Ocean Sushi is the perfect sushi stop in the Melrose/​Malden area. The food is always fresh, restaurant clean, and staff friendly. Rarely do we go in and have to wait long to be seated. I think maybe a lot of people order take-​out through their online ordering system, but I haven’t actually tried that yet. I would like to in the future.
The sushi rolls are delicious and the environment is wonderful. You can sit at the sushi bar and watch them work or sit at a more quiet table in the restaurant. It is small and cozy. The décor is very nice and I always feel peaceful sitting in there during my meals. I have never gone by myself… the servings are what you would expect for a sushi place. The Chinese style food is also very good.
I have gone in for both lunch and dinner and recommend it for either time. If it’s peak dinner time I would call ahead to be sure there is availability, but lunch isn’t necessary (usually). I can’t wait to go back to Ocean Sushi soon!

This is by far the best sushi I have found in a long time. We just moved from Somerville to Stoneham in December, Ocean Sushi is already one of my favorites for takeout/​delivery. The online ordering is so easy! Their website is so helpful, it has great descriptions and pictures. They even have an app. The sushi is fresh, delicious and beautiful! There’s an option to get multi-​grain rice or brown rice instead of white rice. Keep up the good work Ocean Sushi!

Went here for an early dinner and really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The interior is so clean and comfy, I did not feel rushed to finish my meal at all!
My friend and I ordered two maki rolls and pan fried pork dumplings. The shrimp tempura in the sushi roll was fresh and crispy… So delicious! The sushi is amazing! It is also reasonably priced, which is awesome if you’re a college student like me. In addition the dumplings were juicy and crispy.
Unfortunately the only downfall that many other Unilocalers have also mentioned is that there is very limited parking but a 5 minute walk won’t hurt especially if it’s for super yummy sushi. Definitely give this place a try.

Food was decent. Ordered takeout for a large order and it was available within a few minutes of the promised time.
Nigiri pieces were large and priced affordably, maki’s were normal. Felt that the nigiri was a good value (decent size and quality) while the maki price was normal or high (vegetarian options should have been less money). Scallion pancakes were good.
All in all we enjoyed our food. We didn’t try any special rice options since we prefer traditional sushi.
This wasn’t my favorite sushi restaurant ever (reviews had me hoping for that), that still goes to Junji in Marblehead without question, but given that the other local sushi restaurants are not very good, this place was definitely worth coming back to.
Staff was very nice and efficient and parking seemed more than sufficient.

It looks a little uninviting from the outside, but the interior is actually pretty nice and clean and cozy. The sushi is excellent, we also loved the green salad and the crab rangoon. Very juicy and tasty. The sashimi was a bit too cold for my taste. The staff was very friendly, but the preparation of the meal took a little while. Nevertheless, we would come back.

Very high quality, über fresh fish. Reasonable pricing, big cuts/​portions. Nice room, friendly/​attentive staff. What’s not to love?
I liked ocean a lot. Their extensive menus/​specials are borderline overwhelming, but only because I wanted all of it. Only had sushi/​sashimi but the cooked food at other tables looked delicious as well. Smallish by stylish dining room and sushi bar were very comfortable. Pricing is comparable to other sushi in the area but quality and portions are better. Will be back for sure!

Love their $ 3.99 weekly specials. The sushi is always super fresh and delicious. I love the spicy tuna and Boston roll. They deliver super quick and make it really easy with their online ordering. Prices are reasonable and definitely worth the money.

This has to be one of the best sushi if not the best sushi I have ever had. The Snow mountain is amazing and the wait staff is super nice. Loved everything about this place.
Only down fall is the wait for your food after you order is very long. Wish they would have more sushi chefs working on the order. That’s my only hesitation about going again having to wait so long.

Not only is Ocean Sushi convenient (I live at Windsor) but it’s fresh, well priced, and the staff is great. I definitely choose it over Genki Ya, which used to be my go-​to sushi take out.
Their specials are worth the extra money — we’ve tried a handful and they don’t disappoint! Also, they have various specials and deals, which are great and keep us coming back (probably more often than we should be!).

I believe I got food poisoning from this place and suffered quite a lot for a couple days (I’ll spare you the details). Call me a fool, but the sushi was good enough for me to give it another chance. The fish was fresh (I think…), rice cooked well, portions are generous, and prices are about as good as they get for a greater Boston restaurant. I definitely plan on visiting again.
Tips: they have a weekly special roll for $ 4. Also, if you order takeout using their website, you get 20 percent off your first order.

The parking situation at Ocean Sushi definitely leaves something to be desired. There seem to be 2 designated spots for Ocean and a buttload (this is a scientific amount) of residential parking spots all along this complex. Super annoying — though this does not outweigh my love for Ocean Sushi. Nor does it really deter me from getting my sushi needs met — with the exception of that one time where I literally could not find parking anywhere and so I left in a huff…
ANYWAY.
The restaurant itself is on the smaller side — definitely cozy. The staff is super friendly. They just seem happy to see you there, which is always nice. The sushi selection is nice and everything is always fresh and delicious. They have a list of a bunch of super fancy maki that we love to try out. The tempura sweet potato and avocado maki is the bomb. I could eat a sushi boat full of that stuff. A+ all around!

I ordered delivery from here based on all the Unilocal reviews. I don’t always like to order sushi, usually like to eat it within minutes of the sushi chef making it… But I’m here in Boston for business, and I’m not good venturing out into big cities and finding something I want let alone finding my way back to the hotel afterwords.
So I ordered. I got the million dollar maki roll, the white mountain maki roll, order of salmon sushi, order of tobiko sushi, and order of surf clam sushi.
All of it was fresh as can be. The salmon was fantastic. They def don’t skimp out on the fish, and the two rolls were gigantic. the amount of sushi I ordered I can usually eat all of plus get seconds back home. But these rolls were big enough where I saved half of each roll for another time and I was STUFFED. Very impressed with the food.
Gentleman who answered the phone was extremely pleasant and there was no communication issues whatsoever. My order came to $ 49 and change, but my company pays for $ 50 a day, and I had already used $ 21 earlier for lunch. He had no issues whatsoever running my card twice, once for $ 29 (my remaining company allotment) and then again for the remainder. This was awesome because now I was able able to expense some of my amazing meal!

After being a loyal customer for about a year now, I wanted to update my review to say that Ocean Sushi is my favorite sushi place in the area. The sushi is so fresh– melt in your mouth fresh Just really incredible. AND… they sell their ginger dressing so you can buy a whole container of it for your at-​home salads. Find of the century!
My only complaint is that I thought that it was free delivery within 3 miles, but I always get charged $ 2.00 for delivery (I’m 2.3 miles away). Just worth checking into.

I always ordered from here whenever I feel like craving sushi. It is by far my favorite sushi place! They even offer free delivery if you live within 2 miles!
Since I never actually been inside the restaurant, my friend and I decided to check it out for once. We came during lunch hours and ordered miso soup, snow mountain, spider roll, and rainbow roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. Definitely satisfied my sushi cravings. You get a relax ambiance and good sushi! What more could you ask for!

I recently stumbled here after I visited my bank in Melrose and hunger came over me. I LOVE sushi and I hate to admit it but I have it often. I found this place via google maps and based on the Unilocal reviews I decided to try their lunch specials. It’s been 3x since my first visit and I’m just as happy as I was my first time. The sushi is delicious — my favorites are the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. If you order a lunch special, it comes with soup and salad — yes please!
The staff is friendly and their delivery is on point — super happy to find this new spot!

This place is the best. It’s not just because I live next door. They truly have fantastic service, extremely clean environment and great food. They make an extra effort to make sure you’re a happy customer and seem proud of their restaurant and motivated to keep it a great place to eat.
The soup and salad are a great example of their food quality. The soup is perfectly balanced, not too salty, and has great enoki mushrooms. The salad is always crisp with a mix of cherry tomatoes and carrots with really good dressing.
I’ve had a large variety of their entrees, including the tempura dish, salmon/​beef teriyaki, the chef’s daily special sashimi platter, etc. I’ve always been very pleased with the meal and love to visit knowing that whatever I order will be very good.
I think what really makes this a five-​star place is also the value for the lunch specials. Lunch specials, while slightly smaller in portions for some items, are very tempting when I’m in town on the weekends.
