Gold medal king cakes. We’ve tried them all. Randazzos(Nonna and Manny), Haydels, Dorgniacs, Tartine, Sucre. We gone to all of the specialty places. We journeyed from Slidell to Kenner, Mandeville to Houma. I’ve eaten my daughter’s weight in king cakes this year alone. I have a mason jar full of babies — FULL. You get the idea, we know king cakes in this house. Trust me, nothing beats this king cake. But get there early, because they sell out fast and there’s always a line.

Good pastries, horrible customer service. I was treated the same way I was warned they treat a lot of their guests if they’re not close friends. And yes: a lot of the cakes –are– frozen for an indefinite period of time before you get them. You can see them in the back if you look through the door.

Great pastries, super nice people. I love their baklava(both he traditional and the Queen version), peach cake, cinnamon rolls, and donuts. I go there pretty regularly to pickup breakfast and snack pastries for my staff. I haven’t tried their king cakes yet(they have them year round) but I hear they are among the best in the city.

Went in today after eating at Phil’s Grill. There was a decent amount of pastries to choose from. Skip the cannoli and get one at Angelo Brocato’s. Do get the cake squares, pecan pie and buttermilk drop. No prices are listed so you order blindly, minus a star. I like to know what I am spending. Didn’t seem as though pastries were kept very cool minus star. Good if you are near by and have a sweet tooth.

I’ve been a fan of Antoine’s since before Katrina when they were located on the Old Freret Street(current location of High Hat). Post-K they were on the WB and now they’ve move to the Metrys. The location is spacious, bright and smells delicious! The cases are brightly lit and sparkling(see my pics). The staff was nice and checkout was easy. There was a small coffee station so I’m not sure if they sell coffee or were giving it away for the grand opening. I sampled a piece of king cake(out of season I know all bad luck in the city of NOLA will be my fault for the next year but free pastry and I am powerless) which was delicious and bought a cinnamon roll which was light and fluffy and yummy. The other pastries were seriously tempting and they even have Russian cake which I’ll have to bring to my mom.
