This has to be my favorite sushi restaurant in Miami. I love the special fried rice and the dragon roll. The portions are very generous and prices aren’t bad at all. The place itself needs a makeover and I don’t particularly like that shopping center for many reasons but once I eat there I forget about the location! Lol. Anyway, I come here often and almost never dissapointed. Spicy mayo is a must with the special fried rice.

Everything was so delicious! I sat at the sushi bar, which was clean and comfortable. For starters, I went for the Wonton soup, and without a doubt it’s the best Wonton soup I have had thus far. It was followed by the Kamakazi Roll, I went for the half. Bad idea… It was so good that I stayed wanting more. While I was sitting at the sushi bar, each roll that kept being put on the counter to deliver to tables was mouth watering. I want to try them all. The location is convenient, plethora of parking available. If you are looking for some yummy fresh sushi, this spot won’t disappoint. Oh, and make sure you try the Wonton soup!

This restaurant satisfied my hibachi cravings. However, this place can definetly benefit from some cleaning and decoration. The sushi was good and customer service great. The hibashi cook went a little bit overboard with the butter making me regret every bite afterwards.

Hubby and I always come here for sushi. We had some time today for a long awaited lunch date and quickly decided on Ruson. We had Miso soup and ordered a Sapporo and Heineken. We sat at the bar where we love to eat since we always get the most amazing service and attention. I ordered the I love Lucy and he ordered the Four Way roll. Both were fresh and so beautifully made by Lith! We ended up trying a kyro roll… I think it was called that. It was a wrap from cucumber… Amazing and refreshing! Thank you Ruson for never disappointing us! You guys are the best!!! Keep it up and see you soon!

Another Kendall staple!(For me at least) Ruson is very special to me because it’s the spot where I asked my now wife to first be my girlfriend. Apart from that, they also have really, really good food. They offer both hibachi and regular dining, which are both great. The main reason Ruson is one of my favorites is because they have one thing that literally does not taste as good anywhere else. Their eel sauce is off the chain. I don’t know what they put in it but it has to have some kind of addictive, magical and mystic secret ingredient because I can not get enough of it. If you swing by, definitely ask for extra eel sauce. My two favorite rolls to order are the I Love Lucy Roll and the Kamikaze Roll. My wife and I usually order both and split them. A trip to Ruson also wouldn’t be complete without their amazing special fried rice. Fellas, if you have a possible significant other you really, really like, ask them to go steady at this restaurant and you might end up marrying them one day!

My favorite sushi in west Kendall. This place is incredible. The sushi pieces are ginormous and well worth the price you pay. The service is okay, I’ll excuse it because they are always busy. Nonetheless, I will always go back to this place for sushi.

Very good sushi. Probably the best spicy tuna handroll I’ve had. Would like to try the hibachi.

I had eaten here before and remember it being really good quite some time ago. So we arrive and we wait for quite a while for them to get the table filled since apparently they didn’t want to start without a full table. After awhile they bring all the materials and start with the rice. They then decide to move people over from another table and squeeze them into ours. Our rice was already almost done and since new people were added they felt it was okay to just bring out fully prepared fried rice and force the chef to mix it with ours. He was refusing saying it wouldn’t taste the same but the waitress insisted and dumped it on the hibachi both us and two other guests were off put by this. After twenty mins waiting for the rice to cook the chef keeps calling people over to check out the burners because it was not heating up very much and asked to move but the waitress told him to just stick it out and it’ll just mean the food will take longer to cook so he hesitated and continued. Finally it stops working completely and were asked to change tables. They finish up the meal and we ask for our check. No apology for the moving around, gross rice, or unprofessional of the waiter. We figured fine scale back gratuity to show the distaste they left in our mouth but no our party of two was automatically charged 18% gratuity. If it wasn’t for feeling bad that chef had to deal with these incompetent employees we would’ve walked out way sooner.

The Kamikaze roll is to DIE for, even if it is WAY too expensive. Everything here is actually too expensive, and there’s horrible service. The stars are for the roll.

Garlic butter… Check! Hibachi style dining with a sushi bar. The filet mignon is always excellent here and they have the best ginger salad in town(dressing similar to Miyako’s in South Miami.) Sushi is also very good at Ruson. Note: Lunch specials are to be taken advantage of!

I’ve tried RA Sushi, Sushi Samba, Sushi Saki and I’ve never tasted anything like the Kamikaze or I Love Lucy roll from Ruson’s. I’ve been living in Miami for 21 years now so I know the spots, so far I’m happy to say that this place is my favorite. I’m not biased because it’s 2 miles or less from me, I will travel far for good sushi and it’s just a bonus that it’s close to me. I’ve been here so many times and they are consistent with the quality of sushi, I once had a really bad experience here though. I swallowed a wasabi ball because I wanted to see what would happen… I didn’t think that one all the way through. What can I say, I like to live life on the edge. If you love sushi and are smart enough to avoid putting spicy green balls in your mouth then you’ll have a memorable experience here.

Small little restaurant located in Kendall drive. Modest and old décor, service is a little slow but their Sushi is delicious! It’s been only my second time eating at this place and I already have 2 favorite sushi rolls, the Kamikaze and the I love Lucy… they also have Teppanyaki in the other side of the restaurant but I haven’t tried it yet. So far my experience has been really good and the sushi amazing.

Always a pleasure visiting Ruson! My hubby and I went for a quick lunch… Walked in, sat at the sushi bar and were greeted right away. The service is always the best. We had a great conversation about fishing and before we knew it, our«I love lucy» rolls and sashimi sampler were sitting in front of us! The rolls are always fresh and delicious! Cant wait to go back… check out the pics to see how good it was!!! Great staff and food!!!

Sooooo overpriced. The cost compared to the value is just so far off that it really distracts from the enjoyment. The Hibachi experience is nice but uninspired. The flavors are okay but not amazing. The service is pleasant but slow. The décor is sloppy and dated. The only thing that is first rate here will be you bill. Lots of better options.

Jimmy, the manager, is awesome with my kids. Matchy and the rest of the cooks are so entertaining. The wait staff is knowledgable and friendly. The food is great! What more can you ask for? Well, if it’s your birthday, you get the disco ball spinning and the staff singing. Just a great place for the family!

Been here many times, but we were sat at a corner(three people in a cramped space) next to a family with 2 small children(love kids, but not crying ones at dinner); wife had to sit on far side of corner– very uncomfortable. Asked server if we could be moved to another area, she said no; I mentioned the open table by entrance, she brushes it off as the toddler cries. We got up and left. Been here for years– this was the worst initial service we’ve ever had. Moral: look at the tables FIRST to see if they can accommodate you comfortably; apparently comfort of diners is not a priority once you’ve been seated.

I came a few years ago, and didn’t like it(smelly, food was meh). We usually do bonsai or moon Thai but family wanted to change it up. Restaurant: old with small funky smell. Bathroom filled with boxes from equipment. Can use a complete remodel. Food: edamame(ok) mom’s white wine — skimped on quantity served, think 1⁄3 of glass, if not less. «Caliente» roll was disgusting — hard, chewy, cold, list goes on. Lucy roll was pretty good, though very large to fit in anyones’s mouth — could have used less rice. The ONE highlight of the meal was the shrimp fried rice, it was perfectly cooked and tasted very good. Service: just ok. They took a while to take our order initially. Also, when we told waitress about the caliente roll being cold/hard/stale/tasteless, she said that’s just the way that fish is. ??? Not a place I will return to. The hibachi tables looked as if they were enjoying their meal, but still, local smells like old urine.

If you live in the southwest Kendall area, this is a must go location. The staff is super friendly. They always make time and go the extra mile to entertain my son. The look of the restaurant is a cross between Japanese steakhouse and local Chinese restaurant. It definitely has a very kitschy vibe, but that is part of its local charm. Much has been posted about the sushi and I fully agree. Always fresh and the flavors are well balanced. The Ruson roll is my go to roll. It has Shrimp tempura, Krab, asparagus and avocado. Sometimes I ask for it with just regular cooked shrimp rather than tempura battered. I feel better about myself and it tastes just as good. For my family, the sushi is a bonus because the real reason we go to Ruson is for the teppanyaki. Always delicious, though the portions are a bit small for the price. Our steak is always tender and cooked to order. The seafood is fresh and and everything is always well seasoned. Veggies are usually served crisp and not like limp noodles. Rather than the usual onion soup broth, Ruson’s dinner comes with miso soup. The onion soup is available upon request. My son’s favorite part is that they still have a real fire show on the table.

I was beyond excited to stumble upon this gem since moving to Kendal. My number one place I always head to is Bangkok city on bird road and swear it’s the best sushi on the planet. But sometimes you don’t wanna drive that far. So I settled for this, but was beyond excited to see the same menu as my savior sushi place Bangkok! Their sister restaurant omgggggggg my life is complete! Now what to get you need to have be super Tuna, I love Lucy, and of course Miami Heat, but here’s he thing ask for it with the crunchy stuff on top! So happy to have come across this

Top notch sushi and hibachi grill conveniently located in the kendall area! We frequent Ruson for our sushi fix, here is what we love and order just about every time(we are so boring): * house salad with ginger dressing(yum) * I love Lucy roll — huge roll with fried shrimp, avocado, cream cheese and topped with lots of sinful tempura crunch $ 16.95 but well worth it! * Ruson Roll– how bad can it be if it’s the house specialty? Tempura shrimp, asparagus, cream cheese drizzled with spicy mayo and eel sauce $ 11.95. I ask for extra spicy mayo and eel sauce on the side for added dipping fun. * Chicken Fried Rice– this is just delicious and it’s the best of both worlds(hibachi and sushi) so if you can’t make a decision like us then have both! We ask for the white sauce/shrimp sauce from the hibachi side and drizzle that heavenly stuff on our rice. Makes for delicious leftovers as well! $ 9.95 We usually are too stuffed at this point to order dessert but have been known to take an order of Thai donuts home with us! Whatever you order you can’t go wrong with Ruson!

This place never disappoints. The I love Lucy roll is delicious! Last night we noticed that a lot of people were ordering the volcano roll. I’ll definitely have to try it next time we go. My husband and I have been faithful to Ruson for many, many years. The place could use some updating, and the disco balls/loud music/flickering lights when singing happy birthday can get really annoying if you go on a day when they have several birthdays(which was the case for us last night). The fried ice cream was okay, but could’ve used more ice cream — it was less than a scoop, so we were fighting over the good part the whole time. The tuna tataki was served ice cold — which I loooooove. They have gotten pretty pricey compared to other places. I rather go to Sushi Maki and pay $ 75 for a «nicer» dinner than what I got at Ruson.

I like most things about Ruson. They used to hold the #1 spot in my heart for Sushi but recently lost their place to Fujiya mostly due to the experiences at both places when compared. The folks at Fujiya are far far nicer and more attentive. I’ve been ignored and/or forgotten at the counter when picking up an order — a few times. The new rule about having to imprint your credit card is ludicrous. The bathroom is raggedy and dirty. Raggedy is understandable for older places, but there is not excuse for it being dirty. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine! Both Ruson and Fujiya are located on the South side of Kendall Drive(SW88 Street) and just West of 137 Avenue. The shopping centers are oddly divided. If going to Ruson, enter through the Publix entrance from 88th. You’ll find it to the right of Broadway Bagels. Ruson is a large space with lots of tables, barstools are the sushi bar and even Hibachi tables. Folks usually dine at those for special events, I’ve noticed. Especially when they play the«Happy Birthday» song over the speakers. LOL I like Ruson’s House Salad with Orange ginger dressing. I think its my favorite anywhere. It comes with plenty of dressing on top and the veggies are always cold and crisp. A big wedge of tomato adds the perfect amount of moisture. I also enjoy the Plum wine — but it’s really the same or about the same anywhere you go. I’ve tried their fried rice and it was gross. The pool of oil on the bottom of the take out container was something I had never seen before. I held back the rice and poured the oil into the trash when I got home. I’d say, stick to the sushi rolls here. If I go to Ruson, I usually keep it simple and order the JB roll and a house salad. I’ve had some of their other specialty rolls but none were memorable. I do remember my bf having a fried JB roll. I had a couple pieces and they had entirely too much batter. Neither one of us liked it. I suppose I’ll be back for simple items or if it is outside of Fujiya’s business hours.

Probably some of the best sushi you can eat in this city for your money. This place is no hype just walk up to the sushi bar and watch the masters at work. My favorite is the Miami Heat roll, others are I love lucy and Eel tempura. They also have Tepanyaki if you want fried rice but the sushi is where its at. It’s always so fresh, the staff always nice and attentive. For birthdays they do a silly light show that’s very amusing. I will even go as far as to say take a drive all the way to west kendall for this sushi because it’s a gem. But if you can’t make it out here they also have a sister location by the name of Bangkok City with great sushi as well.

Hands down my favorite sushi place, not only because of the quality but the quantity of their rolls! The family friendly service cherry tops my dining experience as well! Sit at the sushi bar and you’ll find their chefs must’ve been comedians in their past life cause they chat up a storm just enough to entertain you and your sake bomb dates! My friends and I were STARVING and went all out by ordering three sushi rolls, a chicken pad Thai, and volcano chicken. We were very pleased with the timing between our dishes! First, our sushi came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Jungle boy: if you’re a fan of salmon skin, eel, and are very fond of having fruit in your sushi, you’ll enjoy this! Slightly crunchy salmon skin with banana and eel. Since the eel is already sweet due to the eel sauce drizzled over the roll, the banana adds an extra hint of sweetness. Hot and sexy roll: a special that is not in the menu but posted on the white board beside the bar. shrimp tempura, avocado, asparagus, cucumber, and tempura flakes poured on top to add texture! FLAWLESS. I love Lucy: a fan favorite that will never get old. Shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, imitation crab, and tempura flakes doused over the roll with spicy mayo and eel sauce drizzled atop of it. 10 minutes after we devoured the rolls, our Thai dishes came! Dining timing at its finest since we barely had any room on our table for more, but since we had already finished the sushi, our sever was able to clear those plates to make room for the entrees. Chicken volcano: this is the best sweet chili sauce you will ever encounter for Thai! If you have a palette for spicy… Ask for medium because it’s the ideal blend where the chili is hot enough to sip water after each bite, but at the same time does not over power the sweet chili flavor. This dish is an explosion in your mouth when eaten with white rice. Pad Thai: BESTPADTHAIINTOWN! It’s so hard to finds restaurant where pad Thai is made correctly but I’m not surprised that Ruson has theirs on lock, especially when their kitchen chefs are Thai. :) they also serve the peanuts on the side, which is very considerate for consumers who are allergic but aren’t aware of the fact that this dish is served with peanuts. Sprinkle them on top of the pad Thai and squeeze a lemon wedge to bring out the flavor!
