Visited back in 2013 — quite a wait, but breakfast was tasty. Returned to Depoe Bay 4÷19÷15 through 4÷23÷15 — never saw it open during our stay. Asked barista at next door Logic In A Cup and she said it was closed permanently sometime last week. Also noted by two other previous Unilocalers. Contacted Unilocal and an official CLOSED has been noted. I feel bad for folks who drove out here specifically and there was no official signage posted on their entrance. If you want an amazing breakfast/brunch — great service, ginormous servings, and out of this world baked goods… try Otis Café in Otis OR. Learned about this from other Unilocalers and enjoyed it as our last meal before heading back north.

RESTAURANTISCLOSEDFOREVER There is a drive thru coffee shop nearby which luckily informed us that it was permanently closed or we would have waited. There is NO sign on the door saying it was closed. We heard many people had driven here from afar as it had such a good rating.

I’m not really a hot dog person, so that is probably why only 4 stars. I’ll just put that out there. The customer service was superb, food was delicious, and portions were huge. My daughter really wanted a hot dog, and because I didn’t want to just stop at a beach stand with corn dogs and fries and such, I depended on Unilocalers to take me somewhere yummy. This is a fun little gem. Because she didn’t want anything fancy, we ordered her a «basic dog» with chips on the side. Her plate came out with a hot dog(they don’t mess around here, so it was big and gourmet), lots of chips, and some fruit: strawberries, grapefruit slice, and banana. AND they didn’t charge me for any of the sides. They just did it to make my daughter happy — bonus points right there. I ordered the chili dog w/no bun(to be gluten free). Coleslaw was yummy; it is a nice light touch on the side of something pretty heavy. The hot dog was big and juicy, smothered in lots of chili. To be honest the chili wasn’t my favorite. Not sure why, but I couldn’t eat it all. In fact I could only eat it when it was paired with hot dog bites. I didn’t care for it by itself. So it was a good experience, great customer service that we really appreciated.

Great food and super friendly staff! I was flying solo today, as the rest of my family hadn’t arrived to Depoe Bay where we are staying for the weekend. I took a seat at the bar so as not to take up room at a larger table in case they got really busy. Staff insisted(in a nice and caring way) I take a window table because if I’m at the beach, I should enjoy looking at it. I obliged. Service was quick, my meal(bacon jack omelet) was excellent, and the entire place was comfortable. I’m going back tomorrow for sure. Think I’ll try the french toast!

Oh. My. Gosh. Easily the greatest place in town for breakfast. Not only is everything nicely seasoned to perfection, the presentation/plating rivals fine-dining restaurants. Born in Lincoln City, living in Portland, I eat out for breakfast often and Beach Dog Café is tied for my favorite breakfast place to eat at.(Bertie Lou’s in Sellwood is the other.) You might wait half an hour for a table– DOIT! —It is worth it.—

The walls of The Beach Dog Café are lined with pictures frames of dogs donated by owners from all over the west coast. The service is excellent and the food is amazing. I recommend getting a «fancy» omelet like the chili cheese omelet or apple bacon omelet that is accompanied by warm crunchy skillet potatoes and buttered toast. You will not regret stopping for breakfast/brunch here! If you have a chance, ask the owners about their dogs. The two large dog pictures hung up by the kitchen belong to the owners and there’s a sweet story behind their adoption.

Cash Only. Hubby liked this place better than I did. It wasn’t bad just not anything to rave about, at least not our breakfast. First time we came and they were kicking everyone out early which was annoying so we couldn’t get seated. I think that’s just part of a mom-and-pop place though. We gave them another shot, and would likely return eventually.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes. This is how my hot dog made me feel, and I don’t say that often;) Very friendly staff, great food. Very tiny café though so possibility of a wait I suppose – wasn’t one for us on a Thursday. Wish I would’ve found this place earlier in my vacation so I could have gone multiple times. Cash only.

Came here for breakfast and was pretty happy with the choice. I got the spicy sausage potatoes, which turned out to be pretty good. The breakfast menu had a pretty decent selection of different choices. I noticed a table next to us had waffles and they looked pretty good as well. The lunch/dinner menu looked even better so I’m excited to try that as well. The service was great as well, they were very attentive and friendly. A couple of notes, they only take cash and I didn’t see an atm. It’s kind of a small location and there isn’t a ton of seating so get there early.

We really wanted to like this family owned/operated restaurant, but it was just OK. Not bad, but nothing special — certainly nowhere near all the rave reviews of it. There is a long wait — but once you get inside, you’re confused by all the space between tables! If they refigured their dining room, they could easily add several additional tables to cut down on wait times! But they can’t, because it’s just the four of them running the place, and they can’t keep up with the demand. The wife/mother is the Hostess/Front Of The House, the son & daughter are servers, the husband/dad cooks. We never saw him, but the rest of them were almost literally running between tables and back & forth to the kitchen. It was uncomfortable. They were nice and friendly, but they just didn’t have the time to give you a relaxed, comfortable, special visit. And then there’s the food — which we waited quite a while for. Lackluster. I hate to say it, but I’ve had better breakfasts at Denny’s… and even Shari’s(yes, I said it). We’re dog lovers, and the décor is cute … although the pictures and stories of dogs who’ve died was very offputting for me. Sorry, Beach Dog. We won’t be back.

Oh man, where to start?! With all the good reviews, we were really excited and had high hopes… an hour after being seated, those hopes were quickly trampled all over. The potatoes tasted like old(and I mean really old) oil from a dirty cook top. Cholula couldn’t even cover up the yuck. The main dish was no better… to the point I can’t even comment. All I know is we left $ 25 poorer for two horribly disgusting meals and two major tummy aches with mouths coated in disgusting grease that sent us straight to the casino for booze to try and eat away the gross. The only positive to this experience was that we didnt feel so terrible that we werent able to muster up the strength to do the hibbidy jibbidy a few hours later. Long story short… NEVERAGAIN. Sadly, at least at McDagnals one only spends 6 bucks for a tummy ache and it’s only a 5 min wait.

This is our FAVORITE place to get an incredible breakfast in Lincoln City. I was wary of the dog theme at first, being that we work with dogs every day. Every. Single. Day. And we’ve met some insane dog people over the years of work. However, the place was put together adorably. In the upper front corner of the restaurant, they were playing«The Ugly Dachshund» on a loop. This place is packed. All. The. Time. No worries though. When Jesse sees you at the door, he will hand you the menus, give you the estimated wait time, and then give you a local arts/entertainment paper to read over as you wait. He’ll even get your order ahead of time– asking if you want coffee again(because of course, this probably wont be the only time you come in, and they DO remember their customers here). Jesse was our guy– the only server/host we knew to be here, but the manager was also diligently greeting and serving alongside him. They made an incredible team, and the friendliness here is so genuine. They make it a point to inform their guests that if you have children, they must behave and not disturb other guests. This makes this restaurant our soulmate of restaurants. I have a great appreciation for this. They also inform customers that they take only cash. I don’t care. It’s so worth it. The coffee is GOOD and strong and fresh. It’s a possibility that the cash only thing is because they’re in total freak dead zone. Zero cell reception and not a wifi hotspot in the area, so my guess would be that there’s a possible complication with the wiring, etc. Not sure. Again, seriously, I don’t care. Cash only? Fine. I’ll pay you in souls and harvested organs for the fantastic food and service.

Stopped in to find out that they only took cash. Unfortunately for us we were on our way out of town so we figured we would just stop somewhere else on our way. We actually made it all the way to Wildflower Café(great spot as well) but decided we must have Beach Dog. Back across town we go! The service was excellent. There was a guy in his twenties that was busing tables, taking orders, running food along with the owner who appeared to be expaditing and keeping the flow of the place. They were both incredibly friendly. The owner loves to chat about her dogs and wants to hear about any dog that you have as well. She was sweet. After a pretty extravagant dinner the night before I decided to go simple. I had a link of the Spicy Louisiana Sausage and eggs, with coffee. That sausage link was incredible and packed a good punch. Their potatoes are thin sliced rounds and were excellent, needed a touch of salt but I add salt to McD’s so I’m probably not the best to tell you if they really needed it. Also, the coffee was great and anytime I was about half way empty one of the two appeared to top me off. Beach Dog Café, I will see you again!

Two cons; Cash only and no online menu. Or even an website that I could find. On the other hand based on the popularity of this place, I don’t think the owners really care. We were there on a Thursday morning, and just happened to get a table right away. Other diners were waiting for nearly 30 minutes as we ordered, ate, and finished our meal. There is definitely a core of regulars who come here too, the(owner?) was coming by personally to great and serve several tables and I over heard a few of the typical mundane conversations that you hear in any good small town restaurant. The place is also pretty small, only about a dozen tables total. But this does allow really good table service with two floor people/waiters. Beach Dog Café is an old tavern on the side of the road just south of Lincoln City’s Taft neighborhood. It’s a bit far out from anything, although there are several art galleries nearby and a little«mall» area that has been through a few owners over the years. The building inside and out has been rehabilitated since I last stopped there a few years ago to the point that it took me a few minutes to recognize it. There is nothing special about the breakfast menu, just good solid food. Eggs, Pancakes, Skillet meals(ala Denny’s) and various meats(including bratwursts and German sausages,) and eggs. Pretty basic over all, and at first glance a little thin for a place«known» for breakfast. The stuffed French Toast looked especially good, but I bravely resisted ordering it in favor of pretending that I am on a diet. But over all the food was good. Nothing was too greasy, too cold, or portions too small. I ordered the pancake breakfast and enjoyed every single bite of it. The food did take a while to come out, but then if it hadn’t, it definitely would not have been of this quality. Interesting to note that they have a lunch menu of sorts — made up of hot dogs and sausages. I find this an interesting choice of cuisine for such a location, especially one that lacks a drive up window, so I wonder how that portion of the business actually is. Never the less, I am looking forward to being near Lincoln City at about lunch time so that I can chow down on the«Hot Diggity Dog.» Or maybe«The S.L.T Dog.» Although«The Louisiana Dog» sounds good too. Over all, one of the best breakfasts I’ve had while on the Oregon Coast. Will definitely stop by again.

Definitely a cool place. Came in at about 10 am on a Saturday morning and barely beat the brunch rush. We were told it would be about a 15 minute wait, and then we saw that they don’t take plastic. Friend FAIL — since HE was actually the one who got on Unilocal and found this place but didn’t read all the tips advising«cash only». No big deal, when you spend a lot of time in Portland and Seattle, you get used to that sort of thing. Why anyone complains about a place based on that alone is kind of ridiculous. Get over it. Anyway, we left to get some cash and returned just as our table became available. A lady brought us a local newspaper to read while we waited for our food, not that we needed it because the décor in here was just so much fun to look at(pictures of cute dogs everywhere!). I had the stuffed French toast and the friend had some sort of kielbasa dish with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. While I am not sure I would have waited any longer than 15 – 20 minutes for a table, everything we had was great — the coffee, the food, and the service.

Seriously good coffee. I am not kidding. Like magical elixir. We went for brunch, on a Sunday, during the kite festival and our party of 7 was told it might be a 1 hour and 15 minute wait. Two brothers in law and my father in law left at this point. This made us a smaller party. Our wait decreased to 45 minutes. So we didn’t miss them so much. There are maybe 7 tables that seat four and a couple barstools. There is floorspace for more but maybe they have a small kitchen and want to stay sane. That’s ok. Stuffed french toast(berries and bananas), bacon, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, eggs, and toast were super delicious. $ 40.25 for four of us. Bring cash. No cards. I liked this place a lot. I’d totally go back. Waiting is not for everyone, clearly, not always for us either frankly, but today this was the perfect brunch for us.

Beach Dog is an awesome little costal breakfast joint. I have been coming here for years and there is a photo of my dog Dutch on the wall. It is a family run business and I am happy they have been successful. I have never had lunch here. The good: The food is solid and they cook everything to order. My vegetarian and vegan friends love eating here. I had the bacon pancakes yesterday for the first time and they are my new favorite thing on the menu. I usually get the two egg breakfast. My husband always gets the spicy sausage potato skillet. The bad: it is a really popular place on the weekend and the wait can be over an hour. We usually will come early like 9ish. You can call in advance and ask how many people are waiting. It can also be quite a wait to get your food. 30 minutes is not unusual, but it is real food made to order. They don’t take debit or credit. Technically this is bittersweet since if they did it would likely be even busier. I wish they had Eggs Benedict.

Being the devoted Unilocaler that I am, as soon as I arrived in Lincoln City, I grabbed my phone, opened the Unilocal app and searched for the best brunch spot. The Beach Dog Café caught my attention for both the 4.5 star rating and the mention of «dog» in the title. So the next morning, my boyfriend and I stopped into this little seaside restaurant for brunch. It was a Thursday during the week after Christmas(so it was probably a little busier than usual) and we had about a 20 minute wait for a table. We took this time to peruse the menu and admire the collection of cute dog photos on the wall. By the time we were seated, we were ready to order. Then the wait began. It was at least 45 minutes before we received our food. For a small restaurant(I’m guessing there was no more than 10 tables), I was amazed that it could take so long for our food to arrive. It may be time to hire an extra chef. It got to the point where my boyfriend said if our food didn’t come out in the next five minutes, we were going to leave. But thankfully our food did arrive and it was incredible! Almost made me completely forget about the long wait. It was the best French toast(nicely grilled but still soft) that I’ve ever had. I loved the powdered sugar covered plate and the syrup was delicious. The potatoes were good but not as good as I expected. At least until I dipped them in my boyfriend’s gravy from his biscuits and gravy plate. The gravy was phenomenal! So what do I take away from this experience? Be prepared for a long wait but also be ready for some of the best food!
