I’m so sorry this place closed. It was my goto place any time I in the area.

Heartbroken. Is there anywhere else in the city close to this? Organic, raw, amazing eats that are completely stellar and incredible service? This was my favorite place in the city…

This place is amazing. I don’t know how they turn raw foods into something so incredible so consistently. I’m surprised people are bitching about the prices — seriously? Have you bought produce before? Do you know NYC is an expensive place to own a restaurant? It actually shocks me this place can thrive because it must be tough to assume how much of different vegetables they will need without things spoiling. The mint sundae is a must. The vegetable lasagna is amazing. The yellow pepper sauce that tops the beet ravioli is one of the best foods in this city. The kale salad was great as well. Great outdoor seating as well.

Oh my goodness I’ve been dying to come here and he food was STELLAR. The MEDITERRANEAN salad was so delightful. The dressing made it delicious and the portions were huge! The tortilla wraps… Oh my goodness so much better than regular ones tbh. And the Thai wraps were also delightful– sweet when we first bite it and then savory for the aftertaste. My friend also had the Swan green(I think that’s what it’s called) and it was surprisingly amazing! The waitress was attentive and awesome and we ended our lunch with a wondrous lemon tart and MINTSUNDAE! I am definitely coming here back for sure!

I am giving a 3 star for the portion sizing and the pricing. Positive: beautiful outdoor garden, great overall décor, love the raw/vegan/gluten free concept, food is yummy. Negative: rude staff upon arrival, overpriced and was hungry when I left. I ate the croquettes and it was good although it didn’t fill me up. The menu was designed so you can eat all 3 courses without feeling like you are going to explode … Not really convenient when you don’t want to spend over 60 $. I would probably go back but for lunch!

My new favorite spot! I really hope more restaurants in NYC open up like this! Pure food and wine are for those health conscious who also enjoy a GORGEOUS ambiance. They have a stunning outdoor garden in the back good for dinner, dessert or just drinks in a low key setting. They sell kambucha at the bar! Thank you! Everything here is vegan. No sugar, no dairy, no gluten, no pesticides. The food and dessert were shockingly delicious. Who knew healthy could be so good?

You come to Pure for the Zucchini and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna, period. My review is based on that one dish. The nut cheeses are homemade and the thin layers are so expertly carved and crafted that you feel like you are eating a piece of art. You will have a hard time believing that it is vegan. It is one of those entrees that is so memorable that you will not regret spending a cent of the $ 23. My fiancé, now husband, actually proposed to me at Pure Food & Wine — over a plate of said lasagna and a bottle of organic wine. It was really romantic — due to the dim candle-lit atmosphere. After the proposal, the couple sitting next to us bought us desserts(so sweet, right?). I do not remember anything special about the two desserts, because they were just ok. Similarly, we ordered the pear salad and I have had other appetizers there, but I can barely remember anything about them, because they were just ok. But that’s OK with me. To reiterate — «You come to Pure for the Zucchini and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna, period».

There is a lovely outdoor garden out the back — definitely come here on a balmy night. Food is all raw and super fresh and tasty. Shared the lasagne and the beetroot ravioli which were stunning and very well presented. The lasagne was particularly filling, because of the amazing creamy pesto sauce. Great attentive service as well — definitely a place to check out!

This is by far the best raw restaurant in the world. At least in the countries I’ve been to. The ambiance is fantastic(ask to sit out in the garden) the service is top notch, and most importantly the food is incredible. We have brought non vegan friends to this place and they loved it. I’d give them 5 stars but they had to close down for months after the unpaid staff went on strike. I’d be happy to update my review to 5* once I hear why that happened. Not paying workers isn’t cool. I recommend the lasagne, tamales, and mint sunday.

Pure Food is amazing, but expensive.(Entrees are in the $ 20 – 30 range.) Yes, it’s vegan, but you won’t even care — the novelty of the dishes and flavors are on point. It’s also modern and, dare I say, fancy enough for a date. It’s a popular place though, so be prepared to wait! My friend and I were shuttled to a separate dining room in the back, through the kitchen, which felt little odd and isolated, but the food made up for it. We split the kale caesar roll with avocado as an appetizer and then the zucchini and tomato lasagna and and sweet corn and cashew tamales as our entrees. Everything was great, but the tamales were undoubtedly the best. There was a raw cacao sauce that made it savory and sweet, which I love. Dessert was awesome! We had a pumpkin parfait of sorts that was creamy and decadent. The chefs are incredibly talented here in that they make food taste BETTER without dairy or meat. The flavors are simply incredible, and you don’t think«This would be better with some bacon,» as you may tend to do. I would take anyone skeptical about vegan food here in a heartbeat — just to prove them wrong. If it wasn’t so pricey, I’d be back more often!

Unlike most patrons who visited Pure Food and Wine(PFW) for the first time based on the raw and vegan concept, I stumbled upon the restaurant looking for an intimate restaurant that caters to healthy eaters. In my first visit, the memorable experience was built on three things: the Zucchini and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna, amazing wine, and that I was the only male patron at the time. After dining here recently again, the experience reaffirmed that PFW has not lost its magic in offering a simple menu of delicious appetizers and entrees with a macrobiotic theme. I can appreciate the reviews from Unilocalers who«two-starred» their experiences because they were disappointed by what the restaurant represents itself to be. Pure Food and Wine has a very specific goal in mind with the menu that they provide. If «raw» and«vegan» are not part of your dietary vocabulary, then like Liz C. would say — DON’T EATHERE. If you do end up wanting to eat here, the lasagna and the tuscan kale and radicchio salad play very well off each other. Seeing as the lasagna is a bit on the rich side, it is probably most enjoyable shared.

Ok, we were torn on our rating of Pure. 3 of us, 2 vegans and me, a vegetarian. We all had the chef’s 5 course tasting menu as required(if someone orders the tasting menu, the entire party has to have it). On one hand, the food is delicious, original, artfully prepared and fresh. On the other, it is terribly expensive and tiny. I just got home after an extraordinarily long dinner(2+ hours) and I’m starving. $ 250 without wine. It’s a funky, cozy restaurant in a very cool area of nyc. On Friday night they were able to accommodate us at 7 o’clock, reservation made weeks ago.(I did see a few walk-ins also seated.) The tasting menu is a commitment, of time and money. At this point I will say I’m probably coming back, but I am 100% definitely not going to get the tasting menu. The tables next to ours turned 3 times. Ample portions of delicious food, graciously served in a reasonably amount of time. Versus our glacially served tastes. No really. The noise level is high, be prepared to not hear your servers or companions. Another good reason to order from the menu instead of guessing what you are served. The food was complex and delicious. Each person is served something different so be prepared to share. Take pictures because one bite later there is nothing to look at… everyone was talking pictures of their plates btw because it really is pretty. There are so many cool vegan places in nyc, consider having something to eat at one of them before you settle in here.

Beautiful place with simple yet elegant décor. I went there to celebrate my birthday brunch with 7 other people. The staff was friendly and helped us chose which items to get. We ordered the falafel with tabouli, taco salad, the lasagna, and sushi. We seemed to like the most popular item the best, which was the Zucchini and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna, and also the sushi. There was nothing special about the other two items. The taco salad was a bit bland. For dessert, definitely get the mint sundae. It is so so so delicious. The quantity of it is filling. Do not be fooled by their cookies. They all sound so good, but when you get the actual thing, you would think it fell out of an actual normal sized dessert. You are paying way too much for a quarter sized cookie. Overall, a nice and fancy place for occasions with a welcoming staff. Otherwise, pretty expensive, we paid around 40 each, but that’s understandable considering it is a vegan place. Just have to order the right items and it will be a wonderful and a raw experience.

Wow! What a treat. Had dinner with two friends here on Sunday. I’m vegetarian, they are not but apparently they are regulars. Each dish surprised me with unexpected, wonderful flavors. We started with the poached persimmons and the date bread with truffle cream. Both were great but the date bread is one of my favorite dishes in recent memory. Thin little pieces of dark, earthy bread with fluffy cream with a truffle flavor, fresh figs, it was all just exquisite. For my entrée I had the lasagna and it again exceeded my expectations. It was somehow both rich and light with a real ricotta flavor. For dessert we shared a peanut butter, chocolate sundae. Again, perfect. Well, there were these cookie pieces in it that were really big and hard to cut with your spoon, but taste-wise, perfect. The service was so warm and friendly. I arrived early and sat at the bar. The bartender greeted me and I obviously looked startled because I didn’t want to order a drink. He said, don’t worry I’m just saying hi, I know you’re waiting, you don’t have to order anything! And in a totally genuine way, not a pissy, passive aggressive way. One thing that could be improved– every time a dish was delivered to our table, our waitress would show up five seconds later to ask how the dishes were, clearly before any of us had lifted our forks. The first two times we said«great» but the last time I said, we haven’t tried it yet! Not a big deal, but that timing could be improved just in case there was an issue with one of the dishes. I really can’t wait to come back here next time I’m in New York!

This place has a fancy vibe, but its missing something! Ambiance: Feels cozy and comfortable for a meal. The lighting is perfect! Staff: The staff was great, he tried helping us pick out something BUT as a waiter he has no control over the food(which is understandable)! Food: I tried the ‘falafel with tabouli’ and orreo cookie for a sweet dessert snack. Food at first glance looks really great in terms of presentation but the actual falafel was a bit bland. The red pepper hot sauce was not«hot» at all, and the entire dish felt a bit dry. It’s missing a bit of flavor, maybe an ACTUAL hot sauce might help. The most absurd thing was the ‘Sweet Orreo Cookie’ snack. For about $ 3 they give you a less than one inch cookie(I’m not exaggerating) placed in the middle of a plate. It had a bitter taste and definitely wouldn’t order that again. I can’t believe thats even on the menu. You’re better off getting the Mint Sundae, which is a favorite there! I might give this place another chance, but overall my first experience was OK.

Rarely do you find high-end vegetarian done well. The presentation, the flavors and the tastes were all masterfully blended and presented. I definitely left a happy camper. AMBIANCE It’s dark and romantic with candle lighting everywhere. The mood is soft and trendy, but not overdone. We sat inside, but the outdoor seating looked enticing and open with random pops of red and soft lighting as well. THESERVICE The service was impeccable I have to say. Our waiter was not only on point with his suggestions, but he was very attentive and friendly. There were always a few people coming to check on us and the food was also served promptly, but not too quickly. THEFOOD Must Haves: 1) Kale Caesar Roll with Avocado and Pickled Onions So Fresh and delectable. It’s like nothing you have before. The pickled onions provide the perfect punch to your taste buds. 2) House-made Date Bread with Truffle Cream and Fava Beans pea tendrils, fresh figs, chervil Let’s get serious, this dish had me at truffle. The truffle taste was subtle but pronounced, if you know what I mean. Although I have to say the plating was not my fave, the taste was perfect. 3) Zucchini and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna WOWWOW. The basil pistachio pesto is like hitting a home run. I could eat the pesto by itself and be happy. The freshness of the zucchini stack coupled with the pesto = my happy place. 4) Classic Sundae Ooooeeeey geeeeewwyy yumminess. 5) Orange Blossom Sponge Cake with Strawberry-Elderflower Semifreddo candied pistachios, strawberries, cabernet reduction The crunch of the pistachios with the cake and the sauces. Dessert Heaven. Might Pass on Next Time 1) Sweet Corn and Cashew Tamales with Chili Spiced Portabella Probably the prettiest plated dish that we had, but to me it was lacking in flavor in comparison to the others. The only other thing that stank was there are only two shared bathrooms for men and women, so there was usually a line when you had to use the restroom. Also the next time I come here, I am definitely getting the Chef’s tasting menu.

Almost considered jumping on the vegan bandwagon after this. Almost. Zucchini and tomato lasagna was BOMB! I was worried I wouldn’t be full and the portion sizes would be small considering it’s a vegan restaurant but I couldn’t be more wrong. I got full halfway towards the meal and the lasagna itself was so rich in flavor with the pesto and the three different types of sauces they supposedly use. Best part? All that food for half the calories. YAYYYYUH I eschewed wine and went for their cocktails instead because they infuse sake in every single one of them. Mine was the Apricot Blossom which was peach, apricot syrup, ginger, and sake. I wish it was stronger, but it was still good nonetheless. My best friend got the tamale. It was so delicious I couldn’t stop stealing forkfuls of it. I almost regretted ordering my lasagna. No, not really. The mint ice cream sundae with chocolate chips was alright. Nothing to write home about. Our waiter was a cutie, but a total basketcase. It took FOREVER to flag him down for ANYTHING. Not to mention he gave us the check for another table so our bill came out to three times more than we actually ordered –______– Love the back patio though. So romantic and fit for the season. It’s definitely a summer restaurant. I’ll come back… just for that lasagna again.

My first time at a raw food restaurant, and I have to say, it was exceptional. I went with a friend who lived in NY at one time and suggested Pure for dinner. So glad she suggested this place because I probably never would have gone otherwise. I got the Sweet Corn & Cashew Tamales, and they were delicious! Great flavor and presentation. My friend had the Zucchini and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna as it was really flavorful as well(but I have to say, I liked mine better). The service was also very good, which was a plus, and the patio was perfect. If the weather is good, I would highly suggest sitting back there. Overall, just a great experience.

Amazing raw vegan food. Brought a friend who didn’t really think raw vegan could be tasty but we were both super happy with our food. I had the lasagna and thought the portion size looked small but since it was dense with vegetables it ended up being pretty filling. Service was good. Also, got to sit in the back deck area, which is gorgeous.

Best friend and I dined here after taking in a Broadway show. I was immediately impressed with the quiet outdoor seating in the garden area. We chose the sampler menu which is chef’s choice. Amazing 5 course meal with a few surprises in between. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I was blown away by the variety of desserts. Oh and we healthy salads and veges and stuff too. I recommend the portobello mushrooms, carrot ginger soup, and the tamales. Wait staff were delightful. And I don’t throw that word around a lot.
