After our unsatisfying experience at Crawfish On Fire in Eagle Rock, we returned to our original place. This review has been a long time coming, but seriously this place never disappoints! The ambience is nice and open and very clean. The service is always great– all the servers are so attentive regardless of how busy it is. The food is always satisfying and flavorful. Over our multiple dining experiences here, we have gotten the popcorn lobster basket, snow crab legs, shrimp, clams, sweet potato fries, oysters, Cajun fries, grilled asparagus and zucchini, garlic bread… We can go on and on. Each and every item we’ve had here has been delicious. We prefer the house mix for our flavor and it’s consistently delicious every time we eat here. It’s worth every penny. Management is always so welcoming and accommodating. When it’s slow, the manager and/or owner always tends to check on us to make sure we’re satisfied. I remember him even giving us free garlic bread just because. He truly shows his appreciation for your business which well. encourages us to keep returning. Highly recommended!

Cracking crab is my favorite place to go to for seafood. The taste is amazing and so is the service. The tools they give you to crack the crab open, make it so easy! They also give you gloves so your hands stay clean. I will definitely be coming back soon. Thank you cracking crab for another great meal :)

Don’t waste your time or money. The food was awful– greasy and terrible flavor. Service was awful. We repeatedly asked for utensils and they never gave us enough for each person to have their own. No service and only one personal bathroom so you have to wait just to wash the oily grease off your hands. The bathroom was filthy and my shoes stuck to the floor. Seriously this place almost made me barf.

Not really satisfied with the taste of the food we ordered. My 9 yr old son ordered the shrimp basket and the shrimp was ok but the cajun fries we’re awful!!! I ordered 2lbs of shrimp medium hot w/cracking crab mix and 1lb of the spicy w/cracking crab mix for me and my wife and the taste was the same no difference. The shrimp was flavorless, It had the taste of boiled water. Plus I honestly don’t think they gave us the 3 lb of shrimp that we ordered, It was more like 2lbs all together. The only reason I give this place 2 stars is for the cleanness and there’s no wait we walked right in but I honestly rather wait two hours at BOILLINGCRAB and get what I pay for which is the flavor and the amount of shrimp which I’m charge for. This is the first and last time I come here !!! SMH

Wow, seven of us went here for dinner and all were very disappointed. We have been to plenty of crab places and shrimp boils. We were expecting something much better. The food was oily and so over-seasoned, you really couldn’t taste the flavors of the seafood. We tried clams, crab, crawfish and shrimp. The clams were decent and the coleslaw was pretty good, but the rest just were not very good at all. It was expensive and the service was pretty lousy. We kept asking for crab crackers and pickers and never got enough so that each person could use one. We kept having to pass utensils back and forth. Weird that they didn’t give you plates, even for the rice and the coleslaw. Weird that the food comes in plastic bags and you have to dig through the oil with your fingers to get the food. They need to improve quickly or they will not survive in competitive Montrose.

I’ve been here two times and I was very pleased with their service and the quality of their food. The seasonings and all that stuff that goes inside the bag are delicious and well put together. I also like their fried stuff as well. The calamari and popcorn lobster. Portions are good as well This could be a fun date spot, a family spot, or even a spot to go watch some sports. The set up inside is very simple and it’s pretty inviting. The prices are very reasonable. The only reason I gave it one less star is because it doesn’t blow me away as far as the food and service, it’s just standard. All in all I would recommend this place

I was unimpressed with the oysters I ordered and shrimp I ordered on my first visit to the Cracking Crab about three months ago — the service was also not that great. It didn’t leave enough of an impression on me and my waitress at the time didn’t seem to speak much English so I didn’t leave a Unilocal review then and went on my merry way to the Boiling Crab whenever I had a craving for some yummy spicy shrimp and crab in a bag that I can get all over my hands as I eat. Yesterday, I didn’t feel like driving far and waiting so I took my husband to my second visit to Cracking Crab and I’m really glad I gave it another shot. Our waitress, Janie, was freaking fantastic. She was super attentive(refilling my iced tea before I had to ask), asking if there was anything else we needed, and offering us plenty of their delicious limes with salt/pepper. She made sure we were taken care of and she seemed to be the best waitress within the joint, covering multiple tables and doing it as efficiently as possible. The shrimp was also really really great and I think I actually prefer the mix of flavors at the Cracking Crab even more than their competitors. It was big and plump. I also added the half pound of sausage and it was more than enough food for me. The price was also great — it was about $ 40.00 including tip for two pounds of shrimp and one half pound of sausage that left my husband and I stuffed! This is the type of food where if you taste remnants of the spices a couple of hours after the meal, you feel pleasantly surprised instead of grossed out. I am so so glad we came back here. I probably won’t order oysters here again, but I’ll be back to try the crab and some of the other dishes.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice. We love it! My boyfriend always gets the Lobster Popcorn and since I am a vegetarian I order their Cajun Fries and a House Salad. The food and the atmosphere are great! It’s a fun place to go and eat. The staff is very nice as well. Great location, I’m glad they opened one up in Montrose.

Excellent food! Excellent service! The staff was all so genuinely nice. Super messy to eat, but I love the flavor! This definitely isn’t the place to take a first date or anyone you’re trying to impress, you gotta get messy to enjoy the food properly! Ladies, make sure you bring a clip to put your hair up!

Ben and I legitimately love this spot to watch sports and have a beer. It’s such a quaint atmosphere in the heart of Montrose. We always stick to the same thing I recommend getting a few things. About 3 pounds of food between us have a few leftovers but perfect. The organic sake is amazing and does the job. Just don’t go dressed up ladies this is a low key spot. You will likely get dirty.

Great again! Really enjoyed their mac and cheese this time around to carbo load with the seafood. Taste has remained consistent and will definitely be back again. Lines are definitely better now that it is winter so I have to load up now!

After two visits I just cannot get myself to like this place. I have been to multiple other restaurants like here, and Cracking Crab is by far the worst. The staff gives off a very cold and unfriendly vibe which makes eating here less enjoyable. As for the food, the seasoning is way too salty, the king crab legs had a weird plastic-like taste, and the shrimp was soft on the inside, giving it a strange texture that shrimp should not have. Personally I would advise anyone to not waste their time here and go to Crab Boil Ave. in Glendale instead, or Boiling Crab if you really do not mind the wait.

Man this place is awesome! It is an absolute mess and disaster to eat(I know they give you bibs and napkins, but you are gonna get messy) and its hilarious that the table is covered in butcher paper and your food comes out in thick plastic bags. That said, the food was outstanding and very flavorful. You get a bag with your fish covered in the seasoning, and some salt pepper and lime to dip it in on the side, which was very nice. For some reason they brought out the two of us about 20 – 30 slices of lime but whatever. Several different fish options at varying prices. We just stuck to shrimp, rice and corn, and it was very affordable — 30 bucks, which included over 2 pounds of shrimp! I really want to go back and try the crab sometime! By the way, the corn here, served right in the bag with the fish is absolutely incredible. I ordered a second for myself, and next time I might just get 4 or 5. It was ridiculous. Cool place, different experience, and well worth your time! Do not wear light colored clothes that you care about.

Like Boiling Crab and Shrimp Lover, but no wait cuz it’s still new and a «secret». Price is similar… about $ 1 more per pound than Shrimp Lover, but the location is what makes this place a pleasure to go to. Nestled in the beautiful and quaint town of Montrose, eating and taking a strole after and visiting local shops is a must. Check out the small bowling alley and all the cafes. We went here on a Sunday afternoon and walked around the Farmers Market and Boutiques. Fresh produce and other cooked items like grilled corn, Korean bowls, and Mexican plates. Artisan soaps and fine jewelry are every where. A great place to take a date for a casual Sunday strole with shopping, good food and friendly people. Now to the food. Shrimp is very similar to other same type eateries. Service is excellent and all servers kept checking on us. Again not very crowded since it’s fairly new and does not have a huge following yet. Take advantage of this if you love shrimp in that spicy and buttery sauce. Plenty of public parking as well. The menu is not too cumbersome as the focus is the seafood. The fried Calamari was good and so were the Cajun fries. Drinks are bottomless… sodas that is. And, this place is cleeeeean, if your girl is a clean freak. 5 TVs are great to watch scores on ESPN. The table spacing is also nice and wide. You don’t feel crowded eating. Price is comparable, food is good, location and stuff to do after makes this place a destination and not just a place to eat. Plan on 3 – 4 hours for lunch and make it a memory. Cheers!

I really like this place, most people go here for the shrimp and craw fish experience. I go for the oysters, one of the few places that i can get oysters for a decent price. If you want to watch sports have some fun food and a beer or two this spot is perfect.

I’ve been here multiple times since they opened and always come through on weekdays in the late afternoon, so I’ve never had had an issue getting seated or waiting long for food! It’s all about timing. I recently came here on Monday and I really have to give this place props. They’ve made a lot of changes over the year which means they ACTUALLY listen to customer feedback and actually put effort into improving their business! One day I came in and they added a trash bucket, another visit they added more food to the menu, and this time the server offered to put our bibs on. As a small business with only one or two servers on the floor, tying bibs can take up valuable time that can be used taking orders or the other millions of things servers have to do so APPRECIATEIT! I’m Filipino, so I eat with my hands. so this place is just heaven. Eating with my hands in public without being judged? YESS. If you are on your lunch break or just don’t want your hands to smell like garlic for the rest of the day, THEYOFFERGLOVES! They have non-messy lunch specials here too! .but I’ll always get the messy stuff. My boyfriend always gets a pound of shrimp with potatoes and sausages and I just get a pound of shrimp. He really loves the sausages – they’re nicely cooked and thinly sliced. We both really love garlic so the flavor is always on point. We also douse everything in lime juice for the ultimate flavor experience. We always get a basket of the Cajun fries – The crunch of the fries gives the meal more texture then just eating shrimp. Oh, they have a nice selection of beers and wines. ANOTHERPLUS. Wait and now they have fried ice cream! Or maybe they had it before… I have no idea. But anyway, it was a great way to end the meal! Ok wait, and also the owner, I think, is always there when we come by so to me, that means he cares about his business. I’ve worked for small businesses in the food industry and I know a good owner when I see one. He actually helps check on the tables and brings out food for customers. Doesn’t just leave the server to somehow do everything on her own. With all the changes that this business has done, I know they want to succeed! Try it out!

Came here for the first time for dinner with a big group. We had the shrimp, crab legs, clam chowder, fried calamari, chicken tenders, and muscles. Everything was very good. The muscles were a little overcooked, but good nevertheless. I’d definitely come back.
