Sadly JoeBox Grill has closed. The windows are all papered up. So sad.

A fairly new place in the neighborhood. I went last week and had a standard Chicago dog & fries. There is a nice selection of specialty dogs, but since it was my first visit, I had to judge it on the standard. I think that a standard Chicago style dog is perfection as it is, but the variety will attract others. The place is very clean, with two tables for dine-in, and the absolutely spotless kitchen is visible from the ordering area. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff was friendly. The hot dog was very good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but solid. Fries were excellent, and the kosher salt on them(or sea salt?) was a nice touch.

The hot dog is good, the everyday special they have is a pretty good deal. It’s a meal under 5 bucks and the hot dog is put together very well. My latest visit I got an Italian beef, dipped with hot peppers. I think I got sweet peppers, or the definition of hot has gone way down. Not to say the beef wasn’t good but hot peppers they were not. I figured if I am the only one there the order would turn out correct, but I was a little disappointed. The grilled chicken sandwich is pretty good, simple but still tasty, and I get buffalo sauce on the side for 50 cents because otherwise it would be too healthy. The macaroni and cheese bites are terrible. Avoid them. All in all it’s a decent place but could use some improvement.

Just got back from Joe Box. I recently moved to this neck of the woods, so having a place like this open up right around the corner is great! As far as «fast food» goes, with is good stuff and about as good as it gets. I like how you can see the kitchen(which is very clean). I hate not seeing who’s making my fast food. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and it was simple + tasty. Comes with onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. I didn’t know that it came w/the pickle, so had to take it off, but no big deal — just letting everyone know. The sweet potato fries were great. I wasn’t going to order them, but caved in at the last minute and was happy with the decision. I personally did take out, so I don’t know if they have BBQ sauce or honey there, but… that’s always a bonus on those puppies. I do like the fact that the owner is a Cubs fan and has the place bright and clean in Cub’s colors. My only idea for him would be offering shakes and malts… I know that’s taking on another set of responsibility, but would really put the place in another league. Oh, and — a bike rack from the landlord of this little strip mall would be handy. I will return soon.

Fast, friendly, and clean!!! The owner, JoeBox, made a grill cheese sandwich for me… it wasn’t even on the menu! The sweet potato fries were pretty awesome too. Parking is a little difficult but they deliver so that makes up for it.

Living right behind the strip of restaurants on Touhy Avenue between Crawford and East Prairie, I was extremely excited to see this new place open up to replace this old Chinese restaurant that had previously occupied the space. It just opened today, and we were one of the first customers. I’ll start with the bad. It’s a bit noisy in the small room, voices echo. Considering it was their first day, I’ll forgive that it took about ten minutes to get our modest order of some fries, a burger, and an Italian beef sandwich. However, once we did, we were overjoyed to discover how delicious these items were. Surprisingly, they also sold sweet potato fries with cinnamon, a rarity in Chicago. I’ll be a regular customer here I’m sure.
