Five Watt is known for its specialty coffees, but they do have standard coffee and espresso drinks. their specialty coffees are definitely not standard coffee drinks – if you’re looking for a coffee flavor, go with their run-of-the-mill options. If you’re looking to try something unique but has some caffeine in it, try the DeVille: iced coffee with fizzy water, cherry syrup, & cherry bitters with a smokey flavor. It didn’t taste like a coffee(it was somewhat sweet and did taste a lot like cherry) but it was an interesting and unique experience. Baristas are also very friendly and can help you decide what drink to get if you give them an idea of what type of flavor and/or experience you’re looking for.

First time trying Five Watt Coffee – I would give it 4 stars for its atmosphere, cute decorations, fun music, and spacious sitting to study/chat. I tried their KungFu Generation-which was refreshing and tasted just like matcha tea. This place has a lot of potential, and I hope to return to try their other menus!

Was in town for a wedding and needed some good coffee. Got a large iced latte, as did my wife. It was top notch – smooth, creamy, nice finish, and all with a strong espresso flavor. Barista was real chill bro, too. We were just in and out, but it was a cool set up. Good to study and chill. You know, if you’re into doing those things at a coffee shop.

Great specialty coffees. We stopped by early on a Saturday morning and tried some of their specialty coffees. Among my favorites was the Kingfield, and I generally preferred their espresso drinks over the cold press drinks, but they were both tasty and flavorful. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a nice coffee in the area.

Great coffee, pretty small space and not real clear when you walk in where to order. But the shop as a great vibe and the coffee was amazing! Good on street parking.

Five Watt has taken specialty espresso drinks and taken them to the next level. I have to admit that I was very skeptical at first because all of the specialty drinks had bitters in them. Yes, bitters. The same bitters you’d use in a craft cocktail. The barista assured me the the Kingfield was amazing, so I ordered it and was not disappointed. After many visits, I have determined the Hibernator to be my absolute favorite, but the Americano is a close second. The drinks are a bit on the spendy side which is the only thing preventing me from making this part of my daily routine.

This place has some smoooooooth coffee. I went on a very cold afternoon and holed up to catch up on some work. The place was packed. Has a great vibe, like most coffee places. I wish there were more comfy places to sit, but the stool by the window had to do. Would go back!

I’ve made a tradition to come here on Mondays after work to start on my homework for the week. I love it! Great coffee and friendly staff. It is a little limited for seating, but it always works out that I find one. Take the time to read their specialty drinks on the menu, so good!

*The best coffee in the cities, hands down* I could end the review right there, because that’s really all you need to know, but I’m sure you want more — so here goes. When I first walked in to Five Watt I was a little perplexed, it isn’t your typical ‘coffee house’. Well, it’s a garage, for one. Me and my lady sat our stuff down and got in line and started looking at the menu. «What the deuce is a busy beaver!?» «What on earth are bitters» «Where’s the karo??» A tall, burly man approached the counter and asked us if we had ever been there before. If the deer-in-headlights look on our faces didn’t already say it, we said no. «I’m going to ruin you for coffee» He remarked. «BUTIN A GOODWAY!» Someone else shouted. He told us to try the Iced Kingfield and May Day. Five Watt: 2 Other Coffee Shops: 0 I fell in love with this place. This has become me and my girlfriends staple coffee shop. The coffee is downright outstanding, and while some of their drinks are a little on the wild side, you always have the Kingfield to bring you home. Give this place a shot, try the Kingfield, fall in love.

Seemed like a very friendly and open place. A guy next to us was comfortable enough to ask to take a peek at the rules for a card game my boyfriend and I were playing. A tad disappointed that the only toilet paper they had left was the government special and they had run out of paper towels at the sink but I guess they were pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon. Also as others have mentioned the street parking nearby requires parallel parking skills and I think there was a 2 hour limit so it would be slightly annoying to move if you wanted to stay longer. At least it’s free. I was expecting to see a big board with what drinks they had displayed somewhere but we ended up having to quickly skim the paper menu slips when we got close enough to the register. Not a big deal but for convenience sake, non regulars and/or those too lazy to look up the menu/reviews beforehand it would have been nice. Looks like there’s a space for live music performers that would be cool to check out sometime. The signature Kingfield was not too sweet and the busy beaver was pretty unique. I’m also a sucker for latte art. Overall, pretty solid spot to meet up and hang out.

I loved this bada$$ but super down to earth coffee shop. The space isn’t huge but the coffee served here makes up for it three times over. They serve your typical coffees — latte, cap, americano, etc but they also have a twist — they can serve it with booze. O. o While I didn’t try their boozy coffee, I did grab myself a latte to go. It was amazingly strong and totally awoke me from my stupor with one sip. If you’re out this way, don’t miss out on this fantastic gem!

Wow. this place was simply cool. From the staff being hip, to the location and on to the crowd being super eclectic. The Kingfield(I had it cold) was great with the corriander and sea salt and the cold brew was strong and distinctly flavored with chicory. They roast some of their coffee and get some from a local roaster out of Wisconsin. The pastries looked so great, it was difficult to decide. But the Chocolate Chip muffin was so moist and filled with chocolate chips – perfect! The almond croissant was also delicious. I truly cannot wait to go back to the Twin Cities for dinner at The Revival and Coffee at Five Watt!

Only had time to pop in and grab a drink, so I chose the Kingfield based off the reviews. The drink itself is so unique, and the flavors are an odd combination – but somehow it works! If you want something that’ll surprise your tastebuds, I recommend this drink. The coffee shop itself was very hip and full of people when I came to visit. Plenty of seating too. Looks like a great place to hang out and catch up with some friends. I’d like to come back if I happen to be in town again.

If coffee is your love language(like mine), I’m pretty sure you’ll love Five Watt. This year it’s become my go-to spot for creamy almond milk lattes, both gluten-free AND glutenous pastries all with a side of hipster vibes(while remaining completely non-pretentious). Plus, plenty of nearby bike racks. Yeah, Five Watt Coffee is my jam. The baristas are serious about coffee. Each drink is crafted with care, made by someone with a few facial piercings wearing a beanie. Sigh… so dreamy… Sundays they have a keyboardist come and play on a small stage in the back for«Sunday Service,» it’s pretty fun unless you want to have a serious conversation without shouting and then it can be a bit much. That said, this place is usually perfect for catching up with an old friend or doing a bit of reading. They also have a lot of outlets so it’s a nice Laptop-and-Study(the opposite of Netflix-and-Chill) place, as well. It can get pretty crowded on weekend mornings, so be warned. It’s not very large so you might have to hover over some bearded guy and Warby Parker-wearing girl until they’re done talking about Arcade Fire and leave. But if that’s the biggest drawback? I’d say Five Watt is doing A-OK in my book.

I walked in and I thought: Laptopia! A beautiful café with drinks delicious and creative and totally open to the mid-summer air. I’ll be back. TIP — It was a long-ish drive from the hotel row southeast of the airport. BONUS — near some good eats — Blackbird and Kiyatchi! BONUS — my barista looked like Neko Case. You should be so lucky!

Yes! I found a perfect parking spot in front of Five Watt Coffee but the only thing is you have to parallel park. With that good amount of space for my Acura, I did it in a quick second while everyone seated outside watched me… seriously, I don’t like it when people watch. No applaud. I see. I have been here before but that was long time ago. The reason why I didn’t come back because I didn’t like the bench seat, it is kind of low on the butt. Coming back again, I am getting used to it. I showed up and the place is packed with neighborhood folks, I can tell because they are friendly and kind of hippies. Some of them are either dressed up in professional clothes and most of them are in their home clothes with messy hair, like myself. There seems to be a lot of men here on a Thursday, some are pretty looking. Anywho, I enjoyed their coffee. I got Katy Perry DECAF cold press. It is like a mixture of a little sugar cane and root beer with a foam on top. Thumbs up! And I finished it within 30 minutes, bad for me! There are other great drinks to try, most of it is cold press. I saw them have Sweet Science Ice Cream, sounds really good but I am lactose so I must stay away. I have heard a lot of good reviews about it. Make sure to bring Lactase! :) I had a great experience here. The barista was very nice and knowledgeable about coffee. I couldn’t order more because I didn’t want to spend too much money on it, after I spent $ 5. The space is small but I like the long bench. There is a unisex bathroom. It is interesting how they have four toilet rolls. Parking is free on the street. Yes, I will definitely come back!!!

I got the Katy perry. Cold press with rhubarb bitters and some foam on top. It was delicious. Everyone here was very cordial including the patrons. They have free wifi and free street parking too. There are a few outside tables which I sat at for hours doing work, so I had no complaints. There drinks are a little pricey but was delicious. I love all the different bitters they had-definitely paying for the creativity of the drinks.

Holy yum. I rarely get specialty coffee drinks because they are kind of a splurge for me, calorie wise. But I heard these are worth it, and they are. I got the Kingfield with almond milk and it’s delicious and unique. Love it. I’ve been here before for the gluten free donuts and those were amazing as well. Highly recommend. Spendy but worth it. The people working are super nice and friendly and helpful too, not snooty like some coffee shop places can be. Very laid back and chill.
