blackened tuna mignon, swordfish, crab cakes and fried green tomatoes(they offer sushi but neglect the surf part of turf? What gives?). Even the spinach dip appetizer has slipped — the portion was smaller, and served with uninspired pita wedges(does my memory fail me that they used to serve it with incredible, deep-fried, breaded lasagna sheets, like a luxuriously unique take on deep fried ravioli?!). I like the spinach dip at Cheddars better! We stopped by the Hamburg location last weekend for lunch. Among other minor complaints, our food took wayyyy too long(the place wasn’t busy, and a family that were seated and ordered after we did got their food before us); the Bottomless Lexingtonian salad was sogged and drowned in dressing; and our server was that dour, forcibly polite thing that makes you want to give his tip to the water glass-filling assistant instead(she did all the work anyway and was eager to please). There at so many other good food spots popping up around Lexington, or existing time-tested favorites when we make our visits, so I won’t try to convince the family to come to a Malone’s location since I keep leaving feeling disappointed myself now.
