Came here on around 9pm on a Saturday night to kill some time waiting for my table to open up at the Boil. I had honestly never noticed the place before. My friend text me saying she was at the bar next door, so I went up some stairs(I don’t remember seeing a sign), pushed through the first unmarked door I saw and discovered her sitting at this bar with about 5 other people, all of whom left within the half hour we were there. The décor has changed considerably since the Unilocal photos were taken, unless they were all taken of different floors. It’s pretty much all black. There was a skeleton with a hat sitting in one of the bar stools. The place feels and looks like a lounge but they have a «Come watch the game!» sign on the door. They don’t have amaretto. Also not sure why Unilocal thinks they’re so pricey, I paid $ 6 for my Stella. They serve food but I didn’t order any. I heard that the Boil may be buying the space and turning it into a bar/waiting area and expanding the restaurant space, an idea I really like the sound of. That also might account for their sort of odd vibe, their not knowing what they want to be, and not having a huge selection of booze. My receipt also says their name is «Mystique».

Overall a decent place minus THIS one horrible bartender. First off we had a tab opened and was constantly ordering drinks. And what happens when you drink alcohol? You get dehydrated! Asked the African American bartender for water and she said you need to buy a bottle. Are you kidding me?!? I have never heard any food/beverage service place deny a patron water. And I just looked at my credit card statement now and she tipped herself more than I put. Good job you horrible witch. Trying to take advantage of a drunk customer, thinking they would not remember exactly how much they should be charged. No wonder she doesn’t serve you water. She does not want you to sober up so she can tip herself as much as she would like. NEVERCOMINGBACK. Come here if you want to be ripped off and charged more than you would like.

As I waited for an hour and change for my dinner reservation, my friends and I decided to have a drink and wait. Great happy hr specials 5 $ for well drinks and 3 $ beers. Great! Place wasn’t too busy but the bartender was a Little slow. Must try the Watermelon mint mojito. It’s $ 11 but so worth it. Plenty of seating and nice place to grab a drink or 2 and head off to start your night.

I came here to kill time since we were waiting for our table at a nearby restaurant. This place its very pretty, has a very modern look which I totally liked. We sat at the bar and the bartender informed us of the happy hours specials, $ 3 for beer and $ 5 for well drinks. We had some of the HH specials but I saw a few people around us drinking watermelon mojitos and it looked really good. So I ordered one and it didn’t disappoint. This mojito was delicious and made with real watermelon instead of syrup like other locations. Just a warming it took the bartender longer than usual to make this drink but hey you cant rush perfection. I didn’t get to try any of their food since I was going somewhere else for dinner but I will be coming back.

I was here on 3÷14÷14. There was a mandatory coat check for $ 4.00. At the end of the night the coat check attendant mixed up my coat with someone else’s coat. Luckily I found out whose coat I had, but no one has come forward with mine. I basically paid $ 4.00 and lost an expensive coat with no restitution. I also found out I’m not the only one who lost their jacket that night. I’ve been calling the number listed on Unilocal during the hours of operation listed with no avail and I’ve stopped by on 3÷16÷14 to see if they were open. Something needs to be done to prevent this from happening again. People make mistakes I know, but I don’t think it’s fair that no one is taking responsibility for the attendant’s carelessness. I would appreciate if someone would contact me with at least an apology. SMH!

Been here once and I love this place! It has an underground feel to it. It’s not big or fancy but it was nice and intimate. Might be my new favorite club!

Dirty cheap drinks. 2 dollar draft beer all day all night and 5 dollar shots. I can see why no one comes here even though drinks are cheap.(1) outside looks like a hotel instead of a bar/club(2) music is horrible(3) bathrooms are not taken care of Music here has gotten better, but I think it’s being played from the radio. I see a spot for the DJ to hit up some beat, but I don’t understand why they don’t use it. They have a decent size dance floor. I saw a group of people on the dance floor once trying to get their groove on and some reason this mist of smoke comes out which scared them away. It’s some nice effect, but it’s too much to the point you can’t see anyone on the dance floor. I would come here to pregame and bounce within an hour or two.

After reading the previous reviews, this place is definitely no longer Club Mystique. I don’t know the exact history, but it might be under new management. Regardless, this is a DOPE spot. It has $ 2 draft beers all night! You can’t get a better deal than that anywhere in NYC! I’ll agree with other reviewers that the music was very terrible — but there wasn’t any DJ working. The bartender let me friend jump in as an impromptu DJ and switched up the house music to Hip-Hop — this changed the vibe of the place(for the better). The place is very relaxed and chill.

Wish I could rate this place a zero. Had such a horrible time I had to create a Unilocal account to get the message out– Never in all my 10+ years of NYC nightlife have I experienced such douchey bouncers and a dance floor filled with nothing but rude losers radiating body odor. Spent $ 900 for bottle service there but had more fun spending $ 60 at the next bar. Unless you like giving money to a bar that doesn’t appreciate your business, don’t even bother with this place. In short, this place sucks!

I guess the management of this place thinks that probably they are the only one’s who run are a cool, hippy club in lower east side. Guys open your eyes and see around, there are plenty of options here in les. First of all I think the bouncers at the door need some serious education on etiquettes and manners on how to talk to people. These d**k head bouncers are rude and not at all fair in what they do at the door. There are very high chances they will tell you that there is a private party going on inside just as an excuse and the very next moment they would let two random girls in who don’t know anything about the party. There is actually no party, they just give this random excuse to the people on the door. Avoid this place at all the times, there are plenty of cool places in lower east side.

I have to just date myself here and say that this is definitely the strangest club I have been to since the 90’s… It’s not really something I can put into words but I will try… If you watch SNL you will get that it is a place that Stefan would review… If he hasn’t already! I literally saw on the dance floor last night a Hasidic Jewish guy, a guy in a bow-tie, two girls in Lady Gaga inspired outfits(circa Just Dance), a couple chicks in bathing suits, and a dude wearing a mask and gloves with laser pointers in the fingers. No I am NOT making this up! This place was FANTASTIC!!! Awesome light show on the dance floor, great décor, good vibe, and good music. It reminded me of Europe and the décor gave the club an ambiance or sculptural element. The bouncer was totally nice to my group which included 2 guys. We got in without a problem and we were not on any list…

I go out every weekend and I’ve been to more places than many other people I’ve known and this place is just horrible… the manager(a short brunet) and the door man are absolutely ridiculous. Its a new spot and they are trying to hype it up by being selective and to make it like its exclusive. They are trying to use the«people want what they cant have» kind of mentality. Making it hard for people but even once we got in, it wasnt even all that. One would think all that hassle just to have fun and for this?! Its clubs like these that takes the fun out of the city and what«having fun» is really about. DONTEVENBOTHER with this place.

I went here this past Saturday night and I must say I was impressed. It was packed with good looking people and I was a big fan of the DJ. My friends knew the owners, so my rating is a little biased simply because I didn’t have to deal with a lot of the BS that some of the raters were talking about. However, the décor/ambiance were pretty cool and the vibe was chill. I haven’t checked out the karaōke place yet, but will report when i do!

Stumbled in to Mystique on a whim after a grueling flag football practice*. Dressed in tights, soccer shorts, sneakers, and a sweaty tee(as were my friends) I was pretty certain they were going to deny us entry at the door despite the fact that the place looked pretty quiet late on a Monday night. To my surprise the bartender welcomed us in and let me know that Monday night the special was $ 3 for any draft. Um, winner! Captain Lawrence on tap? CHAMPION. After we grabbed our beers we headed down to the dance floor and watched the regulars doing salsa. I’m not much for dancing, so I just convinced my teammates to mack it to the single ladies… one got a dance, the other it was a swing and a miss**. Eek! I wandered around after using the bathroom*** and found a second floor. Heard some ridiculousness coming from behind one of the doors so I decided to pop my head in and sure enough there was a group of people doing karaōke. By far the strangest bar I have ever been to — and I’ve been to some pretty strange bars****. Needless to say I’m looking forward to coming back on a Monday night with some of my lady friends. I know they like to dance and I have a feeling that place is right up their alley. The fact that there’s always the option to do karaōke and the selection of beers on tap is AWESOME for a «lounge» makes it an ideal spot for me to make an absolute fool of myself. I’ll be back. — — - * Yes, some people do practice flag football. ** The chick who shot my friend down was a jerk. She didn’t even look him in the eye when she told him no. Rude. *** One bathroom. One toilet. I don’t know how this works when the place is jumping and I kind of don’t want to know. **** Strangest bar = some goth bar in Dallas, Texas. That was the scariest experience of my life. There were whips… and chains… and all I know was that I was wearing a white tee shirt that said, «Hug Me I’m A Canadian!»

I came here on a promoter’s list last night. We waited on the guest line with a bunch of others on the same list for about 10 minutes as the bouncers counted us all up. After one bouncer counted 13 people total(mostly girls, all well dressed) and moved us all over to the door, another bouncer said no, we weren’t allowed in. Literally, they moved our group over as if about to let us in, then said, «you 13 people? You’re not getting in tonight!» No explanation at all, and really rude. Now I’ve been turned away before for having too big a group or too many guys or whatever, but never like this. It didn’t even seem to be an «exclusivity» thing here; it really just seemed like nobody knew what was going on. With so many other less obnoxious places nearby, you can bet I won’t end up back here.

I went to Mystique last weekend and had a great time. Its best to show up before midnight(especially if you are a guy) to get inside before the place packs up and the bouncers get cocky. This place is strictly guest list only and the trendy nightlife dress code is enforced. Make sure your promoter’s list is set up BEFORE you go or youll be waiting on the corner of Delancy and Chrystie until they get there. The bouncers can get picky on large groups so make sure to meter yourselves in if you have a large party. Once inside, the décor is quite nice. Obviously they are still in development of this place but the staff was quite nice even allowing us to do a private tour. The place has a narrow bar which widens into a wild dance floor located on the first floor. The bartenders were respectful and effective at managing a large crowd. The place turns crazy after 12:30 and it becomes pretty hard to get in. They have pretty nice light shows followed by fog machines to make the atmosphere unique especially for a get together. The music was pretty damn good and mostly house + hip hop. The venue has an awesome Karaōke Bar on the second level with a pretty nice interface for choosing a song. They pretty much had every song that I searched for lol. Even without going on the rooftop I had a good time. The only con of this place is sometimes the bouncers can be strict after hours and the rooftop is only open to 8pm. Come on hhahaha.

I went here on opening night and it was packed. Great music and awesome staff. There’s 2 floors. I like how they decorated the bottom floor with the lights and all. I heard the first floor is going to have 7 rooms for karaōke. Good looking crowd… will definitely be back!
