Great local/craft beer selection, outdoor seating, beer cheese. What else do you need? The pretzel balls and beer cheese were spectacular… I had to have more of that beer cheese, so enter the Porter Road Butcher dog on a pretzel bun with beer cheese and bacon. Not health food by any means, but a fantastic splurge if you need a cheat day. There are no fries, everything is served with chips. No burgers on the menu either, but let’s be honest, you’d be next door at Flip Burger if that’s what you were craving anyway. My husband had the nachos with PRB chili and they were great, too. I love that they use PRB meats! Our server was very knowledgeable about the beers on tap and didn’t mind our questions about the more obscure options. Growler filling seems to be pretty popular there — there was a steady stream of people walking in and out with growlers the whole time we were there. The shared lot for that strip isn’t huge, so parking might be a challenge during peak times, but we had no issues.

Great beer selection AND… KILLER, NEWBBQ. We had the dry-rubbed ribs and the brisket. Both were appropriately moist and tender. Great flavor. We love Martin’s BBQ, but may be better!(Don’t hate me, Martin… we’ll still be back to see ya).

The nastiest food I’ve ever tasted in life. I order the wings thinking who can really mess up buffalo wings. Let me tell you it taste like rubber. It was hard to digest. The quality of the chicken was cry poor!

I really want to like this place, I really do. It’s in my neighborhood, for one. But there is one thing that keeps that from happening: their beer menu presentation. They have a large list of beers available on any given day, but my issue is that I can’t tell what kind of beer is what! There is no indicator of what style each beer is unless it is in the name(All Day IPA for example), so you have to ask the waitress about five questions before you can decide on what beer you want. I prefer to be a well informed beer drinker, but I find this rather exhausting. I imagine I am not the only one who has to ask all these questions. I understand their beer list changes daily(or so they say), but how hard would it be to print off a daily menu and have the beers organized by style? Not hard, if you ask me. That or they need to get a digital board, or a chalk board where they have more room to write their beer list. Whew, vent session over. I have only eaten here once, right when they opened, and the food was just okay. It looks like they’ve changed the menu a bit so I can’t speak for the food of recent, but the menu is still pretty generic. I think there is a great opportunity for a more refined menu here, and I hope to see that happen in the future.

The Beer Pale is located in the developing West Nashville neighborhood. Parking here can be difficult to find due to the traffic for Flip Burger which is located next door. My friends and I went here because M.L. Rose was packed. I know that it was a weeknight but surprisingly, Beer Pale was extremely dead even though the other bar we went to was super busy. We weren’t even sure if they were still open at first because the only person we saw inside was cleaning the floor. However, they have a pretty good beer selection on tap with lots of regional and local brews. While not a sports bar, they did have a TV with Shark week on in the corner of the bar. There were also some games including a deck of cards for patron use. The business has some potential but the lack of atmosphere made it feel a bit lackluster. Hopefully as they develop their customer base it was get better.

I don’t get out to Sylvan Heights that often but when I do, I’m reminded that the west side of town is offering up some nice choices for businesses and residents. The Beer Pale is one of those choices. Situated on a busy stretch of Charlotte, you might miss is it you’re not looking for it, but I don’t think you’ll have the same problem in a few months. The area is growing like a weed. I came here for a planning meeting but I also came hungry. Rather than depending on beer to act as my meal(as I’ve done in the past), I settled on some solid food. Now, here’s the kicker: I ordered a salad. Rather than ordering a sandwich or some nachos to accompany my beer(because although I was there for a meeting, I was also there to drink some beer), I went for greens. Yeah. It happened. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. Parking. Parking was a bit tight. This business grouping has been discovered and if you come at peak times, parking will be a problem. After sitting in the lot and scowling, I Jedi mind tricked someone into leaving and i swooped in like a gold digger to a 90-year old heir with a bum ticker. Since it was a bit chilly, I dismissed the outside seating(could be nice in better weather) and made my way inside. It’s not too large and I imagine that it could be packed on the weekend, so choose your time to go wisely. This isn’t as much a restaurant as it is a pub. Let your expectations be reasonable. Our waitress was pleasant enough, if not overly chatty. Inoffensive. Okay. Caught Up. Back to the grub. I ordered a stout(on tap) and the chicken & fruit salad. Yeah, they didn’t go together but I wanted what I wanted. I figured the greens and fruit would balance the pounds the beer was putting on my belly. My stout was fine(seasonal and hit the spot) but the salad was a real surprise. I didn’t know the wisdom of my choice(I was eating a lot of out of season fruit and pairing it with a dark beer) but I came to enjoy it and would order it again if it were still on the menu. My salad was a large plate of greens, warm, sliced chicken, watermelon, grapes, strawberries, and pear paired with a cider vinaigrette dressing. This would be a go-to salad in the summer. In the winter, not such an obvious choice… but still very tasty. I’d like to spend some time exploring the extent of their beer menu. As for the meeting… it went well. In fact, it resulted in much aMUSEment this summer. And, yep. Started planning it in the winter.

We’ve been in and out of this Sylvan Park spot since it opened, and it’s great to see it hit its stride. The beer selection is always excellent, but the real bright spot is the food. It’s rare to find a watering hole with a menu as interesting as this. They’ve consistently upped the ante since opening and even started sourcing some product from nearby Porter Road Butcher. Service is always helpful and friendly. Give it a few visits and you’ll probably be on a first-name basis with a few of the staff. It’s a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Oh, the selection of beer is fantastic! They have a great selection of local breweries and others from around the country. The staff is knowledgable and great to chat with. The food is what you would expect for a pub style place, but I rate it above average. I just moved here and I found this a great place to meet the locals and find out about the area. If you’re nearby or up for a drive, give them a shot. If the lot is full, they have free valet parking. Did I mention their patio is DOGFRIENDLY?!?

Came to this place to sit outside and drink some beer since we were in the neighborhood. They have a great beer selection with local beers and unique ones from other areas too. You can order flights, pints, or growlers. They do have a food menu but we didn’t order anything as we ate earlier. It is kind of small but it wasn’t too packed. Indoor & outdoor seating with garage doors that open up. Quick service too. Check this place out.

I went to the beer pale with my dad for dinner. I hadn’t heard much about it but I had seen it driving down Charlotte and any place with good beer grabs my attention. It was really empty for a Friday night which was a little worrisome. No new restaurant in Nashville is ever empty on a Friday night. But I still wanted to give it a shot and no wait is a plus in my mind. The beer selection was great. I love craft beers so i have no complaints. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Hopefully that remains the same when its busy. The menu was lacking. I guess they don’t have a full service kitchen. They had salads and sandwiches. No wings or fries or burgers. I don’t mind those options for lunch but for dinner it was a little meh. I had the french dip. It was tasty, though a little cold in the middle. I had a side salad with a side of Ken’s ranch(would be better if they made their own). My dad had the reuben. He ate it but didn’t rave about it. It had a good atmosphere and will be a great patio spot in the summer. But I think its going to have a hard time competing with M. L Rose and Flip Burger opening soon. I’d go back for a beer maybe. But there are so many great beer places with good food, I’m not sure.

Civilized people drink beer at lunch. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! On a Monday before Christmas I decided to try The Beer Pale for lunch while out running errands. Aside from the fire alarm testing for soon-to-open Flip Burger next door, it was the perfect lunch. Great pastrami sandwich and a tasty Manhattan lager. Friendly service. Free Wi-Fi.

Really cool spot in an area that is up and coming. Great selection of local and regional craft beers, with growlers and refills for sale. For lunch, I had the french dip sandwich and the soup of the day. On this particular day, the soup was white beans with country ham and kale. The soup was delicious and reasonably priced for a side. For some reason they didn’t have soup spoons, so it was a little difficult to eat a hearty soup with a small spoon. The meat on the sandwich was thinly sliced, rare, delicious beef. The bread, which I doubt was made in house, was fresh and soft with a slight crunch on the outside. I don’t care if they made the bread… it was perfect. I can foresee this place outgrowing itself in the very near future. With only about 12 tables and 5 or 6 seats at the bar, they don’t have much room to grow. When we arrived for lunch at about 12:15, there was only one table open. As this place continues to gain popularity, they may not be able to suit all customers. Overall, good atmosphere, small but crafty beer selection, and good food.

Great place for lunch or a beer after work. I came with some work colleagues and had lunch. The grilled cheese with ham was fantastic and my colleagues said their chicken salad sandwiches were delicious. They had a great beer selection, including a Country Boy on tap! Great to see a Lexington beer in Nashville. The owner even came and talked to us for a while. Very nice place with good service.

We were so excited to try a new place for a few beers and snacks, it was cool. It was really loud in there but the developers have done a great job turning that building into an awesome new design. We had the pretzel bites and chips & salsa. They were just ok, but I don’t think it was the normal pretzel app they normally have. All in all, I have been twice now. Once to hangout and once for my friend to fill a growler. Glad there’s a filling station now for west siders!

Family-friendly, fun-friendly beer drinking! The Beer Pale is a great neighborhood spot. It’s a little hard to find on Charlotte because there isn’t a sign. If you are heading over just look for the new building along that part of the Charlotte corridor. I believe that Flip Burger will be going in next door so maybe they’ll sign that baby up when it’s all done. The Beer Pale, or BP as I like to call it, has a large deck with plenty of seats. The inside is a little tight but offers plenty of seats and two large, flat screen TVs. I stopped in on a Friday around 6pm and it was hopping! There were plenty of families, with kids in tow, and non-families relaxing and having a good time. We tried the pretzel balls, they were good, but the beer cheese wasn’t my favorite in town. I almost wish that they were stuffed with beer cheese and mustard. The beer selection is composed of the usual suspects with a few extras sprinkled in but alas that is the Nashville beer scene. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and will probably be back next time I am over that way. I will say that the staff was on top of things! They were packed and it rained which meant that everyone outside quickly moved inside. Even with the traffic jam they were incredibly helpful and quick. They were professionals! They didn’t let anyone suffer and I was very impressed.
