Great breakfast! Baked French toast was amazing. Service was friendly and efficient. Restaurant was clean and the music (oldies) was so good. I will definitely make this a regular breakfast location.

Ordered some chicken with mash potatoes and a veggie omelet. First time I went there for breakfast and I have to say their food was actually pretty good.

Best homemade food in Modesto. Love everything we’ve ever gotten here. And the homemade ice cream keeps us coming back almost once a week. Our go to place to eat out at.

My favorite breakfast place ever!!! My dad loved this place so in his honor we take the babies here! !! The blonde girl doesn’t even have to wrote down your order… she’s that good. She remembers all the regulars and their orders. I love it.

We use to love this place. Went into day to food the taste obviously frozen and biscuts and gravy that all you could taste was pepper. When we told our server i got the what do you want me to do attitude. I sent them back. The server them did not speak to us anymore and gave dirty look. Needless to say we wont be back. Unsure if they had a staff change but did not see anyone that is normally there

My sister and I came here for a late lunch before heading out to see a movie, and as usual I was pretty happy with the service. Everyone who works here is very friendly, and make you feel at home the minute you sit down. Almost always, you get to choose where you sit, and they start you off right away with drinks and menus. One of the only complaints I have is that they gave us a little too much time to decide on what we wanted to eat. We were sitting for close to ten minutes before the waitress came over to take our orders. I would’ve understood if it was packed inside, but being that it was late on a Saturday afternoon, it’s was only us and another table of older women who already had their food. Once we placed our orders though, the food came out very quickly, and it was fresh and delicious as always. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning here.

I’m giving four stars for the pancakes which are truly worth the trip. Got the #1 breakfast which included 2 pancakes, 2 eggs & 2 pieces of sausage or bacon. My over medium eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good but, thin but not skimpy.
The hubbs got the hungry hobo which is a 3-​egg scramble with onions, bell peppers, linguica, cheddar cheese & potato’s. I liked that they add salsa on the side. For all the stuff it had it really wasn’t all that tasty and more on the bland we don’t over season for seniors side. It included a side of biscuits & gravy which were just ok.
Stay away from the ham. For $ 2.99 we added a side of ham which was one thin slice of compressed meat or ham loaf.
There’s an ice cream showcase next to the register, next time I’ll get a full stack of pancakes, eggs and a sundae.
All this place needs to do to really be exceptional for breakfast is charge a little more & serve better meat.

The food here is not the best. My hamburger obviously came out of a box… I figured with all the great reviews I wouldn’t have to ask if they made the food fresh! Even In-​n-​Out uses fresh ground beef. I had a bite of my burger and that was enough, I couldn’t eat any more of it. The fries were also obviously frozen, but at least they were crispy. My fiancé also was only able to eat about two bites of his sandwich, I took a bite and it was flavorless except for the mayo it had been drowned in. His onion rings were okay but nothing special. Having left the majority of the food on our plates, we went to sample the ice cream. It was 3 stars, but only for some of the flavors we sampled… Nutter Butter was one of the better ones.
If you want a good burger, Lula’s down the street in Empire is delicious and she uses fresh ingredients! The neighborhood is a little sketchy looking but the food is great and the ladies that run the place are super sweet. The prices are also very reasonable, even inexpensive for what you get.
For reference, I’m a «food person»…having lived in NYC and Los Angeles and having sought out the best of everything, I can only give Velvet Grill two stars because the people were friendly.

My boyfriend and I pass this joint allllll the time and have always wanted to check it out. Lets just say we have been missig out on some great food and fabulous service!!!

Pretty reasonable diner food. Came in here for a quick bite before an event in Modesto. We covered lots of ground — burgers, fish and chips, salad, reuben. Not enough time for ice cream though. Orders taken on iPhones is pretty cool. Service was very nice and thorough.

Love this place! They are super accommodating and always have some good home food. The waitresses and waiter are kind.
Coffee is always refilled. If you want your bacon a specific way you need to order it that way.
Number 4 is your best bet for bacon, eggs, and pancakes.

Ate here while on a short road trip. After looking at Unilocal I decided to have the pancakes for breakfast. After reading the menu I still decided to have them. You see they are made with oatmeal and the last time I had pancakes with oatmeal they were as heavy as lead. You see I am not a pancake fan oohh I will eat them but they are way down my list of breakfast food.
That being said the pancakes were light fluffy and tasted Heavenly. If I am in the area again I will eat here.

Always amazing food ! Service is decent considering this place is always EXTREMLY busy ! (For good reason)

The food is pretty good here. It’s a little on the pricey side I’ve noticed. But the atmosphere & staff are always really friendly. Their ice cream is delicious!

This place has the BEST pancakes, they’re oatmeal buttermilk and absolute perfection. I dream of these pancakes and I usually am not one to order pancakes at a restaurant. Great customer service, it’s one of my favorite places to go in Modesto for breakfast or for a burger.

First Time Here after Cousin Always Be Checking In Here. Finally Tried it. Totally Recommended. Everything Was Delicious! Started of with a fresh garden Salad. I ordered the crab pasta mmm yummy. Crab was super soft and the pasta had a delicious taste in Alfredo sauce. Finished up with one scoop of vanilla ice cream super creamy, it was fantastic.

Pretty good. Service was great and food was great. My favorite was the french toast! We had rocky road ice cream for dessert. Yum!

Diner fare with quality, locally sourced ingredients. We enjoyed the vegetarian omelette, combo #2 (eggs, choice of meat and waffle) and combo #1 (eggs, choice of meat, potatoes and toast). Everything was freshly made and tastefully prepared.
Service was excellent. Our wait staff were very attentive and kindly. They made us welcome and assured were are well take care of.

I enjoyed the service, food, and ice cream from the restaurant.

The grilled mushroom burger was so full of flavor I just wanted to keep it. The burger was also served on wheat bread and it had a good combo with the meat. I ordered side salad to replace the fries and I felt there wasn’t any wow factor to it. I ordered a cookie sundae and we shared for 3 (large size). I loved the. cookie dough ice cream and there was a cookie flavor on the other side. The sundae had oreo cookie crumbs, hot fudge, whip cream, and a cherry on top.

It was nice to see the restraunt was being cleaned. The waitress took us to our seat and asked what we wanted to drink. Nice friendly smiles and I was pleased to see this.

I love the homemade ice cream. Looks like Coldstone creamery. First time here. Service was great because i was the only customer. Hostess let me try many flavors. It was a tough choice. I ended up with combo cookies and cream cocoanut and mint chocolate chip in a small sized cup; plenty to eat. They have lots of regular flavors and daily fun flavors.
They also serve breakfast and homemade soup.
