This used to be our go-to spot for lunch and dinner, but since the renovation the service has declined severely. After tonight we will only be ordering takeout from this Genki, if even. We waited an hour for two of my favorite fried items we ordered to come, and when we inquired about it Isiah claimed that he brought it to us. Yes, we just made up that we didn’t receive our order. In food and beverage the customer is always right and to be disrespected in this way after being loyal customers at this Genki was the last straw. This wasn’t the first time we had an issue with Isiah either, and he is apparently a Supervisor in training. What a joke. If you sit down and see he is your server, request someone else. They need a better system to account for the orders that are delivered to the table after they are punched in. Too much mayo can be overlooked, but not the kind of treatment we received tonight. Kaua’i needs more sit down chain restaurants so we aren’t forced to spend our money supporting businesses who don’t care about quality or their customers. 20% off wasn’t enough to keep me from writing a review.

Service sucked and no one checks on you for like 10 min. My water needed a refill and they just walk right pass. I ordered garlic chicken and it came out cold and soggy it was so gross. I asked for another order and it was like they threw my old order in the same plate and served it it wasn’t hot or crunchy. You would think that with their renovation they would install the bullet train and they didn’t. So lame never eating at Kauai genki again. I guess you get spoiled with Oahu’s genkis being on it!

They’ve upped their game by adding more seating. They’ve started doing majority of what is on the menu, and put it on the factory line. It’s good because you don’t necessarily have to wait even longer. Still gets busy, but that’s totally expected. It’s the place to go for after events or just a Friday night.

I love sushi. I do feel that some of the selection before the renovation aren’t included. I will always love their tuna bomb!!! Area is too packed and small. Not a big changes on the renovation. Decent japanese food. Btw their cupcake is too price($ 4 each) ridiculous!

Was told 15 minutes wait time but waited for almost an hour. Took almost another hour for the food to be on the table. We could see our food being ready inside the kitchen window but it took our server 30 minutes to grab it. No food on the belt as well. Our food finally arrived when another table is gone(they came in the same time as us)! My friend told me that their server before was very nice and attentive. I guess you just have to have the right server.

Excellent selection, freshness, taste, and prices. Now I understand why everyone was waiting for the remodel to get done and I understand the lines at lunch. Go there.

Waited 45 minutes to be seated; not the problem I love the food so we waited. BUT4 servers asked if we ordered and we waited a half hour before walking out! Our food didn’t come and the two parties that were seated AFTER us got their food way before us. I ordered my daughter miso soup that comes out of the machine — they couldn’t even bring that! I’m calling the main franchise this service was unorganized and unbelievable.

THISIS A MUSTSEE! The most run down restaurant in the USA. every seat cushion is covered with tons of silver duct tape. the laminate is peeling off and broken on the booths. If they let the public money making parts of this place run down this bad think about what the kitchen and food must be like? I’ve been to some depressed areas but no owner would allow their restaurant to degrade to this level,

Sorry in advance for being so negative. Usually I like to look beyond certain things and only see the good side however… So it starts like this; we’re Genki fans and especially LOVE the spicy bombs, sometimes ordering up to 4 plates of that spicy deliciousness! Mmmm! So we’re spending the weekend in Kauai and I’m ono for it. We arrive at Genki Sushi and have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get in. Once inside and seated, we see a lot of empty space. WTH?! So we order our usual faves and their OK. The thing I had the most trouble with was this Genki was RATCHETFILTHY… and no, not just dirty from a busy shift! I’m talking flies around the conyeor belt, filth and mold on the walls, floors, ceiling… EVERYWHERE! Seriously, does Genki not have standards? My question is how in the world could this Genki get a «Green Pass»? I would NOT recommend this Genki! Disappointed…

I have to give this place two stars for customer service. The waitresses work really hard. As far as eating here, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. The food is good but to get your food that you order is a long wait. Although the conveyor belt is filled with sushi, salad, and desserts, most of them are things you don’t want to eat. But… waiting for your food to be made and it’s taking a long time, you tend to get desperate and want to take a plate from the belt. The prices are really expensive. My son took a cupcake which cost $ 3.95. It wasn’t worth being on a silver plate. If you like sushi and want to eat it for lunch, go to sushi Katsu @ tip top motel. They have better options, quality is better, and cheaper prices.

We eat here all the time and found out they’re closing for 3 months beginning may 1 for renovations which apparently can’t come sooner because as we were finishing our meal today, the biggest roach I’ve seen in my life walked out from the kitchen. The worst part? After it rolled on its back and got stuck, as we were trying to tell someone, a waitress beat us to telling her, and KICKEDITUNDERTHEFREEZER. No wait, it gets worse. It never came out from the freezer, and as we were leaving, my husband stepped on another one, the same size, about the size of a nigiri, 3 inches long, 1 inch thick, it had been under our stroller! MAJORROACHPROBLEM. Omg. I still have the heebie jeebies from lunch.

Only putting 1 because I can’t give it a zero star. This rating is only for customer service on the phone as we were so put off with the way they handled the phone call that we didn’t end up eating there. I usually enjoy Genki sushi in the mainland and even in Oahu. My husband and I were planning on trying there location in Lihue, Kauai for lunch so I called ahead of time to make sure they were open. Had a rude lady answer the phone. She sounded like she didn’t have time to talk on the phone and annoyed that I called. She also hung up the phone without any acknowledgement. Needless to say we will be taking our money elsewhere.

Greasy, simple, good. Staff is friendly, you pay by the plate(type). You can grab from the conveyor or order fresh. We ordered fresh. They accommodated requests without any problems.

The service was horrible this evening. We waited 20 minutes while the employees walked back and forth past dirty tables. Finally the Supervisor started cleaning off one table, but moved SOSLOW. The Staff in general seemed to be in slow motion tonight. Placed our order and got part of it. Finished eating what we received and after 25 mins., even though we told the staff several times that we didn’t get all our food; gave up waiting for the rest. Genki Sushi at this location used to be really good; but has been getting worse and worse with each visit. Even the Supervisor didn’t seem surprised when I was paying the bill and told her we didn’t receive the rest of our order or how bad tonight’s service was.

Sushis decent and convenient that its in the kukui grove center, service could be better, slow at times also and at times servers not very attentive, there were times where food on conveyer belt was dry or rice was hard… TIP: always order off the menu so its fresh to your table

I go here a lot. The food isn’t as authentic as I thought it would be, but still taste good. The service is great we go there so much many of the waitresses know our name. I think the only problem would be the service being slow, but if don’t blame them with that many people I would be slow too. But overall a great place to catch lunch with family or friends

This is my new favorite Japanese fast food restaurant. It wasn’t to my liking at first when I tried the one in Oahu several years ago. I’m glad I tried the one in Kauai. Service is awesome, but the wait is long. Tip: order your items off the menu so it comes fresh and hot to your table :) Must tries include garlic ahi, spicy tuna bowl, agedashi tofu, and soft shell crab!!!

It’s about 2.5 stars. It’s a chain fast food sit down sushi restaurant. They have tons of choices and prices range from less than $ 2 to $ 4.95 for a plate of 2 piece sushi or 4 piece rolls. Some are good and some are not good. If you study the menu, you will be ok. It was way to cold in there.

I so wish I was in Lihue right now… my stomach is growling as I think of how happy my stomach gets at Genki! On my second trip to Kauai, my family and I stumbled across this sushi restaurant while we were looking for the sandwich shop across the way. Now every time we visit Kauai(about once or twice a year) we stop in whenever we drive through Lihue for a «quick» lunch. The setup of the restaurant is pay by the plate with each plate usually consisting of an order of sushi or some appetizer. The more complex the dish, the more expensive the plate. At the end of your feast, the waitress will count up your plates, hand you the receipt that you pay at the register by the door. Most of the sushi goes around the restaurant on a conveyor belt(these are usually the more popular rolls and appetizers– edamame, side salad, inari, tuna roll) and you order the hot menu items and the other sushi rolls from the waitress. There’s fountain drinks available but the waitresses tend to be busy with orders so they are not on top of the sodas as much. I have gotten into the habit of just refilling it on my own and they haven’t seemed to be bothered by it. One year as a joke, I challenged my younger brother to collect as many plates as he could. Challenge accepted. After roughly a half an hour of constant sushi shoveling down his throat, he emerged with a collection of 16 plates. I thought it was hilarious. My mom, on the other hand, who had to pay the bill was pissed but it’s a story that we tell to this day. The plates are relatively cheap. As long as you are not getting the higher end rolls or dishes you can walk out with a bloated belly with a bill far under any other Japanese restaurant on the island or the mainland.
