I hesitate to write this because I don’t want to share my sushi on fire with anyone. This is the best sushi place in America. Three Companies, Sushi on Fire Roll, 911, Pink Lady… I could go on forever. Enjoy America. Enjoy.

Don’t pay attention to the previously posted reviews. Clearly they’re rookies at determining what constitutes good sushi from bad sushi. I came here on a Friday night with some friends. We were seated fairly quickly. Our server put in our order quickly. We ordered the 3 Amigos roll, spicy tuna roll, and the spicy albacore roll. However, once the order was in, we waited for over 45 minutes for our food to come out. When we received our food, it was disappointing. The fish wasn’t fresh and tasted kind of like the kind you get at a grocery store. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back.

I used to live this place until I decided to sit at the sushi bar. After about 30 minutes and having one of our rolls come out, guess what else came out? Roaches!!! There were a couple baby roaches crawl through, had to ask for an extra napkin to kill them. The worse part of this experience was the manager! This lady, didn’t do anything about it, not even apologize. Never again!!!

Delicious food!!! Definitely recommend Ken’s special and the sushi on fire! I now consider this to be one of my favorite sushi joints. But there is one in hb I would rather go to. The waitress we had… honestly made the experience bad. She ignored our table, she wouldn’t let you finish your sentence, and she had this horrible attitude. Even though this place is close to my job, I would have to go to hb. Customer service is a number one priority. Food = 5 stars!!! Service = 1 star!!!

Favorite sushi place by far! When I’m over getting mediocre rolls elsewhere– this is my place. I would literally drives hours for the S&J appetizer! Some other favorites are the Halloween rolls and the White Dragon rolls. The dressings for their salads are always really delicious also. I would give 4 ½ stars if I could but I can’t. I only knocked it down because half the time the mango isn’t ripe in the Sexy roll. And if it were ripe– it would be my favorite. I really need the sweetness of the mango as relief from all the jalapeño and cilantro. With that being said– it’s still the best place sushi in Long Beach!

I came here for lunch on a Monday at noon and it was pretty empty — maybe 3 other parties there. I ordered their chirashi bowl from the«Lunch Specials» menu, but it was kinda expensive for a special. I believe it was $ 13, so after tax and tip, it was around $ 17.kinda steep for lunch. the fish and seafood were very fresh tasting though. I did not like the seasonings they put on their sushi rice — it was kind of fishy tasting, whereas other places use black sesame seeds and seaweed mix. I wouldn’t come back because I can get a chirashi bowl for $ 12 back home in Anaheim and that’s not even a lunch special price.

LOVE this place! The sushi was delicious. I got the carol & adam. 2 completely different rolls and as well as i got the stuffed crash wontons.(they were stuffed!) The service was excellent, the rolls were present well(pretty pricey though), and overall great atmosphere.

Pretty good sushi, especially during 2pm-5pm. They offer 20% off the regular menu and they also have a lunch special menu. Great portion and price for the fresh fish. I have to say it’s not the top notch fresh fishes, but the flavor is there. I like the poke bowl, charishi bowl, the assorted sashimi, and the 3 different rolls for $ 12(from the lunch special menu). The New York New York is worth trying too if you like beef and tempura shrimp as a roll. The 4 assorted sashimi was also fantastic. It rested on top of a different salad or something tasty that complimented the fish. The service is good too. The girls waiters are nice and always has a smile.

This place doesn’t need any help from Unilocal in my opinion — that’s why I waited so long to give them a tip o’ my cap. This place is usually very busy for a reason — because it’s so d*mn good! I honestly wanted to keep the«secret» to myself… but that’s just selfish. Don’t be scared of sitting at the bar, the chefs are on it! Freshy-fresh fish, loooooove their menu. Refreshing Roll takes the cake in my book though! Free sake by the way… how can you say no to that?

I was happy to walk and get seated right away. This place usually has a ridiculous wait time of 45 mins or more. We ordered the New York Steak roll(5 stars), the Philly roll(3 stars) & another roll that I can’t remember but it was good too. Service was great. Its my third time here and I havent had anything I couldn’t finish. I’ll be back soon.

Delicious!!! When you look at the restaurant from the outside, it doesn’t look like much. But holy moly this place had some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some good sushi! So that’s saying something. The menu is the size of a novel, so be prepared to come here on a few occasions to try everything. Come early because this place gets packed. We started off with some hot sake and some tuna sashimi. The hot sake was velvety smooth. The sashimi was beyond delicious! The cuts were nice and thick so you don’t feel like you’ve been cheated. They had that buttery texture when biting into it. What I liked was that the tuna had a nice, rich, red color. So we knew that it was fresh. I don’t remember the names of all our rolls. I think we had something called The Pink Lady, I think one was called Beef roll even though there was no beef on it, White Roll, and one of their other recommended rolls. All four rolls were mind blowing!!! My favorite was the White Roll. I will post pictures so you can see. Definitely recommend this place! Oh and they have happy hour!

Definitely my favorite sushi spot in Long Beach and possibly LA. Sometimes it’s hard to differentiate a sushi place, but I think Sushi on Fire does so exceptionally. A few reasons why: — Free miso soup when you sit — You can get fresh wasabi(not that green paste you normally get). Sadly, I’ve only seen this at a few sushi places. — Salmon sashimi is oh so tender and delicious. — Blue fin tuna sashimi(when in market) is the best — Small restaurant that is very welcoming and gets you in and out very quickly — Great variety on sushi and specials I’ve been here probably 20 – 25 times in the last year, and I’ve never had a bad experience with service or food. Great place right in the middle of Belmont Shores.

Went here for the first time last week. All I can say is awesome! The service was great. The sushi rolls ahhhh!!! Food was delicious. The one thing I had an issue with is the menu is super overwhelming. Way too many options! But at least there’s something for everyone? Took us about 20 minutes to make a decision. Ended up with the yellowtail supreme, the sexy roll and the refreshing roll– all of which I would order again. They have a nice sake selection. Also the women’s restroom was out of service so waiting in like for the bathroom was a drag but oh wellllll. Overall a great restaurant.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the Belmont Shores area by far. I will warn you that this place is small and will get packed quick. I had an assortment of rolls and have posted a picture below to give you a visual. Every roll was awesome. The rolls are fresh and very tasty. I’ve been to several sushi restaurants and this is one of my favorites.

Came back on a Saturday night and we won’t be back. It was so loud we could barely hear each other… and we were sitting next to each other. The place was filled with drunk teenagers. It was sad to see a Japanese restaurant degrade into a sushi-flinging madhouse filled with rowdy animals. Service was frantic and unattentive. It was a terrible vibe. None of the workers seemed to be enjoying themselves. It felt like they just kind of gave up. For some reason, the fish tasted worse too. We’ve come before on a weekday and everything was petite and fresh and tasty. On Saturday night the fish was too soft, lukewarm, actually, almost warm… so gross.

Everything about this place is right. I’ve been here 3 times and every time I leave I leave super satisfied! The fish is very fresh so the sashimi is excellent!!! I’ve had the 4 Corners which is 4 kinds of seared fish, each layed on a different kind of salad, and it is one of my favorite items on the menu. The menu is very extensive so I can’t remember everything I’ve tried, but I’ve tried a variety of things including sashimi, different cut rolls, the shrimp fried rice, soup and dessert; all have been amazing. Today, I tried the 3 company roll and it was one of the best rolls I’ve ever had: great tasteand texture, well rolled and excellent presentation. The place itself is clean, the staff is attentive and courteous, and the place is comfortable. This has become one of my favorite places to eat on 2nd street/Naples area.

At Sushi On Fire, I forsake culinary authenticity in lieu of chromatic artistic expressions that pleases the tongue as much as the eye. I am, however, talking about the Sushi On Fire on Main St., Huntington Beach. The 2nd Street, Long Beach location is a distant second, and not just chronologically. The menu does feature the same signature rolls and dishes. Creative creations span from raw to cooked, flatly-laid to neatly-rolled. On my last visit, I noticed the rolls were not perfect petite bite sizes for my mouth like the HB location so this time, I leaned towards more unfurled choices. **Sashimi Salad– tuna, albacore, salmon, white fish, octopus, and seaweed on mixed greens; fish slices were not large but fresh overall **Scorpion– tuna and albacore, carpaccio style with ponzu sauce and avocado; a pleasing dish with a generous portion of avocado **Dann Special– raw fish wrapped around cucumber, sprouts, and pickled burdock; the vegetables were hard and hard to fit in one bite, making this a textural failure Service was apathetic and slow. Our server was zombie-like, our food was as slow as a zombie’s gait. The fast-paced, energy-filled hustle and bustle of the Main St. location was simply absent. Sushi On Fire LB does come with one perk– there’s usually no wait to sit down. But the wait comes later when you’re burning for food and service. Food and service is also why this place, despite more available parking than HB, is not Catching Fire.

I was walking on 2nd St looking for a late light lunch, so I decided to go to Sushi on Fire. It was about 3PM and there was not a single customer other than me, so service was definitely on point. Lol. I sat at the sushi bar and the hostess even asked me what channel I wanted to watch on the TV(I chose the Food Network, of course. Ha!). Since it was still early afternoon, the lunch specials were still being offered. I got the chicken teriyaki bento with gyoza and California roll, which was very light. The teriyaki chicken is actually chicken breast, so it definitely was very lean. It was a very small portion of protein. The chicken breast was cut very thin, to my disappointment. The gyoza and was my favorite part of the bento box — very crispy yet not greasy. Yum! I’ve had much better bento boxes before, so I really just come here for the convenience since I live in Belmont Shore. The service is good and everyone is friendly, so that is definitely a plus. The bento box was around $ 12, I think, which I think is fairly overpriced for a bento box since the meal was so dainty, but it is Belmont Shore, so I always expect to pay a few extra dollars for location. All in all, I’d come back for another light lunch or if I’m craving some Japanese food yet don’t want to drive out of Belmont Shore.
