Above average, very enjoyable meal. Satisfactory selection of beers, excellent selection of margaritas. Meal highlights: –Complimentary Chips & Salsa. Good. –Carne Asada Quesadilla. Very Good. –Ground Beef Tacos. Above Average. This place won’t blow you away, but if you want a cool vibe and are in the mood for mexica, this Purdy area gem will do the trick.

The guacamole made fresh at your table, the quesadillas, the cochinita pibil, the tacos decarnitas, the fajitas, the award winning Stephanie guava margarita!!! The welcoming staff, from the hostess to the manager to the owners and servers… Tequiztlan feels like home… and sunset harbour is the new Lincoln road! Great parking on the building as well.

Happened upon this Mexican restaurant on a Sunday evening while waiting for a table to free up next door at Lucali. We were pretty hungry to begin with, and the hour long wait quoted at Lucali didn’t help the situation, so we took a seat at the bar of Tequiztlan, envisioning a pre-game of some light apps and a couple of drinks to quell our growling bellies before heading to Lucali for the main event. Super warm and welcoming bartender. He seemed genuinely interested in making small talk, which was much appreciated by us infrequent out of town visitors. The menu covers the requisite Mexican staples. Tequila, tamales, tacos. While we pored over the menu, the bartender brought out complimentary chips and salsa with an unprompted accompaniment of table salt. My dude, how do you already know me so well? Salt shaker shaking on top of fresh and crispy tortilla chips is my jam. I ordered the salt-rimmed spicy guava margarita, which was more guava than spice, while my friend had a spin on an old fashioned, which she described as a drink that«will make you grow chest hair»(translates to an extremely strong yet classy concoction). Both cocktails were prepared well and tasted great. We went with the bartender’s recommendations on the apps and both of them were 100% on point. The tableside preparation of guacamole a la Rosa Mexicana was the highlight of my dining experience. The ingredients were fresh and the guac was mixed to the spice level requested. The platanos rellenos, 4 slices of fried sweet plantain, each topped with a different meat(chicken, ground beef, carnitas, and shredded beef), cotija cheese and sour cream, was also delicious. Our plans were completely thwarted as soon as the food arrived. First off, the appetizer portions are monstrous and can easily be shared by a party of 4. Secondly, there is no way any morsel of food was getting left behind… it was too good to waste! So the 2 apps ordered became dinner. A complimentary shot of smooth tequila to end the meal was the icing on the cake. We left happy, tipsy and stuffed.

Thanks Tequiztlan for great service. So here’s my story with Tequiztlan with a surprisingly happy ending. I went there with a party of three. Shortly after being seated and ordering I felt sick and by the time the food arrived I felt a little nauseous. Everything looked delicious. I had the sangria which I liked a lot and the beef tacos which I barely touched but I’m sure on any other day I would have inhaled with delight. My friends really liked they’re food. Especially the ceviche, which looked very fresh and a nice size serving. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff were so kind and concerned with me not eating that they came and spoke with us. We explained that I simply wasn’t feeling well possibly because of a long day of traveling and exhaustion. They graciously gave us a welcome to Miami discount and I would definitely go back to eat and show them this girl has a very good appetite. On an even better note… I think the my glass of sangria helped… ha ha! In a couple of hours I felt fine again.

I love this place, it’s very good Mexican food, and a large selection of tequila. The bonus, they offer lunch specials.

Really slow service outside, we kept having to call the waiter. The chips and salsa was good. Food was okay. There is some parking in front. Probably not coming back.

Horrible customer service… last night we were looking for a place to dine with out of town family, the place was pretty full, but not packed. We go in & Hostess pretty much blew us off right away saying that she had no way to accommodate us. My sis in law then said«all night» ??? and with the biggest attitude She didn’t even seemed to feel empathetic(or pretend to) or at least mentioned that we had an amount of time to wait, just said«I just don’t see it happening» or something rude like that. I was totally mortified, this is the kind of bad rap Sobe gets with restaurants. great… Now we had to scramble to look for another place, luckily we all went down the street, we spent well over $ 200 and gave business to another small business which was nice & accommodating for my group. The Sobe attitude is everywhere, one of the main reasons I don’t visit sobe much. Learn some customer skills, you are the first person that people speak to before dining! If I was your manager & I overheard you believe me that you missy would had been fired on spot. Owners, be careful, She’s killing your business… Im sure this is not her first time! Food Reviews looked great, pretty sad we couldn’t experience their food because of this hostess rudeness.

Tequiztlan has good service, strong drinks, a nice atmosphere and in general the food is good. My only complaint is that the chips and salsa are Not Good. Skip them! Save some calories,!!! But our entrees of chicken poblano, And enchaladas poblano(with mole), as well as the refried Black beans were good! There is a city parking lot next store. The owner is the same owner Who had the off Lincoln Rd. El Rancho Grande.

worst meal I have had in a long time if NOTEVER. This is saying a lot. Great drink choices but food was below hospital cafeteria food. Keep in mind I hate Mexican«cuisine» but went in with an open mind and the Bistec De pollo was fisher price quality. Rubbery like a trojan condom and as expensive as the hooker you pay to use it. YUK!

This place is my only go to when it comes to Mexican food on the beach. They don’t need to give away tequila shots to lure customers into eating here because this is the REALDEAL the table side guacamole is THEBEST in Miami Hands down The Puerto pibil is my favorite dish but I have them put the pibil on their nacho appetizer instead AMAZEBALLS the burritos are HUGE The tacos al pastor are juicy with just the right amount of cilantro and onion to balance Make sure you try their homemade habanero salsa CALIENTE! my favorite margarita is la flaca And you must try the tequilamisu-a Mexican take on tiramisu with– you guessed it– tequila If drinking your dessert is your thing Get the drunken Mexican Creamy cinnamon-y deliciousness!

As most people who love Mexican food will tell you, it is incredibly hard to find a restaurant that serves up really good, authentic Mexican food. While it may be hidden behind a hipster-crowded tequila tasting bar, the Tequiztlan Mexican restaurant serves up a very tasty sampling of in-house made Mexican fare. I enjoyed the Mexican Sampler plate with 5 of their authentic dishes delightfully arraigned on a circular plate. Normally, in a sample plate you get a mish mash of items slammed on a platter but with this meal each portion had its own sample container. The presentation detail for each sample was the same as if you had selected the actual item off the menu! Well Done! While I did not sample any of the numerous Tequilas or signature drinks, I did see several on other table to make me think to try them the next time I visit.

Coming from the Land of Tex-Mex(Texas), I feel that I’ve been exposed to A LOT of Mexican food. This restaurant was just so-so. The location was a little hidden since it was in the middle of a construction site. If it wasn’t for the crowd of people standing outside, we probably would have missed it. The interior was smaller than I imagined but the ambiance was nice. Mexican restaurants are always buzzing with great energy. The food and drinks were good, but nothing too spectacular. I ordered the cucumber margarita. I recommend it if you’re craving something cool and refreshing on a balmy summer night. They had a vast margarita selection. The guacamole was pretty spectacular. I ordered the tostadas and they were just okay, but I wish that I had ordered something more flavorful. The servings were huge, so you definitely get what you pay for. I’d probably bump it up one more star but the food wasn’t really that memorable.

Best. Mexican food. Ever. Chocolate in their tamale sauce? I had to double check with our waiter, Darling, to make sure I heard him right. Never had it, but apparently it’s the real deal. To me, it’s just finger lickin’ good. And made it just in time for Happy Hour! Great service and a fun and attentive waiter. I had the chicken fajitas(usually my go-to for Mexican food) and the boyfriend had the enchiladas(green and red). We both picked off each other’s plates and agreed this place was off the chain. Full bellies and a fuzzy brain, thanks to the $ 6 margaritas. We’ll be back for sure!

This place is great! One of the best spots for Mexican flavor in all of Miami for sure, plus over 100 types of tequila to choose from, including options of ordering flights at a great rate. These guys do an awesome lunch special M-F that keeps me coming back, I get lunch every Friday here. For $ 10 you can get a basic entrée, I get the burrito usually, a salad or soup, chips, and salsa. The burritos are PERFECT. They also make this cheese fondue dish, queso fundido, wow! Everyone I take here is impressed The staff are pro, and very friendly Love it

This place never lets me down. If you’re a risk-taker, you’ve got to try«La Hija de Guayaba» margarita. I’m hooked and I’ve been hard-pressed to find anything like it. The food, service, and atmosphere are all on point as well. The guac is a decent size and very tasty. The shrimp tacos and the fish tacos are delicious, too.

Very good guacamole. Good assortment of hot sauces. We enjoyed the chimichanga and the mole poblano chicken enchiladas. Would say the service is slow, but a fun place with good food.

Although the menu has lots of great options the soft tacos are quiet unique! Order of 3 with amazing verde salsa and pico on the side. Best part about them is they pan fry it just a little bit like a quesadilla. Guac is made table side, salsa is so fresh and the drinks are great! Try the black cherry margarita. The atmosphere isn’t that great as it’s usually empty but well worth it if you are in the area.

I’m not the biggest fan of modern architecture — you know, the concrete box and glass look. It’s too generic, too sterile and lacking character compared to say a nice Mediterranean home. What does that have to do with a Mexican restaurant you ask? Tequiztlan is owned by the same group as Rancho Grande(one of my two favorite Mexican restaurants) and is the younger, new money, modern architecture relative of my usual spot on North Beach. While the NoBe location is intimate and you can get the aroma from the kitchen(adding to the ethnic vibe), Tequiztlan is a long rectangular space, Sure, my waitress came by a couple of times to check on me and the chips and salsa have the same spicy kick as the original Rancho. Of course the Fried Ice Cream is a must have(damn the calories and go to the gym the next day). However, part of the charm of ethnic restaurants is being positively intrigued and asking about one of the smells coming from the kitchen hence trying that dish. That being said, my chicken burrito could have been better. The flour tortilla was a little crispier than how I’m accustomed to from North Beach and was a little lacking in flavor. Thank goodness I had some of the spicy salsa from the chips left over. I think for now I’ll keep on making the drive to the North Beach spot.
