I have mixed feelings about this place. We went through the drive thru on a Thursday night, and boy was it crowded. I’ve been here several times and have never seen it so packed, so I expected service to be a bit slow. Ok, I understand. After ordering, we waited at the window for probably 15+ minutes waiting for our food. When we finally got it, we checked the bag and realized we were short an order of fries. We went inside, and they were great, and right away gave us our fries. We went home, and my burger was pretty good! Smaller than what I would expect, but still a decent burger. The fries are also well cooked and salted. Overall, 3 stars because service was slow, especially for a drive thru. But the burger was decent, but small. Probably will come back.

So this experienced inspired me to make a Unilocal account. I spent the better part of an hour drawing up all the issues I had with this place, just to run out of characters. Let’s try this again, more succinctly this time: –I said no cheese, I said very clearly«hamburger, no cheese» twice, I got cheese. Upon informing them, I had to reiterate that I said that, and had to painstakingly repeat my order twice. –My shake never came – and I knew it wouldn’t because they were clearly working on it while I was away from my seat reporting the mix-up, but couldn’t get a chance to let the guy making it know. I had to go back and ask halfway though my(corrected) burger, and the guy wanted me to stand there as he made it while my food was out in the open and out of my line of sight. –Food was fine; burger was like if McDonald’s TRIED(fancy that!); fries were a bit too crispy for my liking and spilled all over the tray(eh, I’m a germaphobe), but nothing fundamentally wrong with them; the shake took the phrase«thick shake» to its logical conclusion and was unable to be consumed with a straw, but again, I suppose it’s supposed to be(it was finally drinkable from sitting in direct sunlight – oh, and the dining area may or may not be a design flaw. I’m not qualified to talk on that, but I can say that it was frustrating that the only open seat that wasn’t creepily close to a preexisting party was very uncomfortable in the setting sun on the west side of the building.) To top it all off, I got a coupon for a free burger for all my troubles. Now at this point, dear reader, I’d like you to note the date I’m posting this. I was there the day I posted this. The coupon expired January 31, 2015. Almost a year and a half earlier. I went to the counter to straighten that out, but the manager had left, and the remaining employees just said, nope, there’s nothing we can do about that, sorry. That capped this all off. That was what sent me here. Now I apologize if this review seemed overly negative, but a little bit of that is frustration with Unilocal not informing me before hand that there would be a character limit to negotiate. And I want to say that I do believe that the manager was trying, but 1) trying does not always beget success, and 2) the people under her? No. Nonononononono. Now I see an M Burger rep replying to every review here; if you’re reading this, I have two pieces of advice: 1) Quick. Before it’s too late. While you still have only six locations. Get in charge with the high-ups and get them to change the menu to accommodate for a build-your-own option, and/or a «regular» burger with all ingredients listed; 2) Quiz employees over the difference between a hamburger and a cheeseburger; if they say they’re the same thing, help them learn the difference. I’ve been to the downtown locations and had… um… less-frustrating experiences there that inspired me to go here. You have potential, M Burger. But so did I once. And now I’m spending my Saturday night writing an internet review when I need to be awake for work in six hours. Don’t be like me, M Burger.

Tried this burger place and wasn’t impressed at all. The burgers and turkey burgers are basically microwaved burgers for $ 6.00. The deserts are good.

The food is great! I would just reduce the portion and price of the dipped cones as they are just too damn big!

How does a burger joint survive next to a Wendy’s? Answer: BE better. M Burger is certainly a place that IS better. The quality of the meet is fantastic! They come in a salad style which I enjoy. The place is superclean. The walls are lined with names, phrases, and quotes. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing I wish they had was a kids size menu. The burgers are pretty big for my three-year-old. Oh well, I’ll eat her leftovers!

Got a burger and fries here. Ended up with the Hurt Burger with jalapenos. There were literally two small pieces of jalapenos in the greasy burger. When I opened the outside wrapping of the burger, the wax paper was soaked/falling apart with grease. Had to work at picking the pieces of wax paper off of the burger before eating it. I understand burgers are not healthy, but I also do not want my hands covered in grease before i start eating the burger. The patties were flat and lacked flavor. Glad to see it was loaded up with picks though… on just half of the burger stacked on each other. The other half didn’t have pickles The fries are fresh cut fries and freshly made. Unfortunately, the fries for some reason tasted like fish. Expected much more with so many other places around to get food. The two stars instead of one is for the speed at which the food came out. You can easily get a better burger at Wendy’s or Five Guys down the street.

If you’re upset about knock-offs, then I don’t know what to tell you, but welcome to the free market. If In and Out won’t bring a location to Chicago, then I’m happy to have something claimed as a knock-off brought here. Everyone’s free to their own opinions, but let’s be honest here, some people’s opinions suck and should be revoked. PS I hear Five Guys has a secret menu. You know what else? A whole lot of other fast food joints have secret menus *gasp*. In-n-Out’s really getting butt-fucked after having originated the secret menu. It’s about time these joints be brought on trial. Now to M Burger. This review is done so on face value. No comparison to In-n-Out, etc. Just a review of some fast food burgers and such, as it’s advertised. When I try a place for the first time, I like to order more than I can eat, just so I can try as much as possible in one sitting. That meant an M-Burger(double), cheese fries, and a chocolate shake(you may be thinking that really isn’t much, but it was because I don’t have four stomachs like a cow). The burger itself was solid. The pickles are subtle and not in your face, which I appreciate. The patties aren’t 1-inch thick, probably more comparable to well… any fast food burger joint(thin), and appropriately sized unless you’re shooting for gluttony. I ordered the double because I like to gorge and had read complaints that the patty was too small. Honestly, one patty is substantial if you’re ordering fries and a shake, but I wanted to stuff my face, and will continue to do so. The patty itself was fine. Maybe not distinct, but solid. I couldn’t put my finger on the sauce, probably due to being face-fucked by all the other flavors from the fries and shake, but was happy to have it on there. It included bacon which had a sweet taste to it(something like apple-smoked, or maybe they sprinkle sugar on it). Oh, and cheese. You really can’t fuck up cheese, and they certainly didn’t. Overall a solid fast-food burger. I’d order it again, but will most likely venture on to try their other burgers. The cheese fries were solid as well. They don’t skimp and one order was enough for me. A friendly helping of cheese with jalapenos on top. It’s a good combo, and I was sweating afterwards. Probably because I’ve developed a heart condition after years of avoiding exercise. The fries were thin and crispy, although the parts doused in cheese were soggy, ’cause…well if you douse something in a liquid, that’ll happen. Lastly, the shake. It’s ice-cream and milk. The shake tasted like chocolate ice-cream and milk. What else is there to say? I’m not much of a shake man myself, unless I’m on the dance floor, but it was a nice treat to have, and thick(much akin to what I look for on the dance floor). Again, solid. They have monthly specials, but this months special was key-lime pie, and I personally don’t fuck with key-lime pie. But to those key-lime pie lovers, you do you. If you haven’t figured out my opinion of the place by now, it was SOLID. Everything is reasonably priced. I’ll definitely come back and try other things they have to offer. I guess I could comment on the interior(Skokie location) since people seem to be interested in that type of thing. It was clean and had tables/booths. What the hell else do you need from a fast-food joint. Oh right, bathrooms. I’m sure it has them, but I didn’t check, ’cause frankly, I prefer to defecate in the confines of my own living quarters. And Luis, I feel disrespected having to scroll past and read your shit review. Who the fuck is anal about how you order and the wrapping of the burger? You just order the damn burger. There’s no secret or special code you have to use. The burger is wrapped in a way where you don’t have to completely strip it and hold it bare ass naked. Yeah, I’m calling out some random person on the internet who’s probably trolling. It’s fucking hot out dammit.

Thought it was finally time I give this place a try. Went through the drive through, ordered a single burger and fries. Have driven by many times as I shop nearby and there are a lot of decent restaurants nearby. Really disappointed and will not be visiting again except to try something made with ice cream. Fries were salty and overcooked and mostly cold, burger was sloppy and the bun was like mush. Tomato wasn’t ripe and flavor, well, there really wasn’t any. No beef taste. Quite a bad investment to put it up near a Wendy’s that puts out a better product in my estimation. Waiting to hear from you. Weeks later and still waiting to be contacted privately as they told me!

Their burgers weren’t disgusting but also not worth getting again. The patties did lack flavor, but their ingredients didn’t seem fresh. That one piece of lettuce in the picture is the piece of lettuce I got. I spent the other half of the burger without lettuce and a very old tomato. It did however look like In n Out burger but was not expecting the same quality. A lot of reviews bashed on the fries, I however didn’t mind them and didn’t think they were too salty. Overall the customer service was ok, just probably wouldn’t order from them again.

I have gone here twice and never again. I timed the driveway through which took 13 minutes. The burger had a nice soft bun and fresh toppings but the meat itself was terrible both times. Very dry, over cooked, with zero flavor. Not impressed. The fries were freshly cooked to order but reminded me of a cafeteria. I would get a better burger at Wendy’s next door.

Reminds me a little bit of In N Out. They do just a few things really well. I am a huge fan of their burgers. You can forego the bun and get it «protein style» which is the burger wrapped in lettuce. Last time, I did the chicken strips and they were just… OK. Every month they do a special shake. This month it’s chocolate banana cookie and it was DELICIOUS. Staff is super friendly.

Never again!!! This is a complete horrible knock off of In and Out burger. I felt disrespected by the level of the food and clear attempt to rip off my beloved In and Out burger with Mediocre food. Omg they copied everything from the way you order burgers to the way they wrap their burgers. The presentation the wrappings the lingo. They should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously!!! They even have a «secret menu»!!! Shame on you for not being able to develop a concept and just steal In and Out“s. The only people you compete with is McDonalds and Burger King. Way out of In and Outs League!!!

Ok the verdict is still out on the larger burger patties… they say that they are 20% larger now, but IF I had a burger here, I’d probably still order a double, since the patties are pressed thin/very flat and SEEM small because of it… But yesterday I wanted a chopped chicken salad and I remembered that M Burger, being just minutes from my house, has them pre-made, in the case right next to the register.(They say that they are made fresh daily.) So I went through the drive-thru and ordered one. Their chicken sandwiches also caught my eye, so I ordered one of those, as well. The girl on the speaker said that it was M Burger’s birthday, and they were giving away free burgers! I asked her what we could have, and she said any, including doubles! So I ordered a double cheeseburger to take home to hubby, and I again ordered an order of their cheese fries with jalapenos for us to share! I must say that the chopped chicken salad was great! It was fresh lettuce, cucumbers, corn and tomatoes, all chopped up nicely, and diced chicken, served with their house dressing which is a tasty vinaigrette. The box isn’t too big, yet it was filling! I could only eat a few of the yummy cheese fries, but that’s a good thing! As for the chicken sandwich, they have a few options, fried or grilled, and I chose the hot & spicy, just to try it. It was also delicious! I don’t eat fried foods often, so this was a guilty pleasure… the breast was breaded and coated in a delicious buffalo sauce with blue cheese mayo and pickles. I love it and would definitely order it again at some point. Lastly, the guy at the window was very pleasant. While we waited for my order, he actually made small talk with me, asking me what brought me in. I explained that I hadn’t been happy with their burgers and that they had messed up on my last order, big time. He was very interested and also very apologetic. He assured me that this order would be perfect, and to come back if it wasn’t. I only had to wait a few minutes and I was on my way. I am happy that this experience was better than the last, so I thought it was only fair to write another review and give them one more star.

I admit I haven’t been there in quite a while, and I avoided going there cuz of all the bad reviews it got. My sister had a gift certificate so we went. I had nothing to complain about! The food was great, the place was clean, the people were nice! I meant to write a good review a long time ago to defend it against all the bad reviews it was getting and I don’t go on here much so here I am now saying — no complaints. I don’t get why people didn’t like it. I really don’t!

I’m surprised by all the negative reviews claiming that the M stands for Meh. This was my second visit, but the first for the rest of the family. I ordered a double M burger and my kids each had a single M burger. The patties are on the small side, so I recommend a double. I would have liked some cajun salt or more seasoning on the patty, but the veggies and sauce added plenty of flavor. The husband had a chopped salad(lettuce, celery, corn, chicken, etc.). Kind of an odd combination of vegetables, but it was tasty and filling. It’s prepacked, self service. Better than you’d find in a grocery deli, but not as good as Portillo’s Chopped salad. The fries were good. Thin, hot, crispy. Again, I would have loved cajun salt on the fries, but the regular salt and ketchup were fine. The four of us split one order of fries. I wanted more fries, but not enough to wait in line again. Napkin dispensers were oddly unavailable. Had to go back to the front counter past the people waiting for ice cream just for napkins. The other tables nearby were really enjoying their dipped cones. I will have to come back to try those. Probably after my next trip to Lincolnwood Mall(pathetic food court there!!!) Four entrees and 1 fries cost us less than $ 25. Not bad for a light dinner out. Bonus: M Burger accepts Lettuce Entertain You gift cards!

I’m editing my review since visiting a few other burger spots this last week… Well really I am just going to say that $ 4.50 for a small bacon cheeseburger isn’t so bad… and if I am in the area I might stop back in. I gave it 2 stars before and moved it up to a 3. The inedible fries still annoy me so maybe it’s a 2.5 star overall… ============== «Original Review» First time trying the M Burger & fries with a strawberry shake $ 11. The shake was the best part. The burger is small for $ 4.50 but it did have some bacon on it. The fries are $ 2.20, small serving, and nothing that special, salty as all hell. I could only eat half the order. The only thing I can see coming back for is some soft serve but I have DQ’s a lot closer to where I live… Better than McDs or BK it’s not as good as Smash Burger or 5 Guys. There’s a Wendy’s right next door that might be as good… YMMV…

One thing I DON’T LIKE– RUDEWORKERS. I pull up to the drive thru, and first she is extremely rude at the window. Not sure what that was about. I had a car with three other people in there so we were just trying to be sure that our order was done correctly. She apparently didn’t like that. Whatever I pull up to the window and try apologizing in case I frustrated her at the ordering window. She just looked at me with no response. Hmmmmm… okay, with your rudeness; you didn’t have to get an apology at all!!! Needless to say, she was so rude through the rest of the transaction at the window that I actually told her I didn’t want the food and I PULLEDOFF!!! This happened at about 8:15pm tonight and she appeared to be Hispanic. Uh, your window workers are the face of the restaurant for those who aren’t coming in and if she is having a problem, or anyone else for that matter, they shouldn’t be interacting with people. Lucky for her I wasn’t in the mood to tell her off!

Probably the cleanest, cutest burger I’ve ever slammed. Much like a hot date you’ve been looking forward to enjoying and when that moment arrived of slipping off their sweet nothings, you realize this would be the most sterile of encounters… A cute chuck burger built into a soft, bakery bun. Immediately you realize that this ain’t fast food. The patties are lean & thin. Akin to the patties at Five guys burgers and fries, but unlike their offering which allows you to pile on the toppings(giving the ability to get full off a single), back at M burger, a double burger would be more suited to feed the average appetite.(Then of course, one could order off the«secret menu» for a taste of something different. There are also secret shakes with one or two offerings that change month to month.) Their shoestring fries have a thinness alike Steak’n shake but for this varied eater, I wasn’t much of a fan. If only they offered options like a side salad or celery & carrot spears, I’d find that a valid replacement. In the realm of drinks, its sodas, bottled water or unsweetened ice teas(two flavors, presently). Food arrives fairly quickly in under 15 minutes. I dined in and the nice guy that helped me with the order, also brought the meal to me. The vibe of the place is happening. Once Mariano’s fans start flocking to the area for refined grocery purchasing, I’m sure business would pick up for this new installment of M Burger. For now and until then, they would continue to vibe on to their lively dance beat. (Side note: I gotta say, I always find it odd when people say they would stick to fast food(Wendy’s, White castle, BK, Mcd’s) rather than real food. Really. you are so unimpressed with their food that you would willingly shovel more processed meats, cheeses, breads and shtuff into your pie hole because you find the food here, unfamiliar? Then do so. Btw, the next time you’re shoveling that so called grilled burger into your pie-hole, try finding out whether the grill marks are indeed, really, grilled into the meat. There are companies that produce grill marks made of vegetables which are added to meat patties to have that«look.» Fast food practices 101) I dig the principle of the place and the usage of real ingredients. Now knowing of a secret menu, I’m gonna look into ordering off that and seeing if I dig it. A «Dr Betty» or Salad style burger, sounds pretty good.

Yesterday was my first visit to M Burger, and unfortunately will probably be my last. Reasons being, I walked in and the whole interior felt very sterile and cold, you walk up to the counter, place your order, you then wait for your order number to be called. I ordered the M Burger which consisted of a beef patty, cheese, sauce, oh yes, and onions. And when I got my burger I wanted to take a picture of it however what I was given looked like a smooshed up mess. I also ordered fries, which I had heard through others were pretty good, but, I found them to be hard like a rock with no flavor. So to make up for this mess I ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae for myself, and okay, I will admit I was loving that… The front staff behind the counter seemed young and inexperienced and even when I sat down to eat this mess of a meal this restaurant associate/ child person came by my table asking me if I wanted her to wrap up my fries for me to go. No, child person, because your hard as a rock fries are unfortunately going in the trash can. So, to M Burger in Skokie I say this, you are overhyped without good reason, there is absolutely nothing special about your Burgers, your fries pretty much sucked and your child person associate got on my nerves Big Time. M stands for Mediocre at Best, avoid, so many better places out there, So not worth it…
